The Drop: Week of July 23rd 2012 New Releases

Rey Gutierrez's Avatar + Posted by Rey Gutierrez on Jul 22, 2012 // Senior Social Media Specialist

Coming to PS3 this week, adidas miCoach brings the popular miCoach interactive athletic training system to the PlayStation 3. Many of the world’s most well-known adidas athletes are featured in the game, including Dwight Howard, Kaká, Tyson Gay, Jessica Ennis, Ana Ivanović and Eric Berry, and they will guide users through a wide selection of sport-specific personalized training programs.

On PSN, experience a brilliantly designed physics-based puzzle/platform game where you must guide a puddle of fluid to its target destination, not by moving the fluid, but by tilting the game world in Puddle for PS Vita. Foosball 2012 brings an unparalleled level of connectivity between PS3 and PS Vita, supporting cross play, gameplay continuation and offering both the PS3 and PS Vita versions together, for a price of a single game. All this and more on this week’s The Drop.

PlayStation 3

adidas miCoach – Users will receive real-time feedback on their actual in-game performance during their workouts when wearing a miCoach heart rate monitor (or any ANT+ compatible monitor).

For an even more connected gaming experience, the miCoach hardware interacts with the game, allowing users to wirelessly synchronize a miCoach Pacer and miCoach mobile app to their game console, incorporating workout data gathered while away from the game. Utilizing advanced video game console technology, users will be able to create profiles, set fitness goals and get instant analyses of workout regimens. They will choose from several sports, such as running, tennis, football (soccer), American football and basketball, as well as the athletes who guide them through hours of on-screen training and motivating game experiences.

PlayStation Network

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes – Heroes from the DC Universe join up with the Caped Crusader to root out evil in LEGO Batman 2: Super Heroes. The Dynamic Duo of Batman and Robin join other famous super heroes from the DC Universe including Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern to save Gotham City from destruction at the hands of the notorious villains Lex Luthor and the Joker. Batman fans of all ages will enjoy a new and original story filled with classic LEGO videogame action and humor as players fight to put the villains back behind bars.

Malicious – In the action game Malicious, you are a “Spirit Vessel,” called into the world by the Prophets to vanquish evil. Armed with the “Mantle of Cinders,” a cloak that can absorb power from destroyed objects as well as shift form, you wage battle with the “Malicious.”
Rather than crawling through lengthy dungeons to find and defeat enemies, this game gives you the power to select whichever stage you want and jump directly into epic boss battles in whatever order you please. Upon defeating each boss, you’ll absorb its power to obtain new and unique abilities, so the choice is yours as to how you’ll progress. In the end, however, you have one goal — prepare to face the ultimate evil, Malicious!

Puddle (PS Vita) – The player must work with friction, momentum, and the unique properties of each type of fluid and environment to send as much of each puddle past fires, rifts, potential spills and more. But watch out: the fluid motion is realistic!

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City – Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe and a reinterpretation of the events depicted in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W’s) add to the mix as players not only compete against an opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element, creating a brand new style of gameplay and breaking the conventions of traditional team based shooters.

Foosball 2012 (PS3 and PS Vita w/ PS Move Support) – Enjoy one of the most popular sports in the world from the comfort of your home on PS3, or enjoy it anywhere on PS Vita and challenge your friends in a local multiplayer for up to four players and online multiplayer and leaderboards. With support for optional single-or double-controller PlayStation Move play (standard DualShock control is also featured) allowing for tight and fast gameplay control, Foosball 2012 is the supreme experience for table soccer fans.

Demos

  • Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition
  • Puddle (PS Vita)

minis

  • Wizorb
  • Gang Wars
  • I Kill Zombies

@98, ian- if the “restore” option does not work, you’ll need to “reformat.” IF you’re able to get in to the XMB from “restoring,” quickly backup all your saves that are NOT uploaded to the + Acct. Do nothing else but that. You don’t know if the PS3 is 100% functional- maybe “restoring” only gave you this one chance before never being able to start-up again.

@100, slic- this update also includes a hefty “HD install” patch as well. IMO, I think it’s a fall release.

If Operation Raccoon City is more than $19.99 I don’t know why PlayStation would even waste time and resources to put this game up. It shouldn’t even be $19.99, that’s still a rip-off.

I am very excited for Puddle. I’ve been craving another smaller game on my Vita. Isn’t that the whole point to a hand-held device? Having smaller games to waste 15-20 minutes with, along with the awesome AAA games.

Well another dissapointing week. No news on the Vita front be it more PSP games or that PS1 compatibility that was promised months ago. Puddle looks interesting but maybe too much like a tech demo than a fully featured game.

118

+ Rik_Defiler1989 on July 23rd, 2012 at 12:45 pm said:

Awwwwwe, Trieloth is butt hurt because they don’t care about PS1 classics on the vita :(. If you don’t like it, don’t read the comments. People were promised PS1 classics on the vita, and Sony should deliver no less than that. It might be getting old, but there’s no need for you to be all butt hurt about it. That’s just dumb.
On another note, I have to say that even though it’s summer, it’s still a rather disappointing update. 2 weeks in a row too. Then again I’ve learned not to expect too much from Sony (North America anyway) anymore.
I doubt this comment will be seen by anyone from the company either, so mentioning that I’d love to see Suikoden 2 uploaded would be kind of pointless I assume. It’s just too damn expensive to get an original copy. I guess it’s too much to hope for though, even considering that Suikoden 1 has been up since forever. There’s SO many great games waiting to be uploaded that will probably never see the light of day, and if Sony was SMART, they’re consider uploading them because the profits are just sitting there, waiting to be made.

@ KemetMan72 & saab01 – “RE: Zen Pinball 2″ They said July, and there is still next week’s Store Update. Also, considering that ZP2 is an update/patch, I don’t think it would get listed in The Drop, so there’s a slight chance it will be out tomorrow, but I’m guessing the 31st. Zen hasn’t said anything about delaying, so I’ve got my fingers crossed they’ll get it out by the end of the month.

@ KemetMan72 “RE: The Pinball Arcade DLC” FarSight already said they’d be releasing the next table packs, #3 and #4, in August. Separately on their Facebook page, they said they’d be updating the trophy list and adding trophies for all previously and newly released tables in July/August, so hopefully that all comes in one big update next month.

man F**K sony and they slow lying selves. First PSone classics were promised at launch, then they were promised in the launch window then four months pass and it was promised at E3 then at the gameshow for a summer launch here we are almost in august without even as much as a freakin release date my damn psp can handle all psone games but yet the “MOST POWERFUL HANDHELD GAMING DEVICE OUT” cannot the is bull crap!!!! this was a waste of money sony shows off all these features including remote play b4 launch but then it isn’t implemented into the systems that the few 1.7 million or whatever the number is has bought and they wonder why the inferior 3ds does better maybe because it has full backwards compatibility something sony once led in heck my ps3 doesnt even play ps2 or psone disk that i have anymore. Sony do yourself a favor and dont even release a ps4 microsoft and nintendo has you # all you care about is profits and no customer satisfaction even the iphone beats out the vita as a gaming device release the freaking psone games you idiots!!!!!

To those who complain about Sony being worse than Xbox #4 in particular if you love Xbox so much and hate Sony then give up the Xbox we don’t need you trying to convert us to it, I do not like Xbox but I do not go on Xbox forums posting how much better ps3 is. FYI ps3 is still better with graphics and what we are given. 2nd herbalsticky yes it may get annoying when ppl flood about the psx updates but you know it’s not fair for you to insult them either. I mean that itself was rather immature although I understand its irritating to read. I for one am so excited for the ability to play resident evil 1-3 on my vita as well as the original FF series. 3rd to those who complain about Sony if you hate Sony that much then stop supporting them but don’t spew your trash all over this forum for Sony customers to read, it doesn’t make us dislike Sony it makes us dislike you and wish you would stop playing PS.

+ Calieb88 on July 23rd, 2012 at 8:29 pm said:

To he who got all upset about us supporting Capcom I love Capcom they are one of my favorite companies along with square and konami so yea I’m going to support them and the fact is you like them too, if you didn’t then why would you care what happens. You want them to do something FOR you so you want us to do something FOR you sorry I won’t stop supporting a company because a few gamers have to cry about changes. Don’t get me wrong RE5 was not resident evil, but it seems the fixed that in 6. Even though it wasn’t really a resident evil atmosphere game I enjoyed it, same with ORC that game is fun as well. And to those who complain about Sony not reading all these posts, well hey how are they expected to read over 100 posts hire someone to do that yea that’s not a good business practice. Yes this company can improve NO they are not as horrible as you make them you are being unreasonable and if you feel they ignore you why waste your breath? Last come on ppl were all gamers here let’s stop acting like kids and fighting amongst ourselves and be mature here.

131

+ Calieb88 on July 23rd, 2012 at 8:29 pm said:

If you don’t like the update cool post a mature opinion that means something, if you do like the update do the same, don’t argue because we all feel differently. And please stop flooding this site I’m sure Sony has read your posts. As for psp compatibility so you all know not all games compatible on the vita can be downloaded on the vita for example Sega collection and both Capcom collections need to be dl on ps3 than transferred to the vita this is how you get better compatibility if you Google you can find a more complete list. Also do not be surprised if the update for psx compatibility is delayed hackers have made plans to release the new hack when that update comes out meaning Sony will probably prolong it due to that. Anyways happy gaming everyone

I guess it’s my turn to be to voice of reason this week. I’m pretty certain the firmware update for the Vita with PSone compatibility will come soon. Summer ends Friday, September 21, 2012. It doesn’t end when school starts, when August begins, after Labor Day, or after Eid al-Fitr. What could be the problem? Well, it might be that there must be some sort of problem with a few games on the PSone Classics? Maybe some company is being greedy and asking for extra money since their games are going to be on the Vita? Maybe there is a compatibility problem with a few games? They can release it tomorrow as it is, but then you’ll be complaining about how your Vita keeps freezing playing PSone classics, how PSone saves keep deleting on the Vita Memory Card, how some games aren’t able to be played, or how horribly the FMV playback is.

135

+ joeyrpger on July 24th, 2012 at 12:34 am said:

Also, Sony, can you try to talk to Victor Ireland or any one to get Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar Eternal Blue Complete as PSone classics? Those definitely are one of the greatest RPG classics, SSSC was the first PSone game I ever owned. You could sell each for $19.99 and people will buy those gems of beauty, I will.

I really hate people that get on here weekly and ask for the same $h!t knowing that it isn’t going to magically appear or happen. Quit asking for prices on the drop page, not going to happen. Don’t ask “where are the ps1 and ps2 classics”, guess what, if its not on the page they aren’t going to talk about it or respond because it would only lead to more PR criticism. Worst of all is all the Vita crying. I have a Vita and am quite happy with what I have right now. I have 8 games and they are plenty for a system that hasn’t even been out for a year. Can they develop and advance the system before you complain?? These things take time to work out bugs and problems that goes along with cross-platform play. It would be nice don’t get me wrong but its not going to happen by “YOU” crying about it every week. These last 2 weeks drops have been terrible but its the summer drought like always. Every summer each console goes on a hiatus and may drop 1 or 2 good games for these 4 months. Been that way since I was 12 and I’m 25 now. Get over it!

138

+ BleedzOrange on July 24th, 2012 at 2:59 am said:

calieb88 please stop, That was way to much typing and you just wasted your time. You and I are the only ones who read your post. Sry man. Nobody is going to read that much.. Not even Sony…. I don’t blame them.

+ BleedzOrange on July 24th, 2012 at 3:05 am said:

And playstation never promised when cross-platform play would happen just that eventually it would happen. My guess is around Christmas when summer is done. These people at Sony have lives also and its summer. They are on vacation and spending time with there families that they prob dont see very often during the rest of the year. Get some patience and self control. You people would b!tch when cross-platform came out and say something like “why doesn’t it cross-platform with my Atari” You people are pathetic. I get on here weekly and never respond but its funny that I see the same 10 people crying weekly. Get a job or a life, play some classix or buy a game you haven’t played.

@131 Are you that stupid? Not only is the show top quality, you would get your arse handed to you in it and go cryin to mommy it’s too hard, if every game was as good as The Show this gen we would have no worries….
