PlayStation Around The Web: What We Read

Jeff Rubenstein's Avatar + Posted by Jeff Rubenstein on May 06, 2012 // Sr. Social Media Manager

This week’s top media hits include first looks at upcoming PSN-exclusive indie The Unfinished Swan, impressions of God of War: Ascension’s recently revealed multplayer modes, and reviews of Mortal Kombat Vita and Awesomenauts, which is currently available for free for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The team is now en route to Toronto, where we’ll stop telling you about the upcoming Canadian-made games like Sound Shapes and Dyad – and start showing you them in person. If you can make it to this free, open event, we’d love to meet you. Details here.

No Dragons Dogma? I wish that the Walking Dead episodes were once every tuesday. I bought it assuming that it would do that like a tv show does. Unfinished Swan looks cool. I’d like it to have more trophies than I see that Datura has though. Some people have no platinums or only one. So I’m sure they’d love it if it had one. You got to think of the casual gamer sometimes and just give them a platinum for simply finishing a game. As long as it doesn’t have collectible’s I should be happy with it.

I’ve been playing Mortal Kombat on my vita, soooo much fun, the only downsides is the graphics and the online not being able to let u replay an opponent the moment the fight ends.

5 reasons to get a Vita? what a joke. The reasons they listed are dumb. The real 5 reasons you should get one should be the following.

1. Remote Play
2. Backwards compatibility (ps1/ps2) (which will probably never happen. Playing GTA: Vice City on the go “without using remote play” would be a dream come true for me.)
3. High resolution OLED screen.
4. Apps
5. Innovative games (Touch screen/augmented reality, etc)

I have mine, and I love it so far, but am disappointed like a lot of you out there that some of THESE reasons aren’t a reality yet. I’m hoping we find out something by June 5.

If you guys put the same amount of effort into making the Vita a gaming machine besides a media machine it would be wroth it.

Your doing the same thing with the Vita as the PS3. You worry too much about it doing everything but gaming. Add stuff that adds to the gaming side of things. You haven’t done that since trophies all those years ago.

Its costs too much and does too little right now. And you still have to buy a memory card.

The public trophy page on the US PS site finally have no missing games! Yay!

But the trophy details only appear if I’m logged in. I don’t know if that’s on purpose or not.

With both Zen Pinball 2 and Retro City Rampage, May looks to be a great month for Vita downloads.

Still hopeful for an update on PSP compatibility soon. With Mortal Kombat Vita the newest must-have Vita title, being able to get Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play and Mortal Kombat: Unchained would be great cross-promotion.
