The Pirates! Minipack Docks at the Store

This week will see the release of The Pirates! Minipack on PlayStation Store, containing a variety of costumes from The Pirates! Band of Misfits.

Sack it to Me: The Pirates

The Pirate Captain, Cutlass Liz and Black Bellamy will all be coming to LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita this week. Not forgetting that they will also be taking to the track too, when LittleBigPlanet Karting releases next month. Best of all, you only have to purchase The Pirates! Minipack once and you’ll have access to these costumes across all three games!

LBPC9: Locomotion Commotion – Rare Prize Crown Contest

The LBPC Contest Crew is back with a brand new Rare Prize Crown contest: LBPC9 – Locomotion Commotion.

Sack it to Me: Locomotion Commotion Contest

To enter, build a motion-oriented level for your sackperson to navigate. A level where all the obstacles are powered by kinetic energy; where starting from a single power source, the obstacles are set in motion and that motion is passed on in an ever-evolving chain reaction.

It’s a chance for you to amaze with feats of engineering; make people gasp at your Rube Goldberg-esque inventions, well-oiled clockwork or magnificent steampunk contraptions. Sounds like just the right kind of challenge for our creatively minded community!

The contest is for LittleBigPlanet 2 levels only, and the winner will be awarded a Rare Prize Crown and the LittleBigPlanet Central Pin! For more details and the full rules of the contest, hop on over to LBPCentral.com

Announcing The LittleBigProgressive Contest Winners!

Thank you to everyone who entered our recent Progressive LittleBigPlanet Create-A-Level contest. Our level — LittleBigProgressive — has been played by nearly 55,000 people to date, and the levels specifically created by the community for the contest have been played by more than 34,000 of you.

We played a variety of creative entries, from platformers to shooters, racers, to pinball and even a “3D” Flo Simulator, a Diner Dash-esque arcade game and numerous “commercials” complete with voice-acting.

Well, the wait is finally over and we can now announce the winners…

The Grand Prize winner is “Flobot Loves Bundler” by VERBAL 83! For his brilliant level creation, he will be sent a shiny new PlayStation 3, a PS Vita with 4GB memory card, and copies of LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, LittleBigPlanet Karting (PS3), and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS3 and VITA).

We also have four runners up who will each receive a PS VITA, 4GB memory card, and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita: “Go With the Flo-Bot” by Alley_Cat_8633, “[V.E.R.A.]” by GIGIDY17, “Consecutive [Platformer]” by SABRE, and “The Mystery of Flo-Bot” by ANGEL-BOX.

Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you to our friends at Progressive for sponsoring the contest! Click the links above to view the level’s page on LBP.me, and be sure to check out all of these levels in LBP2.

LBP Vita is awesome so far! Do you have any information on the LBP2/Vita pack? Is it a patch that will automatically add the cross play functionality, or will it be DLC that we have to buy (or get to download for free)?

Much like our other Premium Level Kits, you will be able to play any Community Levels without the need to purchase the LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross Controller DLC.

However to be able to collect the new costumes, goodies, tools and to be able to make your own Cross Controller levels, you will need to purchase the DLC.

I love the vita game. I already aced the story mode. My wifi is too poor to collect those x2 prizes though.

@ #1, that pack will probably come shortly after the release of LBP karting. Expect it around Decemeber-> January. If it’s anything like the LBP2 Move Pack, it will add the crossplay functionality for community levels so you can enjoy them, but you need to buy the dlc pack in order to make levels using the new features OR to play the Media Molecule made crossplay levels.

I DEMAND MOAR LITTLE BIG PLANET VITA DLC!!!
Interactive tracks, items, and levels.
I hate the music sequencer as all the orchestra instruments sound horrendous.
Boo @ WiiU
There have been several entertaining Japanese levels. Our Parks is beautiful.

@Steven Isbell, regarding my first comment:

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t specific enough. I was referring to the ability to play LBP on a PS3 using the Vita as an enhanced controller. Does that functionality exist already, or is there a release date for it?

@Steven, the LBPV is great. Touch controls make this IP so much more awesome. Too bad I easily got the “dying many times” trophy. :-(
