Watch the GamesCom Trailer for Killzone: Mercenary

Today we’re really excited to present the first official gameplay trailer for Killzone: Mercenary at Gamescom. Designed specifically for the PlayStation Vita platform, Killzone: Mercenary is a first-person shooter that makes full use of the device’s graphical and input capabilities. It was built on the same powerful engine as Killzone 3, and it enhances the familiar twin-stick FPS control scheme with touch pad functionality for interesting new gameplay possibilities.

With Killzone: Mercenary, we want to offer PlayStation Vita owners a fresh perspective on the brutal conflict between ISA and Helghast – literally. For the first time in a Killzone campaign, you’ll be fighting alongside Helghast forces as well as ISA specialists, carrying out missions that the regular soldiers just won’t — or can’t.

As a mercenary, you’re free to decide which tactics and loadouts you’ll use to fulfill your contract; your employers will reward you with state-of-the-art weaponry and cold, hard cash as long as you get the job done. But what is the price of that freedom – and will you discover it before it’s too late?

Killzone: Mercenary is slated for a 2013 release. We hope you’re just as stoked about this new chapter in the Killzone story as we are, and we’d love to hear what you think in the comments!

  • Thank you Hermen and GG, you guys never cease to amaze!

  • Now THIS looks like a lot of love and care was put into it. I can’t wait to see/hear more about it. This is very likely a day 1 buy for me. Can’t say the same for the terrible looking CoD game.

  • Wow this looks amazingly fun I hope it has multiplayer. I was never a fan of killzone liberation but this heck yes.

  • I know this sounds awkward but it would be great if you add Zombie Helghast for survival or whatever you call it…

  • thank u sony for makin a game i cant wait for :)

  • How in the world did I miss this topic? This game looks amazing!

  • as looking forward to playing CoD after Resistance was a bit of a letdown but that has me seriously worried now (subpar graphics as well as sound)

This game on the other hand is exactly what I expected my Vita games to look like and they’ve honestly done an awesome job from what little we’ve seen so far. Glad to see you’re taking you’re time with it as I’d gladly wait for a quality game and this is looking like a day 1 buy for me.

  • I had every reason to believe that this game would be the best FPS on Vita, and based on what I’ve seen in action so far, I’m impressed.

This game will put CoD to shame, mark my words.

  • now this is impressive. this is just the beta and it already looks so developed! the graphics looks crisp and clean and the mechanics look great too. they’ve got a long way to go until they polish and perfect the game but it looks like they already have! that just goes to show the potential of this game and i’m really anticipating it. i don’t know anything about killzone, but since CoD ain’t going nowhere, i don’t it’s too late to switch teams :)

  • activision should learn from this. all of the comments are positive and everybody is on the edge of their seats waiting for this game to be released, and we saw barely 25 seconds of gameplay! the reason this game is going to be a huge success is because they actually have the original team working on this game, and it looks great!. on the other hand activation just let some unknown amateur take the reins and let them completely ruin one of their best selling franchise! there is only about a handful of people out there who are satisfied with what they’re giving us and that’s because they don’t know the vita’s full capabilities. they’re selling themselves short.

the game looks horrible and it has the same mechanics as resistance: BS which btw was a huge failure. do they how excited we were when they first announced that their was going to be a call of duty on the vita? now they give us this garbage?they should’ve stuck with treyarch. now the game plays exactly like the game that got a 4 out of 10 and now activision is letting the same people develop their best game. this game is gonna bust, they let us all down.

  • this actually might be the game that saves the vita
