It isn’t required. It’s the developers’ choice. Plenty of games lack trophy support.

On that note, Kim, PUT IN SCALING PERFORMANCE OPTIONS ON PC! That, and a drop-down menu with 1366×768 (and 1360×768) included.

I wanna play it on m’ lappy, and with The Ball running well enough from Unreal Engine, yours could certainly do as well, no?

Have it for PC (woot for Team Fortress 2 bonuses!), but with no performance options, my laptop doesn’t quite handle it. Might end up getting it on here, too.
