Update 4/3/2012: We identified a symptom that users can not play adhoc play in PSP titles if they download the system software, so we have taken down the system software temporarily. The system software will be available to download again soon.
Hi, everyone. The next PS Vita System Software Update (v1.65) will be released soon and will include the following minor enhancements:
- A “Notification Alert” option will be added to Settings, so you can toggle alerts on or off
- “After 10 minutes” will be added to the time options under Power Save Settings
- An Arrow icon will now appear when PS Vita finds new activities in the LiveArea
- Caps Lock will be supported in the On Screen Keyboard
Don’t forget: there are several ways to update the firmware on your PS Vita:
- Select “System Update” under the “Settings” menu and download the firmware directly to your PS Vita over Wi-Fi.
- Connect your PS Vita to a PS3 or a PC/Mac and update via Content Manager.

Does this also fix the sleep mode problem some people are having? i swear if i dont touch my Vita for more than 30mins and its on sleep mode it just doesnt turn on.
Umm I keep seeing all these support questions for the PSOne Classics. on the Vita. I know that they don’t work directly, but if you have a PS3 you can play any PSOne game off that through Remote Play. Heck, you can put the game in the BluRay Drive and play the game that way as well.
Though, direct download support would be nice.

• Notifications on or off, but no options to filter specific kind of notifications? Seriously? I want my Trophy-notifications to show… and I want to know when someone sends me a message as well… but I DON’T want to know everytime a friend is online. Is it really so hard to implement these kind of options?
I’ve had my Vita since launch and good lord, that OS needs so much work!

– Please wait screen # Come on we are in 2012 and we still see loading screen when we try to get online in games or any app needs net JUST DO THIS LOAD IN BACKROUND
– Youtube app with support full res of vita
– HTML5 and flash – MAKE IT HAPPEN AND VITA WILL BE BEST THING FOR SURFING ON WEB ( man this thing is 4 core beast)
– improve multitasking ( you guys great in hardware must react on software side too)
– Part,Group Messaging and Friends apps needs to be all in one app not seperate
– bubbles are not so pretty and not so ugly but with 5″ OLED sony needs to make some tweaks to artistic design of UI when people see it they must say WOW this thing is futuristic in everyway
– Make as allow to put bubbles in custom folders
– when sony first revealed vita as ngp i see home button make flash when someone send us message or our download is finished make this feature back
Wheres that support for playing PS3 games remotely at? One of the big reasons why I purchased one of these bad boys…
Ps Vita is perfect as hardware side (one of the best gaming console ever created for me ) design is perfect , screen is gorgeous , can’t wait what devs bring with back touch , near is full of potential etc …
What Vita need’s is great software with unique IP’s not ports some expections are ok like UC,GOW,BIOSHOCK …
But the Most important thing that Sony need to look for is OS for sure . Vita can be written with golden words in gaming history but Sony needs to be in action for

Sooo a bunch of previous posters indicated the update is out but my vita can’t find it and sony’s website still shows 1.61 as the current update. Is this thing released yet?

Ouch, not what almost every PS Vita owner was wanting to see. I have yet to see a reason to buy one.
I dont care about caps lock I want near to work properly and I want flash support its a jke this is not been done when I asked about it they coulnt even tell me when flash support was going to be added
Sony = Makes great hardware, but their software is years behind the competition… It is the same with the PS3, Sony it’s about time you invest more into top notch software engineers.
Vita = Great hardware, but the OS and software services around it feel beta. That doesnt cut it in this day and age where phones can do ten times more the vita. I love my vita but Sony get your game up with the Software and services support around your devices. Its the software, not hardware why apple products do so well.

And the update got removed due to bug in the installation process … i had problems installing and had to reboot and re-download a few times yesterday for it to work.
Don’t make us regret being early adopters, Sony. At least respond with an ETA on the PSOne update.
The lack of responses from the team, even the community guys, shows that Sony is just not prepared with an answer.
I hate to whine about a company not doing what I want, but this meager update is hard to swallow.

the update must have been pulled cause when I tried to update from my vita it says I’m at the current firmware also the PlayStation site says the current firmware is 1.61.
Vita sales aren’t doing too good. If we know this, you, Sony, also know this. Don’t let this awesome console falter, because you refuse to properly treat your customers, test your updates, or even bring your newest console up to the level of your 6 year old one. Your customers are getting upset, and they should, if you keep acting like this, maybe you should take this blog down, just like off road tennis.
Oh yeah, that’s all you care about. Alex saved the Psp, not killed it. Don’t make the same mistakes. Only a moron does the same dumb thing twice. You put the pieces into play, wi suite and app compatibility. Use them.

ummm my vita says i have the latest version installed already ….. 1.61 ….doesnt let me update ….and i wonder why was the minis that were given with ps plus havent been fixed …. no one can play those …. when are you fixing that :(
Wish I knew how this went from 1.61 to 1.65. Caps lock is not an update and not worth a .04 increase to anything. I am very disappointed in this update. All I really want is the browser to be improved and access to skype. The latter of which I fail to see why is taking so long. Since skype was announced over a year ago, one would think it would be available by now.
I am not trying to be a jerk, but I would love to see this thing become more useful in order to justify my purchase of the 3G model. Right now, I love the system and the games I have purchased, but I am finding it harder and harder to excuse the space the Vita is taking up in my bag.
Please communicate with us a little more openly about these issues (and others like ps1 support), a simple timeline would be nice, and would at least ease some of the ill will…
Think of it this way, all you suckers, I mean Vita owners–
When Sony decides to kill backwards compatibility altogether, it’s not like they’ll be taking away anything *good* (VCII, Peace Walker, Resistance, Kingdom Hearts)
And since you never had PSOne/PSTwo classics, they didn’t *take away* anything!

Ever since this update I can’t connect to my friends on Duodecim. Something seemed to happen with ad-hoc, since this is happening to both my friends vita and my own.
Please fix the charging issue.. sometimes when my vita is charging it says it could connect to my pc.. I’m charging it via the charger not through my pc and it stills says that :S really annoying!!
I’m upset. Sony shouldn’t have to update the Vita. I’m tired of them trying to fix the system and bring new things to it. I’m tired of them trying to make my experience better. I’m tired of them not doing what I ask. I’m tired of them thinking they can do whatever they want with their product. And please add support so I can play nearly 15 year old games on a portable gaming device that is only almost 2 months old.

PS.blog.share is useless, I scan through the vita section looking to see if my idea has been posted and I find that it hasn’t. I type it up and submit it and it says someone already posted it? So I post it anyway knowing its wrong. My Idea never gets submitted. I have done this 5 separate times for different Ideas and every time it says someone posted the idea already even though I checked and nobody has. I gave up on PS.blog.share.
It’s nice that the “Notification Alert” option was added, as this was one of my pet peeves when gaming. However, now you don’t receive trophy notifications either! I want to see when I earn a trophy, but not when a friend comes online, or other messages. Hopefully this can be implemented?
My Vita says it has the latest firmware, 1.61, as well. No update.
So far I’ve tried via Wi-Fi, and via PC … both are having that result.

I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing this but I was able to update my Vita before it was removed for “technical issues”. Now, I can no longer join my Sister in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. And My Ps3 can no longer detect my Vita during AdHoc Party. What do i do??
EU blog says this: “PS Vita system software update 1.65 has been taken down temporarily due to a technical fault. For any customers who may have already downloaded the firmware, they can continue as normal. We will notify you once the latest system software update is available to download again.”

Monster Hunter is a love-it-hate-it type of game. It is pure gameplay and no story. I got hooked because I had friends to play with me. It can get boirng if you play it alone. But once you get a couple friends to play with you, and once you get used to the controls and grinding, it can be very addictive.
How do i reinstal the firmware?
