Plus has been quite sorry lately, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. Megaman 9 and 10 are better than all of the retail games that have been offered the past few weeks, and I’ll probably renew my subscription this week even though I already own them on the Wii.

I could have sworn chronovolt was expiring this week, isnothing replacing it? If I didnt already have MM9&10 Id like this more. But I guess it makes since to have the weakest update release with the GoW beta since thats the main attraction .

Just hope that yall realize that its 2013 and Uncharted and Gravity Rush cant carry the Vita side of Plus forever.

@ BrianC6234:

Buy the game!!

If it’s not for YOU, it’s not for YOU!
I have the game (bought it at retail when it first came out) and DLCs like this
is what PS Plus needs. More DLCs, whether discounts or complementary.

Instead of whining about FREE this, FREE that.
Go and support the developers and game publishers — GO AND BUY THE GAMES.

Jeez. Do not expect the heavy hitting PS3 or Vita games to come through the door
FREE of charge for just paying $3-4 bucks a month. Know the value of the dollar!

Unlike some of you who just joined PLUS because of the IGC that was implemented
in the Summer of last year’s E3, some of us have been PS Plus subscribers since DAY 1.
And most of us were satisfied with the PS1 and Indie games.

We need PrimoIncognito in here to clean some of these people up.
Paging PrimoIncognito!

Wow. People are complaining about getting MEGAMAN for free? I think this says something about the people who complain.

+ Ryumoau on January 7th, 2013 at 9:40 am said:

@152 its under the ‘We want your feedback’ thing near the top right corner of the article.

+ TwinDad on January 7th, 2013 at 9:41 am said:

I just wanted to say thank you for making the polls multiple selection possible. I wanted to make sure that I could pick a few genres on what I wanted to see, and also to pick two things I thought were the highlight to December.

I can understand those who would pick “nothing for me”, but seeing the results of a poll for us changes nothing. Nothing for me even if it is 80% the popular vote only tells Sony we didn’t care much for this weeks content. I’m hoping that with the Genre poll if implemented will help lower the nothings, but it will never go away, so to think Sony failed if the poll is 50% nothing doesn’t put into context that people may have already purchased it or have no interest.

I would rather have good game no matter if they are PSN or retail. What good is getting a full retail game such as “007 legends” if it’s terrible. I’d rather get Unfinished swan than 007 legends as an example.

I know what we get is limited by publishers and developers, so what ever we get thank you.

sony honestly their updates during the last weeks have been one disappointment after another, as in Sony Europe, have been giving a full game each month, and were good games

however, we have given you only minis and an occasional game, but that nobody wants to play …

honestly do not improve your PS + service, many users will prefer to create European accounts, to have a quality service

@Ryumoau – they don’t want us to know how many people are satisfied or unsatisfied with the update. Makes sense kind of seeing how all it does is stir up arguments and people manipulating it haha.

Well, I can’t say that Plus isn’t giving me my money’s worth. All the free games I got since I subscribed (maybe 8 months ago, I think) are worth much more than the price of admission. Add the Vita games given when it launched on the Vita and the value of my 50$ subscription just exploded.

Seriously. I can’t help but feel that americans subscribers get the short end of the stick compared to european ones. I understand that SCEE and SCEA are separate entities (somewhat), and that it might be because both of them need to get different agreements from the publishers because of the different regions of the world, but still…

It looks like SCEA isn’t really trying to sell PS+ to gamers. And it shouldn’t be that hard, considering that the competition is almost charging for everything and never gives anything to its members… But still, updates like these won’t sway anyone from the competition, that’s for sure. And isn’t that supposed to be one of the goal of PS+? Boosting the value of the PS3 brand?

+ afr1234 on January 7th, 2013 at 9:52 am said:

Open up the polls results as that is the least you owe us. I know that it looks bad when people opens up the blog and sees “nothing for me this week” dominating but you have to be honest, and most people does not enjoy cheap 8 bit games (even if they are megaman), i know that you cannot offer us AAA games every week but you have a wide array of tittles that you could potentially offer like psone classics, psp classics, minis, etc. We want vita updates every week (give psone classics as those appeal to vita and ps3 users) and are much better than bad games like chrono volt. Also, you can offer games that are good but that are very cheap at retail or that won´t sell that much anymore like red dead redemption, vanquish, journey, etc. For example, i cannot see elder scrolls oblivion selling that much nowadays, so you can probably work a deal to give it to us as a freebie.

Sharing the response I gave in the first page of the comments to share the reason why some of the polls results are locked.

I’d like the comments to be less about the polls, and more about the actual content of the update. When comments start to talk just about results of the polls, and then I go and collect feedback from the comments, then the data is less powerful and informative to share with the Plus team. If the data I get is feedback about poll results, then well, it’s another filter to your detailed thoughts to the Plus team.

To lessen this, yep, I set the results to private for these polls. Cast your vote, know that feedback takes time (we can never move the ship around too crazy as Plus continues to grow at an astounding rate, and we don’t want to rock the boat too quickly), and leave feedback in the comments about whether you liked the update, or not, and of most importantly, why.

+ UnderDaCovers on January 7th, 2013 at 9:54 am said:

I think people’s main issue is the over hype of the Instant Game Collection. It was amazing at launch, it had current & old games for just $5 a month. Then it went donwhill, for me personally it was because they started providing games that I never heard of (Not even from IGN) and when i played them, i found out why i never heard of them. After it went downhill they tried to save it with the Vita instant game collection. Which was great for people who were buying their Vita then, but, day one Vita holders most likely already had them. The big issue is the service promised things people wanted, and its not really dishing it out. Once i see more recent games in the line up, i will purchase my + back. But Megaman and Nba Jam so far? No thank you.

I went with western RPGs b/c I have always wanted to try KOAR …. also love platformers …. as plus members we did just get Chronoivolt & Jetpack for free on the Vita front, so really, given the smaller library for the unit, can’t really complain … for me, discounts is really where it’s at … I absolutely get my moneys worth annually with savings on games I want to buy. have been absolutely LOVING R & C Questfor Booty ! what a deal with the holiday discount ! thanks ….

And this point I just feel like Sony stole my money. I was promised an “Instant Game Collection”. Instead I have received instant access to “Digital Games we’ve tried to sell for dirt cheap in the past” and “The Gamestop 5$ used bin”.
I guess the smartest thing Sony has done in the last couple months was started making the results of the polls private. That way there’s isn’t a glaring NOTHING FOR ME THIS WEEK or NOTHING FOR ME THIS MONTH right in the middle of the post that Morgan puts oh so much effort in to.

But hey, I guess I can keep my head up… I hear Morgan said there’s big things coming next week! I’m just curious to know what calender he’s working on… And when this future next week is coming.

Also, people asking for the polls they are on the top of the post.

I only own a vita and I am positive that I’m not the only person who only owns a vita and has PS Plus. Yes we had a wonderful week one of PS PLUS along with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, but almost every month now seems to be giving PS3 users tons of free content but leave’s vita owners in the shadows. Chronovolt was a fun game for about one play through then became boring (in my opinion). I feel that there should be content dedicated to the Vita, such as Little Big Planet PS Vita at a discounted price or even free. Thats obviously just an example of course. This is all just opinion, I don’t mean to make anyone mad or start drama haha,

WOW! Another month with no retail game. What a great start for the new year. November now January without a retail game and Bioshock 2 and street fighter in december! I dont have any more expectations from these ppl anymore. Seems to be they just dont care about the members.

Nice tactics though by not showing the poll results, which will ofcourse have nothing for me this week and month in the top. Why bother with the polls? Why bother with saying “2013 shaping up to be a fantastic year” (not true atleast from my US PLUS subscription) whats so fantastic being treated as not so important customer compared to EU members. blah blah blah!!! Final words “nothing for me for the past four months” other than total disappointment.

I love how much people complain about wanted big time, quality titles, and then complain when they get two good freakin’ Mega Man games. Once again proof that all anyone wants to do here is complain. This is an awesome update, keep up the good work Morgan & Co.

They should fix the problem with people who own one of them not being able to get the game they don’t have though, that’s pretty sketchy. Why not just make both games individually free as well as the bundle? I don’t get why it has to be JUST the bundle.

Glad you guys added more polls, too. Assuming making results hidden is more a matter of the redone format than any conspiracy-like attempt to hide results from people, though really they never should’ve been public to begin with (and I’m sure you know why now). I have to admit, I was kind of hoping to see Demon’s Souls as the free game (or even discounted) after it was announced it was being added to PSN. Hopefully the polls can make that happen.

That problem is fixed, and does not affect this Mega Man Bundle. If you’ve acquired either MM( or MM10 in the past only, you’ll still be able to snag the other, free as a plus member.

+ Ashilyn on January 7th, 2013 at 10:18 am said:

As for people clamoring about RPGs and such, you’ve got to remember that anything we get for plus has to be available on PSN, and there’s… not really many RPGs on PSN. Not as full PS3 retail games at least – and all of them are Western RPGs (Dragon Age 1&2, the Mass Effect games, and Borderlands and Deus Ex as hybrid RPGs are the only ones, I think). There’s really only so much they can do until publishers decide to put their RPGs on PSN. But then, that would require logic to process, wouldn’t it?

Great update, Morgan! I’ve been wanting to play Mega Man 9 & 10 for the longest time, as I was a big fan of 2-4. Hear that they are a blast, and I love trying to figure out which bosses’ weapon owns the other bosses. Plus, with how difficult these games are supposed to be, I’ll get hours of playtime out of them. Anybody crapping on getting these games as part of Plus cannot have played Mega Man before…gaming at it’s best! And I can’t wait to try out the GoW Multiplayer beta…looking forward to continuing Kratos’ single-player chaos even more though. Well done, Plus team!
