I’m not sure myself, but considering that the offerings between the two services were very close prior to the introduction of the IGC, I’m not sure how much effect the publisher does have. While it certainly comes into play, that previous fact stops me from believing it’s the sole reason for the difference.

Either way, I know not everyone’s on my boat with this, but even if similar games can’t be secured for NA, I think we can beef up value by simply adding PS1 and PS2 games, or by adding more PSN titles to add value. This is something they should at least consider once it’s been shown without any doubt (if it can be) that the value is off.

  • @joegoodsnake2

Good point. I think a quick and easy way to solve some of the disparity is to offer insane discounts on new releases. When I say insane, I’m talking “40% Day 1Digital” insane (I’m a little biased towards discounts). EU discount promotions are just terrible, so I think SCEA can outshine their brethren in this regard. I think the PS2 games are a good idea as well. Wouldn’t mind revisiting the first couple of tomb raiders, not to mention Resident Evil 1 & 2.

  • @joe

also, if you can, I think we should include discounted games for each region as well, not just the freebies. Goldenratio has a valid point in that some of our sales can outshine the EU ones, so if we included those values as well, maybe in a separate chart, we can get more of a full idea of disparity per region.

  • @ goldenratio13

If they gave 40% Day 1 Digital discounts, I’d go insane with joy. But I’d agree with you here, if the discounts are large enough, and were given on digital copies of retail games, I’d just forget about the value being offered through extra rentals. Not sure if everyone would agree, but value is value.

I’d much rather own the game than have to give it up once the subscription ends.

  • @ DaGimp13

You’re quicker on the draw than I am, I was just about to say the same thing. I don’t want to waste my time doing this only for some forum poster to let me know that discounts are not being accounted for.

We may as well start including all of this, but I suggest splitting it to show the comparison with and without discounts. Considering that discounts and rentals are the only place where EU and NA differ, I think we’re covering all our bases here.

On another note, I don’t use this account on my PS3 due to immense paranoia. I’ll see if I can stop by a friend’s place later this week to message you on PSN and grab your email.

  • @ token_all_night

Thanks I’ll try to get a PS+ Subscription in march just to catch it.

  • Well, not a excellent or great month, but a good month, though, and with the PS4 anoucements, i’m guessing (don’t know why, however) that things will get better along the year for Plus. :)

  • keep this up and i will be able to save $50 a year soon

  • I have to agree with many of the people here. This is a terrible “free” game update. I am pretty sure I have a free version of this on my iPhone, PC, and on my old Android phone.

  • Really this is an outrage. So what you gave us a okay game last week, This game is only as good as your membership lasts. This is a total waste. I’m not getting plus cause of this bullcrap. I wonder what UK got.

Why doesn’t Plus give us Uncharted 3 it’s for pennies at my gamestore. I’m just about to buy it I thought it would come on plus but I guess not. This is a Fail Update I’d rather have Anonymous hack into Playstation and shut my service down for a week than this update.

  • Not only is it a Terrible Free Game cause most of us aren’t VITA Owners yet but the Discounts are Bulldung as well. Morgan Haro what is your thoughts on this?

  • Why can’t yall get the rights to Level5 and put out Dark Cloud 2 on PSN!!!! Instead you’ve uploaded every game but it seems. This is a classic 9/10 out of 10 kind of game it deserves way more Recognition than this. How many times do i have to beg yall to upload DARK CLOUD 2. wow just wow. Playstation really listens to it’s Community, sarcasm.

  • @blind_lunacy no problem yea and its not to bad after you take in the conversion rate from euro to the usd it will run you about 52.50 or so. so you only pay about 2.50 more for a eu membership then you do on a na membership

  • well it looks like it’s back to playing Motorstorm Apocalpyse for me. catch yall later. I gave you all my thoughts on this. I’m really dissapointed that I can’t get Dark Cloud 2 digital for my PS3 or Xenosaga. It’s pretty clear that Sony only cares about getting their Greedy Hands on our Money on the new games and abandoning all their Old games that don’t make enough doe. I see how it is Sony…Yall don’t have many selection of Hits from the last Decade, that is just plain terrible. the Older Games maybe not as flashy but what they do have isGameplay Elements that new Games are seriously lacking. Not to mention old games not as buggy, not rushed to make $

  • i just wish PSN would update so i can get PSASBR already i was hoping the sale would be effective at midnight and id be playing it with half the trophies already earned but im still waiting

side note i agree with The_Wheelman_IV Dark Cloud 1 or 2 would be sick on PSN but hopefully some day soon PS2 games will be more available especially for vita that would be amazing since my PS2 vanished and most PS3s cant play classic games id rather play the classics from PS2 or PS than some of the garbage people make trying to copy another game

  • Europe PS Plus is getting:
    Mass Effect 3
    Metal Gear Solid HD VITA
    Dead Or Alive 5
    Joe Danger 2
    Puddle
    blog eu playstation com/2013/02/22/playstation-plus-your-march-update/
Are you PS Plus defenders gonna say Plants VS Zombies is better than MGS HD?

This is crap, sorry you know its true.

  • since i bought MGS HD when i first got my vita yea ive only been a plus member for a month and i wish they would update games every month so no game sits there for more than 30 days but since i only paid 17.99 so far ive gotten my moneys worth from gravity rush alone and if i had a PS3 id be even happier there are plenty of people mad about EU being different than NA oh well there might come a time when we have all the bad @$$ games and they can get our recycled crap but until then go start a forum post to complain cuz its getting old business is business there is no room to make every single person happy so deal with it or don’t support the company i love sony they have helped me a few times so they do care about their customers but they have millions of people world wide to entertain and help so unless you have legitimate solution go complain to someone who cares and that goes for anybody and everybody

  • Wow! The amount of complaining is non stop with you guys. If you are so unhappy with your PS plus dollars and the occasional free games, then please get rid of PS+ and go buy a subscription to Xbox Live that only allows you to play online with friends and you get NO discounts on anything.

While I understand the frustrations of seeing the EU PS+ releases, and wishing we would get the same treatment, there is no reason to go completely off the deep end. You are STILL getting free games, and that is more than what can be said for Xbox or regular Playstation users. I would say that over the past year, we’ve received well over $400 worth in free games, yet you only spent $50 on a PS+ subscription. You are MORE than getting your money’s worth. Enjoy the free games that we are given, and be thankful that Sony and Playstation cares about it’s consumers enough to offer things like this.

  • In regards to the update, I have a Vita but I do not have near the amount of space required to purchase some of these games. Of course, the Vita uses a very specific card that has not been reproduced by a third party market and I really don’t feel like shelling out $80-$90 for a 32 GB memory card. I wish there were other ways around this because I would love to get a few of these discounted games.

  • Any chance we could get an Elder Scrolls game for free next month? or any open world game for that matter? I’d like sleeping dogs. Or maybe Uncharted 3? Just thoughts. Journey would be nice also.

  • Another lame update and game nobody wants thanks a lot! thinking about doing the Eu ps plus because the Us plus just isn’t cutting it anymore

  • to all of you whinnig about people complaining it is there right as a paying member to voice there discomforts with a service they are paying for if your happy be happy but not everyone is so shut up and leave people alone if you like the crap they are giving the shut and keep your crap you like not every one is like you and i for one have been a member for over a year and i have gotten my moneys worth from my membership but i have also noticed that the service i got when i first signed up to now is lacking and not as good as the same service in a different region so i have a vaild right to voice my toughts and you have no right to belittle any one elses

  • I’ve been wanting to try Plants vs. Zombies, but didn’t want to pay much for it. Great update for me! I might check out some of those sales, too. Thanks, guys!

  • I love plans vs zombies !!

  • @token_all_night

valid point but my point is take it to one spot where everyone can voice there opinion so its all collected in one spot , not scattered in comments and then you guys can figure something out till then your only complaining to yourself still with no solution

  • did you realize that people come hear hoping to maybe get feedback from morgan so he might address there concerns or discomforts with the current plus and get some of the answer they are looking for so they wont have to complain anymore and feel better about that 50 dollars they payed

  • @ JoeGoodsnake2

Heh heh… sorry pal. I didn’t run out of arguments. I simply realized you weren’t ever going to humble yourself and accept where you went wrong. So, it wasn’t worth the time or energy to keep trying. I logged off because I had other things to do. I can’t sit here all day. But you can tell yourself whatever makes you feel better.

A perfect example of your stubbornness… just look back at your debates with daGimp and goldenratio. Both of them have torn your argument to pieces over and over again but you just can’t bring yourself to accept defeat. I don’t know why it’s so hard for you.

And no, I’m not getting paid to post here. I work in an entirely different industry. Gaming is one of my hobbies and I’m fond of the PlayStation brand. That’s why I’m here. But I don’t know why YOU are here if you’re so disappointed with Sony. I usually don’t hang around places that I don’t like… it’s kinda strange…

  • @token_all_night, perhaps people would care more about what you say, and maybe take you seriously if you actually used proper grammar and punctuation. It’s funny how you tell us to shut up with voicing our opinion, but you can voice yours? I’ve been a PS+ member for going on 3 years now, and I would never complain about the service offered. Sure there are games out there that I would rather see pushed to us for a discount or even for free. However, I know that the service I am currently receiving is better than the alternatives out there. Don’t tell me to shut up and not voice my opinion, when you are doing the exact same thing. This is a public forum of communication. I have as much right to tell people to quit crying about petty things, just as you have the right to reply to me or ignore me.

  • Am I the only one that can’t download Plants vs. Zombies on my Vita? The ”buy” button isn’t working for me, and it doesen’t show up in the Instant Game Collection list either. I can download anything else just fine. Just wondering, I already own Plants vs. Zombies on my tablet anyways.

  • @549 goldenratio13 – Some high-minded concepts, sure, but the Matrix film sequels handled it in the more opaque way: the characters themselves discussed it. Particularly Reloaded was guilty of “philoso-babble”-“fight scene”-“philoso-babble”-“orgy”-“one actually natural character moment with hints of philso-babble”-“fight scene”-… You get my side. If the high concepts aren’t being narrated, there’s an over-stylized action sequence to get us to another lecture hall.

That, and they were just entirely too green. I know it was intentional, but it was overkill.

  • @HARTSTOPPER

I spent 5MP to upgrade your rant. You now have proper grammar.

Dear token_all_night, perhaps people would care more about what you say, and maybe take you seriously, if you actually used proper grammar and punctuation. It’s funny how you tell us to stop voicing our opinion, but you voice yours ad nauseam.

I’ve been a PS+ member for nearly 3 years now, and I would never complain about the service offered. Sure, there are games out there that I would rather see pushed to us for a discount or even for free. However, I know that the service I am currently receiving is better than the alternatives out there. Don’t tell me to shut up and not voice my opinion when you are doing the exact same thing. This is a public forum. I have as much of a right to tell people to quit crying about petty things as you have the right to reply to me or ignore me.

  • no i wasnt telling you not to voice your thoughts i was telling you shut up cuz you have no right to belittle any ones comment you tool you want to voice something then voice it in a polite manner treat others the way you want to be treated and from how your treating the others that are commenting you want to be treated in a manner that is rude and belittling and i adhor people like you and i dont need to use proper grammer to get my point across and i wont im not working on my book or my poetry so i dont care about grammer and people that have to insult someone else grammer are weak in my thoughts if thats the best you can come up with you have a concer then voice it in a polite and respectful way and i will treat you in the same manner

  • Um, 782, I wasn’t even getting on your case. I just rewrote HARTSTOPPER’s comment to show that he’s a long way from criticizing others’ grammar.

  • Nice update, thanks.

  • @782

No, I wasn’t telling you not to “voice your thoughts.” I was telling you shut up, because you have no right to belittle anyone’s comments, you tool! You want to voice something? Then voice it in a polite manner, and treat others the way you want to be treated. Although, from how you’re treating the others that are commenting, you must want to be treated in a manner that is rude and belittling. I abhor people like you, and I don’t need to use proper grammar to get my point across!

I’m not working on my book or my poetry, so i don’t care about grammar and people that have to insult someone else’s grammar are weak in my thoughts. You have a concern? Then voice it in a polite and respectful way — I will treat you in the same manner!

  • @greghove79 my comment in 782 was not to you it was to hartstopper i liked you 5mp comment it made me laugh and think of final fantasy at the same time lol

  • and i know my grammar was not correct i dont normally use grammar unless its in documents or when im doing my writings but thank you for editing my comment so it is easier to read and for being respectful

  • @PrimeroIncognito

I can’t believe you actually came back, and without addressing our debate even!

Let me clue you in to where we were. You stated that my attempts at objectively defining value was useless because subjectivity is something that will never disappear nor can it be argued against. By saying this, you demonstrate that you have no experience in actual debate, as without agreeing to the definition of terms prior to any debate, the debate will fall into an argument of semantics. When I tried to define objective value, I was defining it solely for the purpose of debate with the individual with whom I was arguing at that moment.

I don’t disagree with you, subjectivity cannot be argued against, just like you said. I only wonder why you think that while this is true, that you have a right to argue other people’s subjective opinions. Can you answer this please, before we continue?

I never accused you of working for anyone, so I’m not sure why you’re pre-emptive on defending yourself. As for why I show up here, I am a dissatisfied customer. Big mystery.

  • Still on Vanquish, Last Act… So this really doesn’t matter for me. PvZ vita, yeah I’d be upset if Vanquish didn’t quench my thirst via no vita. Hope to see a monthly update “if it’s possible”…

  • @ Joe

morning dude, I got looking at prices and currency conversions yesterday, and I noticed something regarding the UK/EU +…while Great Britian is technically part of the EU, and Sony operates EU+ in the UK, they’re charging in British Pounds, not European Union notes, meaning the £39.99 they charge for a years subscription in US/CAN dollars would be approximately $60.62 USD….thats actually $10 more a year they pay, so any EU prices you find, if they come from the UK Blog are really in british pounds….makes the regional price disparity arguement much more plausable

  • honestly, I almost made the same mistake others did in just converting the prices, from EU to US, but you have to look at the format of the currency to begin with….if you see a £ symbol, know its for british pounds, not EU tender.

  • Morgan, Every week I see other users comparing Europe PS+ to ours. Why are they different? Common sense would make you think that they should be the same.

  • @DaGimp13

Mornin’ peeps. I was actually going to chime in about exchange rates, but you beat me to it. When I got my EU account the exchange rate was 1.623, so I ended up paying roughly $68 for my membership, give or take a couple bucks. One thing to keep in mind is the price EU pays for retail titles. They pay a lot more than we do. For example, if you go to the EU store right now, you’ll see Dead Space 3 for $59.99. But wait a minute. That’s in British Pounds, not dollars. As of 10 am this morning, the exchange rate is 1.516. so basically if you live in UK and want this game, be prepared to fork over 90 bucks.

  • @DaGimp @joegoodsnake2

I think this little wrinkle could be problematic for you guys, because Sony is probably aware of the exchange rate problem, and it’s possible that this is a factor being considered when trying to equalize value among the regions. I don’t have any numbers to back this up, just an educated guess.

  • @ goldenratio13, daGimp13

Morning guys, so according to what you’ve been seeing, GB pays more but when they get games on discount or as a free rental, they are also saving more than the same game would save for an NA user.

It would be interesting to see how it plays out in the long run, as to whether it works out roughly to the same amount of savings after the higher subscription cost is accounted for. I’m still leaning towards probably not, but I’ll wait til the numbers are in.

gimp, I think we should actually do this backwards and go from February/March 2013 and go month by month back to the same month in 2012. Reason being that originally the offerings were pretty much the same, so the comparison won’t really show much.

And let’s do this in GBP, if the posts are in GBP. Unless of course, you don’t mind doing one extra conversion to EUR, but I don’t think it will be necessary.

  • @ golden@ goldenration, daGimp

I also think we should create a monthly and annual total for the value of the subscription cost/money saved ratio. I think this will be the fairest way to evaluate the difference, since their higher subscription cost should be accounted for.

Unless you guys have any objection to this.

  • That free dust pack made up for this plants on vita only thing, at least to me

  • It also looks like they stopped posting prices in the more recent updates:

  • @joegoodsnake2

if I’m not near my console, this is where I get my pricing:

    http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/video-game-store/

The only issue is that the store changes regions depending on your login. So if you don’t login with an EU account, it may not show you EU pricing.
