We hope everyone had a great time in San Diego at Comic-Con! The convention seems to get bigger every year (not sure how that’s possible), and this year was especially exciting for SuperBot since it gave us a chance to reveal the newest additions to the roster for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale!
Today at Comic-Con, the SuperBot team led a lively discussion panel that gave attendees a sneak peek at the development of PlayStation All-Stars. Alongside our very own Chan Park and Omar Kendall, IGN.com’s Greg Miller joined us as a moderator to explore how the team created our super roster of PlayStation characters and environments for the ultimate cross-over brawler. In addition, they discussed alternate costume decisions, some of the different game modes available, and the concept of the “mash-up.” But of course the highlight of the panel was unveiling two new, highly anticipated additions to the roster. We are pleased to announce the inclusion of Jak and Daxter and Cole MacGrath in PlayStation All-Stars!
Initially debuting on PS2 in 2001, Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter series has seen critical acclaim and success, spawning multiple titles on PS2, PS3, and PSP. Fans have enjoyed Jak and Daxter’s signature style and varied gameplay, so we considered them prime candidates for our game. Jak and Daxter are beastly on the Battle Royale battlefield; they’ve definitely been my go-to pair lately here at the studio!
Players familiar with Jak and Daxter’s arsenal will immediately recognize some of the weaponry utilized in PlayStation All-Stars including the Blaster, Needle Lazer, Gyro Burster, and Mass Inverter. When the going gets tough, Jak has the ability to unleash the powers of both Dark and Light Jak to even the playing field, as seen in Jak II and Jak 3 respectively. Daxter even lends a hand in Jak’s melee attacks.
Representing the PlayStation franchise inFAMOUS from Sucker Punch Studios, Cole MacGrath proves to be an unlikely hero with extraordinary powers, so it made perfect sense to us for him to be in the ring alongside some of PlayStation’s heaviest hitters.
Cole takes advantage of a wide array of abilities in inFAMOUS, an experience we hoped to emulate when incorporating him into the game. He is a well-rounded fighter who is effective at both close and long range combat, and is highly mobile as well. Players can command both his electrokinesis and cryokinesis, using these powers to assault opponents from a safe distance or propel himself towards the action. With these abilities, Cole proves to be a formidable adversary for the rest of the PlayStation All-Stars cast!

Wow cole is just amazing but there something that is lacking on him, First it will be nice if there is a bad version of him, you know orange lightning with diff color of his new mariahs outfit, second the range of his lightning, it would be nice if his a long range melee kinda guy and the last is the critical strike, well i dont know if u know that one but in infamous 2 there is a meter that when it fills up u can knock up an enemy in a single strike
@63 (Nintendo still has better and manlier characters than Sony. ) really a pink puff ball and a guy that runs around with tights and a skirt is manlier please do tell….

It would be cool if there was a Final Fantasy VII Rep, either Cloud or Sephiroth, but I’m good with Sly and Cole. The only other characters that would get me excited are Sackboy and Spyro.
Things I wanna see:
Nariko and Kai from Heavenly Sword, Kai could be an assist type move with her crossbow.
Sackboy with all costumes I’ve purchased!!
Wander from SotC, and a Colossus level.
Flynn (from Sorcery) and pair him with Erline! Maybe a Sorcery stage too.
Loco Roco stage!
Bring in my character from Home and add a Home stage.
Kat from Gravity Rush.
In spite of others complaining, third party characters are good too!
Random anime characters that have had game appearance: Luffy, Naruto, Ichigo or Goku maybe. (Sailor Moon…)
Lightning and/or Cloud from Final Fantasy (I’d rather see Squall or Tidus but I know they are not as popular.)
Someone from Assassin’s Creed, my friends like it even if I don’t.

I am happy jak and daxter are in there they was the ones I wanted most when I think of ps2 those are the first things that pop in my head.
BUT I wanted to play as Daxter alone without JAK. too. Daxter could have beat dude down with his fly swater and rocket pack from the PSP game It would have been sweet as hell.
And jak alone have them be there own separate characters I like Jak but lets face it Daxter is the star of Jak and Daxter he dont need to play 2nd bannana.
OH well I can tell already JAK daxter sly and I hope ratchet and clank are my guys for this game.
OH and if you put in spyro for the love of GOD put in the ps1 spyro not that crap skylander or Legend of spyro character design.

on a seprite note cole is going to be my primary guy to play as unless Ezio or Conner from the assassins creed franchise is anoused in that case i will crap myself and prosided to try to freeze myself in ice so I dont half to wait grate job supper bot keep up the good work fingers crossed for Ezio or Coner

I was just wondering about neutralizing level three finishers. For example if Kratos uses a level three super and Cole uses his immediately after would that neutralize Kratos’s level three super because he would die when hit by the tornado (and Cole couldn’t be hit by Kratos) ? Or can only one level three super be activated at a time? just wondering.
If somehow Dart from Legend of Dragoon makes it in the game, then I bet Sony is making a sequel (again ¬_¬). XD
Nathan Hale started it all, his resistance made me fall in love with the franchise and start playing fps games (because i didnt like them last generation).
Sir Daniel Fortesque MUST be there if this game is a celebration of playstation history.
Nariko Must be there, there arent that many female characters and what a better character to put on this game, heck even Kat from Gravity Rush could be there too.

Only Jak & Daxter was any good. Jak 2 and 3 blew hard as they were victims in the movement for darker, grittier games. Naughty Dog should have made a new game instead of turning Jak & Daxter into a gun-toting time travel tale of emo Eco powers. I thought Dark Jak was eye-rollingly ridiculous, but then I saw Light Jak and my eyes rolled clear out of my head.
at 124 yea my favorite Jak and Daxter game is Jack and Daxter The Precursor Legacy by Far, its not even a competition, jak 2 and 3 were a little bit of disappointments to me
That aside, being able to play as our PlayStation Home avatars would be *awesome*.

Well, that “guy that runs around with tights and a skirt” had Ocarina of Time, in which is miles BETTER than God of War, Uncharted, and Infamous put together, heck it got a 10 out of 10.

Unless Sony puts up KOF 98um, Samurai Shodown 2, and Fatal Fury Special on the PSN, I aint goin nowhere. Deal with it. I’m still pissed at SECA for denying 2D SNK games over bullcr@p 3D overrrated garbage.
Weird: On Tuesday I beat Jak and Daxter for the first time. Then on Thursday I did the same with Infamous 2. Now they’re being announced together.
Anyway, no new stage? When’s the next announcement? Please tell me Wander is in this!

Even though this would probably won’t happen, it would be even hardcore if they put Jet Li into the roster. He did have an exclusive on the PS2 (Rise to Honor).
Very happy to see Cole. Never really played the Jak & Dexter but I know he was one of the fan fav`s on ps2 so good to see him. Well sents that was two exclusive characters. Next character might be a 3rd party character.
