As most of you know we are releasing a pretty hefty System Software Update (v1.80) for PlayStation Vita (PS Vita), which will enhance your experience and also allow you to play PSone Classics on your device.
Before the update becomes available, I wanted to take the opportunity to walk you through some of the highlighted changes and give you a sneak preview of what you can expect.
PSone Classics
We are working hard to ensure that all of your favorite PS one Classics titles will be available for download directly on your PS Vita via PlayStation Store (PS Store) as soon as possible.
Here is a list of PSone Classics titles that will be available for download on 8/28:

For those of you who have already purchased these titles, you will be able to re-download those games directly from your PS Store account or transfer them to your PS Vita directly from your PS3 at no extra charge.

Now I’m just waiting for those Mega Man X games Sony. How could such a big library be missing from your store? I know Capcom owns them and I ask them too. If I could have all the Mega Man X games on my Vita I would feel like a king instead of the slob I’m sure I kind of am.
Threads of Fate, Parasite Eve, Suikoden, and Um Jammer Lammy have copied over.

@ post 195: Ok, I understand the reasoning for the transfer method now. I am still disappointed by the fact that certain owners of Vitas without a Playstation 3 are being cut off from games they may have been waiting to play since the Vita’s launch.
Metal Gear Solid & Mega Man 2 (Jp) can be transfered from the PS3. Castlevania:SOTN can be transfered, but acts really weird with a save filed i transfered too, Alucard keeps randomnly turning into his wolf form.
I got Medievil PSOne Classic through PS+ and I can confirm that it works well on the PS Vita.
i dont know why people whining about ps1 game support..what the hell this kids!you guys wanna play those game go back to your ps1..i buy vita ONLY to play vita games and not old port games..also hope 1.80 update will make my vita better than before specially the browser and vita touch system etc funtion..keep up the good work sony
Can’t get over how many people are overreacting to the lack of PS1 games available. You’d think you just ran over their family pet or something with how ‘angry’ they seem.
Can’t say I understand where a lot of people are coming from as I didn’t buy this cutting edge system to play old games. Sure it might be nice but if it’s that much of a priority for you people that are so angry you’d just play them on a PSP.
@184 Just turn your PS3 on and collect to your Vita, then hit content manager. There’s no reason your TV needs to be on honestly. lol

Ok, here’s what worked for me:

Here’s what did not work for me:

And I was able to transfer these from the PS3.
I’ll wait to see what games are on the store before I laugh at that list. That better not be them all. And ffs, get some tech for journalists to record direct footage off the Vita. Tired of off screen videos. When it hits a year in Japan that is too long of a wait.
I transferred over legend of dragoon from my ps3 to vita I’m glad that one works… And hope Sony brings support for. Metal gear solid 1
This is a disgrace. It is bad enough that Sony made us wait six months for this feature but North America only gets nine titles? People over in Europe are laughing at SCEA over this embarrassment.

Metal Gear Solid 1 does work on the PS Vita.
What a freaking joke! Are you kidding me? SCEE releases over 100 titles and we get 9? And what’s with this favoritism for allowing PS3 owners to download PSP and PS1 games which cannot be done via the Vita? I sold my launch PS3 because it was collecting dust, since I travel a lot for work. I got a Vita instead, but Sony decides to handicap the library unless I also have a PS3. Well screw you Sony!!

A quick heads-up: the Japanese PS1 games CAN be downloaded via the PS Vita. I tried it on one game, and it worked for me (now to figure out how to get to the configuration screen for the Vita PS1 games).
@223, you should be able to touch and hold the screen while in a PS1 game to configure those settings… Just like for PSP games.
I’m confused as to why the US gets 9 PS1 games, whereas the UK gets 50+ from the very start.

@Jassyn84 : You sound like you were born like 5 years ago. Some people want what they were promised and they would like these games on the go. The PSP was able to handle these games without any problems at all and it’s an inferior portable from a tech standpoint. You wouldn’t know a god damn thing about any of that though would you?
Someone already confirmed that Spyro didn’t.
Also Final Fantasy V doesn’t work, all others do to my knowledge (still re-downloading).
Thanks for the help. That will come in handy when I put some more PS1 games on my Vita tomorrow (want to pick up another memory card before I do this).
9 ?!? We wait six months and SCEA give us NINE lousy titles?!? What the hell is wrong with this organization… YES, PSX backward compatibility with twin analog sticks is one of the MAJOR reasons I bought this system! YES, Europe are getting more than FIFTY titles out of the gate! YES, this is another in a long chain of complete screw-ups by SCEA when it comes to handling VITA. Why did they even bother with PSX compatibility at all if this is the best effort they can put forward? Pathetic…
I’ve owned every system Sony has ever released – I OWN 320+ UMDs FOR MY PSP! I thought I saw some truly asinine missteps with the PS3, but SCEA have gone above and beyond with the Vita. Not since the Dreamcast have we seen such shameless blundering… It’s like watching the Three Stooges market a video game system…

@ChuitoPR: Are YOU reading the comments? Those games can only be transfered from a PS3. Not every Vita owner has a PS3 and they honestly shouldn’t have to own a PS3 to utilize a function on the Vita. To force them to have to is absurd.
One thing I dont like at all on the vita and they didnt fix it in this update is how small the text is for your messages. It is especialy irritating when someone have a yellow color, for me, its simply unreadable at a point that i just didnt read those messages on the Vita. I dont understand why you cant make the text bigger.
Also, why I cant download videos on the background on the internet now? I have to wait for the download to finish now. It seems more a downgrade to an acutal upgrade to me.
Can anyone else put on here if their copy of Final fantasy Origins is working properly or not? My copy doesn’t do anything but sit at the Press Start Button page. No buttons I press make it do anything.

@Sevyne: this is why I call it the PS3accessory. It was annoying with the PSP, now this is just ridiculous. The amount that transfer compared to the amount thats going to be on the store is insane.
I had a PS3 and it died, so I have a dozen or so PSone classics I’d love to be able to play. Plus some that I haven’t purchased yet. I really can’t believe how badly SCEA blundered with this one.

Nevermind, it was because I switched it from digital to analog.
People! Keep in ming Final Fantasy Origins HAS to be set to use Digital output for the controller to be able to play!
