  • Morgan,

I must join the masses in reporting that the PS3 update 4.10 HAS in fact broken the Wireless Stereo Headset 7.1 for MANY people. I work in video game retail and every week since the update has hit we have had them bieng returned by the dozens. It is quite a disheartening thing to see, considering I loved using my headset for online titles such as Battlefield 3, MW3, etc. I always support Sony ‘s products, I am a proud Vita owner (although we need to see some of the promised apps, PS1/Remote Play Support that was all part of Sony’s hype for the machine…but I digress!) but something really needs to be done about this. I am surprised that you had no clue about this, for weeks since the update I have called Customer Support and have been told by Sony Reps that it is a known problem that is bieng worked on. Believe me Morgan, I don’t doubt your claim and I know you always work super hard to keep us all satisfied, it’s just $100 dollars is a lot of money to spend to have the headset spew out white noise whilst playing half the titles in my collection. Thank you for reading, I applaud your hard work!

  • The image at the top of the post is very misleading. It includes Black Ops but the whole post says nothing about Black Ops. lol

  • I can’t believe it, everything I just said completed echoed the poster before me. We are not the same person spamming this, I can assure you. SpyderAssassin, I totally feel you on the whole retail thing…I recommended the headset to hundreds of people, and still do, but it is really embarrassing to have my coworkers (all 360 owners) sneer at me, and have customers come in angry that I sold them an inferior product, with a device that worked FINE just weeks before. Something needs to be done, this has been going on for awhile. Morgan, if you go back to the week before Twisted Metal came out, almost every new posting on the blog had numerous comments from people complaining. It has been nonstop ever since. Please, please, please try to let this issue be known!

  • I should add two things. First, I don’t know for sure about the Turtle Beach part. That’s just what customers have told me (I only own the PS3 7.1 Headset). And, second, the headsets that my roommate, neighbor, and I purchased were all on release day (9/6, I believe). As such, I don’t know if there have been any minor revisions that may account for the difference in product behavior post 4.10 patch, but I thought it might be pertinent regarding any firmware engineering considerations.

  • SpyderAssassin, I am literally in awe…you said everything I wanted to say, and more. Great minds think alike! As far as hoping Morgan reads this far down, I thought that too….he is usually great about this, so lets cross our fingers. Pretty much all we can do at this point.

  • On the following blog post:
    https://blog.playstation.com/2012/03/01/time-machine-rogue-pilot-comes-to-psn-in-march-trophy-list/

we were told that Time Machine: Rogue Pilot was going to have a demo. So…why no demo?

  • KeefRiffards,

Yeah, I just refreshed and noticed how similar your post was. Glad someone else understands the awkward position it puts you in at retail. What drives me nuts is the fact that the headset is so awesome otherwise. I have never been privy to such audio quality. MAG *feels* like a different game to me with that headset on (the ambient warfare noise is so very very crisp). I really hope Morgan sees this and bends somebody’s ear…perhaps Hirai-sans or Yoshida-san’s? I can hope ;)

  • Yeah man, once again I agree entirely. I still use the headset of course, but only for my offline only games…just platinumed FFXIII-2 and it worked fine for that the whole time. What’s incredibly frustrating are the people who aren’t experiencing the issue who are telling us that do have it that we are doing something wrong, or that we are dumb and that it works fine. I know tech, I have tinkered with electronic for twenty plus years. I was born in the mid eighties, and know how to use a computer/console/etc. I am not doing anything wrong. The Sony Reps have told me this is a known issue, since back on the first day of 4.10…then of course 4.11 came out, which I DID DOWNLOAD and it did nothing to fix the problem. Even that was like four or five weeks back if I recall correctly…..oh well, I am tired and thinking about this is just getting me bent out of shape. Good night all!

  • Yes, re: the headset: The problem isn’t that that firmware update *killed* the headset. The problem is that, with games supporting voice-chat, you now hear a load of static from noise in your own room. I guess some people wanted to ‘hear themselves’, but I really can’t see how that is useful at all. At the very least, it should have been an *option* introduced by the firmware, not default behavior for everyone.

  • Hi,

It says there was a price change for Myst, but it says:

Myst (Price Change) (PS3) (now $12.99, original price $19.99)

I searched for it in the PS Store, but it says that Myst is for PSP. Can it also be played on the PS3??

    Thanks!

  • How about giving Plus members the ability to change their IDs (at least once).

  • Journey a definitive must have for me

  • I know that my request doesn’t depend on Sony, but I going to ask anyway: it’s possible to release some Sonic avatars? I don’t know why SEGA didn’t do it. There are Yakuza avatars, Daytona USA avatars, but no Sonic… I asked already in the official SEGA Blog, but nobody cares my request. I think I’m not the only one that wants this. Everytime I hope to see this in the Store update. The only company, besides Sony, that supports avatars a lot is Capcom.

Please, Morgan (or someone else) pass my request on. Thanks in advance.

  • Can sony PLEASE for the come out and keep us updated on teh status of Vita features being released???

I feel like I got completely ripped off of $300!!! I bought this Vita thinking I could easily have my PS3 at my fingertips with the whole remote play feature, PSN games, and several different titles to pick from. Right now it’s just laughable that everyone in my dorm’s common room are all enjoying theirselves on Cellphone games that costs them $3 (Plants VS Zombies) yet I can’t play it cause it costs a Vita user $15

    Wtf is that?!?!

When is my Vita going to start showing its worth? At least post some NEWS about what the developers of Vita are DOING!!!!!

Can I at least put my Crash Bandicoot PS1 classic game onto my vita and play it without remote play (since Remote play is BROKEN!)

  • I ended up buying Journey over the weekend and played through it two and a half times. Just simply amazing. It is quite an experience. However, for any new buyers with this update that happen to see my post, I strongly, STRONGLY suggest you disconnect from PSN and play through it once while offline. It kind of spoiled the game for me playing it online the first time, because there were two different levels that I entered, and other players who had been there before me were just finishing solving that area’s puzzle, so all I got to do was run through after them. Kinda killed my enjoyment a bit. But the game is short enough, you can easily play through it once alone, then immediately play through again while online and with others. Offline and online are such completely different experiences, I can’t stress enough that you try both.
I’ll be grabbing Shoot Many Robots and a bunch of the demos. Nice update. :)

  • And again I want to see some Twisted Metal avatars please…

  • yup headset still “broke” @105 spot on description.

  • As I said once before. The Vita is selling right now so Sony is not worried so much about new updates for it.That,s why I have not bought one yet even though I really wont one. They have only come out with half of what they said it would do at launch date.At the moment my psp does more than (gaming wise) the vita.Come on Sony just get it done so I have a good reason to spend 300 for Vita, 40 for a game, 90 for a large memory card.I will do it on my end if you do what should have already been done on your end.Crono Cross (I,m playing now) would look much better on a Vita. And I have your money right here just waiting on you.

  • Ridge Race Vita demo has got to be the worst demo ever released! It’s not even a gameplay!

  • @ Headset 7.1

At first I was unsure of the problem people are having. Some just screamed to fix it. Since I know it is a open mic issue, I totaly agree. I play mass effect 3, and can’t even sit in front of a fan (the fan will overpower the game sound). But if I was playing MP (with it not playing in my ear) and stay in front of the same fan, then I would just be broadcasting that fan sound to everyone else. I don’t want to be the idiot playing MP causing static for everyone else. So I guess at first it was a way to hear what kinda crap you are broadcasting.

  • Really good update. But where the heck is I Am Alive?

  • Any word on when I will be able to play my PS One Classics on my Vita? I know Sony said “Soon” but any kind of time line would be nice. 1st quarter? 2nd Quarter? Thanks

  • Yep headset outputting mic audio to through the headset speakers – muting the mic does not solve the problem. This has been happening for a while now (weeks). Since FW 4.10 is probably accurate. I don’t think it occurs in all games, or at all points while the game is running, but its more often than not. Very annoying.

  • Seriously, when are we going to get more PSP to Vita compatibility?

  • Also, why can’t I take screenshots of my PSP games with the Vita? Why does this only work with Vita games? I don’t think it’s a technical issue.

  • @Nick930930

If you wanted to play the cell phone games like your friends you should have bought a cell phone. The last 2 years it’s been evident that Sony will over price the same game as a mini. So if you want Mini games, don’t buy them, get a iPod or Cell phone.

However, there are more game on the vita that a cell phone won’t be able to do, see gravity rush. What you have to ask yourself what experience do you want.

    @morgan

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Journey is an incredible game. While I know the posts to me will say WTH it’s $5. I have a principle. If PixelJunk, who is IMHO the best PSN developer (possibly tied with housemarque), can put out many, many fantastic games and all for $10. I see no reason to not wait out for a sale t get my price. I might have to wait 6 months to join the cool kids, but I need to watch my spending for the family.

Also thank you for reading and helping those that have issues. Makes me feel better knowing at least one employee is doing their best to help out.

  • I just wont the experience Sony themselves said we would have before the product come out.Not the watered down one we got.

  • OK, forgive me if my RIDGE RACER – Vita questions are handled elsewhere, but….

    1) If you buy Ridge Racer today (or online before April 30), and you get the GOLD PASS, does this entitle you to all of the DLC at no additional cost? Or is what’s free is just the current availible DLC?

*2) Will any of the DLC give us a proper “Career Mode” like RR games past?

I’m more interested in my 2nd question. Don’t know where to go to get any clarification. If they were to give us a “Career/Single-player-Story” mode, I would go ahead and get this. But NOT without a reliable confirmation that a DLC/Add-on would in the end give us what most of us want (assuming they don’t hit my PSN wallet too much just to have it)

    Cheers,
    Rh0gii

  • Like other people have mentioned, there is a pretty big issue with the PS Vita PS Store update. It isn’t recognizing PS+ and things that should be discounted are not discounted on the PS Vita PS Store, such as the new Motorstorm RC DLC. The discount is only showing up on the PS3 store.

  • Vita owners. It was well documented by Sony, that Ps1 classics & Ps2 classics were NOT going to be playable on the Vita at launch. So not trying to be rude, but some of you should have did more research before making the purchase. Its kind of a downer by sony, but it was out there a LONG time before launch. I still own my pspGo because of this and other things. And to everyone that is thinking of making the switch from psp to Vita, is beg of you, do some research 1st. There are lots of pros and cons, so be careful. Keep on Gaming.

  • That,s kind of true #126.Well before launch it was going to happen. Then close to launch they said it was not.I kept up with it because I was going to buy one.Now I,m waiting in hope of.

  • nice up date me like ^-^

  • If I buy the Motorstorm RC Pro-AM dlc using my PS+ discount on my PS3, is this DLC transferable to my Vita?

  • @ 129 . yes.. buy it on ps3 and the save willtranfer to your ps vita

@124. tif you boughththe game retial game there should be agold pass which gives allthe dlc that out right now free.

the second part of your question i dont know im not sure. the game was rushed that why its 25$, its almost a direct port of the ps3 version( which not a bad thing by any means) but they didnt have enought time to really add every thing so they lowerd the price and are giving a free tracks, cars away for free(with gold pass). i dont know about the future dlc, but what i do hear is some brand new cars are comign and they will add new track and old track as well. i dont if it will come down free with gold pass or a career mode.??, but i do know this batch of dlc out right now iis free with gold pass.

i dont think the digital version has gold pass only the retail version, Should u you buy it. well thats on you. read reviews and etc. thers a article here on the blog they came last week and told us. Search “ps vita ridge racer” n the upper ps blog search bar onthe right

  • I shall get journey and nothing else !

  • I love the Mexican Skulls theme.

  • Is it just me or have the PSN PS3 updates gotten extremely poor since the Vita come out?

  • Please consider this for the next updates to the PS3 and Vita, as it will require an update to both:

PS Vita: Allow people to see the comment bubble from the PS3 profile on others’ profiles on the Vita. Note that I just said see, as commenting should stay exclusive to the PS3. The limit for a comment should also be expanded to 40 characters, 20 on the top line and 20 on the bottom.

PS3: Allow people to see the panels from the Vita profile on others’ profiles on the PS3. Note I just said see, as adding a panel to a profile should stay exclusive to the Vita.

Those with both a PS3 and a Vita will have a more complete profile. Also, everyone should be able to add the flag of their country.

Of course, the trophies should also sync up with both PS3 and Vita so it doesn’t feel fragmented. Players online on their Vita should appear with the Vita icon on the PS3 for whatever they’re doing. The “floating” profiles of Vita owners at the bottom of the PS3 friends list needs to be fixed. Lastly, if someone just has the game or app queued up in the Livearea of the Vita, but not actually playing/using it, the “away” status should appear by default or the game/app should not show at all.

  • Hey, Morgan I just was playing the Motorstorm R.C. demo and I’m kinda loving it. How long will the P.S. plus discount last so I can give it some thinking time?

  • can someone tell me when the need for speed most wanted is going to be on the PlayStation network.

  • @139~Most Plus discounts last until the following PSN update. So I suggest you purchase before next Tuesday.

  • I’d love to buy Journey, but none of my credit card info works all of a sudden and I keep getting “error 80023102”. I think I tried to do it so many times with updated info that they may have put a block on my account. It’s telling me to try again in a few days. Ugh.

  • Is Grandia playable on the Vita? I’m thinking of getting it but if it’s not…then I’d rather not and just wait for a different game.

Also, I have the same question as #49 comment. When’s the Skype app coming out? There is going to be one, right?

  • Some one should mention that NamcoBandai is giving a ton of free dlc tracks from past Ridge Racer games. A total of 62 BGM tracks are available for free. That’s quite an accomplishment.

  • if only the call of duty title would go on the vita

  • I will try this again: where the heck is I Am Alive?

It was supposed to be released two days ago…
Can anyone give a good answer, please?

  • @ DION3TO

“I am alive” is on xbox this month… it is not scheduled to be released on PS3 until April.

  • Interesting stuff…… trying to gather information here are we going to get a Dark cloud collection? It seems only logical if not brilliant to have one of the best playstation 2 games to be released in HD or even ported to the Vita with touch screen placement for the world you’re rebuilding, Trophies optional, but perferred I’ve heard rumors of the collection being made but still no teaser or anything, but my hopes aren’t to high FF7 remake fell through.

  • Still no Guardian Heroes for the PSN???? :'(

  • Any updates as far as the PS One classics being available for PSVita? I know you’re probably getting tired of being asked, but I think SCEA could really increase their profit margin for starters, increase the available line-up on the Vita, and thus making it an even more marketable system! Lots of good business sense to it ;)
