    ‘My glass is also “half-full”.’

    Nice one :P

I think, when it comes down to it, it may just be a disagreement between optimists and pessimists. While some people have admitted to the discrepancy, it’s just not an issue for them because they view it as either small or it makes no impact for them. Furthermore, like yourself, they are only concerned with whether or not they’re getting their money’s worth.

If someone asked me that, I would also say yes, I already got my money’s worth. I got it on day of purchase with Infamous 2 and LBP2. But would I recommend it to a friend? Not really. That’s something SCEA should be thinking about. Word of mouth is more powerful than any other forms of marketing, and right now, I think it’s probably at an all time low (if not worse with negative word of mouth).

You’re right, we do get something as opposed to nothing, but I can’t help but lean towards writing “something less than the EU sub would get you” as opposed to nothing. I guess it’s just the pessimist in me.

Anyway, here’s to hoping next week’s update will shut me up ;)

  • It’s cute how we keep getting “free” $5-$15 games that are not any good. Bring back the old PS+ you know the one with multiple free good games? like minis, ps1 classics and full ps3 games?

If this continues i will have no regrets switching to Euro PS+ after my NA one runs out.

  • at least here in the states we have the excitement of weekly updates, monthly ones wouldn’t be nearly as fun.

  • Wow I also would prefer weekly updates – totally agree, a voice not heard so much on here.

Someone said “Mondays are starting to feel like Fridays” earlier…

That may be much but the update makes Mondays much more pleasant.

  • Morgan please answer my questions:
Is there anyway to switch my subscription to the EU PSN+?
If not, if i just subscribe in the EU one, do i keep the games?
If not for the above two questions, Is there a way to cancel my subscription and get refunded the remaining balance?
    Thanks

  • khaledseif1

    1) He and a few user have responded. There is not a way to switch your region or you PS+ account.

    2) You keep the US games as long as your US subscript remain paid. Once you do not renew, the free games will no longer be accessible. The game you purchased would.

    3) He responded to BoomstickHQ that he should talk to Sony customer service about a refund. Joegoodness said he talked to Sony CS and they said no, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t at least try to get a cancel and partial refund.

  • @ DonkeyKongKilla

Dude, are you serious? That time when I was changing the words in your username was just me simply goofing off. I made it as blatantly silly as possible so you’d know that. I had no idea it would hurt your feelings, honestly, that’s never my intention.

People insult me all the time too, in fact, I get attacked way more than I could ever do to others (since I’m usually getting ganged up on, seriously, it’s dramatically disproportionate) but, I don’t go crying to Morgan about it. Who cares, you know? I can roll with it, and defend myself if necessary. It’s just a blog. You shouldn’t let what is said here bother you anymore once you log off.

  • I always make points when I debate someone though, otherwise the whole thing would be a waste of time in my eyes.

People say I’m going after people who are dissatisfied with Plus, but it’s not really that. I’m trying to get through all your heads how absurd the complaints are… regardless of the subject. It just happens to be Plus, because that’s what the majority of ridiculous complaints are circulating.

I always point out WHY. I always explain WHY. I’m not just calling people names and leaving it at that. I think you guys know I’ve broken down your arguments, you don’t like it, and you don’t want to accept it. That’s why you attack me in return (not even my arguments, you just attack ME), and claim I’m the troll who just shows up to defend Sony. It’s got nothing to do with Sony. It’s all about informing those who don’t understand what’s really going on.

  • When Feb 20 i have a feeling PS Plus Members gonna get a LOT of stuff… hopefully maybe PSN US get the same stuff as PSN EU that worth a press conference

  • And yes, sometimes I may come off a little harsh, or rude, if you want to call it that, but that mostly stems from my disgust with humanity in general, combined with my belief that “tough love” is the only effective method of getting through to someone.

I really don’t have any patience remaining for certain things people do, and ignorant whining about ultimately insignificant nonsense is one of those things. It really is disgusting to see people complain about video games when you think about all the horrendous things that go unchecked in this unjust world. People who complain about video games on this blog just come off as being extremely selfish, inconsiderate, greedy, small-minded individuals who only care to consume consume consume… while giving nothing back to society. It’s all about “me me me” to these people. Parasites.

They never consider that other people may be interested and/or satisfied. And in fact, the majority of Plus subscribers ARE satisfied. But they plunk their heads in the sand and pretend that it’s not true. They pretend that EVERYONE is just as selfish as they are while they condemn Grace and Morgan, calling them liars, calling them incompetent, even though they haven’t been either of those.

  • I really can’t stand the comments that say something to the tune of, “the majority of PS+ subscribers are not happy with the service…”

Oh really? Care to back up the stats with scientific evidence? I could create 10 different accounts and come on here to post how much I think PS+ sucks, so using the comments posted here as a way to justify that is stupid. What about all the other people that surely outnumber the people complaining that are content and do not post about it?

Say what you will, but please do not for a second that you speak for everyone else on here, keep your stupidity to yourselves.

  • @thewoodyman

Interesting theory, but didn’t the announcement originally say “the future of PlayStation”? Would you equate the equality of EU and US PS+ to be the future of PlayStation?

  • @DonkeyKongKilla
Speaking of liars……Its funny to watch him scramble to rewrite history when one of the mods says that he’ll be keeping an eye on him. LMAO. I suppose he wasn’t trying to hurt my feelings (a total waste of effort) when he was calling me “death_by_fap-it” and other semi-vulgarities. Does he really think that there is anyone here that doesn’t know what a hateful troll he is? Or is he just lying to himself…

  • @TitleOne
“I could create 10 different accounts and come on here to post how much I think PS+ sucks”

yes you could, but you’d have to subscribe to PS+ under each of those accounts to get the gold plus icon. Nobody is that dedicated to trolling. If someone has the icon and is saying that they are dissatisfied, then it’s legitimate whether you agree with them or not. Speaking of which, where’s your icon?

  • “The future of Playstation” involves me and a couch….

  • @wabbit,

As I have mentioned to quite a few people, my brother and I share his account. I don’t want to post under his name, so I use this one. Last thing I want is for him to get mad at me again for getting messages from random people on his account, attacking and insulting me through PSN (yes, people on here really do send harassing messages to people, its that sad and pathetic).

My best friend knows the account details of his dad’s account, sister’s account, and his own account, someone like him could easily use all three accounts if he wanted to. Even people without the gold icon come here to talk negatively about PS+.

Trust me, there are some very sad and pathetic people out there that would do such a thing just to make themselves feel good about it.

I am not saying they do/do not have a legitimate concern or not, I’m saying its stupid to make a blanket statement and say that they are speaking for the majority of PS+ subscribers. I don’t want some tool saying that they speak for me and adding their dumb reasons why PS+ isn’t good according to them. Say what you will, but don’t lump us all into saying that you speak for us.

  • Soooo….Alien Breed is currently listed as a Free download for PS + users. I clicked on it and it started downloading right away. Approximately 30 seconds later I received an email from Sony thanking me for my $7.99 purchase….Not cool. Maybe they’ll make it free also to remedy the error. I’m about to contact support but I thought I should let you guys know not to click on it…

  • Waiting for the full ps3 game next week guys. Gives us something good.

  • @TitleOne
Okay, that makes sense tho I’ve never had any negative messages myself, I suppose if you piss enough people off you are bound to get a few…not that I’m implying that you have, I can just see the concern.

I’m sure that there are non subscribers who complain, but most of us (and probably Sony) don’t take those people seriously. Personally I feel that if you aren’t a subscriber then you shouldn’t have anything to say about it one way or the other.

I’m not sure of any percentages, I know that when Sony was making the polls public, most of the time the people who were dissatisfied were in the majority…why do you think that they made those results private? but lets say for the sake of argument that you are right, that the majority are happy with the service. Judging by how many complaints we see here in the blog, there are still enough people that are unhappy to warrant Sony’s attention. The reason that week after week people are getting more angry is that Sony doesn’t respond to their concerns

  • @shyguyrbr

Alien Breed isn’t free this week, it’s discounted to $7.99.

  • yeah alien breed showed up free for me to then i received an email. i dont want this game

  • @ TitleOne

You might have a hard time getting through to that guy, just a warning. He’s extremely insecure. I’ve been down that road with him already. If you make a point he doesn’t like, he’ll start attacking your personality or something similar. He’s got a real bad habit of not only acting like he speaks for everyone, but also reflecting his own negative characteristics onto others, and he’s also unable to recognize his own faults. Proceed with caution.

  • so much for your promise….who’s the liar now? Title_One & I were having a perfectly rational & reasonable discussion. There is no room for the likes of you in that. Mind your own business

  • Remember: blog.us.playstation.com/2012/12/31/playstation-store-update-272/comment-page-7/#comments

comment #306….don’t go away mad…just go away :)

  • @Mickf3t

    @shyguyrbr

That happened to me as well when I checked the store. I only got it because I thought it was free for both regular and plus users. I was even about to tell my friends who dont have plus that a free game was available. Yet, without telling that I was going to spend money nor the remaining amount that I would have left in my wallet afterwards, I was charged and notified when it was too late.

I also need to call someone to fix this up because I did not want this game. I only wanted to give it a try because it was free. Is there anything we can do? Also, since I never had any problems with the store, where should I go to report this issue? I dont mind if I lose access to the game. It is a good game, but i wasnt planning to get it now. I was saving money for the Dragonborn DLC and now I cant anymore without buying another PSN card.

    Thanks everyone

  • @Lohen002

Just keep an eye on the situation here:
    http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Plus-Support/Titles-Showed-Free-for-Plus-Members-Charged-In-The-Cart/m-p/39527381

Hopefully they’ll credit us back soon because I also did not actually want this game. I was simply downloading my weekly free additions to PS+. If i own the game I would probably give it a try but there is no way I would buy a game for $8 that I’ve never played or really even heard of.

  • Purchased Critter Crunch for a $1.40 at that price why not? Cute game, I like it.

  • @TitleOne

I CAN say the MAJORITY of us aren’t happy with the content we are given. HOW? Well let me hold your hand and guide you around for a moment. Have you done the polls from week to week at the top of these posts? Have you noticed for the last month or so they now block the results from being seen by us (customers) and why? Because for months in a row the poll results showed the…wait for it …MAJORITY of us were not happy with the content given to us.Hence why the blocked results, Morgan says it’s because we began talking about the polls but that was for us the majority of unhappy customers to prove our point that it wasn’t just one man or woman complaining but the vast majority of us not getting anything week in and week out that we have any interest in playing.

  • PS+ is something we pay for, they compare it to Netflix by saying they give us “free” games to play but if you end your membership you lose all rights to those games, similar to you not being able to watch movies on Netflix if you don’t pay for your membership. The difference being is that Netflix offers films in every genre and at least one movie is newer release every month aka quality content. PS+ gets you to sign up with Infamous 2 and Little Big Planet 2 and than once they hook in the new subscriptions they roll out 11 months of dribble. Are there some great releases, sure. From last year I kept 4 games. If we pay for content and you don’t deliver on the promised content…that makes unsatisfied customers. People say we’re complainers…I’m simply asking for what I paid for. PS+ EU gets more than they paid for, I simply wish for that same level of satisfaction. You wouldn’t hear me complaining on here if I got half the games EU+ gets. Sorry you’re so happy with below average games, it must be a boring existence you live.

  • there is no hope for NA ps+, maybe the discounts, but that too isnt enough, or the games arent to my liking.
All i want to know, if anyone knows, how can i get an EU account, i rather have both. But since I live in the US, it’s quite hard to get an EU account. if anyone knows please let me know. Thanks!!

  • @War

Lol, yeah buddy, I’m so sad I keep getting value of out my membership by getting to play games for free and discounted games. Yeah, its such a boring existence that I don’t judge a game because it looks like a kiddie artsy game. Do you realize how stupid what you said sounds? Lol, I wonder how many great games you must have passed up because you think they look cheap or like a kid’s game.

Go wallow in your misery, not even going to argue with someone who’s a glutton for disappointment

You have no one but yourself to blame. Did they ever say, we’re going to give you guys the same type of games each month from now on”? No.

The biggest thing that I thing though, is this. Dude, you are complaining over ~$4/month. Most of us, spend that on a gallon of gas.

  • If anything, they really need to find a way for members to cancel on a prorated basis, really tired of hearing so many damn complaints over a meager $4/month fee. You don’t find value in what we’re getting, sorry to tell you that’s your problem.

Please do us all a favor and don’t renew when your subscription ends and go join the EU PS+. Then maybe we can be spared from so many of these hollow complaints.

“oh no, I hope the next game given away isn’t a game that isn’t rated M, because that means its a kiddie game and some people don’t like that!”

  • Having just recently signed up for PS+ I thought it was a decent deal for the price and I got 3 extra months free on my subscription so that already impressed me.

Now the IGC is not exactly as awesome as I thought it would be, I can honestly say that Payday: The Heist, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Guardians Of Middle Earth, Closure are a decent start for me.

Just reading that there will be another full game release later this month is just another bonus. I can see why some are upset at certain titles being released elsewhere and have a right to demand equal value, but I am looking at the bigger picture.

From what I have seen here so far, most games released are in the 19.99 – 29.99 range. Over 15 months of my subscription I could potentially get 300.00 worth of games priced at 19.99 for a 50.00 subscription. That is more or less how I looked at the service when i decided to subscribe. Now i know everyone has a different outlook, but this is just my opinion.

As for people wanting Sleeping Dogs. I picked it up at Christmas for 19.99 and I am sure it will drop to that price soon enough.

  • @TitleOne,

I wouldn’t even try to have any sort of discussion with WAR0979.

There’s three types of people that complain on here that I’ve seen:
    1)Trolls
    2)People with valid criticisms
3)People who complain because they think games being offered suck because its not the game they wanted.

I don’t even try to have a meaningful response to anyone who isn’t a #2 type of complaint.

Seeing this guy in an earlier comment post how Closure looks like it was drawn by a toddler, just cements that he’s category #3, he’ll continue to spout the same nonsense just because EU gets other stuff, I’m sure he would still find something to cry about even if both regions got the same content.

Just ignore people like him, its not worth the headache, I literally feel like I regressed by a few IQ points when I read such absurd complaints.

  • At this point in the game us PS Plus users are pretty much just paying for that yellow plus logo next to our name. Keep going this route Sony and PS Plus will be another of your many failed ideas this gen. Why would anyone take you up on that 12 + 3 offer when the last couple of months have been a joke.

  • @ IconikBlo0dM0n3y,

    http://www.polygon.com/2012/11/29/3707306/525k-ps3s-and-160k-vitas-sold-during-black-friday-week-reports-sony

“During Black Friday week, PlayStation Plus subscriptions increased 259 percent compared to the same time period last year”

I really doubt they are in a position to worry about any members threats right now. During December, they had an insane 259% increase in PS+ subscriptions. That’s insane and unprecedented. By December, people fully well knew what types of games were being offered, and guess what? People still bought PS+.

The extra 3 months deal sold us to renew our subscription even though we still has 10 months left.

I really don’t think Sony has to worry about people threatening to not renew at this point, they clearly made a successful move. Numbers don’t lie.

  • @mnstrings @TitleOne

Come on, guys, as far as I can see WAR was offering his reasoning behind believing that the majority of Plus users are unhappy. While I stated earlier that people who are happy are less likely to post and that as a result the comments will be skewed towards negativity, the high negativity is still something real and tangible. Add to this the fact that the polls showed a very large sway towards dissatisfaction and you have a very strong case for the majority of Plus users being dissatisfied.

Neither of you provided a reason for why you believe that the majority of users are happy, and instead happily resorted to ad hominem against WAR. Maybe you both have some previous history with WAR that I’m not privy to, but what I see is a guy who stated reasoning behind his opinions, and two people attacking him without any.

Lastly, if people sign in with multiple accounts that have plus subscriptions, for example their siblings’, kids’ or parents’ accounts, they are still valid in complaining as it is still a subscribing member’s account and thus a valid vote. If the most vocal person in a family is dissatisfied with PLUS, I’m sure they can convince their family members of the same.

  • what’s with InFamous 2 and LBP2 still chillin in the library? You’ve rotated everything else out, those have been in there since the very beginning, lets see something fresh instead, or at least offer something else like InFamous FOB if you desperately want InFamous in there.

  • @WAR0979

Valid point. I know they blocked the poll results not to hide it, but more to keep the conversation away from the results. So the blog wouldn’t be litters with, see 1200 votes and 59.76% think your update is bad. A side effect from that is things could have changed, much like JoeGoodsnake said, there were far less negative comments on the week that darksiders was released.

I would like to see the result recently as since they went private they introduced the I have those games and don’t just have the nothing for me. I have no proof, but I suspect that the nothing for me won’t have a simple majority. However both would be seen as negative.

    @JoeGoodness,

Outside of using the same old poll result, is there really a way to judge how many are happy or even prove? I’m sure that Sony knows the number of subscribers and the numbers of who have downloaded the game of the week. I’m curious what the ratio is.

  • @TwinDad

That was my point, it’s one thing to moot the whole idea of the majority being unhappy by pointing out the flaws in the reasoning. Flaws that I can point out myself easily, even including the polls. For example, what percentage of the demographic of Plus Subscribers even looks at the blog updates?

However, to go further and say that the majority is happy is actually completely unfounded as there is no way to show that at all. At least, with a blind eye to certain factors, we can look at the poll and comments and come to a conclusion. But even with the inclusion of said factors, we can never be completely sure that people are satisfied; only Sony can and even then it’s doubtful if they can do it with any certainty.

The whole idea of whether people are happy or not is useless to argue anyway, as none of us can truly be sure. However, what we can be sure of, is that out of the group of Plus Subscribers that do show up on this blog, and the ones complaining on the Facebook page, the majority seems to be dissatisfied. And since these are public forums and will influence the way newcomers to either of these two venues will react, Sony should start doing something about it.

  • Please next week give us two great A+ rated games. I hate how we are never consist here in the plus section. And by what others think also its not always great in being a plus member. I feel like the best part is the cloud saves but the free games are not always something of interest. If only we can start to choose between the games per month it would make a big difference.

  • Stop the whining you kids, go play some braindead FPS while we the adults play some good creative platform puzzler.

  • @478 (JoeGoodSnake)

Yet another person who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

“As for PS+ being optional, while it is, false representation is what got most of us into the subscription in the first place.”

    What false representation was there?

“Add to that the fact that we can’t even cancel our subscriptions once we discover the charade, and you have a recipe for mass complaints every week.”

Is this a joke? Of course you can’t cancel a subscription when you’ve paid for a year in advance. This isn’t a month-to-month thing. You simply don’t renew after the year is up. Why would you want to cancel right now if you A) don’t get a refund and B) lose out on your remaining months of free games and discounts?

  • @485 (JoeGoodSnake)

You talk about Closure and Rochard being crap after you say that you judge games on price, critical reception and date of release. Well, guess what? Closure and Rochard are recent titles, got great reviews, and cost around $10. PS+ costs $6/month at worst, $4.17 or lower at best for regular price.

The worst part about your complaint is that Rochard was an extra game! SSF4, Bioshock 2, and Anomaly Warzone Earth, and Retro City Rampage were other free games of the month. Foosball was free for the Vita, but since it’s a cross-buy game, we also got it for the PS3. Now if you only own a Vita and didn’t like the game, that sucks. If you’re complaining about getting a 5th game in January for free, then that’s just silly.

  • Can we get a monthly update instead of weekly? Thanks

  • @TitleOne, So let me get this all summed up, I’m suppose to be happy they keep giving games nobody wants to play? They went through all of 2012 without one RPG, not one. How is that making it fair to ever member. You like fighting games, well they gave us a million of those and FPS no problem, you want gameless art games, well we just got another one. For crying out loud they went as far as to please LOTR fans before RPG fans. I can not figure out how SONY can’ t secure a single RPG for Plus in over a year now. I’m sorry we can’t all be mindless sheep like yourself and say thank you for getting two horrible games in a row. I’M so sorry we can’t be yes men like yourself. Whatever works for you, is just fine. I’m not asking your opinion of my opinion. They want comments on what we think and I tell them what I think. Some people have the IQ to understand that people are unhappy with the service they are getting. I’m SO happy you love every game that comes out and you have NO complaints about anything. Congrats to you sir, you have no opinion of your own. Next week Sony will give you a turd and you can tell everyone how awesome it is and how we are so stupid not to see the value in it. Baaaaahhhhhhh

  • OH and @TitleOne, your stats about the huge leap in Plus members is true…that’s including the the massive amount of free memberships they gave away at E3 and other conventions, including them in multiple games and new system releases. Now let’s see what that number drops to when all those free 1 year subscriptions run out and then we can discuss how well things are actually working.

  • WHO THE HELL ARE PICKING THESE LAME ASS GAME Dude!!!! They Suck! Europe still are getting!!! ROck solid Games & The Usa members are getting screwed who ever that is picking these Games for UsA Member do Not need a Job & should be fired Then Stoned while getting boo’d
