Twisted Metal Birthday Bundle

Hey all! I wanted to drop by PlayStation.Blog to help celebrate the one-year anniversary of Twisted Metal for PS3!

“What?!?” I hear you say, “The game’s already been out for a year?!?” Indeed it has! Crazy how time flies, huh?

Seems like only yesterday some of y’all were telling me I was an idiot for focusing the new game on three characters versus a larger cast like we did in the earlier TM games. Ah, good times, good times.

But seriously, on behalf of myself and the amazing Twisted Metal teams from Eat Sleep Play and Sony, please allow me to say thanks to all of the Twisted Metal fans who showed up to support this latest explosion of carnage and meaty gameplay.

While our online community is by no means the biggest in gaming, it’s so exciting to see that it’s very much alive and kicking. It’s easy to find games, and new players are hitting the scene each and every week. We’ve gone through a number of post-launch tuning passes, and other than a handful of annoying glitches we just can’t address (remote bomb transportation, anyone?), we feel the multiplayer in this new Twisted Metal (both online and 2-4 player local splitscreen) is the best it’s ever been!

So jump online this week a-…huh? What’s that you are saying now?!? You haven’t even tried the new Twisted Metal yet?!? And you! Yeah, the one wearing the Battletoads sweatshirt standing in the back trying to ‘blend in’. You say you’ve never tried anyTwisted Metal game?!? Well land sakes alive, you’ve done come to the right Twisted Metal PS3 Anniversary post! Check this out:

Starting later today, February 12th and running for only one week, PSN is running the following Twisted Metal sale:

  • Get Twisted Metal PS3 for only $29.99! That’s right, the latest and greatest Twisted Metal for PS3 is on sale for one week only at a super low-price that’s even crazier than Sweet Tooth!
  • Get Twisted Metal (PSone Classic) for just $4.99. Yep, the one that started it all is now for sale digitally, for the first time ever!
  • Get Twisted Metal 2 (PSone Classic) for $4.99 as well! For many, TM2 is the best in the series. If you dig splitscreen competitive gaming, this is the one to pick up!
  • Twisted Metal Black (PS2 Classic) hits for $7.99 and yes, it does contain all of the gruesome, sick, twisted, and disturbing movie endings! For those not in the know, Twisted Metal Black is the game that took the comic book, T-rated universe of the PSone-era games and steered it into the dark, sinister universe that we all know and love today.
  • And if you’ve got a real sweet tooth for car combat, pick up all of the above via a little something we like to call the Twisted Birthday Bundle, for just $39.99! Man, that’s a lot of depraved (but deep) vehicle combat for very little cash!

So there you have it. I hope you agree: PSN is throwing Sweet Tooth and the gang one hell of a birthday party! I hope you’ll be there to help celebrate some of the best car combat the biz has to offer (if I may say so myself!) And I hope to see you online with Twisted Metal PS3! It’ll be fun to kill you!

Oh and don’t forget: go to TwistedMetal.com to create your very own custom vehicle skins to take into your online battles and to download from the countless skins the community has already created and uploaded!

Stay Twisted y’all! And thanks so much – as always – for all of the amazing support you’ve given the series over the years!

Ha awesome…I already have TM Limited Edition for PS3 which contains Black…so I’ll be getting TM and TM2 and relive the good old days of fun on PS1.

@ 5 jk12324 – You gotta be kidding…$40 for all that games is very cheap.

Great news David! – I’m a big fan. Thanks for posting here!

I have one question that I was hoping you may be able to help me and others get an answer to – - – - – Over a year ago, way back in January of 2012, I purchased the PSP Double Pack of “Motorstorm Arctic Edge / Twisted Metal: Head On” right after it hit PSN in anticipation of playing the titles on my pre-ordered PS Vita (I’ve never owned a PSP). After the Vita was released we learned that not all digital PSP games on the store were going to be playable at launch, but were told more psp titles would be playable on the Vita soon. The last I heard on this came ages ago…

Can anyone give us some insight on this? I bought these games 13 months ago and never have been able to play them – LOL. If compatibility is never coming, I guess I should try to get a refund but I’d really rather play the games. They’re the only ones in the respective series I’ve never played.

Throw in that Battletoads sweatshirt and, you’ve got a deal.

Will definitely pick this up. However, since the odds are good that you’ll be back on here to see what the TM trolls are up to, something’s been bothering me for awhile, David.

When you were on The Tester, did you want to be anywhere else but watching them slap together some shotty toy ice cream truck or, did it just look that way? Seriously, you did not look like you were having fun, at all.

Twisted Metal 2 has been for me the best Twisted Metal EVER!!!! I remember spending hours and more hours playing it in split screen. Crash Bandicoot Team Racing, and Twisted Metal were and still are my favorites PS games ever. That’s why I will stay with the old say “Never Meet your Heroes” …

Any chance of getting Twisted Metal Head On: Extra Twisted Edition on PSN? My backwards compatible PS3 is no longer working and I’d love to play this game again! If not, is there a plan for it to be available some day?

Well TM4 was my first Twisted Metal and the only PS1 one I played, and I loved the splitscreen in that one. But TM2 has the best splitscreen you say? I may have to take you up on that offer. TM PS3 beta was pretty fun too so I may just end up picking up the entire thing. We’ll see…..

It’d be nice if David was interested in making more new games for PS3 besides Twisted Metal. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun game (played it at a friend’s house), but it’s obvious that Jaffe has other great ideas (look at the gem we got with the first GoW). Sony needs to convince Jaffe that he needs to let his imagination loose on the PS3 once more.

Twisted Metal is my favorite game series (tied with Persona). Maybe one day Rogue Trip Vacation 2020 will be available to download.

Best car combat games in my opinion are:

1. Twisted Metal PS3
2. Rogue Trip
3. TM2
4. TM Black
5. TM head on
6. Vigilante 8 2nd offense
7. TM1

WWE crush hour
Twisted metal 3

The online in TM is broken…there was one person on the other day. It doesn’t work, and it sucks. Either fix it or give up sony.

+ Miggy11 on February 12th, 2013 at 10:06 am said:

@39

I played online all last weekend. There are usually a minimum of 15 games at one time going on. I am able to play in full games in any game mode.

41

+ I_Montano_I on February 12th, 2013 at 10:09 am said:

@40 well you must be in another dimension, because at 2pm EST there was ONE game with ONE person in it. The game is broken and more empty than Max Payne 3.

+ Miggy11 on February 12th, 2013 at 10:12 am said:

were you at the suggested games list? go to all games and there will be more. I am trying to be nice here, and no i am not in another dimension.

No love for Twisted Metal: Head On???? Please make this game playable on my vita!!!! Right now there are not that many games available for the vita; allowing vita users to play one of the best PSP games, would help fill a void. Thanks for reading. Also a Twisted metal vita game would be great.

Has it been a year now? Time really does fly. I never did bother to redeem the online pass nonsense since multiplayer isn’t my cup of tea. I did greatly enjoyed the singleplayer stuff, wish there was more of it! :) That reversible cover art was a nice and welcome touch.

I see one thing missing from this sale however: the TM 2012 soundtrack! I picked that up along with the game last year and it’s certainly a good listen. :D

47

+ MarinoBrea on February 12th, 2013 at 10:26 am said:

Just get Black, the rest you can skip. The old PSone games are only good for nostalgia, not much else. PS3 Twisted Metal is an insult to the franchise, a game without focus with a flaw concept and a half-ass execution, not to mention the multiplayer is glitched still after 1 year, not worth 10 bucks. So pick up Black, it’s the only quality product on that list.
