IGN’s Top 25 PSN Games of All Time

Holy crap, I’m posting on the PlayStation.Blog. I’ve been reading this thing for years and saying “Shut up, Jeff and Sid; I can write that better than you!” And here I am. I’ve made it. Beyond.

Anyway, IGN.com is this website I work for, and it’s the Internet’s No. 1 source for video game news, previews, reviews and videos. My Podcast Beyond cohost Colin Moriarty and I sat down not too long ago, and hashed out the 25 PSN games we’d recommend to folks with a PS3. Gameplay, graphics, story – it all factored in here. But there’s something different about this iteration of the list.

IGN’s Top 25 PSN Games of All Time

Namely: this is the last year we’re going to make it.

We’re not done covering PlayStation Network, we’re not saying nothing’s coming out this year – we’re saying that PSN games are so good that there’s no point in treating them differently. There’s no point in not letting them compete with the biggest boxed games. Journey was IGN’s 2012 Game of the Year; clearly, these titles are good enough to just be considered “PlayStation 3 games.” Plus, it goes the other way; PS3 games are available digitally now on PSN, so what’s the point in differentiating? Great games are great games.

So, this list is it. The best PSN games you can possibly buy. Did your favorites make the cut? Click on over, read the article, and leave an insightful comment. If you do, you’re entered to win a PSN voucher code that will get you all 25 games. That’s right: go comment on the IGN article and you have a chance at walking away with all 25 PSN games.

I am also told that leaving a comment on this here PlayStation.Blog post before 11:59pm Pacific Time tonight will enter you in a random drawing to score the same 25 PSN games. Not bad, right? The giveaway has ended and the winner has been contacted!

    BEYOND!

  • BEYOND! Can’t believe Greg Miller was on here. Where was I and what was I doing when he was responding to comments. Anyways I really want these games. I have Journey and The Walking Dead already, but didn’t really know about the other games except for The Unfinished Swan which I don’t know why I haven’t got around to playing that. Well hopefully I win so I can get a chance to play them all.

  • Man i hope to win those games :) Other then that good list of games completely agree

    Beyond!

  • am i too late ? :(

  • I’m kinda happy to see that I own the entire top 10. Actually, the first one I don’t own is #15, Hoard, though I think I may just change that now. The others I don’t have are Tetris, Rochard, Lumines Supernova and Tokyo Jungle.

Really, the only thing I would change would be to drop one of those last four (which I don’t plan to get any of) and add Outland on to the list somewhere. Housemarque is amazing and all of their games should have appeared on this list. But at least Flower made it up there, so thatgamecompany is well-represented. I think everyone expected Journey to be on there, if not win. It totally deserved it. What an amazing game. Nice list.

  • It’s very nice to see you here Greg. I hope both you and Colin become regulars. IMHO, having you guys around would be a very welcome addition. Glad to see that Bloodrayne Betrayal, one of my personal favorites (and a quite hard game) made it to the list. Can Outland take the runner-up prize and be number 26 on the list? *wink wink*

  • Greg on PS Blog? thats cool :)
    Great list Greg
    BEYOND!

  • That would be awesome to win wouldn’t be bored for quite some time.

  • I’m always a little intimidated by Greg’s skyward finger in his avatar. I’m hereby formally requesting that he pose using the “Clinton thumb”.

    Also nice list. :P

  • Greg, I loved the IGN coverage of the PS4 event. I’m counting on you & Colin to keep us excited in the months leading up to launch. BEYOND!! From Nova Scotia, Canada :-)

  • Greg I agree with you on every one of those titles, I own all but 2 and now have to shell out more to get those as well. I really enjoy your review style and the fact that you don’t take yourself too seriously. I especially loved the Costume Quest section. Reminded me of Adam Sessler (and that is a good thing, because I like him)

Also wanted to thank IGN for the really cool companion apps on IOS for DeadSpace and Skyrim…I am really enjoying the quick access to great content while playing.

  • Beyond!
Looks like I got some more games I should play.

  • Yay I love psn games!

  • Nice list!

Though I’m surprised to see Fat Princess didn’t make it. I remember Greg was (and probably still is) crazy about that game when it first came out!

  • Thank you for this list! I bought a PS3 about 2 years ago, and I can’t believe how many wonderful games I’ve been missing out on. I still have a lot of catching up to do, and this list helps a lot. Costume Quest here I come!
Mr. Greg if you read this I’d like to ask you a question: what’s your most anticipated PS3 game this year? Also, BEYOND!
