PlayStation Plus Update: King of Fighters XIII Free For Members

Once again, we’re here to brighten your Monday with the weekly update on incoming Plus content this week. So far in October, NFL Blitz joined the Instant Game Collection and Plus members received some discounts on Alex Kidd and Spelunker. This week, please join us in thanking our friends at Atlus for delivering the legendary King of Fighters XIII, free for Plus members! These updates will take effect with the October 9th (that’s tomorrow!) PlayStation Store update.

King of Fighters XIII captured the attention of the fighting game community at this year’s amazingly salty EVO 2012 fighting game tournament. That said, we’re happy to get this deep fighter in to the hands of Plus members everywhere! With tons of play modes, a refined, faster paced engine, over 30 beautifully rendered and animated characters, all with great online play; this is one fighter you won’t want to miss. @324 This is definitely not the first fighting game from plus. We very recently got Virtua Fighter. We also got a Street Fighter. And a much lesser known cheap production value anime-style fighter that I can’t remember the name of. And that’s just off the top of my head. I think it’s safe to assume that fans of fighting games have been well taken care of and hopefully we don’t revisit the genre for a while now, because it *is* relatively niche now. Don’t get me wrong, I can enjoy the occasional fighting game with a friend, and variety is good for plus, but it’s far from my favorite genre and it is very specific in its audience, so like I said I hope we don’t see it again for a good while now.

And I appreciate the attempt at a list by Ross_On_PS to compile the NA and EU plus offerings, but I’d like to see the complete accurate lists, b/c that list seems to be all over the place and includes some of the games from the original IGC (most of the PSN ones) but not all of them (only 1 of the 7 full retail games we were given at first) and completely misses other games like Borderlands.

Then their is boarderlands. I bought it on a plus sale and only for it to go free months later and like you guys said about EU plus. I bought every full good title that is offered for free over there. I mean what good would it do me as a plus member here if all those EU plus games came here? I already own every one of them cause I always bought plus sales. I don’t now I’ve learned my lesson after Infamous 2.

I say to myself GOOD GOD and roll my eyes and shake my head 90% of the plus free games offered but not to lose out on paying for those sucky games I still hit download and then cancel the download so at least its still in my download list in cade I have a friend that is over visiting us and they want to play it I’ll download it for them to play it on my ps3. Like the blitz football free game. I HATE FOOTBALL but I still downloaded it to have it in my download list at least lol. So you and I do the same common thing there LOL.

The Walking dead episode 4 release dates are on the walking dead blog at telltale games, I dont really recall seeing any release date info on Playstation blog. I could be wrong i haven’t done a search for the info.

Please, more PS3 FULL games like Dead Space 2, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Darksiders, Dead Space 2 and Deus Ex.
No more PSN 2D games (Outland, Sidewalk, Choplifter). No more fighting games (SF II, KoF XIII, Virtua Fighter).

Please finish adding PS Vita support for PSP games on the PSN Store. Still waiting on some of the PSP games that I purchased but can’t play on my PS Vita and yes some of them are from Sony, so don’t give me the excuses of asking the publisher.

Of course simply counting the amount of retail games and keeping score that way doesn’t count for everything in my opinion. I’m very happy with a lot of the PSN games we’ve gotten. I played a heck of a lot of Blitz last night. So if we’ve gotten more PSN games than EU then that’s something to consider too. But obviously the easiest solution is just sign up for the region that is consistently giving the kinds of games you like.

Is there any reason why the store doesn’t update late at night Monday to Tuesday? The waiting in the afternoon drives me mad, every week… It would be so much better if we could go to sleep on Monday and wake up to an updated store on Tuesday… It’d be Christmas morning every week!!! :D

Since the IGC was announced at E3, we’ve only gotten those two sports PSOne games during the Olympics and no themes at all (not counting the game related themes). Any chance we’ll see any PSOne classics and themes in the future like we did before the IGC? Or is that something that we just won’t be getting with the new format of PS+? I really enjoyed going back and playing some of those classics.

The cool thing about morgan is that he only has the time to respond to the positive comments comments, maybe he only reads them and not the criticisms, that would explain why he thinks NA ps plus has good community feedback.

Sigh, once again I am dissapointed. Some useless fighting game again. While eu gets stranger’s wrath, red dead, bullet storm and resident evil 5. Like really? We don’t even get HALF of that. So this is how the ps plus will treat me.I really don’t want to result to jailbreaking to enjoy some good games.

I’m new to psn but recently bought a year subscription for psn plus. I love what you guys are doing and the wide variety of games. I even liked Blitz because you really don’t have to like football games to have fun with it., so nice choice there. Keep the goodness coming. :)

Of course it makes sense in a poll about PS+ Vita content to ask people if they even care about Vita content at all.

There may be some of us who’d rather not get any Vita content since they just not into handheld gaming devices.

To me adding Vita content to PS+ inevitably means we are going to get less other content, which means I’m much less likely to get my money’s worth out of PS+.

Maybe I’m in the minority, could very well be, but the poll doesn’t ask, so it won’t provide any measurement of how many people are like me.

They may tell us ‘no no no, this doesn’t mean you will get less PS3 content’, But get real, that’s simply not true. That’s simply not how things work. You pay a fee and expect a certain value for it. The more of the stuff that is supposed to make up that value is worth 0$ to you, the less of a ‘good deal’ you are really getting.

Since whether PS+ is now worht what you are getting is a bit touch and go already, I don’t really want further devaluation of the plan for my type of user. So I would appreciate at least being included in the poll.

But I understand you really want Vita content, so you’d rather not hear from people who do not share your point of view.

I voted for ‘Discounts’. I would have voted instead “I do not want Vita content”. But that is not an option. Since I don’t care about Vita content, voting for what people probably are least interested in was my only option. To try and approximate what I really wanted to say with my vote.

I have a Playstation Plus memebrship on Israel (EU) PS shop and I got no game update this month and I don’t have this game either.

Why is that (no game update at all)?

I have a suggestion for plus. how about offering either 1 full size game OR 2 smaller ones amongst a selection of a few. Kinda like how you gave us a choice of games after PSN came back online. I think this would appeal to gamers across PLUS not just vita. seeing as how we get fewer updates now it would be great.

And if i can make one other suggestion, how about letting us share games we purchase with our sub accounts. Both my kids have vitas but I do not feel like paying for a game 3x.

Lastly, I voted for cross platform games. Sometimes my schedule allows me to take my vita to work. And i can’t help but think how great it would be to continue on my quest while I am stuck at work/ traveling/ kids took over the ps3 etc.

@Slick_T. I agree whole-heartedly with your #339 comment. We wouldn’t have voiced our opinions if we didn’t care about Sony as a company and PlasyStation Plus as a community. PSN is called PlayStation Nation for a reason. We are the citizens. We make up the nation. It’s not a dictatorship like XBox Live that says: “give me your money or you don’t get into our network!”

I know this is hard to take, Morgan, but always remember that we are not attacking you or Sony. It’s nothing personal. We’re trying to let the company know what direction we would like to see US+ is going. Note that all of us ‘trolling’ here never once said in definite term that you should give us this game or that game, rather we just want games that are on the same level as the EU+ or suggest games that we feel are on that same vein. That’s why in my earlier post I said I am not going to complain about KoFXIII because it is a blu-ray full PS3 title, and that is was a pleasant surprise.

And yea, @Slick_T, it’s the same with me as well. I own every single PlayStation console, portable or otherwise that has ever been produced as well as most of the accessories that comes with each console. I dropped more money on PSN in a year than I did in 3 with Steam (but then again Steam games are cheaper during their sales *hint hint*).

@YungShep (#341). Agreed. I own both RE5: Gold Edition and Bulletstorm as well (unlike some who thinks that we only know how to ask for free stuff and never actually buy any games). It’s not that we are greedy or demanding. It just feels like when compared to EU+, we are getting the short end of the stick.

I probably shouldn’t be saying this but… never mind. If next week’s Plus update sucks again, I’ll tell you guys something to make everyone feel better. See Morgan, I’m helping!

Morgan, bro, you’re misunderstanding the complaints regarding EU PS Plus. I’ve seen you state a few times that you’re aware that EU gets more games than the US, but I haven’t seen a single person say that they’re upset about EU getting more games than US.

We’re not disappointed by the number difference; we’re disappointed by the title quality difference. This isn’t personal opinion, either. These are well-received, praised games that the masses would enjoy, which EU got, and US did not:

Read Dead Redemption: the 21st highest-selling game for PS3 ever
Dead Space 2 sold almost 2 mil copies in its first week
Deus Ex: HR sold almost 2.2 mil copies within 30 days;
Bulletstorm sold over 1 mil copies within 30 days.

Now let’s look at top sellers that we did get:

Borderlands: Over 2 mil sales within 60 days. Was also released to EU.
Just Cause 2: 1.5 mil sales within 30 days. Was also released to EU.

I couldn’t even find a 3rd title that we received that had sold over a million copies shortly after launch, and I didn’t go through the full list of EU games, so there are likely more top-quality best-sellers that they’ve received, that we have not.

We do not want more titles. We want better quality titles.

There is a much wider selection of PSP games to choose from. It would make sense to put PSP games in PS+ for Vita. A new to the Sony portable world Vita owner would enjoy games they might have missed out on.

Vita only games would be nice. There isn’t a large selection of games to choose from, and what they do choose many will have already purchased so all we will hear from is the boo-birds.

I’m also fearful that Sony will listen to the shiny graphics folks that says they bought a Vita to play high tech new generation pretty graphics on and will ignore the incredible games the PSP has/had to offer.

Cool update ps+ is really paying for itself. KoF in addition to the other titles is great. I can’t wait to see what’s going to be offered for the Vita. Little big Planet (yeah I know its new) or Wipeout 2048 (Classic greatness) would be awesome, especially since they show off the ps3/psvita cross play features (ps3 already has Little big Planet 2 just add Wipeout).

Thanks Atlus. Although I already have bought the game on release, it would be nice to seen new players online.

As for PS Vita Plus, I would like some DLC for Vita exclusives. As for games, how about Mortal Kombat and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Since they are already on PS3 and cheaper on it than the Vita, I would like to see at least a discount.

If that seems too much, I agree with #50. Include PSP Collection page or PS1 Collection. I just hope they take good consideration in these possibilities because most of my friends are waiting on buying a Vita till they see something more worth it.
