  • The new layout is pretty and the store doesn’t load as slow as I’d heard from other regions so good job on that.

BUT: The add-ons section is now completely useless. 90% of my time in the store before was spent browsing add-ons by game title, an option that I cannot find anything remotely like in this new store.

instead there are nonsense categories for add-ons such as ‘weapons’ or ‘levels’ etc…

This new layout for the Add On section makes no sense and now, not only do I have a next to impossible time browsing the store for fun (which often leads to purchases, which is something you want), I find the attempt to look for something in the store makes me want to stop using it entirely.

I stopped using the Xbox largely because of their Dashboard makeover, and the new PSN store seems to be built the same way. Looks pretty, but it’s confusing and I can’t find anything I’m looking for unless I know the exact name to do a search…

  • I first loaded the Store and it was a bit slower. However, the last two accesses have been much better. Streaming Video is much better as well. It’ll take a little to get used to, but a lot seems to be improved.

It seems that Games and Videos are split now after their mini-update. I like the new look and it runs smoothly on my old PS3 (40 GB version). Love the automatic Full Screen on movies and the screenshots on games!

Needs some polish in searching area, but it’s moving in the right direction.

    Keep up the good work!

  • To everyone who’s saying its slow, well no duh, the ps3 is seven years old. My guess is they got this update out because they are getting ready to launch ps4 in 2013. I like the new store, except for one thing. Download list, offer options for us to filter/organize it. Thank you.

  • Kinda slow and I feel it kinda hard to find what your looking for. Plus there no new release area where you can look at all the updates for that week.

I like the old store a lot better. I think you should make our store like japans. I like how psp games are gold outlined and ps vita games are blue outlined. It makes it easier to look around.

  • I’ve been tooling around in the new store, though I haven’t bought anything yet, since I have what I want currently. It’s certainly interesting and will take a little bit to get used to. One suggestion that I have is, the old store allowed you to choose the way of displaying content, blocks with a picture, or a list of just names. I’d like to see that option implemented in the new store. The big blocks take up too much space, I’d rather just see names. Also, it seems that we can only apply one filter at a time, I’d like to be able to apply multiple filters.

Speaking of filters, found a few games that don’t have the right tags applied, when applying the Accessories Guitar filter, Retro/Grade should be showing up, as well as the Guitar Heroes.

  • Complaints I have:
    1) Sound. It’s making more sounds than a computer on NCIS.
    2) Add-on section. Why in the world would you remove searching by game? That’s the main reason you’d go to that section.
    3) Alphabetical ordering. At the very least, segment the games out by a group of letters, as the original store was. I would prefer it being grouped by each letter, but having every single game, video, and add-on in the same massive list makes finding what you’re looking for a daunting challenge.
    4) Typing. I like the idea of removing the letters as you type, and showing a preliminary list of items, but overall, it’s incredibly slow, and the list of letters that you have to scroll through is not ideal. I really like the idea, but please put in a QWERTY keyboard for us to type on.

    Things I’d like to see:
In addition to the alphabetical grouping mentioned above, I would really like to see something in the add-on section like a “Browse by Installed Games,” or at the very least a customizable list that we can add games into that we can exclusively search by (in addition to the other searching methods, NOT instead of).

  • To those unable to find how to see new releases, you can either sort by release date, or go to Games> New on PS3> All New Releases

  • As for the Add On Section, all you need to do to find the add ons for a specific game, is to go to that game’s page, the add ons are all there.

  • Grace, I think there exists a phrase thay Sony/SCEA should really familiarize themselves with. Don’t fix, what isn’t broken. This new store is somewhat annoying to navigate with things being harder to find or things not even grouped right. The previous store version was far better and organized. Hell, it even loaded faster. Please, seriously consider bringing back the old store.

  • The new store is a downgrade.

  • Really the only problem that i have with the new store is that all the add-ons are a jumbled mess. And that the search function only seems to show games that can be purchased on the store. For instance when you try to search for Sleeping Dogs you can only input “Sleepi” and then you cannot input anything else and all it lists is a movie called “let sleeping dogs lie”. Sure it’s a new store which will have some issues but you should have run a BETA of it prior to release so that we wouldn’t be stuck with crap until you get around to fixing it. As the store sit’s right now finding add-on’s for my games is more of a time-sink then its worth.

  • I really loved the new store. It’s faster than the previous one and it’s easy to find the DLC’s. I must say thank you to the team who worked on this!

May I suggest one simple thing? To remove the word “JERK” from right side. “Open to Everyone But Don’t be A Jerk”, I find that phrase a bit aggressive although I know that many cannot behave themselves.

  • It’s also probably worth noting that I’m experiencing extremely slow loading times for loading a list of games or previously downloaded items. I’m on a hardlined fiber connection (50Mbit down / 50 Mbit up) — it is most definitely not a ISP issue.

  • My opinion is it straight up sucks. However, nobody will help make Sony turn the store back to original. No matter how much we complain, we never get anything changed. I’ll use Playstation Home as an example. They had an old space called Central Plaza. I know tons and tons of people complained and wanted it back, and they never did or will. Sony is a great company when it comes to making great stuff. However, when they clearly screw up with something, they never bother to fix it.

  • Guys just calm down, you haven’t learned nothing about Sony? I think that they will be releasing updates in order to enhance the new Playstation Store, maybe they will add the “search” option in the Download History List, enhance the loading time for the Store, etc, just relax and let’s wait!

  • Btw when will be fixed the Sonic Adventure 2 Free theme?

  • JPMCH im tired of waiting. Spent too much money/time on here to just wait and wait and wait for the same crap, as probably are many other psn users. Just saying.

  • Also would like to mention: If anyone who is upset like me with the new store or the long load times, or to anyone that doesn’t know. If you go to Account Management > Transaction Management > Download List, you can see all of your stuff in the old store format with just a darker blue design and still a faster load time.

  • The new store sucks.

  • Love the new look. Fusion between the old PlayStation Store and Video Unlimited.

  • The store does look nice indeed. However on the first PS3 (don’t have money for a new one and don’t want to change) it takes about two minutes to load up and it’s lagging extremely. The old store would open right away when I clicked the icon and I could scroll all the content without an interruption.
I case of functionality I don’t see any difference. That mostly because our store doesn’t have movies or TV shows or music here in Switzerland. Just games and two or three apps…
So my summary (for the Swiss store): New awesome design but a lot slower.

  • I like the new store and I don’t know about you guys but everything loads up fast for me. The start up time needs to improve and I think the amount of clicks just to buy something needs to be reduced. But all in all I like it

  • GIVE ME OPTION TO GO ON THE OLD STORE!!
I HATE THE NEW STORE IT TOTAL BS!
I DONT WANT TO PLAY IN GT5 MENU!
    WORST LAYOUT EVER…
JUST GIVE ME AN OPTION TO GO TO THE OLD STORE!!
AND THE WORST PART IS WHEN U GO IN PS+ SECTION
YOU CANT SEE ANYTHING EXECPT THE PLAYSTATION PLUS LOGO AT MORE THAN HALF OF THE TOP SCREEN!

  • SOMEONE HELP I UNDATE AND NOW MY STORE ISNT WORKING

  • I like how it shows everything for the game like when you select a game it shows the add-ons, videos and wallpaers. Nice don’t have to leave and search to see if there are adds for it. Could prob use a lil work.

Also takes some time to load.
My download history is in a different order than before, it use to show the games in order of what you purchase last. (unless there was a way to change the order, didn’t know if there was).
It’d be nice to have it the old way or Alphabetical. (I’ll check to see if i CAN do it myself prob not, but it’d be nice)

  • Love the new store. It takes a long time to load up (47 seconds last time I tried it), but once I’m in, it seems to load much faster. A good trade-off IMO. I managed to get to a list of every avatar on the store, scrolled through it and the images loaded up instantly when I stopped. I haven’t encountered any lag when backing out of certain things. The old store had this annoying problem where after you downloaded or bought something, that little clock in the corner would need to spin for several seconds before you could do anything. That appears to be fixed (my number one complaint with the last store).

I would add a “by game” option for add-ons. I suppose you can go to games, then find the add-on from the game page, but I still think it should be available from the add-on category. A “free” filter would be nice as well.

I also noticed a bug that should be fixed. I downloaded demos for Payday, Outland, and Renegade Ops before they were offered in PS+. I’ve since gotten all three through Plus, but they are displayed as “Free” instead of “Purchased”. When I click the Buy option, I just get a message along the lines of “this content is not available at this time”.

Anyway, great job PS Store people.

  • Now I understand why they ran that get 20$ back in november if you spend 100$ in october promotion…

With the new store it’s so hard to find anything (especially to browse add-ons when you don’t have 1 specific exact item to get via search) that many of us won’t be able to/will get too annoyed to spend our 20$

  • Love the new store layout! My only problem was when looking in the PS Plus freebies section, the top half of the screen was pretty much just “Playstation Plus Freebies”, and like a row of icons below it. That thing needs to be much smaller. Otherwise, the store kicks ass.

  • I have many ideas for improvement but the two biggest ones I can offer is an option to use the old store for those that prefer it and the bigger of the two ideas would be for us to be able to send messages while in the Playstation Store. It’s always been annoying that we have to exit the store to send a message. I was hoping this would get changed with the new store but it’s an ongoing issue.

Also, nearly forgot this, the store currently takes much longer to load than the old store. Please fix this as this is one major reason why people want the option to use the old store.

  • They way it’s organized is really strange. Not able to to organize the menu by game, or just having a giant list in certain orders makes it really hard to navigate.
I can’t find certain Avatars or Themes. In-fact none of the Avatar Bundles can be found. Not even the ones exclusive (or price-dropped) for Plus members.

  • The new store suck, i want the old one back, if not i feel like i will visit the store much least then before.

  • The new store is very…different. Although people are responding negatively to the changes, there are a few satisfied folks as well. Probably the best improvement you could make to the store is, you could allow those users, such as myself, who are frustrated by the new store to switch it back to its original configuration. That should please everyone.

  • WHAT DID YOU DO?! WHY can’t I see every item related to a game? The sounds are awful, the interface is awful, and you just lost the $50 I was going to spend until I change it back. I want to be able to sort by game. For everything. Like I have been able to for the past 4 years I’ve owned a PS3. I want to be able to click ‘Assassin’s Creed 3’ and find the option to buy the full game, all DLC, demos, trailers, themes, etc. I can’t do that now.

WHY THE F*** NOT?!?!?!?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!?

  • You guys really dropped the ball with this. There’s games missing, for Christ’s sake!

  • Never mind. I’m blind. This’ll do.

  • …Well, it’ll do after you fix the horrible sounds.

  • Wow, so much hate! I actually really, really, like the new store! I find it to be less convoluted and redundant as the previous store. I like how there’s tons more info displayed. The loading was find for me but I’ve noticed a tiny bit of lag here and there when navigating through pages but I’m sure that’s something that can be fixed fairly easily.

I think folks need to calm down, stop freaking out, take a deep breath and just read the sections. It makes a lot more sense than the old store. I can actually find stuff that I’m looking for! New sorting options are great too. I like the different categories as well.

I don’t have many complaints about the new store. Sorry if it’s irritated some people, I don’t really see what the big deal is. The old version was kind of an eyesore and many of the menus took you to the same places over and over.

I just hope the new store can be optimized a wee bit to help reduce some of the tiny lag I experienced.

  • IM NOT SOLD ON NEW FORMAT,, CONFUSING / REPETITIVE/ NUMEROUS DUPLICATIVE CATEGORIES/ SEEMS ALL CRAMMED TOGETHER,, WHEN GOING TO LOOK AT CATEGORY ITEMS THEY ARE REDUCED TO 12 AT A TIME, ON ONLY A PORTION OF THE SCREEN MAKING IT A LITTLE HARD TO SEE ,,EVEN ON MY 60 INCH ,, AND THEN IF YOU WATCH A MOVIE TRAILER OR VIDEO IT KICKS YOU OUT OF THE STORE TO VIEW ,, THEN YOU HAVE TO RE-ENTER THE STORE AND FUMBLE AROUND TILL YOU FIND THE PAGE YOU WERE ON .. XBOX LIVE FORMAT IS SO MUCH BETTER AND I HATE XBOX SO MUCH ,,, I CAN USE WHAT YOU HAVE PRESENTED ME WITH,,BUT IM NOT PLEASED ,,, NO LOVE TODAY SORRY

  • Multi-Comment Post Warning!

While I appreciate the attempt at the design the new store for me has a few gripes (as most new things tend to have before they are polished ^_^).

    1) Modifing filters on a long list can be a bit of an annoyance as you need to scroll back to the top to do so. Creating the ability to “Go to top” or “Go to bottom” like a lot of websites do would be simple and very effective to combat this small issue.

    2) While having filters is nice, and so is combining types of items in a list is too, allowing for a multiple filter selection would make this much more effective. Much like filtering on the website where you use the check boxes to allow for an inclusive list (Though I think the option for a cross exclusive list would be nice in that page, IE check PS3 + PSP + Exclusive would show only cross platform items between the two systems etc.).

  • 3) Graphics are nice, but in suffering for loading times it can become an issue. Balancing these two aspects to coincide with the average system and broadband connection (Often less then 1mbps for the average DSL user) would be nice. Simply put using imaging that has been web optimized could fix a lot of lesser graphics from having load time issues and would be of little to no concern or notice to the average consumer.

    4) While I do like the list on the side, having it double up on itself is quite annoying. Having a simple button to go back is nice and all, but since that is already there having the compounding is not necessary in the least. Fixing this would also be more pleasing to older system owners as well since it would allow more screen room for text and imaging.

  • The new store is definitely a novel idea, and it has a great amount of potential as well as expand-ability. A little polishing, some user experience comments (Preferably constructive, constructive goes a really long ways with devs people! Trust me as I do website and software myself and the last thing that makes me want to improve something is someone bashing it instead of giving back ideas and why things don’t work politely!) , maybe even a little localization for certain regions and cultures, and this thing can be a great success as well as a platform for future service ideas for *gasp* future systems. ^_^

  • ummm, where are the Christina Lee and Kevin Butler videos?

  • This new store is trash, I understand wanting to improve a customer’s experience, but this is a downgrade. Sure it looks slick, but is appearance everything?

All games on old store, the way I used to shop. Oh hey, it starts with an “S,” I go to S, then pick my game, all the DLC is right there at the top, I could even choose a single column, three rows, hell, five rows (my personal preference) with the Square button. If the game had a lot of DLC, say Street Fighter x Tekken, they would be neatly filtered by DLC type on their own individual pages, a sense of logic was used.

Now, all games gives me 1495 results ON ONE PAGE. So I need to search, well, search works, but it gives a ton of results for matching words. Ok, fine, I can deal with that, not much work really. I get to SFxT’s page. Over 100 pieces of DLC in a single column listed alphabetically……….AWESOME!! Yes there is filtering on DLC searches, but it is awkward. Why can’t I go to a single game page, and find a neat list of the stuff I am interested in?

  • To finish things up, I will spend the $20 I get from last month’s promotion, and it will probably take me four times as long as it would have in the past, however, I will not be funding my wallet with real funds until this is more user friendly. This is one step forward, five steps back Sony.

  • I feel like throwing up why did you do this to us. . .I cant even do anything in the store . . .I just got out of the hospital for liver problems 2 days ago and now this.

  • Its a good step forward, not too bad. I however do have issues with this.

    1. PS STORE is now its own add-on/app, NOT integrated to the PS3 system firmware, please update this.
    2. Download list filtering still not here
    3. Store is a bit of a mess. More organization would be nice.
    4. Store sometimes crashes and take me back to the XMB randomly

Other than that I like it, great re-design.
P.S. now how about giving the XMB the make over its been rightfully deserving?

    Thank you, SONY

  • I have spent the last couple of days going over the store and I love it, I know its a first on this site but I have no complaints whatsover. Keep it coming.

  • Forgot to mention

    ADD PAYPAL for funds.

PS3 EU and other countries have this option already, please PS NA needs this, and I would feel much safer with my personal info as well.

  • Too busy. Too confusing. Slow load times. Video’s won’t play. Navigation is difficult. So far, I don’t like it at all. How about testing this stuff on real consumers before ramming it down our throats? I’ll probably get used to it, but I don’t have to like it. The old store was fine. Easy to navigate, easy to find what wanted, no load times and more. Change isn’t good when you cut off your nose to spite your face. But, change is the only constant in life.

  • can you bring back more old games to the store now so I can get ones that I miss playing?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
