The Drop: Week of February 25th 2013 New Releases

Rey Gutierrez's Avatar Posted by on Feb 24, 2013 // Senior Social Media Specialist

The rumor going around Sumaru City is that if you call your own cell phone number, you will speak to the Joker, who will assassinate the person of your choice… and rumors in Sumaru City have a funny way of coming true. On assignment with hip youth magazine Coolest, daring young reporter Maya Amano stumbles onto the Joker’s trail at Seven Sisters High School.

A convergence of fate brings Maya, her roommate, and a police detective together in pursuit of the maniacal assassin. Will they awaken the power within before it’s too late to stop the evil forces behind him?

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment comes to PSone classics on PSN. Enjoy this week The Drop.

Mud Fim Motocross: World Championship — Motocross is an off-road discipline that combines many key factors of sports such as passion, emotions, skills, thrills and adrenaline, offering an exclusive mix of excitement, glamour and fervid competition. These elements, together with all the real tracks and riders, will be part of the official videogame. Straights, corners, jumps, slides: there is nothing smooth about Motocross but riders are there to shape it up. The ending is always a surprise. This is why bike enthusiasts get excited, and this is why gamers will love the videogame.

PSone Classic

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment — A demonic trickster called The Joker has cursed Sumaru City, home to the Seven Sisters High School. His curse has the ability to turn rumor into fact, which causes all sorts of trouble. Gradually gruesome murders fill the land the school’s principal happens to be one of the victims and all sorts of monsters and demons begin showing up. Maya Amano, a cub reporter for a popular teen magazine is on the case, and she’s determined to get to the bottom of things.

Maya and her party set out on an engaging RPG adventure filled with fun twists. There are huge, hulking monsters than can be outwitted and scared off rather than outfought, and an innovative rumor system that can trigger events that will create entirely new story arcs and let you get your hands on valuable objects. Sprinkled throughout the game are 80 personal summons, or magic spells. You’ll meet stronger and more powerful foes the higher your levels of magic grow, until in the end it’s down to you and the Joker.

Thank you for using your brain. Most people don’t do that anymore.

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Great.

No backward compatibility is making me rethink my digital purchases and PS+ in general. If I get a PS4, I won’t have room to keep the PS3 hooked up and that means my entire digital library is useless. My physical PS3 games can be sold but my digital ones are just wasting money.

“If I get a PS4, I won’t have room to keep the PS3 hooked up”

Do you live in an igloo?

Make room.

Is the God of War demo different than the one that came with the Total Recall Blu-ray?

Good news, I want Persona 2: Eternal Punishment badly. Bad news, Sony hasn’t given me my $10 despite the fact that I have given them TONS of money over the years.

Thank you Sony. :|

It makes me sad knowing that Sony considers Dora the Explorer a Playstation Classic. Whatever happened to the Megaman X series, or what about other classics or even more Japan imports. I know one thing is that I’m not much with parents buying that for kids.

Why did you change the post and delete the info about the f2p Uncharted MP? Why are some people getting 10 dollar vouchers for “loyalty” and others aren’t? I’ve spent a proverbial crap ton of money on Sony and the PSN since day one, and I haven’t gotten said voucher. Why won’t anyone from Sony actually confirm or deny the Uncharted thing or the voucher thing?

You’re pulling some shady BS…

+ GenbuMaboroshi on February 25th, 2013 at 10:57 am said:

Is this ATLUS’ way of telling us we’re never getting the PSP remake of P2:EP in the states?

I received my $10 voucher after I completed a survey Sony sent to me by email. It’s my guess that if you completed the survey you got the voucher.

@ 156 PrimeroIncognito

When I saw the other guys post I was like
I won’t have room?

Then I saw your post and laughed.
These people did not pay attention to what they were saying about PS4.
Lets just say it is too early to say PS4 can’t play games from her predecessors.

+ GRIM__REAFER on February 25th, 2013 at 5:16 pm said:

Oh and the Uncharted MP F2P…………what happen with that?
Too soon?
or even wrong region?
That is messed up, was actually looking forward to that sort of.

I would be very surprised if digital releases were not compatible on the PS4. Shouldn’t jump to conclusions until they give us all the facts.

People need to relax about the “no backward compatibility”

This was taken from the Los Angeles Time

“No backward capability…yet: The PS4 won’t be able to play PS2 or PS3 games, it’s true. But Sony’s stated hope is that eventually, by utilizing the cloud and the PS4′s existing streaming abilities, that emulation of the entire PlayStation line’s library of games will be possible at some point.”

Have some patience people. The console isn’t even out yet.

Why are people whining about Dora in a week that we’re also getting a $100+ new PSone game on PSN?

+ Dangisuckatgamin on February 25th, 2013 at 11:15 pm said:

Because this drop is not good at all. And i’m not the only one saying that.

All those hating on the Dora game… I have something to tell you, and I’ll be as gentle as possible, since obviously no one has ever told you this before…

here it goes… brace yourselves…

The world doesn’t revolve around you.

Yes, scary for you, I know, but true. There are millions who own PS3 systems. MANY have children. Yes, miniture versions of adults with minds of mush. Those little things like to play games too! Yes! They DO! Well, Seems that the PS3 doesn’t market a whole lot to the younger crowd. It seems up to it’s neck in shooters, violent & gory GOW clones, and games that promote the criminal elements… VERY few cutesy platformers or saturday morning cartoon characters on the PS3… The PS2, however, had a buttload of ’em, INCLUDING Dora.

Kids (I have two young boys) LOVE Dora and Diego. They learn as well as are entertained. I’m ALL for Sony porting more kid-friendly content to the PSN. Every little bit helps close the gaping hole in Sony’s entertainment structure… that of family and kid friendly content. I say Bravo! Sony! Keep up the great work!

+ Elvick_ on February 26th, 2013 at 5:05 am said:

@178: This isn’t every game released, it never is despite someone arguing with me otherwise. I’ve seen it every week, and every week more games are released than put on the Drop. This is a lazily made drop, in that there was little effort put into this article, but more content is coming than this.

Persona 2: EP is a perfect classic to put up. It’s rare, it’s expensive. Having Dora on there too is not a big deal.

And no platform has AAA releases every week, all year. :/

+ SynthR on February 26th, 2013 at 9:34 am said:

Enough with the Dora ports, for the love of Diego! Why does Dora even have that many titles? Come on. Bring some actual PS2 classics to the store. All the little kids are playing Nintendo games, not old PS2 ports on their parent’s PS3.

Your “new releases” section is cluttered with DLC:

That should have its own separate category or be displayed differently.

+ VVaspInatoR on February 26th, 2013 at 1:25 pm said:

@ SynthR 181. EXACTLY! Not only just ps2 but many ps1 games that can and should be up for digital DL. Well hopefully they just make a emulator for the ps4 with free access to complete PS selection. Hope this week’s update is early.
