The Drop: Week of October 1st 2012 New Releases

Rey Gutierrez's Avatar + Posted by Rey Gutierrez on Sep 30, 2012 // Senior Social Media Specialist

On PS3 this week, blending action and survival horror, Resident Evil 6 promises to be the dramatic horror experience of 2012. Resident Evil favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are joined by new characters, including Jake Muller, to face a bioterrorist threat on a global scale. The narrative moves between North America, the war-torn Eastern European state of Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang.

On PSN this week, you are a fantasy jester called NiGHTS and experience a heightened sense of gliding, spiraling, and looping through seven extraordinary worlds of Nightopia. When the “Nightmarens” from the neighboring dark world of Nightmare infiltrate the idyllic Nightopia, NiGHTS must defend the dream world to keep it safe for all dreamers. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams will take you in a voyage filled with courage, hope and inspiration. Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. The touchscreen of the PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system allows the player to control and arrange recruits and send them into battle or to search areas with simple finger movements, with groups of subjects easily marshaled and moved. The game world changes dynamically as Corobo’s army grows, confidence returns to the land, and the subjects return to their normal routines as the tide turns against the Nightmare.

Anyway, hi PSN Blog team. Will NBA 2k12 and/or RE6 be midnight releases or be available for pre-downloading
on Monday?

Thanks.

Rey, you mentioned Nights: Journey of Dreams in the beginning of the post. Obviously, that’s an accident, however could that be a sign that PS3 will be getting that at some point soon as well, in addition to Nights: into dreams?

RE 6! Been waiting since the first trailer was revealed! I loved the demo. Quite honestly I am one of the few that doesn’t complain about the direction the series is going. I like it. Some may call me a sheep but I have not disliked a single RE game yet.

Also, this will be a common post for me but…… The Digimon World series would be a great addition to the PS classics! =)

I’m looking forward to Resident Evil 6, Nights: Journey of Dreams, and Sonic Adventure 2. But I have one complaint. Why is there no DLC bundle for Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, since I don’t wanna buy a downloadable game in addition to DLC (I believe it should be together). I’m hoping PSN has a bundle (and not a temporary one).

how much longer must we endure the crappiest “ps2 classics” that were never classics?

I would kill for just one great rpg like Shadow Hearts or even a substandard one like Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits

+ buffpotato on September 30th, 2012 at 4:52 pm said:

Hm. Not sure if I should get RE6:Anthology or regular. Would be nice if Anthology was on PSN too(I mean it’s just an RE6 disc plus codes for PSN).

Also does anyone know how NiGHTs compares to Wii sequel? I didn’t hate that, but didn’t find it amazing at the same time. Is the first a lot better?

And futuristic harvest moon any good?

After playing the Resident Evil 6 demo, it seems pretty good, although no where near worth the $60 that they will be asking for it. Maybe I’ll pick it up when the price hits $25 or so. Also, New Little King’s Story seems pretty good. I will pick that up if the price is right. Also, how and who decides what PS2 classics get transferred to PS3? You might consider transferring titles that people will actually want to buy, such as Dragon Quest VIII, the Kingdom Hearts games, or the Final Fantasy games. Or does that make too much sense? Just curious. . .

And a good game for ps2 classic are the others Shin Megame Tensei, like Devil Summoner, and Kingdom Hearts, and obviously everione wants those 3 offline Final Fantasy games to complete the FF Collection, FF X, FF X-2 and FF XII !!!

@25 I like the direction the RE series has been going since RE4 and since the game is called Biohazard in Japan it makes sense with the B.O.W’s and zombies in the game plus the game has always had action/shooting involved that isn’t new .I don’t care if people want to call me sheep I am buying RE6 and the series was getting stale so to me RE4 saved the series.
