December 2012 PSN Top Sellers: Journey Reclaims The Top Spot

Morgan Haro's Avatar + Posted by Morgan Haro on Jan 09, 2013 // Community Manager, PlayStation Digital Platforms

Securing placement on several Game of the Year lists, as well as receiving accolades for its gameplay, music, and delivery on a truly breakthrough experience, Journey returns to the top of these charts in a fitting good-bye to 2012.

Other notable PS3 entries include the original Mass Effect, which debuted on the PS3 for the first time earlier in December. New release Guardians of Middle Earth cracked the top ten, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale continued to delight gamers, while other Game of the Year favorite The Walking Dead made its mark on the chart.

2012 was quite a year for the PlayStation Network, which offered the best in download only games like Journey, or The Unfinished Swan, as well as new-release AAA titles like Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3. We’re excited to bring you more great content in 2013, so keep your eye on these charts to see what next year’s shakers and movers will be!

Congratz! to Journey once again, the price for it on the Holiday sales for Plus service was amazing & i would still pay it’s original price for an awesome experience.

As well as I AM ALIVE, game was EPIC & i wish they’d make a Horror game like that.

And last but not least, PASBR, been enjoying that game on both systems since its release & cannot wait on Kat/Emmett Update.

Morgan, not related to the post, but can you make people at Sony watch this video?

youtube.com/watch?v=dDTFhDHFtZU

Its a channel of EpicNameBro, a veteran in Dark Souls with a lot of respect and followers.
This video is about Soul Sacrifice and the big chance to make Vita big, Sony cant go wrong this time.
Can you give a reply on this, please?

If only sony us Marketing team were smart enough they would create a LBP vita 30 seconds tv spot ASAP with just gameplay video and sackboy’s charming charisma at the end of the video with a $199.99 price tag and the system will start selling at a faster rate or better yet how about an entertainment on the go tv spot? featuring Lbp, Uncharted, resistance or call of duty, gravity, sonic&all stars, sound shapes, playstation all stars, need for speed and all the awesome psvita games for the non hardcore playstation fans to see?

@55, I can agree with that idea. I love my Vita. SFxTekken, Wipeout, Uncharted, Dokuro, Gravity Rush Sunflowers and LBP are some of my favorite games on the system. The Vita is selling well and will continue to, but the real problem is with software pricing. Handheld games need to be priced better. $19.99- $29.99 should be standard for big games and keep minis/ps1/ps Mobile pricing as is. I think the handheld market would take off with comfortable pricing…..Keep on Gaming.

Bought and downloded Journey and I have to say it was a waste of money. I basically threw away $7.49. This game is not for everyone and especially not for me. I is the most boring and dumb game I have every played.

Hi Morgan, hope your having a great start this year and happy holidays to everyone at Sony.! I was hoping you might know if there is any discount being applied again to Journey.? My fiance and I spent the week in the hospital for an emergency and I was not able to download Journey at the discount price of $7 and we really wanted to buy it. Is there anything we can do to maybe get that deal? Thanks, and here’s to a new great year of PS Plus..!!

Also just taking a minute to say Thanks for the memories to THQ…. We will miss them.
