  • @53 God help this generation.

  • Okay so if I have the 3G/WIFI version, I get 1 PSV game for free?

  • No 3g in canada but I did score a free copy of uncharted and little deviants with my early edition bundle :)

  • OH man, HOW MUCH IS THAT FOIL ACCESSORY?

  • Can’t wait!!! PS Vita looks sweeeeet…

  • Mrs. Reyes:

You have an extremely marketable look and voice. I’ve seen a legion of poor marketing attempts that come across as being dishonest; to a fault. Voice inflection undertones and nonverbal facial cues show the true ‘love’ of a product.

In short, great job. It was obvious that you truely believe in the VITA. SONY should definitely utilize your priceless marketing skills more often…

  • I like the video style. But I have a few comments.

    Abby.

Why didn’t you open the case for little deviants. It would have been nice to see the insides of a typical Vita game.

YOu only took the Power supply out of the box. I would have liked to see unwrapping of the power supply. Get an idea if it is 3 prong or two prong for electrical. Also I’m curious if it is a USB charger like the PSP go. or a solid piece like the PSP standard charger.

Lastly why not show the connector to the Vita itself, I would like to know if it uses micro USB or is proprietary.

    • Great feedback! The power supply comes in three pieces. The standard two prong power cable. (The same one powering the PS3). The Input/Output power adapter, and the most important part. The USB to Vita (proprietary connected) cable. Which you can plug into your AC adapter or plug it into your PC/MAC and PS3 for power and content transfer.

  • Handy dandy USB cable?
No, that is not handy. Handy would have been using a standard USB connector like PSP did so you didnt need to bring a single-device cable around with you.

Why even use a proprietary dock connector that doesnt do anything USB doesnt already do? You removed TV out, the dock is useless!

  • Also, will the canadian early edition get a free PSN game too?
I’d love to get super stardust

  • Dear Sony:

THANK YOU for packing in the physical box/case for Little Deviants. I HATE when a flimsy paper with a voucher code is all that is given….

Also Abbey, you are MEGA CUTE.

  • ABRA LA PUERRRRRRRRRTA!

  • Can someone please confirm for me that I can walk into any major retailer on the 15th without pre ordering and walk out with the 1st edition bundle? I need to know.

  • Basically are all/most major retailers getting the 1st edition bundle?

  • Amazon is so awesome for upgrading my Vita to “release day shipping” without me even asking for it. :D

  • Oops, meant to say “release date delivery.”

  • I can’t wait anymore!

  • @marlyt, I don’t see any comments that qualify as s…. Harassment. Did some posts get removed before I got here? Abby is very pretty & you notice they never use Sid or Jeff for unboxing, lol.

Sorry Sid &Jeff, just joking but I’m sure you agree with me anyway.

  • She does a great job to me on these unboxing videos. Her unboxing of the wireless stereo headset made me go out and buy one. It’s a great headset by the way.

  • Don’t have much time for portable gaming these days — and when I do — my iPad and iPhone pretty much take care of those needs — and with games that cost $0.99 to $7.00 max.

Stunning that Sony thinks there’s going to be a market for $50 portable games in 2012.

This is another Sony anchor headed to the bottom of the ocean.

  • Still bettin’ on the Taco Bell contest
Hopefully I’ll win and gets me a bundle for free!

  • Thanks Rey. Good information to know. It looked a lot like the dock connector for the PspGo. Are they compatible?

  • PlayStation Vita? Never heard of it, maybe you guys should make a commercial for it.

  • Man, Abbey Reyes is such a brilliant Sr. PR Specialist. I love how she’s doing her job by answering all of our concerns here, like why we are now, value-wise paying 10 dollars MORE to get it a week early, whereas before we were saving 20 dollars. Keep up the great work!

  • People can be so stupid. All they can go on about is UC:GA being $50.00. Many of the other games are less but every time we talk about the VITA people gripe about it being $50.00 completely ignoring the fact that many games are not that price. You can’t just buy something else if you are so adamant about UC:GA or any other game that might cost that price. No instead you whine and groan like an old lady.

Nintendo charges $40.00 for REMAKES of games only $10.00 less then a game that isn’t even a remake but a whole other game and yet you almost never hear anyone griping about buying Starfox or Zelda:OOT, decades old games as opposed to UC which is not even that old. The people that search and hunt for reasons not to buy a VITA never wanted one in the first place. If you wanted one you wouldn’t come up with dumb excuses like firmware updates, it being so light making it seem cheap, complaining about smudging, camera quality and all these stupid excuses. Don’t buy it but shut up with the dumb, unreasonable excuses please. It is annoying to the people who really want to buy it instead of you tire kickers.

  • @69 Dax, I have 2 iPadds, an iPhone & they all have games on them that I never play because it sucks not to have the analog sticks. Same reason my psp go is a giant dust ball. So yes in 2012 I am really excited to spend more money on Vita & Vita games.

I went to best buy yesterday because they let me test one & it’s gorgeous & huge & now I’m even more anxiously waiting.

Did somebody say a pre existing AT&T sim card will work in the Vita? Like my unlimited one in my iPadd?

  • @59 Techni

Quite sure the PSN game (that’s not really free), along with the 8GB card are more or less AT&T’s doing. Similar to what Vodafone is doing with the 3G model in Europe. Maybe once the 3G model releases in Canada they’ll do something similar but it won’t come from the WiFi model. Wish we could have had the WiFi FEB here in the U.S. That was a better deal, especially after Best Buy Canada included Uncharted: Golden Abyss to it for a limited time.

  • I swear I don’t get the complaining about the prices as has already been said the only game that is $50 that is coming out atm is Uncharted. Also unless you buy a really old pre-owned game (most likely a VERY BAD one to) how are you going to get a PS3 game for $50 bucks. Most of the pre-owned games that aren’t seriously old are almost the same price as a new PS3 game. The way I see it we are getting games that are basically on pare with what we would get on the PS3. This really is a first, it has always been in the past that portable games weren’t on pare with console games and seriously toned down. With all this being the case if I understand the cost. Oh and one last thing MOST OF THE GAMES coming out at launch will be $40 or less Uncharted being the exception to the rule. So please calm down guys.

  • cant waittttttttttttttttttt i will be picking up Uncharted, Starter Pack, and WiFi Vita!! :D:D:D:D cant waitttttttttt

  • and those crying about the game prices are soooo dumb! if you dont have a problem getting a $60 dollar game for a PS3 then why cry about buying a vita game $10 dollars less when you will pretty much get the same awesome experience since the Vita game will be soo damn bad ass!!! QUIT BEING CHEAP AND STOP CRYING!

  • 1st of all… I truly can’t live without our NA PS Blog!! Woot! Woot! Kudos Team! :D Other than that… This unboxing video is really funny! Not to mention sexy! ;) I can’t wait for my 1st Ed to arrive!!! :D

  • Hahahaha! That video was hilarious!!! I love you Abby!

  • i am very happy that i preordered this bad boy and will be picking it up on the 15th

  • She should be the new host for Qore!!!!
PS I want to unbox her =X

  • I can’t wait! Feb 15 can’t come soon enough!!!

  • I thought that there was a screen protector that came in the bundle or am I crazy? Anyway the Vita is paid off now it is just the waiting period. Less than a week to go. Can someone clarify the screen protector question for me?

  • I dunno, I came to watch this official unboxing with a lot of optimism. I have a pre-order for this First Edition Bundle and I’m really surprised with Sony. After watching the unboxing, I’m thinking I should cancel my First Edition Bundle with Amazon and order the Launch Bundle instead.

About the only question this unboxing seemed to answer was whether Little Deviants comes on a card or via download. With a lead off mentioning “you guys have had tons of questions”, this was rather disappointing. And at no point did the unboxing say that it comes in the retail package either.

You might out of hand say that “well, Abby showed the retail box, so of course Little Deviants comes in the retail box”. Yet, Abby also showed off the limited edition case which included a WipeOut 2048 PS Vita game card. I seriously doubt the First Edition Bundle comes with a copy of WipeOut 2048. Although, that would be a great way to get me (and likely many others) to pick up the First Edition Bundle instead of the Launch Bundle.

So, Sony, does the First Edition Bundle include Little Deviants in the retail package, or is just the “PS Vita game card” packed in with the Vita?

  • Back to the unboxing. The AC adapter was very poorly explained. The AC cord and the AC to USB adapter weren’t even unbagged. Fortunately, one of the whole TWO Sony replies in this thread made up for that. Thank you Rey for covering in the comments what a Sr. PR Specialist failed to include in the video.

Second unboxing fail: where is the “Bundle” unboxing? We only see the 3G/WiFi PS Vita unboxed, not the First Edition Bundle. The limited case was already out, Little Deviants was also sitting on the table, and both the 4GB memory card and the AT&T DataConnect Pass were never even seen.

Originally, the 4GB memory card was a benefit to the First Edition Bundle. Now it’s a $10~$30 drop in value with the 8GB card included in the Launch Bundle. Sony, would you please answer why did you include an 8GB card in the Launch Bundle? You could have made it a 4GB card as well, which would have devalued this bundle by a fair bit less. What’s done is done, yet you could show enough respect to your fans, your customers, and tell us why.

  • For the script writer, just wow. “Your 4 gigabyte memory card will allow you to save all of your digital content and most importantly all of your PlayStation Network apps and games.” All of? Really? If the 4GB card can hold “all of” my content, “all of” my games, why would you even need to sell an 8GB card, much less a 16GB card, or even a 32GB card? We expect some marketing exaggeration, heck, I’m a Product Marketing Director by day and I write and speak a lot of it, but this is beyond exaggeration, it’s a lie. Uncharted is already 3.2GB. Will it even take a year before a single game comes out that requires more than 4GB? Let alone all of our “digital content” which for many of us, already well exceeds 4GB. I’ve got over 5GBs in photos from one DSLR alone.

Which leads to the, ‘what the?’ moment in the script: “…a free PlayStation Network game when you activate…so you can truly never stop playing.” Getting one free game, one that would have been nice to have been named in this unboxing or the Launch Edition blog post, somehow lets us “truly never stop playing”? I mean, your Sr. PR Specialist is cute, but not so cute that the viewers end up deaf.

  • Sony, what is up with the naming? “PS Vita game card”? Which are completely different from the “AR Play game cards”? Can we just call it a game cartridge?

Oh, and I guess the scriptwriter, and everyone else at Sony who reviewed this video, forgot that it’s not the “PlayStation Network” anymore? Just to log in here I had to agree to the terms and conditions that remind us it’s the “Sony Entertainment Network” now. Firmware’s already out for the PS3, so the video’s already out of date.

  • The video covering the limited edition case was particularly lacking. The few pictures available on Amazon are better than what this covered. As a simple question, can we fit the 3-part AC adapter into the second compartment? The video shows only the USB cable while pictures of the Sony PS Vita Travel Pouch show two of the three components fitting in a somewhat similar section. Will the AC cord and AC-to-USB adapter fit with the USB cable in the limited edition case? This limited edition case is one of the two remaining benefits to the First Edition Bundle over the Launch Bundle, so I would have thought you would have covered it better.

  • Throughout these comments, I may be coming across fairly harsh here. I’m disappointed, sorry. I’ve got a pre-order already and the news on the Launch Bundle was a major letdown. Myself, and everyone else, has to choose now whether a case we can’t see in advance and getting the system early is worth paying for. For the $50 difference, I could buy Little Deviants download for $25 onto that nice 8GB card and then have $25 left over for a third-party case. So is a the limited case worth $25? Hori’s cases in Japan are running about $13~15 and looking nice. The Sony PS Vita Travel Pouch is $20. The CTA Digital Travel EVA Protective Case is $10, leaving enough for another SEN game. This video simply didn’t help me to decide to stick with my First Edition Bundle.

I’m really disappointed with Sony on this bundle. I’ll most likely cancel my First Edition pre-order in the morning.

  • Man I can’t wait. As soon as my refund check comes in, (within the next 10 days), I’m ordering this bad boys First Edition bundle, the cradle, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, WipEouT 2048, and ModNation Racers: Road Trip. This is going to be sweet.

That reminds me, when are we going to see Sweet Tooth on the PS Vita?

  • ARLEJK this is killing me lol. I’m already so excited, and now all these teaser videos…I’m so torn about upgrading my reservation to the 3G package with the memory card…but if I do that, I can’t afford a game at the moment unfortunately :c So I’d be stuck with the AR games…SO TORN.

  • I’m not “whining” about $50 games. Even $40 is way too much in today’s market.

I’m simply stating that the market for those games is quickly vanishing. In 2009, Nintendo held 70% of the market for portable game software (average price per game roughly $35). Sony held 11% (avg: $40). iOS/Android held 19% (avg: $3).

In 2010, Nintendo held 57% of the market. Sony had 9%. And iOS/Android had 34%.

In 2011, Nintendo held 33% of the market. Sony had 3%. And iOS/Android had 64%.

That is a MASSIVE decline in sales for the two top selling hand-held systems. And CLEAR evidence that people are no longer wanting to shell out $40 for a game, when they can buy a pretty decent alternative for $3.

Sony’s pricing scheme is ridiculous. But don’t take my word for it. Just wait a few months and see how well the Vita is doing. Then we’ll chat again. Just look at Japan. Nobody is buying the Vita. It’s a huge flop.

  • Wow, such an annoying host. She makes me NOT want to watch the video…

  • i got the First Edition Bundle will their PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi system n 2 games for it but i need kno y we only get the 4 gb and the second edition get an 8gb ummm……

  • I have a quick question about bringing PSP games on PS Vita.

I just want to know if the Double Packs will be made available on PS VITA soon.
I downloaded the Loco Roco/Patapon Double pack on PSN.

Will it be on the Vita “In the coming weeks”??

Also, how does remote play work? Can you maybe have an article on how it works? Thank you.

  • I AM VERY EXCITED TO OWN A VITA BUT I WOULD BE A FOOL TO PURCHASE DAY ONE, IT WILL BE AT LEAST 6MNTHS TO A YEAR BEFORE THE VITA GETS ROLLING AND WE START SEEING PRICE DROPS AND BUNDLES WORTH GETTING, ZERO ADVERTISMENTS FOR THE VITA IS A BIG FAIL.. THE OTHER DAY I ASKED A FRIEND WHO OCCASIONALLY PLAYS PS3 AND XBOX IF HE WAS GETTING A PS VITA.. TAKE A GUESS WHAT HE SAID??… “UMMM, WHAT IS A VITA??” ON ANOTHER NOTE LETS TALK LAUNCH GAMES.. WITH 26 LAUNCH GAMES SCHEDULED FOR DAY ONE RELEASE(NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA PLUS RECENTLY ADDED) IT SEEMS PROMISING, BUT ASIDE FROM GOLDEN ABYSS, YOU WILL NOTICE MANY RE-RELEASES, PORTS, AND MINI GAME COLLECTIONS WITH A LACK OF TRUE NEW HARDCORE GAMES.. AND ANSWER ME THIS.. WHY 3G?? EVERYONE KNOWS THAT IN A YEAR OR TWO EVERYTHING WILL BE 4G.. IT JUST DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE.. AS MUCH AS I WANT TO BE AN EARLY ADOPTER AND SUPPORT SONY AND THE FUTURE OF HANDHELD GAMES, I WILL HOLD OFF.. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MEMORY CARDS..

  • Mine’s all paid off! can’t wait til i get my grubby little paws on it! my only complaint would be how come Sony wasn’t nice enough to give us Canuckians a nice Wi-Fi/3G bundle as well instead of just Wi-Fi?! c’mon Sony, for once don’t scew us over and make all things created equal if you’re going to do something like this!

  • where are the AR cards? i thought all vitas came with them but i watch over 20 vids on youtube an not one of them had them
