PS Plus members can snag another free game this week as Quantum Conundrum enters the Instant Game Collection. There’s also a Timed Trial for Counter Strike: Global Offensive in case you missed it when it was only available via Automatic Download back in August. Rounding out the Plus member goodies this week are a few discounts on Machinarium, Choplifter HD and Super Stacker Party.

As always, please leave your thoughts in the comments below. You can also chat about this update in the PlayStation Community Forums.

God of War: Ascension Beta Update

PlayStation devotees who purchased God of War Saga for PlayStation 3 received a special 30-day PlayStation Plus voucher, which encouraged them to redeem on November 13th for exclusive access to the God of War: Ascension Beta.

Please note that the Beta will not be available today on the PlayStation Store. Development on Ascension and its exciting multiplayer content continues at a feverish pace, and an announcement regarding a Beta launch date is forthcoming.

If you are not currently a PlayStation Plus user and were planning to use the voucher included with the God of War Saga in order to access the PS Plus Ascension Beta, please do not redeem your voucher until the as-of-yet unannounced launch date. This will ensure that the 30-day PS Plus trial will afford you as many days of access to the Beta as possible.

Stay tuned for further updates regarding the Ascension Beta, and thank you for your ongoing support of the God of War series!

  • I like the two latest PS+ freebies, finally some good, interesting games! Too bad you have to go to the PS Store to get them…

Seriously Sony the new store design is a complete MESS!! Today it took probably a good couple of minutes to get into the store and be able to navigate! I thought it had crashed the PS3 first when all I got was the background picture, nothing else, then after waiting and more waiting the store finally showed up… and that’s on a 12Mbps connection… WTH

As if that’s not enough, you have to go through like 4-5 extra steps in checkout in order to download free PS+ games, why do I need to see page after page of $0.00 total for something where no payment is needed??? Completely redundant and 100% annoying.

Then you have the other weird issues like my old PS+ downloads not showing as purchased in the new store…

Come on, you have waited for years to release the new store redesign, and now when you finally do we still get this buggy mess?? Just unbelievable.

  • @ Grace:

Hi there! Sorry for dropping by like this. I’m a European (Italian, to be specific) PS user. I’m posting this comment in order to beg for help.

I’ve bought a PSP back in 2008 with my main interest in the console being the possibility to play PS1 games anywhere. However, out of the PSOne Classics I already owned in their original format (and wanted to be portable), a very-late Crash Bandicoot 2 was the final addition to the Crash trilogy and that was it.

Now that it’s almost 2013, I’m willing to settle with the original Spyro trilogy, which Jawad Ashraf of the European blog claims will become available as “PsOne imports” (US versions) because technical issues ultimately prevented the European versions to work. Okay, but now it seems the planned October release of said trilogy has been further pushed back due to the very same QA issues (weird considering it’s the same content that’s been already available on the US store for two years now).

That said, my question is: can you guys at SCEA help the European store with its rather lacking selection of PSOne Classics?

Thanks in advance for reading and (maybe) answering. If you don’t, it’s cool, but I’ll probably re-post this next week.

  • @ Morgan:

If Grace doesn’t notice my comment above, can you give it a read, please? Thanks in advance.

  • Neptunia Mk2 Uni avatar appears to have a problem. At the bottom of the avatar, her arms appear to be transparent. I hope someone who knows where to go with these problems notices, because I sure don’t.

  • Can someone make Activision/Nihilistic aware of the multiplayer connection issues people are having with Black Ops Declassified? I don’t have connection troubles with other Vita games but this is a mess that needs to be cleaned…

  • im still not over that sweet ps plus update. im so pumped for next week

  • I live on the east coast and at 12:35 am on the 14th the store sill was not updated!!!! Get it in gear sony, your about to lose a long time customer to microsoft. Your new store design suck. You have to scroll through too much crap to find what your looking for. You HAD a good design before now it is trying to be a lame Xbox live clone. I don’t want to have to break out a keyboard to do searches. Put all the same game add ons under one tab!!! And your filters suck too. Wake up people, i’m not the only person your pissing off, trust me.

  • ’bout the only thing i’m interested in is the new Zen2 table.. have almost all of them save for the one Marvel pack and the new one.. and am i the only one to think this, but i feel the Vita Call of Duty title is expensive.. should’ve been $39.95 in my opinion, but hey, im sure plenty of CoD fans will check it out… just not me… shooters have long since lost their favor to me.. would like more RPGs though, especially on Vita…

  • The PS Store really needs some serious work:

    1) Please go back to the icons and get rid of these graphic panel layouts. You would be able to display more content that way per screen and organize it better.
    2) Somehow, new releases for the week have to be organized better. Right now its a pain to figure out which menu item to use, and you often get dumped into an unsorted massive list of items on the store. It makes things very difficult when you just want to browse through new releases with no real specific item in mind…sort of like “window shopping.” We are used to going to one spot to find everything new that is released.
    3) The Vita section needs a menu item that lists just Vita specific games, not PSP or PS1 or minis…just Vita games. The All Vita Games sends you to a massive list of everything compatible with the Vita that only has a couple of useless filters. I went looking for just Vita specific titles, and gave up. I’m hoping I just missed the menu item somehow.

  • Overall, the new PS Store IMO makes it far too difficult to just browse around when you dont have anything particular in mind. The filters and organization just dont present the material as conveniently as before. I think thats mostly due to the graphic style chosen to display the choices vs the icon layout from before.

  • Thats weird that everyone had a problem with getting charged for quantumn counundrum. I downloaded it last night around 730 pst for free. No problems at all.

  • Hey Guys.

I’m trying to find the Crackle app, but can’t seem to locate it.

    Great update

    Thanks guys.

  • I seem to be the minority here, but I like the new store. The old store had it’s issues too.

Change takes time to get used to, I’m sure once people get accustomed to the new store things will settle down.

  • I saw none of this Store update because it loads so slow. Christ, this store is broken. I went straight to:
Games -> PlayStation Plus -> New Arrivals and grabbed Quantum Conundrum and backed out…which took forever. How many screens do we have to go through to purchase and download something? It’s ridiculous. After the initial boot-up, (which took about a minute), none of the graphics ever booted up on my way to where I was going. On the bright side, knowing where your destination is will get you there faster than using that horrid Search engine. Week 2 of no Store browsing and I’m sticking to my guns. This Store was designed by someone with no concept of e-commerce. It evokes frustration, not fun.

  • I think it’s time ALL games are released digitally on day one. I tried to buy Lego Lord of the Rings yesterday. Nobody had it. Thanks to Black Ops 2. They all had plenty of copies of that game. We should be able to at least buy the games on PSN. Last week I wanted to buy the new Midway collection and it wasn’t on PSN either. And I still don’t see it at any stores in my area. These companies are blowing it. They could have more sales.

  • Will be Black Ops 2 added soon ?

  • Will there be a VUDU app for Vita or maybe a Flixster app in the future?

  • Nice update! When is crackle coming onto the Vita?

  • Go to Google

Search “Let’s Get Patapon 3 PSVita Compatible”

    Click on the second result.

    Sign the petition please.

    Thank you

  • I’m not sure if this is the place to ask or if I should ask on Crackle.com, but on the App section of the PlayStation Store, in the description for Crackle, it says we could build our own watchlist. But when looking around in the app, there is no option at all to build a watchlist. the only thing there is is recommended watchlists, but nothing I can build. I’m assuming downloading the app either from the My Channels section of the XMB gets me the exact same app as if downloading from the store?

  • Please answer these Questions!!!!!

I’m going to buy a PS Vita next week, and because I saw all those great deals in PS Plus, I’m thinking about buying a 1 year membership.

Please tell me if this correct:
Once I’m in, these games will be available for FREE: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio HD, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush and Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!

How much do these weight? 1GB? I will have to buy a big SD card, that’s why I’m asking.

Also I have a Playstation 3, so all the benefits from being a Plus member will be there too? Are there any games currently available for free for PS3?

Finally, all the games that are free for PS Vita, like Gravity Rush, will be available for ever as long as I’m a Plus member for Free? I mean if I want to download the game again from store six months later from now, will I able to still do it for free?

  • Can I give up all the benefits of my PlayStation Plus subscription (11 more months) to go back to the old store? Or perhaps you can make a PlayStation Minus program where I can opt to go back to the convenient store.

I don’t expect a response, Sony reps are amazing at ignoring this issue and will reply to any post except for these kind. Seriously, your new store is awful, I’ve posted many times before about it, not going to go into details again, but just read some of these comments and at least give us some kind of comment.

How about multiple choice? You can just pick a letter and not have to say a word.

    A) Store ain’t changing, stop crying.
    B) We are considering changes to make shopping convenient, note I say convenient, not more convenient, because this new store is as convenient as an ice pick lobotomy with a chainsaw-wielding falcon.
    C) We are going to allow the old store as an option for you geriatrics that can’t deal with change.
    D)

D is blank, because that will probably be the closest response we will get about this fiasco.

  • People asking for Black ops 2 on the store…Be GLAD that you didn’t pluck your hard earned dollars for the game. Too many issues/bugs/ freezes on BO 2 during Multiplayer.

You’ll spend more time on a full lobby WAITING for the match to start than on the actual match itself…and that’s if you’are lucky.

If you’re not so lucky you’ll be asked to Run a files check on your HDD after having to restart your ps3 after a screen freeze.

How could Activision and treyarch screw this up? You would think they would’ve learned something after using the same engine and code after the last 5 years. You have been warned.

  • Ya know, I really wish the actual PSN Store updates were as well laid out and as easy to browse as this page! I always come here to see what’s new before trying to find anything in the store.

  • So…any word on you guys fixing the pricing issue with the Zen Pinball 2 Fantastic Four table? First the table isn’t included with EVERY OTHER Marvel Pinball table when Zen Pinball 2 launched, and now you guys seem to want me to buy that table AGAIN after I already bought the table in Marvel Pinball. That has to be a mistake.

  • thanks for the update!! still hoping for some nba avatars :D #PHXSuns!!!

  • Guys thank you so much for the Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 Avatars

  • Does anyone know whether you get the the extra preorder skins if you buy the digital version?

  • 60$ for that play station battle royale game?
i was expecting 10$ price tag, max 15, but 60? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
    hahahahahahah

  • Please help, I just noticed I got charged for QC and I am a Plus member. I know for a fact the $14.99 was crossed out before I downloaded it. What do I need to do to get a refund?

Since I am here. I don’t like the new store either.

It is hard to navigate, buying a game takes way too many steps, and the overall experience is too slow.

    • Contact customer service: 800-345-SONY. They’ll ask for the transaction ID which you can find under Account Management –> Transaction Mgmt –> Transaction History.

  • @179 lol i’m not sure why you thought it would be that cheap. Though it does shock me that it won’t even have a PS Plus Discount.

  • my waking dead season pass dont work any more can you help me piz

  • So that would be a “go away, we’re not going to fix the Fantastic Four Zen Pinball 2 DLC issue for people who already bought it for Marvel Pinball”, then? Alright, that makes it a lot easier to decide how I’m spending my money on PSN from here on out. -_-‘ I expected AT LEAST a generic “we’re looking into it” answer by now considering there are several OTHER people here in the comments concerned about the exact same issue.

  • cant seem to access the store…like it freezes my PS3 and the screen and such most of the time then some other times it gives me an error or doesnt show anything,im not a hater i personally love the new store but this is the first time(for me anyways)that this has happened last week it was doing fine

  • Some games and addons that i own saying pay on the PSN store but i own it OMG fix the PSN store plz

  • why my waking dead season pass dont work it say i need to re-buy the season pass i dont want to pay two time piz help me

  • You guys should offer PS Plus discounts on the hottest and newest titles like RE6, TTT2…

  • Thanks for clarifying the PSABR pre-order on the last few pages! I’m loving that I don’t have to go through the retailers anymore. I have a huge stack of games but for some reason I’m starting to see the light on digital downloads…I blame PS+ :)

  • Any chance to see Brave Fencer Musashi for a PS1 classic? On a side note I am hella excited that PS+ is coming to the Vita next week. I love ps+ because as a Full-time worker/Full time employee (2 Jobs) because It gives many games to play between being able to get enough money to purchase new games. I hope more rpg’s become added whether for ps3 or vita(Although I probably have purchased all of them, lol). Thanks for the great work!

  • Eh. Looks like I’m going to have to start getting my PSOne classics from E-Bay or something. Looks like they forgot about those.

  • Is this a cellar? Cause theres an awful lot of whining going on here. People choose to pay for Plus. Remember you can still play online for free without it. You are not the center of the universe and being a Plus member doesn’t mean you have a throne.

  • Nice update.

For when the option to pay with paypal in the U.S. store?

  • The new store is awful. Whoever designed this disaster should be banned from ever designing anything ever again.

-I can’t find anything because the layout is so horrible
-everything is thrown into massive lists that must be scrolled through to find the item you want
-DLC not sorted by game is FUBAR
-no longer shows “Date Added” of items unless you click on them
-must click like 10 times and checkout just to get free stuff/demos
-search function is terrible, bring back the keyboard

Man this store is so garbage. I used to go on the store all the time to see new stuff and just look around, but now I dread going on there. I just read these updates instead and avoid the store entirely. We can only hope that everyone stops buying stuff from the store so that Sony takes action and fixes this boondoggle.

  • Any chance the original versions of Silent Hill 2,3,4 could be added as PS2 classics, ive tried asking Konami, but never hear anything back from them.
Also will Soul Calibur 5 be added as a PSN download?

  • I try not to be negative. But the new look of the Playstation store is terrible. The old store design was much better to use.

  • Will there Ever be a call of duty game for PSP GOs?????!!!

  • downloaded SingStar… the free demos will not download… every time I select a song it tells me they are not available for download… anyone else having this problem… I just want to try the demo songs before I spend my money on songs…

  • I think Jeff Goldblum said it well in Jurassic Park, “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” In this case, the scientists are whoever the heck decided to redesign the store. Its horrible.

  • Since the new store arrived, most of the old content i obtained with PLUS doesn’t appears as purchased, and it’s shown with a price. If i try to acces it, the store says the content is not avaliable (¡?). The only way to access the content is trough the download list.

This happens with most of my content, some of it appears as purchased. Confusing. I lost my content ?, i’m not sure i understand if it’s a bug in the new store.

All my friends are having the same problem.

And very inconvenienant because the download list is slow to navigate.

  • why cant vudo be on th psn store
