Since its release, there have been a ton of new additions to the game, including more customization options, thousands of player unlocks and upgrades, and more. Check out Giant Bomb’s review praising its gameplay and outstanding humor. Add this phenomenal multiplayer FPS to your collection this July – free with your PlayStation Plus membership.

  • It look long enough for you guys to post this for plus members. I don’t like waiting until the day before. I know renegade ops is good since I have it on my 360. Does it come with the DLC ???

Hopefully Gotham city and Pac man are also great games I cant wait until tomorrow.

  • i was just about to buy Gotham City Imposters too! I don’t own any of these 3 games so that’s great for me. Can’t wait for Rainbow Moon though.

  • @morgan Great discounts on anticipated new releases you say…. If your talking about Quantum Conundrum I’m in!

  • I see I had every reason to be worried about the new Plus. I’m sorry but this sucks. Only 3 games a month now, no psone classics or minis, and the 3 games aren’t even big AAA titles to make up for the loss. Well if things don’t change by the time my sub runs out then you just lost a sub. I’m sure I am not alone on that either. Old PS Plus was far superior. This instant game collection thing is a sham to sucker people in with that first month wave of games only to set themselves up for disappointment.

  • Awesome! I showed a friend the benefits of Plus and he was sold. Now there’s even more reasons.

Please look into a way to sort games by adding tags, just like on the right of this blog. With so many games in overlapping categories, I’d like to find them in multiple folders when I sort by tags like “local multi player”, “retro remake”, or “zombies”.

  • Answering your questions:

#1 I think that by doing a steady feed you can please everyone easier and make it more refreshing on the PSN Store. Its hard to go through everything at once when its provided as the PSN store is updated every week with new content.

#2 I would rate the current instant game collection a 6. There are a few games that are currently up there that i really enjoy like Saints Row 2, Contra, Infamous 2, LBP2, and others. However I feel that you guys should try to get a lot of the games like Assassin’s Creed or other games that you have offered as free trial into the instant game collection as well. This might be cool. I wouldn’t mind having Darksiders in the instant game collection. So thats just something to think about.

As for this weeks PSN+ update?

I have to give it a 7 out of ten. Gotham City imposters is fun, Pac-Man and Renegade Ops show a lot of promise and their free which no one should be complaining about since you have the PSN+ to get the games. I think if you were able a mixture of some more recent and well received first and third party games that might be better.

I hope you get the chance to read this and respond, Thanks for the Update!

  • Wish I had not purchased 2 out of 3 of the new ones on XBLA right now!!

  • This is why I converted from XBOX 360. All three of these titles were on my watch list. Thank you SONY!!! :)

  • XxDG3K_ALL_DAYxX

Ehhh i figured it would be like this after the whole 12 free games last month im guessing that was a plan to get people to join PS PLUS. I already own all 3 of these games :/ you need to let us members vote on what games should be free it could be 2 PS3 games and the rest psn games take the idea you could attract more people meaning more money for you ^_^ make a wise decision SONY

  • Hopefully those who check this blog will be checking now about Gotham City Impostors, given that it was just announced as part of that one-week sale with a PS+ discount . . . and now it’s part of PS+ game library.

So, this Tuesday, anyone who tries to go take advantage of the PS+ price on the sale will not be able to do so because it will show up as a free PS+ game. If they then let their subscription lapse, they lose the game and the chance to get it at the PS+ discount.

Why even include Gotham City Impostors on both lists?

  • Are we going to see some new full retail games being released for PlayStation plus members in the coming months because all we got was arcade games and that’s okay but I thought the new thing for PlayStation plus was full retail games?

    • the new thing with Plus is the Instant Game Collection. you’ll always have an ever changing lineup of games to play is the key. but of course, you’ll get some great full game surprises

  • Fat Princess on Plus, or at least discounted for Plus, would be AMAZING!

  • Don’t get spoiled guys. The special retail game collection thing was an E3 special. Maybe next E3 we can get a similar deal. But you can’t honestly expect 5 retail games every month! I’d be thrilled to get 1 new retail game per quarter, with the rest being PSN games, and then 3 or 4 retail games every E3 as a yearly special.

  • @ElektroDragon I don’t think anyone is expecting a dozen games every month. What we ARE expecting is games of higher value than what we are getting this month if we are ONLY getting 3 games a month now. We used to get a lot more than this before they changed Plus. Some of us feel cheated.

  • I don’t own any of these games so TY VERY MUCH, but I do have one question, are the new content post going to be just the games? Because before they had the new avatars and themes on the PS Plus monthly drop posts.

Not that I will never buy games on PSN again but since I’ve had Plus I really have stopped buying/renting games and now I just buy the DLC for the free games I get. I really only buy my must have games or ones on sale that look good.

  • My HD is not ready… but seriously, i love how many ungrateful people there are here. Your getting games for free that you don’t really have to get for free and your complaining about what you get? That argument is invalid. Beggars can’t be choosers.

  • XxDG3K_ALL_DAYxX

I wish you gave us either Crysis or Shadow of the colossus would have been a better choice than gotham city impostors

    • Shadow of the Colossus and Crysis are both less than $10 this week with your plus membership, as part of the Summer Sale AND you get to keep em. Fair trade?

  • After a month of waiting to see what the “new” PS+ was going to offer on a monthly basis, this is REALLY disappointing. I was expecting at least one PS3 game a month. I’d rather have the old style of getting avatars/themes, psone classics, minis, and other PSN titles.

  • @NIGHTRAVEN Free? These people pay for a service and expect that service to at least maintain it’s quality. The quality of this service has degraded from what was once really good. We’re being fooled into htinking the change to Plus was a good one, but really they just cut our service benefits down and we’re still paying the same price for less. People have every right to complain.

  • Meh..was hoping to see some more full PS3 games, doesn’t even have to be new or recent releases. Backlog some of the games that deserve digital releases, throw in some PS2 Classics even. Gotham City Imposters was a fun beta, but not enough to where I would devote enough time to it to enjoy it, good for those who haven’t tried it though. Renegade Ops? Pass, sorry subpar game imho. But again good for those who have yet to try it. Thats the thing here, these ARE, in fact, making PLus worth the money and then some. But they are download, play a few times, move on games. Yes you too Pacman. I’ll play you and be glad I did and thankful but only a few times and then never again.
Infamous 2, LBP2 (huge one there imo) R&C All 4 One, Just Cause 2 pretty much made this “Instant” Collection a hit, subpar PSN “Gems” won’t. But again, only a single meaningless opinion I have..

Huge thanks for the Rainbow Moon discount, it didn’t need it, it will sell like hotcakes but nice one there. Supporting Side Quest and Playasiasoft by purchasing the US version.

TBC: Screw you WordPress and your limit!!

  • Dust514 beta

access for all Plus users? Good one, known, but good. My lil vote? Monthly Full PS3 games

with weekly discounts, PS2 Classic discounts, free minis..and June got a 10, July so far

soley based on these 3 new additions get a 6..two points each game.

    Bring on the rpgs, get

MGS HD Collection (PS3) release those GTA games rated by the esrb for PS3 and keep

backlogging PS3 full games along with continuing day/date digital releases and everything

    will work itself out. LOL.

  • “but seriously, i love how many ungrateful people there are here. Your getting games for free that you don’t really have to get for free and your complaining about what you get? That argument is invalid. Beggars can’t be choosers.”

Since when has a $50 subscription been considered “free”?

  • Hi Morgan!,

I would like to know about the Uncharted 2 “free” dlc you guys gave us on May 8th (price drop).

I was going to download them but they´re not free any more.

Do you know anything about it?

    Thanks!

  • I am kicking myself.
I bought PSN plus when the 12 games were announced. I was interested in Infamous 2, LBP and Ratchet and Clank mostly.
Had I known they would stay up there for this long I would’ve waited until they were about to be removed.
I could of gotten a couple more months free games out of it by waiting til August.

If anyone is thinking about buying this, just wait til they tell us they are coming down.
    FEEL SO STUPID!!

    • but you would have missed out on VF5, HardCorp, Zombie Apocalypse, awesome discounts, etc. the best solution, be a member of Plus and reap the benefits on a year round basis! =)

  • XxDG3K_ALL_DAYxX

@NIGHTRAVEN3 well some complain because they choose games that aren’t really good. To keep people renewing over and over you have to give games that pretty much don’t suck. Id switch that Gotham city impostors to either Crysis or Shadow of the colossus

  • I don’t usually complain about stuff like this but I was lead to believe that there would be twelve “NEW” games every month. Instead you guys have just changed some out. I’m pretty disappointed by this but @ least there is still the summer sale to look forward to. Still pretty bummed though cause I’ve been waiting for this post all weekend and this is what we got. It feels just like when you were a kid and got clothes for Christmas…

  • It would be much better if they had the games in less quantity and higher quality. They gave many games because of E3 and now by the way games saw only weak in the coming months.

  • I hope that at least there are good discounts for July, discounts off the summer.

  • First of all, I love plus, have been a member throughout the service apart from a few days when it failed to auto renew, I also love the full games and the “instant game collection”.

I have 2 points to make about it.

1 – You guy’s need to start advertising plus as a game rental service, as that’s what it is, with the added benefit of discounts and (sometimes) exclusive content.

2 – The huge problem I have now is buying games, I do purchase a whole lot of games from the store and I, like others, owned a fair few of them already. Now that’s ok, I love having LBP2 on my HDD now, really cool…BUT
I won’t be purchasing ANY games that could potentially be placed on your “Instant game list”. As that would be a waste of money…and yes I know I own the game when i buy it..but I pay my Plus subscription to “Rent” the games from you,,,for the most part, renting them is fine.

So how do I know/choose which ones are safe to buy and which ones are not safe to buy? I don’t and that’s a huge problem as it’s stopped me in my tracks.

Any suggestions other than “Stop buying content from the store as you might get it free to rent with Plus next month” would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks – love you guys..

    • from here on, you can count on any games being offered on sale as part of a special Store promo will not be offered in the IGC soon after. See a deal with Plus? snag it as it might be a while before it may go into IGC. But in regards to other games that aren’t on sale, well ya just will never know when it may, or may not, go into the IGC besides watching these updates. So it’s something you’ll have to decide for yourself whether you want to take the plunge on the purchase I’m afraid. Just like Netflix, I could either pay to rent a movie digitally, or wait and hope that maybe it might show up on Netflix later.

  • My only complain is: Next time, If you are gonna remove a PS3 Game from the list, replace it with another PS3 Game. Also, you have some PS2 Classics that are worth giving, like Persona 3 and Max Payne, maybe next month?

  • I can’t really say I’m happy with this update. I like that we’re getting higher quality games but the games in this update are all games I’ve tried and thought were okay but I wouldn’t have bought them and probably won’t play them much. I would have rather had Rainbow Moon instead of all these games combined.

And I hope we will still get some PS1 games and minis,I’ve really been enjoying playing minis on my Vita but i never want to by them so plus had given me a nice collection of minis to play and i would like to keep seeing new minis to play.

Rainbow moon ,a PS1 game and two or three good minis like updates used to be would have been preferable to me this month.

  • @ morgan haro

i really need to be able to sort all my PSN games titles by Alphabetical Order.
i bought over 2000$ of PSN games (150+), thats has no sense that we still cant sort our games by alphabetical order!!

  • I tried GCI a while back and was pretty impressed with it, but there was NO WAY I was going to pay $15 for it. Does anyone know if people still play it?

  • @ PowerCorruption: 50 bucks? Who said you have to pay 50 bucks a year? lets not forget that the ps+ (wile we did get 2 or maybe 3 smaller games) never originally had free games of this magnitude. This whole “instant games collection” is a very new thing. I don’t think anyone’s $50 or $17 bucks is going to net you 12 fully fledged PS3 titles, not bad ones ether ill note, on the internet no matter were you go for that matter, be it ebay or some random flea market you found on your vacation.

  • SO glad that you announced the free games before one of those same games went on sale — while FPS aren’t my favorite and I probably wasn’t going to pick up Gotham City Imposters, I would have been very annoyed to buy it and THEN get it free. While I was hopeful for some different games to show up as free (Worms Ultimate Mayhem or NBA Jam), I may have to see if I can afford those this month. I can’t tell if I’ll be excited or disappointed if either shows up free later this summer.

As for the mix of games…I hadn’t really known of Renegade Ops before this announcement. From the trailer, it has promise — I look forward to trying it. As for the rest…yeah, whatever. Not my thing, particularly the Pac-Man that’s not really Pac-Man, but somebody will like it.

  • As for the timing…I think I liked it better as twice a month. Once a month seems like you get a lot, but then you have to wait a whole month for the next thing. A smaller release twice a month was nicer — though hopefully, the smaller release schedule would include at least two new free games each time, for at least four new free games each month, rather than three as you did this month. On one hand that seems greedy, and it’s true that if you take advantage of every single offer it’s an insane value — but for any given person, many of those games are bound to be either uninteresting, or prior purchases, so we rarely get to really enjoy all the stuff that’s released. Releasing more makes it more likely that something in the mix will be something you can appreciate.

  • Not bad. I’m still trying to get through the June update of games, so I can understand this month being a little lighter but Sony don’t loosen the slack now. Keep on putting up more great games, please! Don’t let the June update be the one exception to the year. Make it the standard!

  • I love the fact that i’m getting pac-man dx doe free because i really liked the demo, i’m one of those persons that liked getting ps1 games and minis for free also, and the dynamic themes ( i really miss those), that said.. i think you should give us a poll including the possible options to become next month’s free offerings, have us vote on advance and that way people would be more content.

  • @powerCorruption you already got 250$ of free games! and you still wanted more, jizz if you dont like this plus months wait for the next month you still got 11 months of plus!

  • Rainbow Moon comes out on my birthday. Total gift to self.

  • Gotham City Imposters and Pac Man look good. :D

I would like to have a steady stream of updates throughout the month. I like how it gives me something to look forward to every week rather than just know everything at once.

As for the game collection, I give it an 8.5. I haven’t had the chance to play all of them, but they all seem like good, solid games. What I would like to see is at least one full PS3 game rotated every month and a good mixture of new/old like PS1 and PS2 classics.

  • This is really awesome and I’ve been a happy PS+ Subscriber for a while now. However you’ve created a new problem for me. Disk space.

I have the slim 250GB version, and with games in the 16GB range from here these aren’t ones I can simply re-download. Combine that with me being an active PSN customer buying things online and I’m out of space.

I’ve deleted things I can, but still with game install data and other things 250GB isn’t enough any more. You have USB ports, can you release something that would let me expand to use the 1TB, 2TB or 3TB drives that are out there?

  • Gotham City Imposters! Awesome I really wanted this game before but I decided to take a break from Competitive Online Multiplayers and get back to Trophy Hunting. I still got a lot to keep me busy.

  • @PowerCorruptionTL,DR? Your not actually playing for these games if you look at the bigger picture. There was never any “instant games collection” in the start. Wile there were 2 or 3 titles for free from the get go, smaller ones ill add, it was not of this magnitude.

  • Wow! I’m so freakin’ excited!

There will always be complainers on this blog, asking for more full games or PS1 games … just respect what they’re giving away for free!… I couldn’t care less since I bought all the Final Fantasy games (PS+ sale), and have gotten a ton since last september! I will happily renew my subscription come this fall.

Man you guys are getting Pac Man CE DX! I got it last year and it was totally worth the $5.

Now I’m getting Gotham City Imposters too?! You guys are too kind! I’ve played the beta and loved it… but didn’t want to buy the game. Now I can get it for free! I heard Renegade Ops was really good too.

    I’m a satisfied gamer!

I don’t want to list out wants, but I’d like to see more Discounted DLC. I know giving it away for free is hard, so I want killer deals on them, I have enough games thanks to Plus and it’s discounts since last september =)

Oh right, I’d list it to be 8/10. Hmm people might take advantage of this system though, or so I’ve heard. It’s cool and all.. but I dunno. I’ll nee more thinking time on this idea…. but I’m curiously excited to see where it’ll go.

  • Morgan,

I like to KNOW what is coming at the beginning of the month, but like to GET the content spread out over the month.

I like most of the games in the Instant Collection. I give it an 8 out of 10.

About half the games I’m really excited for. But I’m just me, and I’m sure there are people who don’t want the ones I want but are all over the ones I don’t care for.

  • I was thinking about getting shadow of the colossus and crysis when they are on sale this week, but i’m going to wait until they are offered for free with ps+, which they probably will be at some point in the future. I’ve been burned so many times already after buying games that show up for free soon after, guess now is a good time to start to only buy the ones i’m super excited to play and wait for everything else to show up as free.

What I really want is more cloud storage space and more sales on games with all their DLC included!

  • lol to every PS+ tomorow tryin to buy gotham city impostors at 7.50$
with the only possibility to “rent” the game

  • I would like to suggest that maybe 6 games should be offered at a time, but you can only download 3 of them.

That way you have more of a chance of having games available that you haven’t already purchased.

As it stands now it’s possible that the 3 games offered, you have already purchased, giving you nothing for the month.

I’m sure Sony wants us to continue to buy games as well as benefit from Plus+

    Something to consider.

  • Just to add, I seriously think you guy’s need to bite the bullet and just announce the games that will be available via the Plus service over the next 12 months and be done with it….

Will that effect sales of the games? Probably not as much as you think.. After all you and I both know that if a game (Rainbow moon) for example is out on the 10th to buy but you said at some point over the next 12 months it will arrive on Plus as a free title.. I would be buying it still on the 10th…..You give me, the customer the choice to purchase, play, own and enjoy now or wait up to 12months for it to hit Plus. Hey even if you said it was free with Plus this coming December and gave me a future date I would STILL be buying it on July 10th…

It seems sometimes that you guy’s are a bit cloak and dagger with hmmm yourselves! Please forward my messages to the person in charge as I don’t think anyone’s mentioned any of this to them.

    cheers

    • unfortunately we’re not in a place where we have the year’s content mapped out. If we did, we wouldn’t be able to really take in feedback from the community and adjust the roadmap so we’re meeting your needs!

but i do hear the feedback of wanting to know as early in advance as possible. will work to see what we can do.
