PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Feb 28, 2012 // Director, PlayStation Store

Hey everyone,
This week we’ve got great new PSN experiences to highlight, including new PSN Games, a great new way to access a killer multiplayer experience, and the return of a cult classic.

Click here to see the full list of nominees and vote on best PSN Indie!

This week also marks the start of the 2012 Gamers’ Choice Awards! Vote on your favorite PSN releases from 2011 by going to the PlayStation Store and select your favorite from each category. Each of the nominees were selected based on their ratings from you, the players. Voting is open for one week. Then next week, the winners of each category will go on sale. The power is in your hands; vote now! Vote at psngamerschoiceawards.com to select your favorite PSN Indie. Then check out the rest of the nominees on the PlayStation Store.

Last year, Killzone 3 exploded on the scene with an unforgettable single player campaign and a fantastic multiplayer mode. Now, that same great multiplayer mode is available as a stand alone download! Take arms and dive into visceral firefights online with PSN players from around the world. Check out the unique objective based missions in which you and your squad compete against another online squad for control of blisteringly detailed environments. It’s an epic multiplayer experience with no charge to play online on PSN. The Killzone 3 Multiplayer Mode is free to play up to level 20. If you want more, purchase the full mode from the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus subscribers, however, can get the full mode 50% off for 1 month starting today.

To round off the PSN Games, don’t forget to check out new PS3 Full Games this week include Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest. As noted earlier this week, Primal is debuting in the PS2 Classics collection. Read up on this PS2 favorite which is now available to download.

It’s the last week of February and that means it’s your last chance to download some of the best free and discounted content in PlayStation Plus! In addition to the aforementioned 50% discount on the Killzone 3 Multiplayer Mode, February also sports great free content like The Simpsons Arcade Game and Final Fantasy V. Additional free content hit Plus in February with games like Battle Fantasia, Inferno Pool and Fatal Inertia.

@52 & 53 i downloaded and maps are listed under bonus maps and why i did NOT see right away….however new maps still NOT playing even after an hour. i then connected to Call of Duty Elite and there is a 68 MB required update. i wonder if this is the problem….?? i will know shortly….Phoenix Coyotes are playing in just a bit so i might have to wait a bit.

There is definitely a problem with MW3. New maps downloaded and installed but are NOT going through rotation and the Call of Duty Elite application shows requiring an update but takes you to a page to redownload the same application all over again (if you install still results in same error). So basically – PS owners got screwed.

i think i am gonna watch hockey instead….i am tired of this s#$t….!!

Le sigh, really disappointed. Elite is supposed to organize & ficilatate (sp) player stats & importantly. Dlc releases.

Oh well, I am eagerly looking forward to Unit 13. It will be my first digital Vita purchase; I intend to play it often(=

Nice store update, sony. but, am still missing 5 psp games as fat princess, lemmings, metal gear solid portable ops, metal gear solid portable ops+ and papaton 3 to be able to download on ps3 system to copy them over to vita system. by the way, has anyone has any freezing problems on their vita? mine got froze twice today while on system setting mode, after starting up the safe mode, i chose rebuild database and message saying database was corrupted and it only took few mins to rebuilding database. good thing about rebuilding database does NOT erase everything off the memory card as thank god for that. but i did not have any other freezing problems at all on during gameplay or anything else so far so good. perhaps sony needs a good freezing fix problem on whenever the next update firmware for vita system comes out.

Tracks: 20

Sampling Frequency: 44.100 kHz

Worth it for the title theme alone, nevermind the other great tracks. :)

Great update and all (except, I don’t know what’s going on with the whole PS2 classics thing), but who prices this stuff? Deus Ex: HR for $39.99? Amazon and GameStop both sell it for AT MOST $29.99. Not to mention this is a digital copy, so inherently, it should be cheaper (that goes for all digital content vs their physical counterparts).
I love PSN and I’m a proud Plus member, but this gouging needs to stop. I just noticed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops is still $39.99 as well. Come onnnn, I mean, coooomeeee oooonnn. :)

I was thinking about getting Storm, but after watching some videos I think I’ll hold off until it drops in price. I think it’s hilarious that I’ve been seeing all these advertisements “Killzone 3 MP coming to PSN this week for FREE!” $15 doesn’t look too FREE to me.

I think I’ll find me some nice PSP RPGs for my Vita.

Just a heads up Sony, online under Best Full game you list Mass Effect 2 as an option to vote for, but on the PSN you get to vote for Midnight Club LA. If you care, my vote goes for ME2 over the Assasin’s Creed listings.

@72 userchris296

I had a freeze and the screen went black and went to the PS Vita knowledge center located on the web…I can enter the URL later if you need.

There are all kind of fixes Sony has documented how to fix.

Below is the one for a system hard reset, which solved my freeze and black screen problem immediately.

Hope it helps.

-2063-1 PlayStation®Network is busy. Try again later
C2-7952-3 Setting error Try a hard reset of your PS Vita and then update your system software: (hold the power button for more than 20 sec, and then restart the system by holding 5 sec again). Then go to [Safe Mode]>[Update System Software].

I only hope the PS4 goes digital only and if not, that they do CARDS like a vita does instead of LASER KILLING BLUERAY DISC.

I know there are no plans for PS2 to be natively played on PSVita, but is it possible to add remote play functionality to them at the very least? I don’t have any to try it with, but I assume it doesn’t work as I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. PSone Classics work this way, so why can’t PS2 Classics as well?

I had Killzone 3 ages ago, but it was stolen and I never re-purchased it. Now, thanks to having PS+, I can get the multiplayer for $7.50!! Sign me up!
But, am I understanding correctly that this comes with the map packs that have been released? No need to buy anything extra?

For MW3 Elite members you have to sign in thru the app to get the update for it and not thru the game. Went thru it last night if you try to update it thru the game it just downloads the app again but if you quit the game and go thru your app it should work it updated mine which is a 15 mb update don’t know about the new maps not a premium member.

For some reason I cant vote for the “Best Indie” (does have a “vote here” box), no problems on voting for any of the rest though.
Also, would love to see Tenchu: Wrath Of Heaven in PS2 classics some day.

I don’t know why people are complaining about the “Laser killing” Blu-Ray drive? I have had an old fat 80 gig PS3(upped to 160) since about a couple months after the release. Now, NONE of my games have ever broken because, first; one should never leave their disc in the hard-drive. And BTW, I do play about 9-13 hours a day, same game all day about 5 times a week. All my games work, even Unreal Tournament 3.
Also a question, I was level 24 in Multiplayer before I sold the game; due to lack of not being able to find even half full lobbies and acquiring the Platinum. Does that mean that I’ll be deranked down to level 20? Or will I just not level up and stay at level 24? Thanks for the feedback.
