  • Hey Morgan, is there any news regarding if/when the ***Phantasy Star Portable (PSP)*** [http://phantasystar.sega.jp/psportal/history] series, Crash Bandicoot (PS1) series, and/or Tomba 2 (PS1) classic will be coming to the PSN (specifically, for the PS VITA – or PS3)? I’ve been waiting (and watching every week) on their release lineup in NA ever since the announcements about bringing older game titles back to the forefront of your digital distribution services were first made available [many months ago]. The titles are already available on the PSN in Europe and Japan, but not in NA yet? Are the releases being delayed because of publisher issues? Are the titles even planned to ever be released in NA? *crosses fingers* Myself, and many other players out there, really hope they do – if and when that day ever comes! ^o^

  • As for the PS Plus update, I’ll most definitely be jumping in on that LBP Karting deal!! I’ve always been one of the first people in line to jump on a new LBP release (by pre-ordering as well as playing in the closed betas for them), but this last time around, I decided to focus on the release of LBP for the PS VITA this last year instead. When the timing was good for me, I knew that I would get back to playing LBP Karting for the PS3 (ever since playing it at PAX 2012 and in the closed beta) eventually! :P I’d say that time has finally come; and 2013 is really starting to look pretty good for me – and Sony! With awesome sales like these and having more titles being released every week, you should be selling more PS3s and PS VITAs in no time! ^_^

Keep the PS updates coming! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for all of us in this upcoming Tuesday update!

    Thanks, Morgan! :D

  • great update more than usual <3
    especially for the 75% sale.
just subcribed ps+ on my son account for him to get lbp karting, hot shot golf, jak and dexter and probably more
    tomorrow on sale!

btw mnstrings, you are really annoying.

  • I just can’t believe it! After I had so much intense fun playing LBP Vita and LBP 2 I get to get LBP Karting at only 10 dollars?! Spectacular! I also have my wallet buffed up ready to collect Ni no Kuni!

  • This is really disappointing for Vita-only users. Foosball’s demo bored me within 10 minutes, none of the 13 games are Vita games that haven’t shown up on PS+ before.

  • @ Cyb3rfr34k-iso

Good to know, friend! Will also be enjoying the great update too.

  • @ every vita owner

  • Really is a nice place to come read comments here, when its not filled with “another crap update” or “yeah i’m not going to renew” filling the place.

For a second I thought today was Tuesday and was confused as to why the store hadn’t been updated yet. :P

  • Ha I see every week people on here complaining about the quality of games that EU store gets… and now the EU store complains about the games we get. Would everyone just shut the hell up and enjoy the quality content that Sony is releasing. There won’t be games like Bioshock 2 and Darksiders every Tuesday, but rest assured that at least once a month you will find a game worth your time or maybe even a little bit of your money. Just stop complaining guys and have fun gaming.

  • very disappointing, at least we get the dead space 3 demo

  • looks like i will be getting hmmmm . . . EVERYTHING!!!

  • Foosball is a poor replacement for Final Fantasy Tactics. At the very least, Retro City Rampage has been a great game for my Vita, and it is not a huge file. I have to give you guys props for that.

I’m not sure if this is the best article to post this under, but I would really appreciate it if we could get Final Fantasy (PSP) on the PS Store. I would love to have the definitive version of FF1 on my Vita. Additionally, I would love if Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops would be added to the list of PSP games that work on the Vita. I love the game and would like the chance to replay it with two analogs.

    @Morgan
With all of the deals and free games Playstation Plus offers, I can’t imagine Sony profits from the service. Should I be surprised? Are the subscriptions so plentiful that Sony makes a profit? You’re probably not at liberty to discuss, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. As always, thanks.

  • would any1 know if u bought tiger13 if u have to pay extra for online pass or is it included? thx

  • Just have to say, I like that the poll is public again. Also gotta say that I’m really impressed with the deals! Much better than the ones we got for Christmas. Good work!

  • warp, machinarium, and maybe the black swan… err, unfinished swan. great sale, how can you pass up some of these?

  • @ THEHAWK3986 Agreed. People would be suprised at how happy they’d be if they stopped looking at what others have or what they don’t have, and just appreciate what they do have.

  • Morgan I can see why some Vita only plus members would be upset. The cross play games offered really weren’t all that great and foosball isn’t ruffling my feathers either.

Suppose you were like meand brought a Vita on black Friday got a plus subscription because you saw those sick 6 initial games and then got slim pickings for December and January thus far.

Add to that Vita cannot play every ps1 classic like a psp can how would you feel seriously. If Sony wants the Vita to sell well they have to support it first with every psp title out their classic games included and you need to make a Vita a must have for a plus member or in reverse make plus a must have for the few Vita owners out their.

Also will we ever be able to play ps2 classics on a Vita

  • I wonder how many of those 13 games are gonna be given away for free down the line?

  • Wow great job playstation, I already own the foosball game but I know its decent! I will definitely be picking up Unfinished Swan and LBP Karting with all these sales going on. Keep up the great work playstation!

  • Good !!!….

    I have been complaining recently…. but i will stop 2 months now…

    Gonna buy :

    LittleBigPlanet Karting
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
    Warp
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL Extended Cut
    Machinarium

    22$ for all :)

+ I really enjoy you put REAL vita games and not ps1 or psp game in the instant game collection….

Continue like this i finally gonna renew :)

  • which ratchet and clank is this?

  • Hi Morgan, I just wanted to say thank you for you and your team’s hard work for running Playstation Plus. It is a great service and I hate seeing all these negative comments so just wanted to let you know some people do appreciate you. Also I was wondering since there is a new One Piece Warriors game coming out in the summer do you think we can get a discount on the current game that is on PS store? Thanks in advance.

    • appreciate the support; I i always appreciate everyone’s feedback and critical comments are always embraced.

  • i just got 20 bucks today too! sweeeeet. so tomorrow, its on like donkey kong!

  • @Hundredhandslap

even if they “give” lbpk right after the sale i’d be totally satisfied. i prefer buying games and keep them forever.
You cant beat a ~6month new game @10$, plus you can install the game on two playstation 3.

  • I liked some of the games on Ps Plus, but what I really hope to see is the MGS HD collection come at a discount for Ps Plus Members. Keep up the good work. Also it wouldn’t hurt to offer a free month to those who buy a year of Ps Plus.

  • Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary sale please!

  • This sale has me speechless! You guys are on the right track Morgan! Waiting for Metal Gear Rising Demo!

  • Any insight on getting plus freebies or just some discounts on videos for plus members?

  • I love Plus (day 1 subscriber) but I’m starting to feel a diminishing return as the months go by.

If you’re like me and joined Plus because you were already a big gamer and have already purchased many of the PS Plus sale games at initial game launch, you’re probably in the same boat as me.

I’ve actually changed my buying habits from day-one purchase to waiting to see if/when the same game will go on sale through PS Plus. I would think this would have a negative result on initial sales of a game which could hurt the developer. Probably an extreme case but something to consider. I don’t want to be punished (nor have a negative impact on the developer) for being a ‘hard-core’ gamer and getting games at launch.

I understand that it’s not always an option to offer discounts on other publishers’ games but it would be awesome to have a % discount on any game (or Sony published game) that I could use on a game that I may not already own. Just an idea, still love Plus and will continue to enjoy all the benefits it has and will offer. Thanks!

  • @ Cyb3rfr34k-iso (#323)Yup I agree, I much rather prefer to keep my games so it doesn’t really bother if discounted games become free.

@ rockero_5 MGS HD collection had a discount a few weeks ago during the winter Holiday Essentials sale

  • Already bought a few of the 13 off the PSN.
Also would’ve preferred bundle deals for the PS2 trilogies but, a game for two or three bucks isn’t much to laugh at. That’s some STEAM prices there.
Looking forward to picking up Psychonauts tomorrow off The Network for about the same price I paid for the PC version.

  • Big let down for me. That’s alright, looks like others will enjoy the Foosball.

One thing for sure is, EU is getting all the best games, like batman and so forth. Anyways, off to kill the weak infidels, chow for now, PS Blog.

  • @Morgan in your response to #177 about the Vita.

I definitely think of Vita’s inclusion as nothing but a bonus for PS+. But I think it’s really awesome that you’re doing something along the lines of 2 games a month or so.
A few months ago when we were polled about what we want for Vita’s PS+, I voted for Vita exclusive games, and the initial instant game collection was a home run for Vita games. And in the time since, I understand the appeal of giving away cross-play/cross-buy games as well. But obviously there are only so many of those. And, since I assume the Vita’s library and the realistic possibilities for free games have been or will be exhausted relatively quickly, I’m personally hoping that high quality forgotten PSP gems are in the plans as well.

I think a really fantastic idea for the Vita would be a widespread, gigantic sale on PSP games with tempting prices in the 2-3 dollar range like we’re seeing here. Very curious why publishers aren’t trying to push and market their old PSP games in this way to this brand new install base they’ve been given.

  • I voted for the 13 for ’13 Sale because once again a big sale on a large variety of games turns out to be the highest percentage chance that I’m going to get something I really wanted. The free games are mostly great for trying out and being exposed to games I wasn’t planning on buying, whether they turn out to be great or not. But the big sales almost always include something I wanted and that’s a good thing.

  • Foosball isn’t too high up on my most wanted list, but hey free is free. lol Little Big Planet Karting, on the other hand, I can’t wait to buy and play. I enjoyed the beta very much.

  • @Cyb3rfr34k-iso and BlueBl1zzard

Different strokes for different folks, I prefer my games free. I’ll pick up LBPK for 10 bucks though. Easy plat

  • Morgan, any chance we will see LBP Vita back on the discount bay again? I just missed the holiday week promotion by one day, they changed the games on a Monday (used to be every Tuesday) when I just had added funds to my account to buy both LBP Vita and Rayman Origins Vita for my kid and me. Since we got LBP Kart this week, maybe you can punk some strings and get at least LBP Vita back into discount? And any chances we get Reistance Vita and Ridge Racer Vita on the Free Plus games? And sweet discounts for the add ons for RR?

I almost forgot, will you guys ever get Resistance Collection on digital? That would be nice. And thanks for Unfinished Swan this week, BTW. See ya.

  • I’m really not sure why I even bother seeing what’s up for Plus anymore. Weak update after weak update. When mine expires I don’t think I’ll bother renewing and I’ve been a member since day one.

I’ve been really thinking about selling my Vita. The system has been kind of dead with mediocre titles lately. Ya I heard Persona 4 is awesome but there has been nothing else. Nothing has a solid release date except Sly which I won’t be getting. Then you give us garbage like Foosball for Plus. I didn’t buy this game for a reason and I don’t care to download it now for the same reason.

It’s been a long road Sony but after Last of Us and Beyond I may be done with console gaming. Digital games are just to overpriced and I don’t have to pay a membership fee on Steam to get great sales. Thanks for the good times.

  • Corrections: “for my kid and I”. And “pull some strings”, not “punk”

Sorry, English is not my native language and the iPad auto-correction is not much of a help as well.

  • Nice deal on Unfinished Swan. Really wish Limbo could go back on sale/be free though.

  • already got foosball , but even jpn plus is better than this

  • @DazeofWar, really? This a weak update? I’m pretty excited for Unfinished Swan the most for about ~$4.

I think I am going to have to agree with you, if you don’t find much satisfaction from this, then you probably are better off not renewing, heck I would if I felt the same way as you.

You really can’t compare this to Steam, its a given Steam has better sales hands down.

As for my Vita, I’m picking up escape vektor tomorrow, I only have a few hours to play each day, so I have a huge backlog of free games from Plus and games on the Vita to play, I ALMOST secretly kind of wish they would tone it down with the content, lol, not!

Good luck with Steam though really do hope you enjoy it!

  • The implication that everyone should be happy with the amount of content they are getting is a little bit laughable considering the majority of unhappy people are Vita users. Someone like me, who only owns a Vita and not a PS3, have received Retro City Rampage, Chronovolt, and Foosball in the past 7 weeks. We’re nearing two months ($10) in which I have not seen any return of value from my money. If your argument is that the features like cloud storage and automatic updates are worth a monthly payment of $5, I would disagree. These are all features that are completely free on Steam.

If owning a PS3 was integral to receiving something tangable from PS Plus I wish I was made aware before-hand. I don’t care in the least about that platform so if PS Plus for VITA follows the path it has been on lately I would greatly consider this a waste of money. In the end $10 for $30 worth of games is only a good deal if one actually had any interest in even one the games. This is not the case for me, and a farcry from what I, and many others were hoping for from PS Plus for Vita.

  • @ Dendritic19 It’s understandable if vita PS Plus didn’t live up to your expectations, but I would definitely would not call it “a waste of money”. If you signed up for a 3 month subscription ($17.99) on the exact day it launched for vita, the 2 month mark would have passed yesterday. In those 2 months you got Gravity Rush, Uncharted: GA, Wipeout 2048, Jet Set Radio, Mutant Blobs Attack, Final Fantasy Tactics, Retro City Rampage, Chronovolt, 1 Gb of cloud storage, automatic updates, and discounts on games like Sound Shapes, LBP Vita, Rayman Origins, Unit 13, MGS HD Collection, among others (and we still got a month left). For $18 if that’s what you call a waste of money, I would love to see what you call a good deal.

  • @ Dendritic19,

Yours would be a valid point on all fronts, except for the fact that Steam vs PSN are two different beasts, if you love comparing apples to oranges, then by all means continue to do so. So what that some features are free on Steam? This is not Steam, so right away that issue is moot.

Secondly, for a service that ends up costing about $4/month(for a yearly subscription) those benefits alone are a nice incentive to get Plus in addition to the free games and sales. Not sure why people seem to have this idea in their head that PSN is somehow comparable to Steam. You actually think they would be able to pull off constant sales of games for the same price as Steam? Yeah, don’t count on it.

Its been pretty much apparent for a while now that the focus of PS+ would be mainly for PS3 users, THEN Vita users. If you hadn’t grasped that by now, not sure what to tell you I guess.

All you can really do at this point is not renew. But I mean cmon, I’m a Steam fan too, but I’m not dumb enough to compare it to PSN where I know there’s no chance in hell they will ever have the same type of sales/service any time soon.

  • @ Dendritic19,

$10 for $30 worth of games? So they took out all the rest of the games for the Vita (Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Final Fantasy) and took away the discounted PS+ sales for the Vita?

Sounds like a lie to me. Yeah, man you sure are getting a really bad value….NOT.

    Hope you don’t renew. :)

@ BlueBlizzard, funny how he manages to leave all those other games out. Yeah man, that is such a WASTE of money, lol.

  • Foosball 2012? Seriously?
Starting to make more sense to make a EU PSN account and use it as my main for the PS+ goodies. Hopefully something picks up before September 2013.

  • See how many vita only owners every plus post and so many ask to be given psp games
Is that really that hard? I know how hard to give retail games of vita, but old psp should be easier right?

  • @ 348 !

    NO I DON’T !! I want Vita Games + Trophies !!

    No psp no ps1 !
