The Drop: Week of June 11th 2012 New Releases

+ Posted by Rey Gutierrez // Senior Social Media Specialist

Gain a new perspective as you take on the role of Kat, a strong-willed girl seeking the means to protect her future in a world that’s crumbling to pieces. Tilt and move the PS Vita, taking gravity into your own hands to deliver devastating attacks, uncover the secrets to your past and explore a mysterious world.

On PS3 and on Blu-ray, Lollipop Chainsaw is the ‘un-deadly’ story of sweet and killer zombie-hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak.

PlayStation Vita

Gravity Rush (Also on PSN) – Prepare yourself for a new perspective in Gravity Rush. Take gravity into your own hands as you take the role of a heroine seeking her past and the means to protect her future in a world that’s falling apart. Shift from streets to walls and buildings as you manipulate gravity to save a city from its enemies and perils.

Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection (Also on PSN) – Accept the mission and play three great chapters in the Metal Gear franchise with the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Included are in this PlayStation Vita package are Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. As a bonus, the original MSX games Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are included, showcasing Snake’s very first missions!

PlayStation 3

Lollipop Chainsaw – Lollipop Chainsaw is the ‘un-deadly’ story of sweet and killer zombie hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw wielding cheerleader.

PlayStation Network

PulzAR (PS Vita Exclusive) – Pulzar is a mind boggling, potentially Earth-shattering puzzle game that turns nearly any flat surface into an epic battle against time and a looming celestial event with the use of your AR Play cards. In mankind’s desperate last stand against certain catastrophe, it’s up to you to command a network of explosive rockets and try to blast asteroids hurtling towards Earth into a harmless meteor shower before they reach the planet. Using precision laser technology, you have only a limited time to program the guidance system using a series of reflectors, splitters, and filters that activate the nodes that will launch the rockets towards their targets.

Batman: Arkham City – Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security home for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.

Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Babel Rising – In Babel Rising, gamers play as God, preventing humans from building the tower of Babel. Gamers can use their divine powers by hurling bolts of lightning, summoning massive earthquakes or unleashing gigantic floods upon the Babylonians.

Dirt Showdown – An expansion on the rough-riding racing action of Dirt 3′s gymkhana competition, Dirt Showdown offers three modes focused on the wilder aspects of off-road driving: Race, Showdown and Demolition!

Just Dance 3 (PS Move Compatible) – The world’s #1 dance game is back — and now, you can play it with the Playstation Move! Just Dance 3 gives a new twist to the already spontaneous and outrageous dance game. The game kick-starts the party with over 40 tracks that span all kinds of musical genres and include popular artists like “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO, “California Gurls” by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg, and “Forget You” by Cee Lo Green. Also included are legendary favorites like “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” by Kiss. With a variety of all-new gameplay modes, tracks that allow up to four dancers to uniquely shine, and innovative cardio training options, Just Dance 3 was made to bring the party and keep America dancing!

@1 , I’m the opposite , I have bought as many as 6 games in one week – this is the longest time between buying a new game I have gone since buying the launch ps3 when there were no good games or very few for the first 6 months .

I have not bought a new game for over a month now ( last one was when they had pixeljunk eden for $1 and it was the only pj game missing from my collection . before that it was deus ex and 3 others on one day .
Just no really good games lately , at least none I want day 1 , waiting for zen pinball 2 so hope that comes soon ( at least they don’t list every last psn game release for the week on the Drop , just the retail titles and sometimes a few for psn
loolipop chainsaw looks fun but if it’s like most new releases lately it’ll be buggy and i”ll wait until I see reveivs and hear if it’s glitchy or not

Definitely plan to pick up Gravity Rush and, if it’s indeed released this week, the Pinball Arcade DLC for the Vita, with me waiting for the reviews of Lollipop Chainsaw before I decide whether or not to pick that game up.

If I already have the MGS HD on PS3 is it still worth it to get the PS Vita version? Does anyone know if the trophies “stackable” with PS3 ver. or not?

I’d really like to know if Gungnir is getting a digital release for this Tuesday too. I know it’s UMD release is Tuesday, but I want to dl it to my Vita.

+ luvtoseek on June 10th, 2012 at 9:55 pm said:

@55, Lizzie, I don’t think the trophies stack. A friend of mine confirmed (as he has the game), that there’s a seperate list- so you’ll need to aquire the trophies for this Vita version. However, the trophy list is identical to the PS3 version.

If you’re a MGS fan, he tells me the Vita version is fabulous @ 60fps & the touch controls are a great addition. As the trophies are identical to the PS3 counterport, this means it’s a tough plat. all around.

@5, vita is getting ps1 classic support with a firmware update due some time this summer, probably next month or august. Someone at E3 said that all classics currently on psn will be compatible immediately. Hopefully that’s true.

Anyway Gravity Rush for me this week, the demo was good.

I’m getting Gravity Rush as soon as it’s on the PS Store. I can’t believe the wait is finally over. This game is gonna be awesome.

By the way, is there anyway for people who buy the game digitally to get the pre-order DLC?

@59, the dev. TT is behind on the release of Episode 2. Gaming sites have written reports that they’ve played a preview build at E3- which is to say TT is still working on it. Episode 1 was a great experience but now… eh, what a mess. :/ If Episode 3-5 suffer similar delays, I’m going to avoid their titles till a whole series is completly finished.

I know Retail copy will get the Military costume DLC, but haven’t heard anything about Digital version will get the DLC (also seem unlike, since Digital standard Copy’s rarely get DLC).

Also a little thing about the Gravity Rush Demo – It has been available on Hong Kong PSN since Febuary 22, 2012.
The only difference I have seen between HK demo and EU Demo is the Icon and the manual (which was English in HK version) change to the languages the system use (Example Danish, if the Vita run Danish).

I think Walkng Dead will have same release schedule as BTTF.

@18 & 36
I was very excited about KZ1; had a $10 psn card specifically for it :(… *crosses his fingers for a remake; hd, trophies etc* oh and KZL… bundle them for $20, and support “crossplay” (ps3/vita).

*thinks aloud* “… you know how KZ3 “resumes” from KZ2; if GG were to remove the “rescue spoiler” from the beginning of KZ3, then they could glue the two together (as one continuous story), add (a visually equivalent) KZ1, and viola…

With so many trilogies in Sony’s arsenal (Killzone, Uncharted, Resistance, God of War…), in addition to bluray, they could really capitalize by putting said trilogies of one disc. The key is to (like the KZ example above) not just put “KZ1″, “KZ2″ and “KZ3″(i.e. 3 separate games) “all on one disc, for one low price” :), but to make (the 3) one game; telling the full story. Oh, and simply call it “Killzone”….

@Sony can you please put (dbz) Budokai 3 in the store, preferably as a ps3/vita “crossplay” (with trophies) game

P.S. I’m a plus member, why isn’t my “+” showing?

Babel Rising looks interesting. Hell, aside from Gravity Rush it’s the only other promising thing up there.

Lolipop Chainsaw? It honestly looks like those old Onechanbaara games from the PS2 with a better budget. I’m not holding my breath on this one. Either way, I’m renting it.
Games these days have been so terrible, Gamefly is the only group you can trust.

Cant wait for gravity rush, though the demo has been out for some time.. and the MGS HD is hitting stores and psn at the same time, sucks that they took out peace walker tho it wouldent be that hard to make a psp game (like they have) into a vita game. Because peace walker dosent work with the vita still as dd off the psn. anyway im just really looking forward to gravity rush and am wondering about its dlc as well like other menchend. will it come with all of it? and if so is it with the psn dl copy only or with the hard copy as well? i plan to get the hard copy. and my final word as always…. I ask for Xenosaga 1-3 on psn…

Can’t wait to play Gravity Rush the demo got me hooked. I want the MGS collection, really wish it included Peace Walker. Speaking of PW I wish they would update the PSP version with improved controls and maybe a texture boost to get those graphics upto Vita levels. Arkham City on the HDD yes.

Wow games, games, games keep them coming!

@White_Jackal Peace Walker does work on the Vita if you already got the PSP dl. Just redownload (DON’T INSTALL) it on your PS3 then use the content manager on the Vita to it.

The walking dead episodes are supposed to be monthly, the first ep. came in late April, here it is June, zen pinball was suppose to release the Avengers tables in the spring,, the movie will be on DVD, before you release these tables, we are pushing summer now, and yet your talking about releasing other games. Try releasing the ones you promised first before moving on to the next. Y’ all are getting extremely lame now.

@84, uh, you know, all those games you mention have to be developed, which is an extremely time consuming and expensive process, and they are being developed by different teams at different studios at different companies.

“we are pushing summer now, and yet your talking about releasing other games. Try releasing the ones you promised first before moving on to the next. Y’ all are getting extremely lame now.”

That “Y’all” you were addressing doesn’t even exist. You are a gamer, so you must have beaten a game or two; have you never noticed the credits at the end of a game before?

@36 Yeah i know all about the issues in killzone 1 but I still want to play it for story purposes though i wouldn’t mind a full remaster with trophy support. I just want to play the game and I’m pissed there’s been no word on it. And for people saying i could play on ps2, i refuse to hook up my ps2 again as its lost with all my other old gen consoles and getting my hands on the disc would be harder than the digital content.

“As many people asked in the comments, we’d like to clarify that this DLC will be available, at no extra cost, to those people who purchase the game from PlayStation Store for a limited time after launch.”

WHAT ABOUT US? Can you guys clarify if we’re getting the pre-order dlc for the digital version of Gravity Rush already? Just tell me so I know whether to get it retail or not. The Europe blog guys were diligent about it, but we still haven’t gotten an answer.
