What? Me again? Wasn’t I just here to let you know that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale had gone gold?
Have you ever wondered what dev teams do after a game goes gold? If all is going well, often times they get down to business with DLC. And in fact that’s exactly what we have begun. I’m here today to announce the first DLC characters that will be joining the All-Stars roster: Kat from Gravity Rush, and Starhawk‘s Emmett Graves!
In addition to the signature weapons you’ll remember from his duels with the Outcasts on Dust, Emmett’s playstyle will also utilize Starhawk’s unique “Build and Battle” system, calling down help from the sky.
Kat’s approach turns gravity on its head with some mind-bending new ways to move as she positions herself for her unique brand of aerial assault. Together, they make up one of the most original duos in All-Stars.
These DLC All-Stars still have a long way to go before they’re ready to be shown off, but we wanted to let you know what the team will be working on now that we’ve gone gold with the main game, and that you can look forward to playing them… for free!
Yes, you heard that right. We’re very happy to announce these first two DLC characters will be free to everyone for the first two weeks once they are available for download early next year.
That may sound a little tricky, so let me be clear: once Kat and Emmett are finished, we’ll put them up for download. They’ll be totally free for two weeks. The only limit is that you have a two-week window to claim the characters. Once you have Kat and Emmett, they are yours forever. That may sound like a lot to remember, so don’t worry, we’ll be back closer to their release to remind you of all these details.
Everyone at SuperBot, Bluepoint, and Santa Monica Studio has tried hard not only to make a great game, but also to keep the fans very firmly in mind, offering the most we can wherever we get the chance. So far we’ve offered exclusive free pre-order costumes, an amazing digital version for PS Vita at no cost when you buy the PS3 version, frame-accurate cross-play, and now Kat and Emmett coming soon for free!

These are both great additions! I’m especially excited about Emmett Graves being a character. There’s potential for him to have a great arsenal at his disposal.
I have a question about Cole in the game. Is it “Cole McGrath” and “Evil Cole” or is it “Good Cole” and “Evil Cole”? I’d like to see them separated so you can tell they’re polar opposites, and one doesn’t sound like a derivative.

I did enjoy playing this game in the beta but I am still not sold on it. The roster is horrible in my opinion because several important PlayStation characters are missing.
I’m not complaining about free DLC but these characters should have been in the game in the first place. We were told that there were more characters than we expected in the game and that SuperBot was trying to get as many characters on disc as they could. Well I certainly expected more than 20 characters and my hope were greatly let down with this roster. It just doesn’t represent the PSX enough. No jrpg characters and I’m sure you already know the other requested PSX characters. Also the PS2 would be greatly represented if Ico or Wander was in this game.
I’m debating whether I should get this game because of the gameplay or not. Can I expect at least one important PSX character to be added in the future?

This is really cool.
Is the future of All-Stars DLC restricted to just characters or stages? Any possibility of different gameplay modes added in? Like maybe an spectator mode for online matches? It would be great for people who love streaming/watching matches.

I just have one question: when the in-game models of Kat and Emmett are finished, will their official renders be posted on the PSASBR official site? I love collecting the renders for each character. :)

i must ask Seth why the lack of RPG/JRPG representation theres plenty to choose from why havent we seen any characters from such an important genre to playstation

Hey, can we get clarification on Cross-Saves? Will we need to go into Content Manager on our Vita every time or have to use the cloud? Or will there be an easier and quicker feature for transferring progress between systems?

I have a question about the pre-order DLC. I am buying the PSN PSV Version of PSASBR on Tuesday but I can’t find anywhere to pre-order the PSN copy from my Vita. Will just buying the game day one get me the DLC or will I have to buy it seperate?
Will Kat or Emmett get costumes under the pre-order set? If not, will they get a third costume in a different fashion? Or will they lack one less costume than everyone else.
Is there a chance for a chimera to be DLC
or sidekicks like Murray and Bentley

First of all, thank you so much for Kat and Emmett being free. I’m specially glad Kat made it in, she absolutely fits in this game.
My questions are:
– Will the character have 2 alternate costumes or just the original plus the in-game one? Every single character has 3 outfits, if the DLC characters do have a third, how will it be included?
– Is there an estimate release date for them apart from Early 2013? I mean, January or February for instance.

It’s amazing to hear they’re getting treated as on-disc characters so thoroughly, so many DLC characters don’t even get story modes.
There is one thing unclear about it though, and I don’t expect this in any way, it’s mostly for curiosity’s sake, they’re getting unlockable costumes, but are they getting an equivalent to pre-order alts? Like the default, unlock and bonus costumes the others have?

Hey Seth, you and the other guys are awesome.. thank you for the game and the free DLC. A game like this was always a dream for me… but I have one question.. would be awesome if you could tell me if there is any chance for Kazuma Kiryu from the Yakuza series? He’s one of the biggest PlayStation Allstars in my opinion.. every game was exclusive, and hes HUGE in Japan… Also his gameplay would be great too…

I Just wanna say that it’s really great and I appreciate soooo much what you’re doing with these characters. A few fans (Not including myself) were getting very uncertain on roster size, but having these characters free makes up for it 100% even if the rest aren’t. I have been following the game since day 1 and preordered it as soon as i could. It is going to and I cannot and I cannot wait until Tuesday. I have one question. I understand that some developers won’t allow certain people and honestly I’m not even asking for this person I’d just like to know if you’ve considered him. The Journey Traveler. I think he’d be a great fit but I’ve already assumed he won’t make it. Just wanna make sure he wasn’t forgotten. Either way this game is going to be amazing and I’m going to love playing as these dlc character. Thanks for everything :)
Hey Seth, this game is looking awesome! Please add Sora from the kingdom hearts series ( with young and older costumes) as a DLC package like this, if you add him in it will make this game a lot better, plus Sora is a very iconic playstation character! Kingdom Hearts sold a lot of copies so please just grant me and thousands of others people wish and put him in this game! great job plese get back to me
Hey Seth, doubt you’ll see this but I just have a couple of questions/dlc suggestions:
1) Do all the characters in the game have their own stages? I can’t seem to find any info on stages for Dante, Sir Daniel and a couple of others
2) Will the Rivalry/Final Boss stage be playable in multiplayer?
3) Will the dlc characters eventually get their own stages as well?

You say that continuing DLC for this game is contingent on some other things and can’t be determined yet but this is a game that I really really want to see succeed. I have already pre-ordered, recommended this game to friends, participated in the beta, and endorsed you guys on Facebook, what else can I do to make sure this game gets the welcome it deserves :D

Hi I really like this game but wanted to know if there will be a way to kill people by things like ring outs, damage, or be able to increase there knock back distance after an attack. So in other words a way to kill people without just supers. Thanks Seth Killian for these posts.

@283 … BB does not have the preorder bonus DLC …. as far as I know, only EB Games (owned by Gamestop) offers the DLC in Canada … or you can order from Amazon.com to get the DLC …. Future Shop is offering a $10 gift card if you buy in the 1st 3 days I believe … I went with EB games … but not much time to preorder now …. also, you can preorder from PSN to get the DLC as well.
I don’t know if anyone has asked this but I wanted to know why Gabriel Logan from Syphon Filter or anyone from those games are not in this game. Syphon Filter was my first PS game. Maybe in a DLC he might be in it. HOPEING..

If I can make a suggestion for possible future dlc, these are the top characters I would really love to see (Like you havent heard these before, ha ha):
Spyro (Hopefully the good ol’ PS1 spyro, if possible, what happened to spyro since then… :( )
Sora (Surely with KH HD next year, it’d be beneficial for SE to have sora in the game to celebrate maybe?)
Cloud (Perhaps sephiroth if possible too?)
Crash
Assassin creed character? (Perhaps costumes for Altair, Ezio, Conor?)
Seth, I have both the PS3 and Vita version installed but both systems use the same PSN ID. Are there plans to add a way for the two to connect to the same game without hopping on WiFi and crossing your fingers? A PS3 / Vita version of Adhoc or something to the same effect would be great. Also, since both versions of the game are near identical, is cross saving a possibility? I’m loving the game, but I don’t want to have to unlock everything twice.

Unfortunately don’t know much about Starhawk but I started playing Gravity Rush yesterday and I’m hoping Kat’s play-style is as addicting as the game!
Also, once I heard this game was coming out I was hoping Ellen and/or Keats from Folklore might make it in. Obviously they haven’t. That game was my first and favorite game for the PS3. Any hope of them making a fresh cut? There is plenty of potential in beautiful stages from that game.
Now all we need is Aveline Crash and Spyro. Speaking o Crash and Spyro i just wanted to know how hard you guys will try to get those 2 because I know you gave them to other companies
