As you may recall, we had postponed our scheduled PlayStation Network maintenance session from last Thursday to a time to be announced. It is now determined that maintenance will take place tomorrow (Sunday, March 4).
This significant PSN maintenance period is expected to start at just after noon Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 2am Pacific on Monday, March 5. Unlike typical maintenance events, consumers who are already signed-in to PSN will be signed-out, and consumers will be unable to sign in for the duration of the maintenance window. During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one.
Please stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for a notice when PSN is fully back online. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

why does psn do a lot of Maintenance???? its more than 10hrs and what do we as gamers get??? nothing! we all want cross game chat but psn has failed to give that to us…. even ps vita has it.. n its sony reads this please stop being cheap and put it
How come I didn’t get any email about this maintenance schedule? I’m a PSN member, I need at least an email or a heads-up for any scheduled maintenance.
@ 197 sony CAN’T put CROSS GAME CHAT on the PS3 because (guys correct me if i’m wrong here) the PS3 doesn’t have enough RAM to support this feature. the PS Vita does.
and @ any one else who complains about going back to X BOX 360 DON’T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON YOUR WAY OUT!!!!! no one cares if you switch!!!

ALSO REMEMBER THE PS3 CAN PLAY GAMES OFFLINE AS WELL SO TAKE ADVANTAGE AND SCORE SOME SINGLE PLAYER TROPHIES DURING TIMES SUCH AS THIS.
sony is going to do whatever they want with or without your permission so just grow up and get on with your life vidoe games are not/should not be the most important thing in your life.

Any news on why we had the scheduled maintenance anyways I haven’t notice anything “new” or better on PSN from Saturday to Monday that would warrant a maintenance period.
The maintenance period was to install and test patches that improve functionality between the ps3 and new vita and attempt to strengthen their network to accommodate the massive amount of traffic that will come with the launch of ME3, as well as other titles. You won’t really notice anything different after the maintenance because they’re not changing the visuals at all.
Why they chose to start the maintenance at noon on Sunday (instead of at midnight Monday morning and let it run until 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, when most U.S. gamers are asleep/working), I don’t know.
@209 The thing about is a good time for maintenance varies between all PSN members. A good time for 1 member maybe a bad time for another. So picking a right time will never happen.

Whoever thinks that us, the Playstation Community, should be able to listen to music off of our PS3 while we play our most favorite game, copy this comment and post it as your own so that the Playstation developers can see this and hopefully make this dream a reality!!!

Any news yet on when they’re gonna have an update to ps3 and vita so you can use remote play? I rushed out to get the vita first week so I can remote play, and what a joke that is! Come on Sony, ya should have had this patch done before the release! Get with it! At least tell us when the damn update is coming. I thought with the network maintenance that when they go back online they’d have a new update for us, and I’ve been checking every day…and squat!

it’s still down, and this is now day 3, that i can’t play online. Maybe, that original massive network crash from a year or two ago is still fresh in my mind, but Im seconds away from selling my PS3. I’ve never once heard from the mouth of someone with an XboX that their network goes down as OFTEN and for as LONG as PSN does. I’m completely over it. Get right, or just go out of business, Sony, because this is honestly ridiculous and completely unacceptable.
Scratch that. It’s back up. Must’ve come back between the time it took from when i first tried to sign in, to finding this post and typing my orig comment. But what i said, still stands. Playstation has THE worst reputation for online gaming due to their unstable network. This is my first and will be my last gaming console purchase from Sony… actually it was a gift. That’s how bad it is.
PSN is back but the store is still locked behind the maintenance prompt.
