The month of October is an exciting one for PS3 gamers, with a plethora of AAA titles hitting store shelves over the next four weeks. I’m excited to announce today that eight of the hottest upcoming titles will be available on PlayStation Network the same day they hit retailers through a new program called PSN Day 1 Digital!
To celebrate the launch of this new program, we’re giving you access to participate in “digital game launches,” so you can get your hands on great games releasing in October, without having to leave home. We’re also giving you the chance to pre-order select games ahead of their release date and offering 10% discounts on a number of titles for PlayStation Plus members.
This new program aims to bring you the best PS3 titles digitally through PlayStation Network. Throughout the month of October, we will be offering the following titles for download on day 1:

Is there going to be cross-buy for NFS:Most Wanted?
Nice to see the digital downloads for the games, but SCEA really needs to add additional content to compete with the outside vendors.
Here’s an idea:
For PS+ members, preorder the game, download a day prior, free theme/avatar, and free access to all release day dlc.
Will the Vita version of Need for Speed be available too for pre-order the same way? I’m actually more interested in having the portable version of it that’s just as good looking as the console counterpart :)
My Day 1 release was spent downloading 2K13 and not playing 2K13. As a pre-order and PS+ member this should have been ready or in the process of downloading when I woke up yesterday morning. I hope this can be arranged for future pre-orders.

I still can’t wait for the day that they add party chat to the playstation instead of the pointless prvate chat that you can only do on the xmb…but great exclusives sony that is the one thing you have over xbox besides day 1 digital thats awesome as well
I’ve got Dishonored waiting for download, but my question is when exactly can I download it?
Do I get access late on the 8th for download, does it happen at midnight, or will I have to wait until later in the day?

Yeah, I put that in caps. This should be their advertisement for so-called ‘DAY1 Downloads’ — Not the LIES they’re putting out there now.
Since this is an actual PlayStation Network blog that has moderators, it would be nice to get someone from PSN to give the facts on EXACTLY (i.e. time-of-day on 10/9/12) when all of us people who pre-ordered will actually be able to download Dishonored.
Hello PSN? Anyone home?? I’ve searched, but can’t seem to find this information.
We have a thread over at the PS forums discussing the release of Dishonored. Ive been checking and so far its not available yet. And its a little after 1am 10/9 right now. Its nice to get a discount, but it sucks because I could have went to a midnight release and been playing it now.
When do these titles become available? Is it standard PSN time of 10pm on the day of release? Pre-ordered Dishonored last night and went back around midnight to download and it was not active yet. So is it truly a day one release if I have to wait until the end of the day to play? This is what I get for taking off work to play a game… :(
I pre-ordered Dishonered expecting it to be available for download by 9am on day 1, so I am obviously disappointed. I don’t think I’ll be participating in another PSN ‘Day 1 Download’.

Hi Guys, I am very pleased with this program being introduced as I’m really wanting to move to Digital Downloads for all games. I was just wondering when this might become available in Australia?
I do remember reading that the Assassin’s Creed 3 pre-order would be available a few days before the game is released so that it could be downloaded ahead of time.
Sony really seem to be putting the Sword to Microsoft when it comes to game content, and I am extremely happy with the direction Sony are taking in the Marketplace. I’ve my PS3 and Vita, and I know I chose the right platform.

I pre ordered dishonored on psn and I was very disappointed when I found out I couldn’t download it until 6pm my time so I barely got to play it on release day. I wont be prdordering anything on psn until they fix this issue.

Honestly I’m let down. I pre ordered Doom hoping it would be available at midnight. Today is my birthday and here I am reading that it could take till the end of the day to download it. Seriously disappointed, what is the point of waiting all this time if I can run anywhere and grab it off the shelf. The company needs to rethink the strategy BC I’ve seen tons of posts that many people aren’t going to use day 1 digital for unavailability. So what am I supposed to do, keep rechecking all day like I have at midnight, 430, and every hour? Get an email? I think many people have chosen to try out this new program but many won’t opt to go this way again.
I have to agree with Abola Deez Nutz. This pretty much a “Day 2” digital release. Almost 24 hours after stores are probably having some midnight releases and I could’ve taken a copy home. Sony could put the download up at least 03:00 EST at the latest to be safe. That’s still pushing it.
When final fantasy XIII-2 DLC was being released it was up on the network around 20-22:00 pst. What makes this game any different? When offering a new programs Sony should be doing anything they can to gain repeat customers. I know. I know. Sony is at a point where they’re so big they don’t give a damn about customer service. Sony will read this disagree and remove it. At the end of the day, the customers know…Sony is just a big corporation who only cares about money and will only do one thing to get it. At this point, you lost me in ever buying a pre order day 1 digital release. Thanks for being another greedy company after one thing. It’s great that in hard times company’s just get worse and worse and show that customers matters less and less.
today, is the day. Day 1 is effed up, can’t download my game on day 1, after i paid for it 3 weeks ago? hmmm, PSN needs their necks squeezed, with all the hate they spread, oh, screw u, responding to this like u have a brain? ur every action tells the mind ur j**ish deep inside. “EW” go ahead, do ur action, why pre-order a download? it’s a download that can’t happen until well after the mean kid across the street has gone to the walmart, and bought the game, and beat the game in 12 hours, way before i get to download it, when i pre-ordered it 3 weeks ago. i agree with a bola_deez_nutz, and every other angry phycho about how day 1 has stopped me from investing in ps3 all together, not only will i never spend another dime on the PSN, no more of my money will go toward anything sony (T.V. , cd player, get the picture) i’m not extreme, just done being a sucker
