Watch the New LittleBigPlanet PS Vita Trailer; Early Review Highlights

As some of you may have seen already, copies of LittleBigPlanet PS Vita have been popping up early at various retailers. If you’ve been lucky enough to snag a copy, I hope you’re enjoying the early access! Keep in mind, the servers won’t go live until September 18th, so online play won’t be available for another day, but you can still play the game offline in its entirety. And now that you’re beginning to dig into Sackboy’s latest mobile adventure, we have a whole bunch of goodies and treats to show you.

LittleBigPlanet PS Vita has been developed by Tarsier Studios and Double Eleven with a brand new story that takes place not on Craftworld, but on the travelling planet of Carnivalia. Once the bringer of joy and laughter, Carnivalia has now been taken over by the mysterious Puppeteer and his evil henchmen, the Hollows! Now it creates joy only to steal it all back again. So, it’s up to Sackboy to save the Omniverse when the game officially launches in North America on September 25th!

In celebration of our launch, we have a brand new trailer for you, which takes a closer look at the Arcade theme, a theme outside of the main story that is entirely dedicated to a new suite of arcade style mini-games. As you can see from the video, LittleBigPlanet PS Vita goes far beyond the realms of platforming and will give everyone the opportunity to play a whole host of awesome mini-games on PS Vita.

Review Round-Up

The reviews for LittleBigPlanet PS Vita are out, and it looks like everyone loved Sackboy’s new adventure. We can’t wait until you, the community, get your hands on the game so you can stretch your imaginations with the game’s new tools and features.

Here’s a small sample of the things the gaming press have been saying about LittleBigPlanet PS Vita:

IGN9/10

“LittleBigPlanet PS Vita is the definitive LittleBigPlanet game. It’s everything you loved from the past games boiled down into a package you can play anywhere at any time. When the LittleBigPlanet community gets its hands on the PS Vita version, amazing stuff is going to happen, and the PlayStation Vita is going to have a free App Store.”

Polygon9/10

“LittleBigPlanet Vita is the best thing on the Vita to date, a perfect fit formed between the hardware and the franchise. But it doesn’t just succeed on a conceptual level; it’s polished, addictive, and precious. In every imaginable way, LittleBigPlanet Vita is a knockout.”

Joystiq4/5

“LittleBigPlanet Vita positively bursts with charm and cleverness. It’s more refinement than revolution, but that also makes it the purest distillation of the concept’s potential. It’s the best (LBP) yet.”

Sackboy will meet a wonderful and rather eccentric cast of new Creator Curators as he travels around the magical world of Carnivalia. • Hey Simon, I managed to pick up a physical copy of LBP Vita early from gamestop and there was a “Pre-Order Bonus Redemption Ticket ” included even though I didn’t pre order it and the ticket says I can get both costume packs from the code.

Is this just an online code or a combo pre-order costume/online code like some other people got?

  • “Sorry if I missed this but how much will the game be on the store, in £££ please? ;)

I may buy this on the store just for the bonus costumes if it’s less than £40. But definitely if it’s £35!”

Why are you asking that question on the US store? Europe has a store. Don’t they list the prices there?

  • This is THE lbp game to have!!!! i can make it rain :D

by the way when i try redeeming my pre order dlc using the gamestop receipt code on ps store vita USA it says it’s invalid and when i try
with the PRE ORDER DLC code that comes with the game all it downloads is an online pass o.O . do i have to wait for the servers to be up? please respond :'(

  • Will the game be downloadable of the EU Playstation Store on the 19th?

  • I was one of the people that got the Game early, I got my copy on 9/14. The Game is incredible, It is the best game on the Vita so far. I can’t wait until tomorrow when they get the severs running! I love You Sony, I love PlayStation, and I love My PS Vita! Thank you So Much!!!

  • @50 No. That is separate DLC that has yet to release.

  • DLC for LBP2 I mean.

  • There was a pre-order sale @ Newegg but it looks like the bonuses are not included. Not a big deal; I’ll grab the costumes later. The $5 limited shirt is expensive but after playing my friend’s copy- the game’s stellar. I’m buying the star shirt as a result for such a well developed title.

Amazing game. It’s portable bliss, people!

  • I have a question, the PSVITA (ultra) rare t-shirt will be available on the PS-store right? It’s not those contest thing?

  • I’m kind of disappointed you can’t pre-order the digital copy of LBP Vita this Tuesday. I guess the Vita store can’t be setup like that, so it’s still cool. Can’t make everyone perfectly happy.

    Just counting the days!

  • Awesome news guys, so looking forward to picking this up in a week. Was buying the digital version regardless of preorder bonuses (wanted to always have it on me without worry about the flash card), so getting both of those DLC packs is definitely a nice bonus :) Got hooked on it with the beta and really can’t wait to get my hands on the full version now.

  • So i am a huge fan of little big planet. i am not a very good creator but i enjoy it. my only question that i have searched forever to find (and still haven’t) is Will this game have the ability to create with friends? if not is it a possibility for future updates? thank you for reading.

  • @64 – yes, they have a trophy for a level created cooperatively …..so you’ll have fun on your moon with a pal !

  • Just dropped to say THANK YOU for bringing this game to VITA. you have all done a GREAT JOB with it.

    P.S.

could you send me a code as i was not able to get the costume for lbp beta since i,unfortunately was not able to partake in it.. (you guys sent it on spam and by the time i saw it the beta was expired) ;p

  • Will i need to buy an online pass if i choose to buy it online?

  • Is there any other DLCs for LBPV coming with the release?

  • @ZildjianKX

The World Peace Day costume released when they said it would in that post, but it didn’t show up under new releases. For some reason I had to dig through the costumes alphabetically to find it. Not exactly fair to the people who missed out on it as a result, since every other new costume has shown up at the top under new releases.

LBPV is lots of fun, but I hate the online pass crap. It’s another good lesson to know that buying my kids physical copies so they’ll still have the game when they leave home for college means that they’ll end up having to pay again to play a game that they already own. I could have spent half as much by going digital, but I stupidly wanted to support the developer of my family’s favorite franchise. Makes me feel used.

  • I have just escaped the “Clutches of Evil” (final boss level) & the credits are rolling ! it was great … I loved every minute of it – well, with the exception of a few killer areas that had me dying more than living – lol. happy for the challenge …. really looking forward to the MP experience – you need system update 1.81 to get LBP online / crossbuy going …. I did the download, but not sure it has an online community yet … I played my entire story mode solo, but going back for missed prize bubbles & 2 player coop areas will be a blast !

think I’ll pass on the $5 rare t-shirt – might consider a couple other costumes I’ve been wishing for – Ratchet & Clank & or Jak & Daxter …. a better value. assuming the costumes are available for Vita soon …. looking fwd. to diving into the community levels ! have fun out there in the LBP world ….. :-)

  • I have been playing this game for the past couple of days and I would like to say that THIS is the reason to own a VITA. LBP fits so well with all of the mechanics and features of the connect. Its intuitive, creative, and engaging while still maintaining what made LBP so fantastic on the PS3. As much as I love LBP1 and LBP2 I hope that from here on out the LBP franchise stays on VITA giving us VITA owners a solid reason to keep coming back.

  • Hey guys! Add me if you wanna play LBPVITA online!

  • I preordered and got my copy yesterday let me say this game is amazing!! im loving every minute of it..only thing im confused about is that the voucher that came in game box says its for the cotume packs but it only shows up as online pass when i redeem the code..also noticed that my gamestop reciept does not have a preorder bonus code…do i have to wait till the 25th to get the costumes??

  • [EDIT: just called up gamestop and they looked up my info and just gave me a backup code for costumes so now i have them ]
Time to go enjoy more lbp vita :)

  • does the launch space suit costume come out this week

  • Fairly excited about this. I really want that week-1 shirt! Its adorable, and you know it. Mostly excited about that bio-shock pack, though. Dang, I need a Vita, and fast.

Also, since I’m planning on buying the game when I do get a Vita, and I’m buying the rare shirt before I get the actual game, can I still wear it in LBP2? Just curious. It really is a lovely shirt.

I got my hopes up, while looking at the Littlebigplanet website, and seeing the shirt in the downloadable content section. I actually got up and turned on my playstation, ready to buy it. Until I realized it was 4:00 in the morning. I suppose they updated the site, but have yet to release the shirt. (._.)

So, I’m especially excited, because its the 19th, currently 5:51 AM, and I can’t wait much longer..

Maybe I just need sleep. But, I’ll be checking back later today, after my nap.

  • Whoaaaaa….. 5$ for the t-shirt?? I’m going to have to pass on that!

  • Wait, so the code for the costume packs is on the receipt? I tried to input the code I received from the insert and it turned out to be the online pass. I lost my receipt. Does this mean I lose my costume packs too? D:

  • I confess, I got this from Gamestop before the release date and I got my preorder yesterday but there was no code cept the one inside for an online pass, I download it and it doesn’t show any new costumes, called Gamestop and they said this is an issue with LBP, is it the fact that the store servers arent officially live yet? Also how do I get my already existent DLC/costumes over?

  • It’s already Sep 25th and I still don’t see Little Big Planet Vita as a download in PSN network!!! I like digital version so I bought a $50 PSN card so I can download LBP, if I knew this was going to happen I would have bought the physical card instead…is LBP for VITA will be available as a download or in digital form?

  • Where is the Launch Space Suit? It’s even mentioned in the news feed in-game as being available on the store now, but it’s not.

No Launch Space Suit = one unhappy sackperson. :(
