New PlayStation Store

Content not final and subject to change.

Today we began previewing a completely redesigned PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3. We’ve listened closely to your feedback and used it to build a brand new PlayStation Store. With a stunning new user interface, simple search and powerful content discovery, it’s an in-store experience that’s more streamlined and accessible than ever before.

PlayStation Store now offers more than 20,000 pieces of game-related content including downloadable games, add-ons and themes and more than 100,000 videos and TV shows. With so much to choose from, the redesign offers easier navigation to locate the perfect game, video or application. Product pages will deliver in-depth information about games and videos, while providing an amazing high definition visual experience found only on PS3.

Will the download list be fixed? The chronological order would always get all out of whack!

I hope discounts get prominent space in the new playstation store.

It would be awesome if someday there was a “Daily Deal” section on the playstation store. I’d log in every day to see what it was.

Glad to hear the downloads list will be cleaned up in the future.

@96: I actually like the idea for the boxart. It would actually influence me more to get the digital version. Right now I don’t get digital versions of retail games because I can’t actually see the cover. If I were able to see the cover of the game when I bought it or see it in a download collection, it would make things alot easier.

But at the same time, I assume it will take up alot of room on their servers.

The new update looks great. But I really hope that the update also include an updated downloaded list. Or a page where I can see my collection. Everything I bought from my psn account. Currently it’s a mess and very troublesome to scan my all my download list.

Oh and please make sure there’s still a “What’s New” section we can always jump into every Tuesday like before. We wont survive without that!

@ Morgan Haro

I Know this may seem off topic and random, but you really should suggest to the higher up in sony to release a special ps3 bundle that comes with a 1 year subscription of ps plus and advertise the hell out of it. It would defiantly make the ps3 more appealing in the market. It just seems bizarre that Sony hasn’t done it yet. I know your doing assassins creed 3 and call of duty ps3 bundles, but if I was a regular consumer walking around browsing for some entertainment system and to see Ps3 bundle + 1 year ps blus that describes the features it provides such as online storage and free games for 1 year, it grab my attention more. Just thought id throw it in there, there’s alot of people who haven’t jumped on the ps3 bandwagon yet.
Keep up the great work!

A 1 year Plus bundle is quite the deal. Currently we’re looking at getting more 30 day Plus trials into system bundles. I think you’ll see it in bundles like AC3 and Uncharted 3, etc.

One more thing, IMO Google really messed up their app store when they converted it to “Google Play”. This relaunch is very reminiscent of that one. Here’s hoping you studied that and learned from their mistakes.

Just a few things… I have RE5 gold via PS+ (UK) but that’s beside the point…

Will we get a list of purchased items so we don’t have to go hunting to see what we previously bought? If it’s already there then I need to learn how to use the store better :-P

I liked the way you separated the PS+ bits into sections but it would be better if we didn’t have to keep entering different parts and instead sort it by platform or by month/date… the same for purchased software would be good also :-)

Morgan/Kristina,

PSN should let you have the ability to change your PSN name. I made this name in 2006 and I would like to be able to change it. Charge 5 or 10 bucks it’s easy money for Sony.

No change to the download list? That’s a huge disappointment. Doesn’t Sony realize what a pain that thing is? Just add a search option for it. I’ve had my account a long time. My download list has 964 items on it. It takes forever to find something if I want to go back and download it again. At least a search option would help.

+ passivefamiliar on October 11th, 2012 at 2:14 pm said:

Funny SO many people are more hyped about resident evil 5 being free, when its not confirmed, actually denied. Anyway… i mostly just want a search or more prefered a FILTER for my downloads/purchases. Like, ‘demos”videos’ full games’ minis’ etc etc. Because after 300some downloads including avatars/backgrounds. Finding a old game i want to play again gets annoying. Maybe the ps4 can come standard with a 2TB memory? One can only dream. Looks ok though, not enouh screens for a teaser. And a ps+ beta would’ve been a good idea. ommunity feedback will beat any testing that was done. But here’s hoping. Im more worried about performance and pricing compettitiveness then i am aesthetics though. I want more demo’s, more digital day 1 games, and them to be CHEAPER then retail, even if only cheaper for plus members and if only $10 they’d get alot more sales. Digital is the new thing sony needs to get in front of it. Tv/movies need a price drop too. None are very competitive. And older games need more frequent RE-pricing, My longwinded opionion is over. Kudos to anyone who read it.

Nice! Can’t wait to see the new store. Please do consider adding Downloads List filters and sorting too. I know the Qriocity site appeared to have been attempting it some time ago.

Will this store be PS Move compatible? Being able to point and click with the Move to move around the store would seem like a no brainer with this new layout.

+ ElektroDragon on October 11th, 2012 at 2:16 pm said:

I really liked the OLD store design, it was much cleaner and easier to navigate than the horrendously bad Xbox Marketplace that you are now trying to emulate. Please don’t make it as bad as the Xbox Marketplace, where there is ZERO subcategorization so if I want to look at new DLC it spams me with 5000 RockBand songs and I never see the DLC I’m looking for.

+1 on adding a cart to the Vita PSN store. A real pain trying to pay for multiple items at once, especially with your $5 minimum credit purchase requirement.

And PLEASE look to integrate this store with the Vita. A unified design for your store would make it easier for users of both to know where to find what they’re looking for and how to find it without having to deal with the PS3 store differently than the Vita store.

Looks great. Two things: please please fix the horrible download list. It’s dreadful and practically impossible to find things. I have five years of things built up there and I can’t sort any way except the default reverse chronological order. Also, put the design language of this new PS3 store into the Vita store. The Vita store is nice, but very barebones in terms of sorting, filtering, and so on. Make it look similar and work like this one.

Your response to Questioning a better Download list & etc….

The download list won’t be changed on Day 1 with the new Storefront, but it is something we’re looking to improve in the future.

My Response is this is crap Sony knows its a issue but not doing anything to push forward with this….I have over 2000 Downloads ranging from Demo, Add-ons, Games & etc Plus I’m on PS+. I have called Sony every single month since last summer telling them we as PS3 Users NEED a Search Bar + Fliters on the download list… So unless you can tell me sometime like we are adding it soon this month Or its going to happen I don’t believe this response. I want Action in place not words that shut us up cause its pissing me off. I’ve been told on the phone that you can find everything you have downloaded using the PS Store Search Bar, but no not true not everything. For an Example #1) Pre-order DLC almost never released for everyone and the only way to redownload it is find it in your long Download list. Example #2) PSN games ranging from PSN Only to PSP, PS3, PSVita all can Expire from the store and so if you did buy it then you have to go to you long download list.
I expect a Response to this comment plz.

Looks ok, guess ill have to try it to see how it is.
I do hope at some point the Download list gets a filter option (Full games, Demos, Add on’s ect}

Also does this mean ill be able to re download stuff from the video store , I downloaded a few episodes of Eureka Seven AO, watched, then deleted them a few weeks later. Then a friend of mine wanted to watch it so I tried to download them again, only to find out that I could not redownload them

all you have to do is go to store look for red box redownload !! any simpleton can figure that out !! no one has 2000 games in there download list ! 70% are demo !! you know what games you have ! if playstation sent you gold bars you would find something to cry about ! ( the gold’s not the right color or eu got silver !! ) come on guys we can’t get every thing we want ! 99.9999% of the time you cry about stupid things ! grow up people !

I share my account with my Brothers man they download stuff they want. Plus as I said not everything you download you can find on the store Cause they either expire or the are a Pre-order DLC…I rest my case.

@147

if you purchased a movie before, the first thing you should do is backup the movie on the ps3, or your pc, once you back it up.

after you back it up, just load it back on the ps3, it’ll never appear in the download list after you buy it, but you can back it up and keep it as long as you feel.
