PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Feb 28, 2012 // Director, PlayStation Store

Hey everyone,
This week we’ve got great new PSN experiences to highlight, including new PSN Games, a great new way to access a killer multiplayer experience, and the return of a cult classic.

Click here to see the full list of nominees and vote on best PSN Indie!

This week also marks the start of the 2012 Gamers’ Choice Awards! Vote on your favorite PSN releases from 2011 by going to the PlayStation Store and select your favorite from each category. Each of the nominees were selected based on their ratings from you, the players. Voting is open for one week. Then next week, the winners of each category will go on sale. The power is in your hands; vote now! Vote at psngamerschoiceawards.com to select your favorite PSN Indie. Then check out the rest of the nominees on the PlayStation Store.

Last year, Killzone 3 exploded on the scene with an unforgettable single player campaign and a fantastic multiplayer mode. Now, that same great multiplayer mode is available as a stand alone download! Take arms and dive into visceral firefights online with PSN players from around the world. Check out the unique objective based missions in which you and your squad compete against another online squad for control of blisteringly detailed environments. It’s an epic multiplayer experience with no charge to play online on PSN. The Killzone 3 Multiplayer Mode is free to play up to level 20. If you want more, purchase the full mode from the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus subscribers, however, can get the full mode 50% off for 1 month starting today.

To round off the PSN Games, don’t forget to check out new PS3 Full Games this week include Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest. As noted earlier this week, Primal is debuting in the PS2 Classics collection. Read up on this PS2 favorite which is now available to download.

It’s the last week of February and that means it’s your last chance to download some of the best free and discounted content in PlayStation Plus! In addition to the aforementioned 50% discount on the Killzone 3 Multiplayer Mode, February also sports great free content like The Simpsons Arcade Game and Final Fantasy V. Additional free content hit Plus in February with games like Battle Fantasia, Inferno Pool and Fatal Inertia.

When will we be informed of new additions of PSP Legacy, PSOne, PS2 Classics, and PSN Cross Compatible titles being released and/or updated for use with the Vita?

Thus far I have been happy with my Vita, but I have a fair ammount of PSP and PSOne titles that are not useable with my Vita, and I would be more inclined to pay for PS2 Classics if they were to work on the Vita.

Being a new owner of the VITA I’m finding it really hard to figure out what is\isn’t compatible with the VITA. When I bought it I thought all the PS1, MINI, and PSP games were compatible, is that the ultimate goal? So far the system looks great but is a bit…uhmm…empty compaired to my kids IPOD. Also, a nice 50% off PSP games to celebrate VITA would be awesome as Loco Roco is a must buy but $24 is too much. Oh and one last request…please allow us to combine or transfer apps (once) to another PSN account. I have 3 accounts but the VITA only being allowed to hook up to one is killing me as I have VITA compatible games on all the accounts :(

BTW…Uncharted looks unbelievable on the VITA…great job!

Who decides what content available for both the PS3 and the Vita is free, and what is charged separately? Two fighting games released side by side: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 releases its DLC for both, meaning you buy for one it is free for the other. Blazblue: CSE, however, doesn’t opt for this feature. Notice how I didn’t lean toward any kind of entitlement. Still, though, the Blazblue DLC for the Vita looks like it’s already included in the game, whereas the PS3 version at least looks like something is added to the game. Could you enlighten me?

*facepalm. I can’t wait till march rolls around. The PS+ this week is lame as hell. 50% off a multiplayer portion of a game I already own (and have owned for more than a year)? Right… That makes sense. The only thing in this damn update that even remotely interests me is the PS2 classic Primal. You know an update is seriously lacking when that’s the highlight (not hating on the game). Here I thought my brand new Vita might have something to download :S

I am also a proud new Vita owner.

And, while I am happy with the new hardware, I am very troubled by the fact that I cant use my Vita to download ALL of the PSP games that I have already paid for using just my Vita.

I dont have a PS3.
I shouldnt have to feel punished because of this.

The Vita and all that came with it costs me upwards $400+. This is already ALOT for a gaming handheld.
Investors feel the same way about this. But, after buying this, I feel almost a bit cheated that I cant play 80% of the games in my PSN account that I have already purchased. Especially, the heavy-hitters. There is no excuse for me not being able to download Metal Gear PeaceWalker. That’s just crazy.

Sony I hope you are listening.

We got your back.
But, you need to have OURS too.

Win-Win right?
TOGETHER
