PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
With the official launch of PS Vita at hand, we’re augmenting last week’s PS Store launch on PS Vita with another stellar update as well as some new PS3 Full Games, world class demos and one pre-order opportunity you won’t want to miss.

To start, one of the biggest games of the year is coming straight to PSN, the same day it’s available at retail. Mass Effect 3 will be available to download on March 6th and to celebrate, we’ve partnered with EA to bring you a special pre-order on the PlayStation Store. Pre-order on the PlayStation Store now and get the M-55 Argus Assault Rifle and the Mass Effect 3 – Take Earth Back Theme.

PS Vita games are also easy to look to as the star of the show this week. Games like TALES FROM SPACE: MUTANT BLOBS ATTACK, Touch My Katamari and Plants Vs Zombies pepper the PlayStation Store with some great gaming experiences. There’s even a new PS minis triple pack from Grip Games with 3 of their best hits, playable on PS Vita. But don’t miss out on the other Vita-only experiences like the AR (Augmented Reality) games Cliff Diving, Table Soccer and Fireworks. You’ll also be excited to see the first wave of apps for Vita hit with Live Tweet, Flickr and Netflix arriving with today’s update. Starting today, you’ll be able to find all the above PS Vita experiences easily viewable from the PlayStation Store on your PS Vita and PlayStation 3. There is now a special PS Vita Games category on the PS3 PlayStation Store as well.

You’ll want to watch the PS3 Full Games category for great new additions with Mafia II and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. But if you’re looking for something more bite-sized to download, get your hands on EA’s SSX via the demo. It’s your first hands-on with the definitive version of the game as the PS3 version will have the entire Mt. Fuji mountain as an in-game exclusive.

PlayStation Plus subscribers get a chance to snag 6 great Sega Genesis classics this week. Newer subscribers may not have had a chance to get these gems when they were available last year. Now, they’re all available free this week in PlayStation Plus. Subscribers also get access to great discounts like 50% off Hamilton’s Great Adventure.

There’s much more to uncover with today’s update so make sure you check out all the details below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or join the discussion on the PlayStation Community forums in the Official PlayStation Store Update thread.

  • Some people here are so greedy smh

  • LOL @all the people complaining about it being late. Store up dates are every Tuesday, was it not updated on Tuesday? Sounds pretty simple to understand to me. Of course I’m not 12 but yeah, still pretty simple. And that look’s like a pretty big update, maybe that had something to do with it taking more time. Honestly did your world come to an end when it wasn’t updated at exactly a specific time? Of course not ,that would be AWESOME!!

  • i will not get a vita until friday hopefully but i just saw fifa is 3gb to download, thats alot! i was going to buy the 4gb memory card but now ima buy the 8gb and i guess im going to have to buy the psysical copy of fifa on best buy. also what are AR cards? that Augmented Reality – Table Soccer game says you have to use your AR cards to create stadiums but i dont know what that is

  • also can you put up NFL themes or avatars, also NHL avatars

  • Just wanted to say that I really think it’s awesome that you are giving a discount on most of the digital Vita games. I am going to buy all of my games through PSN and it makes a big deal to me that the games are cheaper. I also notice when games are not discounted and that’s disappointing to me since I am getting less product when I buy digitally. I will support the discounted games by buying them and hope that others do the same. I hope that future digital games continue to be discounted. Keep up the good work!

  • @99 Actually, here in the Eastern US Time Zone, it was released on Wednesday.

  • WHERE ARE THE NEW UC3 MAPS.

  • i want my U3 maps -.-

  • I laugh at everyone whining so hard about this. I don’t sit around all day waiting for the update I know will come eventually. Do other things. SHEESH. Here in PST, it’s still a good 1 hour and 30 minutes until the day ends, and the update was added awhile ago on top of that. The world’s time does not revolve around you. Deal with it.

Oh and a good hour or more before the store’s front was updated, you could still search what you wanted to download it. (like every other update ever made) I’m sure most of you guys whining like children don’t even bother to search for anything and wait for the store front to be updated.

And why you sit around waiting for the update instead of, I don’t know, doing something… is beyond me. I get wanting something, but damn… talk about entitlement.

  • I am confused. Are minis that are on the compatibility list not available to transfer to a Vita if you got them through PS+? I’ve managed to get exactly one out of my 18 minis to transfer over.

  • This sucks, bought Darksider for USD15.99 recently, it was a discount for PS+ and now it’s selling for USD9.99. What the hell!!

  • The vita now seems real…

  • wow. nothing I want… not interested in ever getting a Vita, so, I can see little of interest coming for the few months it is here. .. unless the price drops significantly… for system and games, I don’t foresee Vita living’ la vita loca very long. or atleast bundle it WITH the required memory card, like the 3ds comes with an SD card.

  • Like others have said; everyone relax & do something else. Smartphone, other consoles, your family, working out, the bloody WWW- argh, chill people.

  • @106 the store usually updates 5-8 est, today(Wednesday) it updated at 12:30est & it didn’t even include the Uncharted 3 maps, even though Hong Kong, and Japan got them.

  • Hi!,
Where is Grand Knights History PSP game??

  • Where do I go to renew my Qore subscription? I’m not getting the option to.

  • Worms: Battle Islands is a PSP game, isn’t it…

  • Where is the music unlimited vita app? Coming soon?

  • So when is something going to be done to Fatal Inertia EX from last week’s PS+ update so we can actually play it?

  • Great… now where’s the Home update post? I want to know what’s happening with the Street Fighter X Tekken integration o_o I keep seeing posts that you guys are being held back by all the vita-based posts so I don’t want to come off as a selfish brat complaining about not getting the posts he wants but you guys are the ones who started posting the updates on monday and i’ve been checking repeatedly over the past two days… just some indication of whats happening would be nice instead of leaving us home users hanging…

  • Oh and Super Stardust Delta STILL isn’t working.

  • WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 Digital – Sale (PS3) (now $9.99, original price $39.99)

Its nowhere to be found in the ps3 section.

  • @Genexi2 I dont know why you cant play it, plays just fine on my ps3.

  • will there be custom themes for the vita like the ps3 and psp have?

  • Is there any word on a North American Armored Core V demo? I’m very happy this game is coming out soon, but I would really like having a demo.

  • No excuse for updating weekly content at 1am EST. Shame on you Sony.

You wonder why people prefer Xbox Live over PSN service…..

  • So…anyone other than me wondering where the PSOne Imports are and why we haven’t seen a release since October? Although I’m tired of seeing the space shooters and different versions of R-Type, it’s better than nothing…I guess. Any thoughts? Anyone?

  • Final Fantasy fans on this blog have been asking for a PSN release of the PSP game Final Fantasy Crisis Core for ages now. Can you please explain to us why this game (along with the PSP Anniversary Editions of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II) are not available for purchase on the US PSN store when other territories have had them for months, if not years.

I can purchase Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition (originally a PSP developed game) on the iPod Touch/iPhone now – but I STILL can’t get it from the PSN store.

  • Anyone looking to pick up Super Stardust Delta should check out the All Titles section for the Bundle.

  • @125 I’ve read multiple times that Square-Enix will not release the rights for Crisis Core to be made into a downloadable game. It’s a shame too, because it’s the best PSP game ever made if you ask me.

  • I just got my Vita today but I can’t download anything game related to it since “I already have 5 or more systems activated”. I only have my PSP, PS3, and now PSV and I might have activated for other PSP’s and PS3’s I own. Still I am wondering if I can deactivate all my systems so I can manually activate the systems I own.

I hate that I just got my PSV and can’t play any games on it. It really sucks.

  • Okay Sony the hell is going on !!!! At first i did not really care about having to wait 1 week for cross platform play. It has bean a week AND ITS NOT WORKING!!!! This is one of the main resins i got a vita and. What do you like lieing to all the people you just made millions off of or what this is bull crap!!! _EXTREME RAGE_

  • Sigma + straight ninja’d its way onto the PSN store. OMG, I am so excited! Escape Plan, Sigma +, and Shinobido 2 once I return w/ Vita in hand tomorrow. Oh, also will be dl’ing tweet app and Netflix app.

  • LOL I have no doubt why Sega Genesis lost to the SNES.

  • @128 This will tell you how to deactivate the other systems.

    http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/3913808?start=0&tstart=0

  • so there doa vita system is being force fed to us and from what im reading so far is incomplete like the 3ds was for 4 months in saying that the dlc that should be built in and once again nothing 3 weeks in a row for the ps3 and nothing since they started to release ps2 titles and a shocker here now they are still trying to revive the dead psp by releasing crap for the dead system wow, btw its after 2 am cst and still no update on my system still. how bout this lets forget the doa vita and try to salvage your customers with some good updates to the store even the wii has something for everyone and lets all face it the wii sucks and that other system i just wont go there.

  • @ OlympusMons666:

“LOL @all the people complaining about it being late. Store up dates are every Tuesday, was it not updated on Tuesday?”

depends on your time zone. eastern standard time would have seen this update show up after midnight, making it wednesday the 22nd and not tuesday the 21st.

  • Nice post

  • @ Genexi2:

“So when is something going to be done to Fatal Inertia EX from last week’s PS+ update so we can actually play it?”

    huh?

  • “The Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Flashback Map Pack #2 will be available when the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow, February 21. There’s also a NEW game type for Uncharted 3 Multiplayer is coming.” -Naughty Dog

So what happened to the maps?

  • @ Elvick_:

“Here in PST, it’s still a good 1 hour and 30 minutes until the day ends, and the update was added awhile ago on top of that. The world’s time does not revolve around you.”

i hope you realize the irony of your statement – not everyone lives in the pacific time zone, so the world’s time does not revolve around you.

it’s nice that they offer us content every week, but we’re all promised to have a store update on tuesday. a strict deadline needs to be put in place to assure that people living 3 hours ahead of you get their content on time.

  • WOW!! ABOUT FREAKING TIME!! I have been waiting for the MLB 11 Angels avatar FOREVER!! What the @#$@ was the hold up?

  • where’s the facebook app? and the uncharted dlc? what… why… where…

    k. ill just go to bed…..

  • Seriously! The next playstation blogcast, I would really like to know why it took so freaking long to get those avatars on the store. Its literally been a year later to get the rest of the MLB avatars up.

  • A lot of you people sure do whine a lot. You think they just press a big red button and suddenly the PS Store uodates and new content just appears. I wish my biggest problem in life was a late PS Store update. Must be nice. Anyway, Sony you’re going in the right direction. PS Store and PS+ are slowly but surely getting a little bit better all the time.

  • Wow, I was just thinking I should try and buy Darksiders somewhere, as the new one is looking pretty good, and I never gave the first one a proper chance. And a digital version would be sweet, but I thought $20 was too much. LO AND BEHOLD, A WILD SALE APPEARS! $10, huh? Sold!
I’m also glad to see all the digital Vita games are $5 off across the board, as opposed to Gamestop’s variable discounts. I think I’m gonna cancel my hard copy of DWN and switch to the digital. $5 off is worth it to me.
Also picking up Mutant Blobs Attack and the Uncharted:GA Treasure Map Pack. Great deal on that.
And lastly, the new episode of Tester S3. Very nice, robust update this week. Too bad I have all those Sega games already, but nice for everyone who missed them first time around.

  • Also, I am really curious about two things.
    1) Why does the Dynasty Warriors 7 DLC cost more than the Xtreme Legends DLC, when they’re the exact same thing, going off the descriptions?
    2) I bought Super Stardust Delta last week by doing a search for it. Now that it’s listed in the New Release section proper, it’s not showing the little red “bought” icon next to it. Is this going to be a problem after I pick up my Vita tomorrow and try transferring the game to play it? I find it just a bit unnerving that content I’ve paid for isn’t showing up as “bought” in the store.

  • Hey.
I got a problem with last week release.
I can download the PS+ unlock key for Fatal Inertia EX but i cannot download the trial (which is necessary to unlock the full game), when i’m trying to find int through the search engine the the trial is unavailable for me and the massage appears “you can’t download this item on you account”:/
Is this some sort of PSN problem or something?

  • Why does this say FEB 21?! The store was updated FEB 22 lol it was 12:43am when I went to sleep and there was no update! Stop playing around Sony
