It’s that time of the year again! Today, we have the pleasure of announcing this year’s lineup of great titles for the third annual PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards. As we have in previous years, we’re opening up the polls and hoping that you’ll make your voice heard to determine the best downloadable PSN titles. We’ll again have three nominees across 10 categories that will feature the top-rated and most popular games of 2012.
Starting later today through February 25th, you can visit PlayStation Store or the Sony Entertainment Network Online Store to cast your vote in any of the categories by downloading a free XMB theme. Remember, your votes will determine who wins in every category – not to mention that winning titles will then go on sale for a limited time.
Once you’ve cast your vote, check back here next Tuesday to see which titles came out on top. Starting later that day when the PS Store updates, the winning game in each category will be discounted in the PS Store for one week, with an even deeper discount for PlayStation Plus members.

@50 Did you read what I said the collection has? Journey is like $15 on PSN. In the collection,you get 3 full games, 3 never before released mini games, soundtracks for all 3 games, concept art and so on.
Glad to see nominations for The Unfinished Swan, Sound Shapes and Velocity. Velocity in particular needs a lot more recognition, especially considering the fact that a lot of people probably overlooked it due to the Mini branding. Journey gets a lot of deserved praise, but I found all three of those games to be superior, especially from a gameplay perspective. They rivaled even retail releases as my three favorite games of 2012.
Papo & Yo deserves some credit too. The execution may not have been flawless, but it is the most cathartic experience I’ve ever had with a game.
Journey deserves every accolade… amazing game, and my pick for GOTY 2012.
Yeah, I know what it comes with, I researched it on Amazon.
I’ve already played Flower when it came out, and the minigames+Flow don’t really appeal to me in justifying a $30 purchase.
I missed out on Journey when it was on sale last time for like $5 or so and just want to pick it up at a cheap price.

@55 I didn’t care for Flow or the mini games, just Journey & Flower. This was the 3rd collection I had bought that came with 2 or more games included.

Once again this vote forces people to decide if they want to vote for their favorite games or the ones they want a discount on. Either it shouldn’t be called Gamers’ Choice Awards, or something needs to be thought of to fix this dilemma.
Also, are you restricted to nominating only titles whose publishers are okay with giving a discount? This would also make the Gamers’ Choice Awards mean even less.
Perhaps have the Gamers’ Choice Awards have nothing at all to do with the discounts, and you can include many more worthy nominees in each category, b/c 3 does not encompass all of the worthy nominees for an award. Then separately have a large pool of games full for people to vote on what they want a discount on. You could even group the discount voting into separate genre categories as well if you want.
Anyways, I’m voting for Walking Dead and Rainbow Moon in hope of a discount.
@49 the games that were nominated were based off votes in the psn store…you know where those 5 stars are….that determined every game that made this list…i tried my hardest to make a concious effort to vote on all the games i did buy.
and i notice how 3D was just taking off the nominees all together….GOD SONY, WHY DO YOU MAKE ME BELIEVE THAT YOUR AS INVESTED IN EVERYTHING YOU SAY YOU ARE, WHEN YOU REALLY AREN’T..

Morgan, can you answer us that, please? It would be a shame to lose a discount just because the game won 3 times… If Journey win 3 times, we could get it in the ICG, or give the discount to the second place.
As for the voting, it’s a shame Persona 3: FES won’t be able to win, but I’m voting for it anyway.

i think @64 is right about only specific games were included because they were able to get the publishers to lend a discount on them. Thats why the choices aren’t great.
@70 no it was never apart of IGC it got a day 1 discount and nominated for a grammy
@72 the games listed are based on user votes in the ps store…if you bought a game u have a right to rate it from 1-5, all the titles are based off that rank. they said that last year

I hope you guys realize this probably also gives Sony an idea of what games we like and we’d like to see. So if we just vote for games because we want them discounted, they could very well get the impression we’d rather have this random stuff, instead of things we actually truly enjoyed.
And on that note, everyone vote for Legend of Dragoon! I would be ridiculously happy if they made a sequel to that.
The games I think are best are different from games that I’d want a discount on.
I’d rather see the discount for the winner taken off and maybe a smaller sale given to all nominees? Maybe offer the sale the same week as the voting so it encourages people to give the nominees a chance if they haven’t already.

making everyone happy would consist of more AAA games listed.. like someone said above Persona 4 golden, i personally would like Ragnarok Odyssey on vita…but of course we get the option to pick 1 titles and 2 of which are already listed as ps+ titles, so theres no incentive at all for those..

Since there’s so few in each category to choose from, and most categories are missing the best games (I guess so they don’t have to have a good sale) there’s absolutely no reason for me to vote this year.
I can see a few people liking a few games on here if they don’t have them, but only 3 per category? Having the same game in multi categories? Doesn’t matter how much you discount the winners when the selection sucks to begin with.
Can’t wait to see the backlash when journey wins three categories…
