PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
With the official launch of PS Vita at hand, we’re augmenting last week’s PS Store launch on PS Vita with another stellar update as well as some new PS3 Full Games, world class demos and one pre-order opportunity you won’t want to miss.

To start, one of the biggest games of the year is coming straight to PSN, the same day it’s available at retail. Mass Effect 3 will be available to download on March 6th and to celebrate, we’ve partnered with EA to bring you a special pre-order on the PlayStation Store. Pre-order on the PlayStation Store now and get the M-55 Argus Assault Rifle and the Mass Effect 3 – Take Earth Back Theme.

PS Vita games are also easy to look to as the star of the show this week. Games like TALES FROM SPACE: MUTANT BLOBS ATTACK, Touch My Katamari and Plants Vs Zombies pepper the PlayStation Store with some great gaming experiences. There’s even a new PS minis triple pack from Grip Games with 3 of their best hits, playable on PS Vita. But don’t miss out on the other Vita-only experiences like the AR (Augmented Reality) games Cliff Diving, Table Soccer and Fireworks. You’ll also be excited to see the first wave of apps for Vita hit with Live Tweet, Flickr and Netflix arriving with today’s update. Starting today, you’ll be able to find all the above PS Vita experiences easily viewable from the PlayStation Store on your PS Vita and PlayStation 3. There is now a special PS Vita Games category on the PS3 PlayStation Store as well.

You’ll want to watch the PS3 Full Games category for great new additions with Mafia II and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. But if you’re looking for something more bite-sized to download, get your hands on EA’s SSX via the demo. It’s your first hands-on with the definitive version of the game as the PS3 version will have the entire Mt. Fuji mountain as an in-game exclusive.

PlayStation Plus subscribers get a chance to snag 6 great Sega Genesis classics this week. Newer subscribers may not have had a chance to get these gems when they were available last year. Now, they’re all available free this week in PlayStation Plus. Subscribers also get access to great discounts like 50% off Hamilton’s Great Adventure.

There’s much more to uncover with today’s update so make sure you check out all the details below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or join the discussion on the PlayStation Community forums in the Official PlayStation Store Update thread.

  • Everyone should just start thinking the update comes in on Wednesday (well in this case for my timezone it did).

So then everyone can wake up, turn their PS3 on, and have a nice new update to start their day.

  • Bleh, as a launch PS plus member, getting a little tired of all of the free game recycles. The second time it’s free it should be permanent or something :P

  • So where is the Uncharted stuff

  • What happened to the Final Fantasy 13-2 DLC that was supposed to drop today? I was looking forward to the Sazh story!

  • As everyone else is asking.. what happened to Uncharted 3 Flashback Map Pack #2? Not the trailer; the actual content?

  • @51 I like the way you think.

Thinking the update is on wednesday is a way better idea.

  • When is the ADD-ON for FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 (the bow and outfit for sarah) going to be available still waiting……for it and the game is almost beat….

  • Hi PS Blog, not usually one to post on anything, but I cant seem to get an answer anywhere… Will you have an update soon (or anything) regarding the ps3 seeing status on vita players (and vita trophies)? I dont understand how everything works so well on the vita end (can see players, trophies, etc. for ps3), but not from the ps3 end!? Will this be fixed because I would like to have my friends know im playing ps3 or Vita when im signed into PSN.. Progress report would be useful. Thank you, love the Vita BTW.

  • I thought the Facebook app was coming today or yesterday for the Vita.. where is it?

  • Oh wait, nvm. I guess it’s next week.

  • I dont like to complain about the free games but how many times are you guys going to give out Streets of Rage II and Golden Axe lol

  • What happened to the Unit 13 Demo? I hope it’s one the Store.

  • Another week. Another distinct lack of PS1 classics.

  • Where is the Facebook app for the vita???

  • Great update but I can’t help but notice that there’s no new episode of Pulse this week :(

Hopefully there’ll be one next week :)

  • Forget about people complaining about the delay of the update. People need to learn to wait and not be so impatient all the time, they think you guys are taking a vacation when that stuff takes a lot of work (to upload content and release it and all) Great Upload :) tons of stuff ! THANK YOU!

  • ummmm facebook app? but other than that great update.

  • what’s wrong with the ultimate marvel vs. capcom 3 viewtiful joe costume pack? It says it’s only for ps vita.

  • Decided to just go ahead and buy my Hyperdimension Neptunia IF avatar, then decided to get the 2 free Add-On for Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 (I’ll buy the other 2 Add-On later). And yay for SSX demo! =)

  • Wasn’t it around this time last year that updates were always late and then Sony got hacked? Oh right, it was. Here’s hoping this late and lukewarm update isn’t foreshadowing dark days ahead. The worst thing about my PS3 is that it’s made by Sony. I can’t think of one redeeming thing about PSN or PSN plus in the last year. And now with Vita out you guys will be pushing it hard and trying to convince us that it’s worth it and not going to die like every other handheld. Sony, its shameful how you line your wallets and claim to care about customers.

  • Ok I’ve been waiting forever for a Braves avatar! Where is….hold on….WAIT A MINUTE…..YEAH! You mean after I begged for the rest of the MLB avatars to be put on the store for 7 months it’s finally here? THANK YOU! I don’t have to whine and beg anymore. Lol. Go Braves!

  • no Facebook app, no foursquare app, no Uncharted 3 Flashback map Pack #2, and no Final Fantasy XIII-2 costume pack…

  • How ’bout those Uncharted 3 maps, oh wait… & Remember the other week when the Fort co-op was messed up when the store update launched? Really on a roll :/

At least the SSX demo works…

  • @ SWITCH_00599 and others.

considering this isnt the first time they have been late its getting to the point where it just seems they arent doing anything till the last minute. Tell me what other jobs out there are ok with late work? All the jobs i have been through if there is a deadline on something it better be done. if not there better be a good excuse, and considering they cant even apologize to us the consumers who basically pay for the things that are on here. i would assume to please them would be top priority since without us they basically have no job.

And ti has nothing to do with being impatience or waiting, as long as we are told about it beforehand.

  • @thrakadral Then sell your PS3 and leave the rest of the PS3 owners alone so they can atleast enjoy their consoles while you troll and bash Sony when you are clearly paying them for their products.

  • Another FYI to Sony: The fact that you have no shopping cart on the Vita’s store means that every purchase is done separately . . . which either the store or my own credit card company is now bouncing back on when attempting to purchase something, given that multiple purchases were made within short succession. The Vita version of the store desperately needs a shopping cart, rather than just one-item-per-transaction use.

  • Wow great update, can totally understand the wait. Unlike like most here. The twitter app for PSV is probably one of the best apps I have ever seen! Eager to see how the FaceBook app will preform. Otherwise great update! Looking forward to next week.

  • Even though it’s not listed in this post, I’m really glad to see Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus on the store. I was starting to think that it was game card only, and that we would have another PSP go situation where some games are released digitally and some aren’t. Can’t wait to pick up my Vita in the morning. :D If anyone would like to add me to play some UMvC3 or 2048 multiplayer, feel free! :)

    PSN: JDog09

  • Just to bring it to whom ever it may concerns attention. The Costume Quest Bundle Pack is listed as 9.99 on here but in the store its priced at 12.99.I know its only 3 bucks but I have heard a lot of people complain about a lot less than 3 bucks in my life.

  • why isn’t the Viewtiful Costume pack for UMVC3 installing on PS3 it says connect your ps vita but in the PS store it says it’s for PS3 & Vita

  • Thank you for the Genesis bundle! I missed it the first time around since my big PS3 died.

  • can you please put an avatar of the charctar tallibot from uncharted 3 on the store

  • Been playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for the pass 3-4 hours on my PS3 waiting for PSN to UPDATE !!!

I understand you guys can run into problem but at least give us a FREAKING ANSWER on why!!! Instead of keeping your mouth shut as always. I don’t understand why SONYcan’t have a SET TIME on PSN UPDATES. MICROSOFT seem to be doing fine with theres.

Until SONY start given me a answer and start caring for theirs customers!!!! I am buying all my games on XBL from now on and only buying exclusives on PSN. SONY you just lost a lot of money from me.

And ……. whats the deal with the recycles PS PLUS SEGA GENESIS COLLECTION. Getting tired of these recycles PS PLUS games. After the 2nd recycles it should be permanent or wait a year before you recycle them again.

  • @Codeman420 I never said I didn’t enjoy my PS3. What I don’t enjoy is being screwed over consistently by Sony. Look at their verbiage in their communications over the last several months. They are practically claiming that they are doing their customers a service. I was never critical of other PS3 others. I’m critical of a company that makes promises and doesn’t deliver. They don’t own up to their mistakes. Everything they’ve promised they’ve scaled back on. In light of that, I’m asking you to back off. I have every right to express my displeasure as you do to inundate your comments with praises for Sony. The fact that I’m a paying customer does give me a right to hold them accountable for their actions and express my disappointment.

  • Dang… no facebook app yet

  • Naughty Dog pulled an Activision on us :-(

  • @81, ah man, really liked the demo of this game, the gameplay is pretty much like fable 3, a game that I really loved to play. Looking forward to buy this one :D

  • Damn! I thought at LEAST the FFXIII-2 alt costumes were due out today, as per everything I’ve read online up until tonight (AND that the JP psn store already has theirs up). From what I understand, Sazh’s story is next week though.

  • Why are the Uncharted 3 maps not in the store.. they were supposed to come out today..
    did I miss something?

  • I thought last week was ridiculous, but wow this week just blew it out of the water, what is going on sony? You guys are serioulsy taking forever to update the store, you guys need to get people who will start the update early in the morning or late the previous night so the update will be available early Tuesday not late Tuesday or even Wednesday in the east coast. I dunno if its the network that makes uploading the content slow, but Nintendo and MS have their updates early in the day, not late afternoon/night.

  • Oh and no Uncharted map pack? wtf? That’s the main thing I was waiting for today and its not even there.

  • They added new MLB avatars and STILL didnt make one for the Tampa Bay Rays. Theyre literally the only team with out an avatar now…Pretty messed up IMO…

  • why isn’t the Viewtiful Costume pack for UMVC3 installing on PS3 it says connect your ps vita but in the PS store it says it’s for PS3 & Vita

  • cry cry cry. shut up and find something else to do with your time like maybe i dunno play a game? psn you guys are great keep it up. an idea maybe make a downloadable hankie to dry all these tear and maybe ome kinda virtual hug app thingy. from reading these comments its much needed. back to my vita peace out

  • I dont know about anyone else, but it’s driving me nuts having to search out what is new etc.. It was great when the new stuff came out, it was all right there.. games, demos, DLC, avatars etc and now seems that all the updates instead of being all in 1 spot, is spread all over, some now in this area, and over there, but to get to it, you gotta go into this section…. just put ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL the NEW stuff in 1 shot instead of it being hide and seek.

    Thanks.

Oh PS…having BIG problems downloading video’s. My main PS3 Slim in my bedroom which I use for games and movies, and my orig. 60gb PS3 is in the living room, which I barely use.

But for some reason when i go to download the TESTER to my PS3 Slim in my bedroom, keeps saying i have to deactivate the other PS3(slim), which I have done numerous times, all to no avail.

I go to the PS Store, into video, WONT LET ME DOWNLOAD because of other “activated system” which I said has been deactivated, yet it is NOT registering it on your end. A few emails to Sony and no reply

  • Sooooo, about those Uncharted 3 Flashback Map Pack #2? :p

  • Hate to keep harping on this but, where is the U3 Flashback map pack? Was it delayed or is it just going to be late updating?

  • Looking at the update time, I don’t see any reason to get your collective panties in a twist.

Grace and co. did a great job tonight taking the necessary measures to try and launch an entire new section of titles to the store this week. We are talking about swapping in the necessary data to the files for PSvita games. All of which have digital copies since most like to glaze over this fact.

As for the PS+ recycles, its more of expanding the pool of games for the new sign-ups.
Last week was huge for the plus userbase, I myself had at least seven downloads from that section.
Skipping of course the two or three multiple gb titles until back to the future gets finished.

Larger amounts of players joining plus may mean more repeats, but it also allows them to find bigger titles.
Week one on The Simpsons and Stacking has been rather a positive for the program.
I’ll be looking forward to the next few weeks releases.

  • Hi. Wonder if we will see BlazBlue, Street Fighter X Tekken, Mass Effect 3 or Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations Avatars available at PSN Store at anytime soon? Perhaps yes?

  • Wow theses games are huge I guess a 8gb memory card still isn’t enough. Sony you got me I’ll work my small 16 year old hands off to buy a 32 gb memory card.
