First PS3 Skyrim DLC, Dragonborn, Lands Today

Skyrim: Dragonborn DLC

The wait is over! For the next three weeks, we’ll be releasing a new Skyrim add-on each week on PSN. This week, with Dragonborn, you’ll journey beyond Skyrim to Solstheim, an island off the coast of Morrowind. Use all your abilities and skills honed in Skyrim to save the island from a mysterious power that threatens to destroy Solstheim’s inhabitants.

Beyond Dragonborn’s main quest, the content is packed with hours of new areas to explore complete with new characters, new towns, new dungeons and plenty of new side quests to complete. And for elite players that have attained Level 81 status, you’ll have a chance to square off with the game’s fiercest adversary, The Ebony Warrior.

For more details on Dragonborn, available for 50% off ($9.99) during launch week only, read our list of features below:

  • Explore Beyond Skyrim – Leave the province of Skyrim and travel to the coastal island of Solstheim. Encounter the Dark Elven settlers of Raven Rock and the native Skaal, as you unravel the mystery of a Dragonborn’s return.
  • Become the Ultimate Dragonborn – Harness the power of the Voice as you face off against the first Dragonborn. Wield new shouts and spells including Dragon Aspect – allowing you to summon the inner power of a dragon to deliver colossal blows and strengthen other shouts.
  • New Powers – Discover dark powers as you journey into a new Daedric realm. Collect books of forbidden knowledge and choose new paths for your skills and abilities.
  • New dungeons, creatures, weapons, and more – Suit up in Bonemold and Chitin armors and wield Stalhrim weapons as you navigate through a myriad of dungeons. Battle formidable foes like Ash Spawn, Rieklings, and more.

Next week we’ll be back with information on next Tuesday’s release, Hearthfire.

  • umm at what time cus its Like 12 right …

  • Guess I’ll have to wait till the afternoon to see it in the store then…

  • this is fantastic – I have Skyrim in my backlog, bought the guide book & will put my map up … great time to get going on this, with the DLC finally landing on PSN & at 50% off …. very cool, thanks !

    • You’re welcome. We know you guys have been waiting a long time for this and we’re excited for you to play it.

  • It’s just about 12:20 and it’s still not here.. what time will it be released?

  • no midnight release? I suppose I’ve waited this long, can wait a little longer. Just disappointing

  • further discount for plus members?

  • When is it gonna be here?!?!?! NEED DLC!

  • DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!

    UDATED THE STORE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ive been checking since midnight… only 12 hours wasted!!

  • Is everyone new or something? When you see a store update on the blog, then you’ll be able to find this long awaited, yet completely untested DLC, in the eyes of most people. If only Bethesda would release actual play footage from the PS3…

  • @1 the store ALWAYS updates between 3pm and 7pm pacific time

  • meh. :)

  • Matt I will be more than happy to give this dlc, and all dlc, a purchase as soon as Skyrim is released digitally on PSN..

  • About time. I held off playing much of Skyrim because of the DLC issues. Although I got my copy as a gift I just wasn’t interested in a game that much with the DLC fiasco. Now I’m willing to try to get back into the game again.

  • its 12:43 now, when is this going to be on the store?? My boner wont last all day.. :(

  • I’ll pass until a GOTY version of Skyrim is released. I already platinumed the game and traded it in over a year ago.

Bethesda, or as many refer to them in the overall gaming community “Bugthesda”, is considered a dirty name by many in the PlayStation community, and they have a lot of making up to do for continually shoving poorly done ports down our throats.

I may not even get the GOTY version that will inevitably be released a year or two down the road, at least until Bethesda proves that they can properly code games for the PS3 with their next in house developed title.

I probably won’t hold my breath though, they have had well over 6 years to figure the PS3 out with little success, while other developers have made absolute gems in that same timeframe.

  • Yay I’m just going to get this DLC just to count all the crashes and bug’s I’ll come across.. The DLC should be free it’s been way too long.

  • WOW…. i cant believe so many of you are going to support them by buying this DLC.

I dont even play this game, BUT i know for a fact that any Developer that takes as long as it did to release DLC on the PS3 when ALL it’s DLC has been out for another system for the longest doesnt deserve the consumers money.

7 years into the PS3 life cycle and they couldnt figure out how to make DLC work for the game on the PS3? Really?

All you guys are doing is showing them they can delay things for the PS3 as long as they want and still have consumers dumb enough to buy it

  • I just want to point out that this is a good opportunity for people to vote with their wallets. I can’t recall exactly how long PS3 users have been waiting for this DLC but it is long enough to justify more than a 50% discount. Especially since 360 users are getting THE SAME DEAL. In my honest opinion I can’t believe that the 360 users are getting the same deal when they have been enjoying all the game has to offer since day one. Not good enough Bethesda, not good enough.

  • Thanks for getting us the PS3 DLC, late is better than never (which rumours were suggesting) and the half off during release is a nice way to make it up to us for the long wait.

I’ll be grabbing this as soon as I see it in the PSN store, thanks for getting it to us!

  • Is there a patch to download as well? If so, how big is it? And how big is the DLC download? Just trying to plan ahead :)

I agree the wait was ‘too long” but my son and I are excited for the DLC, and appreciate the efforts to get it to work on PS3. Thanks for the discount too. At the end of the day, Skyrim has been one of our favorite games. I still listen to the soundtrack regularly!

    • The 1.8 title update is available now… it’s about 109 MB.

      Fixes/changes include

      General memory and stability improvements
Fixed rare crash when using vampiric grip
Fixed issue where Arnleif and Sons Trading Company could become permanently locked
Fixed issue related to duplicate NPCs
Fixed rare issue where exterior door would not open properly

  • maybe its stupit question buth can someone tell me that minecraft is comming to the ps3 *ever* or not *never*

  • Reading all the comments and can’t leave it alone.

Bethesda should be more considered with PS3 users.

We are in the border of a big announcement by Sony and at the same time get this “far too late” release with the same promotion as xbox users, whose already have the content available. :S

I really like Skyrim bur feel like being neglected by Bethesda on this deal…

Something like getting all the expansions in a pack with a good discount…

Thinking about not getting these DLC’s in response to the lack of commitment from Bethesda… :)

  • @19 quit complaining..if u never played the game, you dont even realize how epic the game was without the dlc… i’ve spent over 80 hours into the game, and looking forward to doubling that with the patch and dlc.

thanks bethesda! love the score in the game as well!

  • gosh you guys, show some respect & support … they put out patches & clearly never waivered from getting this to PS3 customers … if you want to forgo the DLC b/c of your upset fine, but no need to be hostile … for awhile it was looking like they wouldn’t even make it to PSN, & getting 50% off for expansive DLC packs is pretty nice …. I’m glad I waited to play, now it will be fresh & all available …. I have read many recent posts that indicate the game plays on PS3 fine now ….

  • The DLC is 50% off on Xbox Live too, Bethesda is trying to fooling PS3 owners again LOL

  • Do you know how big the Dragonborn file is?

  • After getting slap on for more than 3 months, I still don’t see an Apology of some kind, or a treat for us, I will only buy this DLC because I love Skyrim , nonetheless I won’t buy any other product or content from Bethesda EVER!

  • @25

yeah so epic that it had all those bugs & from what i hear there are still issues with some ppl…. SMH at blind loyalty

  • @27 most of the dlc been available on 360 tho…since June if my mind serves me correct..

  • Its now 12:35, i saw a tweet that said dragonborn would be out “later this afternoon”, and there was a press release that said Europe would get it at or around 3pm so i believe us in the U.S. should get it before or around that time, its just a waiting game now.

  • Hey wait, @27 why does xbox get it half off? PS3 owners have waited a year and 4 months for this and the half off is the “thanks for waiting” present that we get, plus we get it with the 1.8 update which supposedly has alot of bug fixes and stuff so yeah can’t wait

  • Sorry, but show respect and support for a company who treated PS3 owners like second class consumers, shipping a broken game? No thanks. It is sad to see people defending them, because there is no excuse to treat you guys like the way they did It.

  • @28
786.95 MB (or close to it)

    @unhappy fans
We only lost time, micro$oft lost money.(better late then never)

    @8
    *UPDATE (dood)

  • Matt,if there is no digital release, how am I supposed to buy this DLC!?

  • you rilly ought to not be moaning about having to wait… WE, subjected to SCEE as we are in EU/AU/NZ wont be getting ours until tomorrow sometime , if we even get ours at all cos everyone knows SCEE is lackadaisical about putting-out these things. And if you say supposed bad stuff about Bethesda games, like I did questioning on their forums before Skyrim came out that I was worried about the game freezing, bugging and glitching on PS3 like Fallsouts3 and NV had the years before, then you will get publically branded a TROLL and a FLAMER for no reason by their mods… pubically. And I was putting my concerns nicely. So I’m the reason the dlc are so late. Methesda was getting back at me for questioning their infallability and godlikenessises. They rilly ought to get a hairsutecut and fess up to the fact that it’s not 1984 any more (except for in Armorica (armorica is a space in Morrowwurld)) and start making games for console istead of games for wang/IBM.
    So there…

  • yes dlc is out thx sony cant wait for hearthfire

  • I’m not going to criticize the harsh comments. As one very familiar with Skyrim and its problems,I think it’s quite understandable. And expected. I bought an Xbox just so I could play Skyrim again but with voice controls. The vanilla game did run better on the X but the first DLC, Dawnguard introduced a lot of bugs that continue in the game. Hearthfire and Dragonborn, for me, had virtually no new bugs.

I obviously love Skyrim. I’m going to replay the DLC on my preferred PS3. I have one piece of advice to those of you who will buy the DLC–buy them with the discount, but the last one, Dawnguard, was the first one and introduced an NPC that is so awesome that the majority of us kept her as our favorite follower. I bet you’ll feel the same so you might want to wait and play that one first. You won’t regret that, but again, DG was the buggiest part of the Xbox Skyrim experience so SAVE OFTEN, keep your saves, reload when you suspect something is going awry.

  • It’s almost noon, no Dragonborn. Dawnguard should have been released first, since being able to craft Dragonbone weapons & arrows should have been in the game w/o DLC. I own Skyrim on Xbox and the bugs have been far worse than on PS3. There were several bugs that would not let me proceed through a quest, which I had to delete my level 60 character twice. I’d rather deal with some lag and a couple texture glitches, than having to start all over again.

  • While I am excited about new content for Skyrim I am disappointed that Bethesda continues to favor Microsoft with exclusive rights for such a long period of time. To name a few Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and now Skyrim. This says a lot of what Bethesda thinks about us (PS3 Owners) as customers, regardless of whether Microsoft pays for the rights. I am voting with my money and will be waiting to pick up the GOTY Edition used.

  • again….the store updates between 3pm and 7pm PACIFIC..STOP TROLLING.

  • I’ll quote one of my favorite Skyrim followers J’zargo: no9dream is ready for more adventure!

Don’t listen to the milk drinkers. I put over 600 hrs into my 1st play through and around 100 so far on my 2nd, and I experienced only minor bugs. Most the bugs I did encounter I was able to work around. It just took persistence and some creative thinking on my part.

I’m just stoked to be getting this DLC and at a discount. Sold! & Thank you Bethesda for my favorite game. Epic. I’ll definitely be playing later today.

  • The 1.8 patch for Skyrim PS3 did absolutely NOTHING in terms of performance improvements and any DLC will only serve to further exacerbate the existing issues just as with Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas on PS3.

The reason that the DLC is half off is so that Bethesda can, once again, trick PS3 players into paying for a broken product.

Should you choose to buy this you will be actively paying money to make your already dismal Skyrim experience even worse.

  • @43 I’ve played at least 2000 hours total on my first.

  • @33

hexhox gets it ‘alf olf because the dlc have been out so long, it’s time on their half-life, to be stationed and priced that way… Plus Micro$it has an inferiority complex (look at all the exclusives they divide and blackmail the gaming community up by and for). If they thinjk ONE ps3 owner might go over to the hex-side thru cutting prices, blackmailing devs to go exclusive and being utter wankers to boot, then they will stay their course to achieve that ONE former PS3er’s end… To the detriment of gamers, of earth humanity (but not to the detriment of the wankers, whom sold their soles to the hex aeons ago). May the farce be with thee, playah…

  • @YungShep – Thank you, for the time frame.

  • considering all the BS ps3 owners have had to put up with from these Bethesda games (from delayed dlc to glitchy buggy gameplay) these dlc should have been given out free to us Plus members. Even at half price, i’m not giving Bethesda a single cent.

  • Sweet! My brother and I can’t wait for this to realease in a couple of hours. I’m so stoked! lol, I keep checking every 5 minutes if it has realeased yet.

  • That new enemy looks super weak. Almost scared to download this my ps3 just restored its hd on its own luckily almost everything is there but it said 3 games were corrupted. Since i have over 120 digital games it might take me awhile to see what if anything is gone.
