Resident Evil Revelations Creeps to PS3 May 21 with New Features

Survival horror fans! I’m super excited today to announce that Resident Evil Revelations is heading to PS3 this May. I know a lot of you guys have been patiently waiting for this one so we’re happy to be bringing you the definitive Resident Evil Revelations experience along with some new extras. For those that haven’t heard of RE Revelations, it’s a little bit different than some of the other Resident Evil titles you may have heard of or played recently. Revelations harkens back to the classic “survival-horror” style gameplay where you’ll be exploring dark, creepy areas with little (and sometimes no) ammo to protect yourself from whatever might be lurking around the next corner.

The storyline focuses on Jill Valentine and her partner Parker Luciani as they track down the whereabouts of series standby Chris Redfield and his new partner Jessica Sherawat. Jill and Parker are investigating the last known coordinates of their comrades on an abandoned cruise ship known as the Queen Zenobia when they’re thrown into the middle of bio-terrorist conspiracy full of danger, mystery, and of course plenty of T-abyss mutants.

What’s new to the package? On top of the core campaign and co-op RAID mode experience we’re adding new character costumes and new playable characters and features to RAID mode, providing an even higher difficulty mode called “Infernal Mode” for RE ninjas, adding a new enemy to the mix and randomized positions for all enemies, reduced load times, more save slots, more weapon customization parts, more character skills, ResidentEvil.net integration/unlockables, completely reworked visuals, and of course lest we not forget the fact that you’ll get to play all of this in high definition in the comfort of your own home on PS3.

Resident Evil Revelations will be available May 21st in North America (May 24th for our Euro friends) on PS3 via retail disc or as a day-one digital download on PSN for $49.99. Hope you guys enjoy the game and be sure to hit me up on PSN for some RAID mode!

  • Some of you need to get a grip, seriously.

  • Capcom this is just another disappointing fail from you its great that your porting it to consoles but why wont you port a handheld game to another? i mean ffs you put mercenaries 3d (albeit a terrible port) to the ipod and that was for the 3ds too its just bad business hell you probably will lose money because your missing out on another end of the hand held market

Also i know you will never do a cross buy promotion but with the vita /ps3 cross play it opens more gameplay for online people who dont have 1 or the other pretty much if wiii u and 3ds has a cross play function update your hypocrites for now allowing this on playstations side

Now before i get flamed or trolled i just want to say that revelations was actually the best title ive played for the 3ds and i guarantee that you will like it if you played res 1-3 (tho a 50$ price tag is a bit hefty for a port) it’s just so disturbing how capcom doesnt see the flaws in its planning sometimes with that said capcom plz rethink on a vita port they will pretty much play the same @ worst you just need to update models and fix online gameplay and some balance features (those invisible creatures and the shield ones are op ! on hell mode)

  • hell yea cant wait til comes out on may 21 st love resident evil 6 best game ever lets see how good is this one =)

  • why no Mercenaries 3D bundle :(

    the price is too steep.

should have been $29.99 or $39.99.

  • is there going be an option for more then two player for raid more if there is i’m sold (ether way i’ll buy) also i hope you can play raid mode from the start!! also to those vita owners i think capcom is doing a curiousity killed the ca t thingy hopefully it will work still i need to buy the RE 5 gold edtion and 6 then this…

  • i gotta say something about who ever is posting your stuff on here ,,k ,yesterday i checked on here and seen that fooseball 2012 was gunna be a plus freebie,,,now i see that the post was removed ,,,,so i check the store and of coarse no fooseball 2012 or dust open beta ,,,,,whats the deal!!!!!!!!! some1 please reply back,,

  • No Vita version? Oh, please Sony, do somethings about that.

  • @106 (income1). The post from Morgan Haro about that game being free for Plus is still there on the front page so dunno what the heck you’re talking about. It’s titled, “PlayStation Plus Updates: 75% Off Many Acclaimed Titles, Free Foosball.” The store probably hasn’t been updated yet (I can’t check for sure right now). Just relax.

  • I’ve got a question. How big are your heads that you feel you can charge 50 bucks for this game?

  • @ Mike Dunn

Well, you answered the questions as best you could while not getting yourself in trouble with your employer, so thank you for that.

Please pass along the critique/feedback you got here up the ladder, we Vita owners WANT to give somebody money, there are hardly any games for the damn thing, a letterboxed straight-up port of RE from the 3DS would have a 75% attach rate (that’s right, 9 of the 12 NA Vita owners would have bought it), thats how starved we are for games.

Somebody somewhere is going to make money off the Vita, Capcom has the time and energy to repackage/resell Street Fighter on a quarterly basis, throw us a bone here please.

  • THANK YOU! CAPCOM

Day 1 buy for me… May 21st can’t come soon enough!

  • It is so hilarious that Capcom is making this for consoles. Capcom, a little advice for you. The reason resi 6 was hated so much… it wasn’t a survival horror game, you know… the whole point of resident evil was about? If your going to change every aspect of an IP, RENAME IT to something else.

  • Are we going to get the Julia Voth model of Jill’s face back, because I’m not a big fan of this version.

How many extra characters are being added to Raid Mode?

And it would been great to have Mercenaries 3D added as a bundle. Can’t wait til May 21!

  • After years playing Capcom games, the last ones that i enjoy to play was RE:Code Veronica and Haunting Ground. on my PS2. Now, after all this years i can play once again a good and true Resident Evil. Thanks 90’s capcom

  • Agree with the rest of the crowd Mike….

A vita version was necessary. U should have made the ps3 version with cross buy for vita BAM! there u go sir my 50 bucks directly to ur pocket…. even if it didnt had cross buy for 30/40 bucks i would have payed them for the vita version. sadly i will not buy a handheld game to play it on a console for that price. not even with all the things u said the game its gonna have… it is still a handheld game. sorry.

Oh I know u wont answer my comment but still I wanned to ask if Capcom have considered the petition the PS community asked about Okami HD vita version? in the last post about okami hd the whole community where asking for it…. any comment about that?

    Thanks for listening :)

  • This is cool to see a 1yr ago port coming tp PS3, but PS3 has a massive library. The PS Vita needs a library of games too, what worries me now is that with PS4 on the horizon.I hope with the people who bought a PS Vita where not left out when it comes to more games on our handheld.Because well if that happens this will be it for me buying a handheld from Sony.

  • OH AND PLS SAVE THE VITA! Give the Vita its blood… Monster Hunter 4 HD! (I wont ask for exclusivity bc i know capcom sold out to nintendo…. sadly :(

  • Will there be campaign co-op? The game is just about made for campaign co-op, considering (SPOILERS) you are just about always with an AI partner throughout the story of Resident Evil: Revelations. Co-op is the best thing that ever happened to Resident Evil. For those who think it’s scarier playing alone, they can play singleplayer, no big deal. Let us teamwork oriented folks enjoy the thrills of Resident Evil together!

  • I no longer have a need to buy the 3ds anymore! and personally i liked resident evil 6 because i was not comparing to to previous titles and you have to admit it is better then 5.

  • To be honest, while the graphics have been touched up a bit it doesn’t really look all that different from the 3DS version judging from the screenshots and trailer. Not to mention that the $50 price tag is ridiculous, especially since the portable version can be bought for half the price.

While I’m sure many will be happy to play this on a home console with their HD setups and whatnot this all seems like a waste of times. Also all the new “features” aren’t really all that exciting since they’re nothing more then little touch-ups that add nothing to the overall package.

  • You have said a couple of times the reason not to jump into the vita was you didnt want to lose the experience that would be lost by doing it for the vita. Is this not a contradiction from what you are saying about not having the 3d?

With this said, what is the real reason behind not having the 3d? or what is the real reason for not having the vita? is it about having the best experience or not? As you simply can not say that the 3d would make it a poor experience

  • Would have been day 1 for Vita, now I’ll wait for price drop or IGC

  • First off, thanks for bringing this to consoles! I love the 3DS version, and can’t wait to try out the new features, especially the Raid Mode additions.

Anyway, I have some questions. If you could answer even one of them, I would greatly appreciate it!

    1) Will the campaign be tweaked to add in co-op play? I can think of several parts of the game that would need to be changed gameplay-wise in order to allow co-op, but it’d be awesome if it’s included.

    2) How will the touch screen puzzles be handled?

    2) Can console owners ever expect to see the Mercenaries 3D content in HD, with its different loadout system and all?

    3) Will the RE.net content be similar to what’s been offered for RE6 up to this point, or can we expect some new types of unlockable content, like Raid stages?

    4) In the trailer for the HD release of Revelations, one of the scenes depicted seems to be a recreation of part of the Death of Rachael trailer that came out before the 3DS edition was released, despite the events from that trailer not being in the final game (Though they were referenced). Can we expect to see new scenarios and/or cutscenes for the story mode, such as one(s) involving Rachael?

  • Hello, I have a few questions: Will there be 4 player online co-op for Raid mode?

Will there be unlocks in campaign mode such as weapons and costumes? If not, please consider adding them.

What are these “new skills” you speak of?

Lastly, will the PC version use Game for Windows LIVE or Steam?

  • I already own this on 3ds…but will not buy on ps3… i was hoping for a vita version… BTW where the hell is a dedicated monster hunter for vita?

Why did you kill off megaman legends 3? Why no mega man legends 1 and 2 on psn? we have the avatars but not the games? what the hell?

Why is there no vita monster hunter. Why did you backstab and betray your fanbase? You guys make me sick because of it. And until there is a monster hunter vita or a Original game from you on the device, I will not buy your games any longer. signed x-capcom fan….

  • LOFL @ all the butthurt fans,

To all of you, I have just this to say:

    “HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!”

  • @125
We know what we want, Business corporates are blinded with statistics on a piece of paper.

  • Add my vote for Move controls please.

  • Please tell me it’ll support 3DTVs.

  • “3D isn’t supported for Revs unfortunately, we wanted all versions to be consistent and 3D wasn’t possible on all platforms”

Oh. Then not interested. You’ll be supporting gamepad stuff on Wii U but I doubt you’ll use Vita for the same functionality for PS3, or smartglass for 360, so it’s also a lie. And I don’t like being lied to.

  • will it have 3d or not ?

    thank you.

  • I agree it saddens me that there isn’t a Vita version coming out, and I honestly will enjoy this game, but Capcom what is up with that idea for a Resident Evil 2 Remake. I’m really looking forward to this. Dear Playstation, what do I have to do to convince you guys to push that on Capcom. Make it another exclusive for 2 years at least :)

  • I’d also like to see new Avatars released BEFORE the game are released, that way people can show their support for an upcoming release.

  • only for ps3 ?

  • No Vita version? and $49.99 FOR A YEAR OLD PORT!??!?

Enhanced or not, I think there needs to be a lot of research done into what the market is willing to bear. PS360 owners have a lot of options at the moment. If it had been priced at $15-$20, that would have been much more palatable. This just displays a lack of respect for the consumer.

  • And if they make a RE2 remake, I’m sure people will complain that that isn’t for Vita either.

Seriously, people, get over it. Not every game has to come out for the Vita. You guys are worse than Wii U owners.

Resident Evil shouldn’t have been on a portable in the first place. Consoles are where they belong.

Hell, I’m still hoping Uncharted: Golden Abyss will be ported to PS3 one day.

  • The price and lack of Vita support prevent me from buying this game.

  • I would have bought this were it on Vita. I don’t have much interest in playing it on my PS3. Especially for that price.

Capcom, your support for the Vita has been pretty lame. I love UMvC3 and SFxT, but aside from those you’ve done nothing to really test the waters. And given how later we got both games, and the fact that people really didn’t seem to like SFxT as a game itself, you can’t really place any importance on how well that one did.

The least you could have done was give us another port in this game. Since you won’t give us anything else.

  • @125: There are licensing issues with Legends 1 & 2 that keep them from being released on PSN. It sucks, but that’s the way digital works.

  • @136: When games are ported to every other system out there, but Vita, then it should be on Vita.

Especially when it would be easier to port it to Vita than to consoles. It was a 3DS game after all. There are already quite a few 3DS/PS Vita multiplatform games. So Capcom’s lack of a legitimate reason is really annoying.

I bet they’ll end up putting this game on iOS too and it will control like complete trash, but they’ll waste the resources on that.

  • Hi Mike. I really appreciate your time answering our questions but I must say that your first response regarding Vita sounds a lot like a cookie-cutter PR-evasive-line. MT Framework is one beast of an engine, heck, it’s probably the best multi-platform engine of this generation (UE3 sucks on PS3). Capcom could even develop a cross-platform game on 3DS/PS3 (again leaving out Vita -_-) with the PS3 version still looking appealing.
Criterion already proved that it is possible to perfectly emulate the “big-screen experience” on Vita. There’s almost nothing telling apart the Vita version of Most Wanted from the PS3 version. I’m no developer so I have no clue about the technological stuff but I assume it’s extremely easy to port a game from PS3 to Vita based on comments made by other developers and on seeing NFS: Most Wanted running live on Vita. Of course I will not get an answer but it was most likely a business decision rather than “3DS being a different beast than Vita”.

  • I genuinely love Capcom games. Even the outsourced ones are great (DmC being a case in point here.) But I am quite disillusioned with the constant lack of support for Vita. MH4 I do understand, a lot of Nintendo’s money has switched hands to secure the exclusivity and Capcom are a business after all, not charity. But continuously ignoring Vita means that even I might re-consider purchasing future Capcom games.
Of course it won’t hurt Capcom at all as one lost sale means nothing to the company but I’d just like to voice my disappointment and I’d be delighted to see some future Vita support of one of the better Japanese development studios. Sadly right now the only Vita games I’m buying are imports from Japan which will most likely never get localized.
As I saw what MT Framework could produce on 3DS (Biohazard: Revelations) my mind boggled at the prospects of seeing it running on Vita. I hope that rather sooner than later I might actually get a taste of that.

  • This and the cave are two games that could have been really strong Vita titles, but no dice. What’s with the industry-wide vendetta against vita? This game will have no move support, no 3D, but yet the developers outright refuse to do what is otherwise a given porting job because the ‘infrastructure is different’ – despite having just made the game for PS3! What is the big obstacle here? I’m getting tired of watching videos of games and thinking “that would be spectacular on a vita for so many reasons” and yet it’s announced for just about everything but. I just bought a 3DS and I can’t stop playing it. The difference in quality is easily noticeable on vita, but there is just nothing to be excited for. It’s depressing.

  • Mike, I don’t know how you had the nerve to announce this on the Playstation blog and not expect people to be angry that you haven’t announced a Vita version. It’s great you’re releasing this on consoles, it looks great, but what you are failing to understand is that this was originally a handheld game for 3DS, so I’m confused and very as to why you wouldn’t consider porting it to the Vita as well. This is an absolutely a moronic decision by Capcom. The Vita needs support/games, but just as Capcom as continually done in the past, you continue to screw over Sony platforms. GIVE US A VITA VERSION.

  • I’m happy you guys are doing this but this was your reply regarding the Vita:

“Hey Stargazr, when we were developing Revelations for new platforms we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent.”

Then why make it a handheld game in the first place?

  • By any chance, we’ll be seeing a RE game on VITA this year?

  • Also, considering how the PSP was supposed to get a Resident Evil… but never did… the least they could do was give Vita a port of this one.

Oh Capcom, it’s like you want consumers to hate ya.

  • No Vita version? Seriously?

Capcom is a huge joke. And the price of the “HD” up-res ports is laughable. The reasons to dislike Capcom just keep rolling in.

See you at a 5-dollah Steam sale, if at all.

  • Seriously, as many comments said, no 3D = no buy. This game was made on 3D at first, there is no point to delete it now. Plus you said “we wanted every console to have the same version”. Xbox can do 3D and already do it in some games. And some websites discovered that WiiU can do 3D too (even the mablet is 3D-able, in anaglyph, they tested it).
So deleting 3D ? Bad move.

And if there is no move support, it’s another reason to not buy. As RE6. I won’t buy RE6 before a move patch (or even a Gold version on disc with move support, like RE5).
