PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Mar 20, 2012 // Sr. Director, PlayStation Store

Hi Everyone -

Spring Fever kicks off its second week with Rayman 3 HD! This cult classic comes with new features, upgrades and a high-definition makeover. It’s the third opus of the million-selling platforming series, created by visionary game designer Michel Ancel, the father of Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman Origins, and other award-winning video games. PlayStation Plus subscribers get this new release at 20% off!

You’ll also find this week’s Spring Fever franchise sale for the venerable Final Fantasy series this week! Many of the best Final Fantasy content across PS one Classics and PSP Games (including last year’s definitive Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection) are on sale for 30% off. PlayStation Plus subscribers get the edge with a 50% discount on these titles as well.

PSN is ready for massive battle this week as well with the releases of Warriors Orochi 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. In PSN Game Warriors Orochi 3, explore the new bonds system, online play, and an intuitive battleground editing feature and tackle legions of armies with customizable characters. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine marks the PS3 Full Game debut which takes place in Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe and features the Ultramarines chapter. With an unprecedented blend of shooting and melee combat, Space Marine’s visceral combat will leave you breathless; as well as a trail of Orks behind you.

If that wasn’t enough, Sumioni: Demon Arts inks its way to PS Vita today. Sumioni: Demon Arts is an exclusive PS Vita action platformer that taps into PS Vita’s powerful touchscreen. Using your finger, you’ll be able to draw bridges to cross dangerous obstacles, summon thunderclouds or sacred lions to attack enemies, and much, much more.

Amazing DLC is hitting the PlayStation Store as well with new content in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Motorstorm RC and more; so make sure you check out all the details below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or join the discussion on the PlayStation Community forums in the Official PlayStation Store Update thread.

I don’t know if I’m going to take advantage of the Assault Horizon DLC sale. Might not.

I don’t like this new starting trend of having to buy “online passes” for aspects of games. Like Mass Effect 3 has it and now it looks like NG3 does too….shouldn’t multiplayer be free as part of a game you’re already shelling 60$ out for? What a rip off.

/Seems they forgot Final Fantasy IX because it’s by far the worst of the three originals on PS1 and one of the worst in the series.

+ Morgan Haro on March 20th, 2012 at 3:19 pm said:

It’s usually free if you buy the game new. For example with ME3, when you pay that $60, you get the online pass included. It’s there for when people rent or buy the games used that you would need to purchase the Online Pass.

@PossessedReGan I don’t know what you’ve been smoking, but FF IX is easily ranked with the best of the series and most can agree on that.

Also the online pass comes with the game at no cost if you buy the game new. Online Passes are only required as a separate purchase if you buy a game used.

They are accurate on the Store. We adjusted the ‘normal price’ on the Store to be 30% off the old price. Then we apply the Plus discount on there as well. For example; FFIX is $6.99 now (which is 30% off the regular price of $10), and has a Plus discount to make it $4.89 (which is a bit more than 50% off of the regular $10). Make sense?

too bad the vita isnt ps1 compatible yet…

For Dissidia, is that for Dissidia 1 or 012? Because if its for the first 1 the price is wrong for original price.

Also, any word on more PSP games being compatible with the Vita? I am waiting for Birth By Sleep or Crisis core. Hopefully they come to PSN in general.

Thanks for the update guys…I always appreciate what you do. So please forgive my critical comment here…

…but Warhammer for $39.99? Seriously? It should be more like $19.99. That’s the price for it on Amazon right now and Gamefly was selling their used copies for $9.99. Now mind you their used copies are basically brand new and always come with the codes you get when you buy the game new. Not too mention this is a downloadable copy. So there is no media costs associated with it.

Just something to tell your team in charge of pricing structures.
