The Drop: Week of March 4th 2013 New Releases

Tomb Raider introduces players to the origin of one of the most identifiable video games icons of all-time, Lara Croft. The game features a blend of survival, stealth, melee and ranged combat, and exploration gameplay as a young Lara Croft is forced to push herself past her know limits to survive and unravel the dark history of a forgotten island. In the process she will unlock the adventurer within her. Additional game features include: weapons both familiar and new, upgradable items, a variety of play environments, and human and animal enemies.

MLB 13 The Show allows you to experience the MLB like never before. Its jaw-dropping realism doesn’t just capture every detail and mechanic of the sport; it captures the raw emotion of Major League Baseball. The Show delivers it with such realism, it’s like it really happened. Available for the PS3 and PS Vita.

Enjoy this week The Drop.

Tomb Raider — Tomb Raider delivers an intense and gritty story of the origins of Lara Croft and her ascent from frightened young woman to hardened survivor, armed with only raw instincts and the physical ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance. Superb physics-based gameplay is paired with a heart-pounding narrative in Lara’s most personal, character-defining adventure to date.

MLB 13 The Show (Blu-ray/GameCard) — Swing for the fences with MLB 13 The Show, the 2013 installment of the number-one selling Major League Baseball video game franchise. The game includes new features such as a completely new beginner mode, and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games.

As with last year, you can sync your Season, Franchise and Road to the Show saves between portable and console platforms to continue the action anywhere. MLB The Show also offers the opportunity to play with friends around the world at no extra cost on PlayStation Network.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk — Follows the story of Ayesha Altugle, a girl who has been living alone in a secluded workshop ever since her grandfather died and her younger sister went missing a few years ago. She supports herself by making and selling medicine. As the story begins, she finds out that her younger sister IS alive somewhere in the world. Now, she must devote herself to finding her younger sister. Her journey to keep her promise begins…

MLB 13 The Show (PS Vita) — Swing for the fences with MLB 13 The Show, the 2013 installment of the number-one selling Major League Baseball video game franchise. The PS Vita version of The Show features the same list of upgrades and new features as the PS3 version — exciting new developments such as a completely new beginner mode, and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games.

Bit.Trip Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien — Runner2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed and IGF award winning BIT.TRIP RUNNER. In the style of the BIT.TRIP series, Runner2 is a rhythm-music platforming game. Players will run through fantastic environments, using brand new moves, to brand new soundtracks as they run, jump, slide, kick, and soar toward the goal of tracking.

Fist of North Star 2 Ken’s Rage — Follow the storyline of the entire action manga epic in Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2. The destructive power of the techniques of Hokuto Shinken and Nanto Seiken meet the intense action of the Warriors series to produce a thrilling experience for fans of both series. In addition to the signature moves of the first title, new actions such as ‘sprint’ and ‘dodge’ have been added to the move sets.

Fuel Overdose — I-Friqiya started the development of Fuel Overdose with the ambition of offering a new kind of solo and multiplayer action racing experience, by bringing more variety to the combat gameplay as well as a tactical approach to the genre. They like to think of Fuel Overdose as a “Tactical-Action-Racing” game.

Germinator (Also on PS Vita) — Three of a kind won’t help you in Germinator, but you will need to crash your germ bubbles into those of the same color. Upon collision, they’ll combine and grow until they POP! Be sure to pop them quickly before they get too big and overrun the house. Timing and accuracy is the key to preventing the various germs from rising too high. Toss in PlayStation Move motion controller support and full 1080p visuals and you’ve got a messy good time!

Port Royale 3: Pirates & Merchants — In Port Royale 3, players will embark upon an epic adventure through the Caribbean during the turbulent 17th century where the naval powers of Spain, England, France and the Netherlands all fight for supremacy in the colonies. Players take on the role of a young captain trying to build his fortune and reputation in the new world colonies. The campaign consists of two different paths for the young protagonist to follow: adventurer and trader.

  • MP_is_for_Chumps

    OT

Tomb Raider – another singleplayer game with unwanted shoe-horned suckass multiplayer. I hope the game bombs horribly.

  • @5
but… ah i see judging by your name :/ regardless people have been giving TR good reviews

  • will there be any sort of bundle/deal for buying both the Vita/PS3 versions on PSN?

  • of MLB ’13 The Show I mean

  • The demo for Knytt Underground (PS Vita) came out last week. It’s in the Vita demo section right now.

  • Yeah I have the Tomb Raider Collectors Edition pre-ordered and playing it Tuesday ;)

  • Get Tomb Raider !!!

    it’s Awesome

  • @5 Keep On Trolling

  • kens rage 2 has been out.

  • MP_is_for_Chumps

    @ 6 ps_n_blog_ac

    yeah i know :(

Unfortunately modern mainstream gaming sites these days are too easily influenced with review embargo conditions and advertising revenue arrangements ect.

“Control the media and you control the people” – it’s always been the first rule of propaganda.

  • WHAT? NO SPYRO ON VITA?

  • WoundedUnderwear

Going get Tomb Raider !! I might also pick up Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk.

  • Maybe Terraria next week.

  • @14 Why do you care if people buy and enjoy the game if you don’t like it then don’t buy it and I am glad it has MP.

  • dragon_night swerved us all tonight. i always scroll directly to the comments section to see “WHAT? NO KINGDOM HEARTS?!”

  • No love for NarutoUNS3? thats is out this week too. Also i am too one of the people who hopes TR bombs.
Was very interested in that game until i saw the achievement list and it is ridiculous.

  • Does that mean Tomb Raider is digital this week? Can’t wait to play!

  • There doesn’t seem to be any confirmation here, is Tomb Raider going to be available on the PSN or is it only for retail currently?

  • XxDG3K_ALL_DAYxX

Awesome I will be picking up Tomb Raider along with Naruto ultimate ninja storm 3 =)

  • @14
well i do agree with you about that (To a certain extent) but most people just use reviews as a reference, not to completely make up their minds about it. For example i do research, watch gameplay videos, Like them on Facebook for updates, and etc. I do that before i make my purchases for any game and so far i’ve been making the right choices ;) TR looks great. Although many people didn’t like multiplayer that’s not going to stop me from enjoying SP or MP :)

    @ Death8u4u

They do have Tomb Raider under Playstation Network label with MLB 13 and Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk, so one would think its also for Digital Download. Then again I can be wrong. .D

  • @14 MP_is_for_Chumps

The Review Embargo argument only works when an Embargo is actually been put into place. The way the embargo works is put the reviews out after the game has released and the pre-order money already taken. Thus resulting in millions of gamers opening the game and forcing them to trade the title as used.

TR’s reviews have been out for well over a week. I’ve had plenty of time to cancel my pre-order and there isn’t a single person out there who hasn’t read that review that was interested in that game.

This new TR has earned its place in anyones library from what I can tell and I can’t wait for my copy to arrive. This series was way over due for a reboot and re-imagining.

  • @Dragon_knight…

    don’t start -_-…

  • Wounded, both sections are labeled as “Playstation Network”. They didn’t clarify which section is for disc release and which will be downloadable. I’d like some sort of confirmation on the matter as I’ll be driving up to Gamestop in a bit if I won’t be able to download the game off the store instead.

  • FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!! no kingdom hearts queer!! its a terrible game anyway. next thing you know they’ll be askng for call of duty: disney world tour lmao

  • @ dragon_night

    ha

  • WoundedUnderwear

    @ Death8u4u

I thought the first section of “Playstation Networks” label was PSN full retails game that will be DD. And the label below it was for PSP, Vita and PSN downloadable games.

I do understand that a good source of confirmation on Tomb Raider being a DD would have been better. Let hope Rey can confirm this soon.

  • spyro is on vita, tool.

  • WHAT?! NO CALL OF DUTY: DISNEY WORLD?!

  • in psone classic form lol

  • Wounded, usually they would actually have a game listed as (Also available on PSN) if it was releasing on disc with a downloadable version. They stopped doing that a couple of weeks ago, don’t get why. Usually the first section is dedicated to disc releases with the descending list being downloadable games and vita games.

I just rather not buy a game from retail if I can get it downloaded for cheaper.

  • downloads arent always cheaper, i got Dmc for $40 from gamestop and metalgear rising is only $40 at target right now with dead space 3 for $50. fortune favors the savvy shopper my friend lol

  • Got the TR collectors Edition. Poseable figurine , survival tin, and of course the wonderful Camilla Luddington. I like the figurine, so much better than statues and stuff. They need to get more creative with the special editions statues are played out. I liked the european Collectors edition of AC 3. The Assassins coin and stuff like that. the post pandemic last of us is a Joke at 160 bucks.

  • Downloads are always cheaper on day 1. Of course you can usually find a game elsewhere for cheaper after it has been out for some time, but I don’t plan on waiting for the game to drop in price elsewhere. I’d rather pay $7 less and get two copies of the game.

  • Will Tomb Raider be selling on the Playstation Store as a Digital version? Thanks

  • BigBossLegendary

Aww, sad to see no Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 :(

  • MLB the Show 13 PS 3 and Vita demos would be great.

    Def buying Tomb Raider

  • no argument on day one prices but some of these games are getting a little to big for me to download I.E. Sly Cooper at 16 gigs.

  • @38: If you know where to shop, pretty much ANY $49.99 or $59.99 game can be purchased as a physical copy for $13 cheaper on Day 1. The downside is having to wait an extra day or two for it to arrive. Games like Tomb Raider and MLB 13 are no exception to this.

  • Suggestions:

    1. Please make it very clear what is available on PSN and retail.

    2. Try harder to make “classics” worthy of the name. Hint Dora is not a classic.

    3. What can I do to get Yakuza 5 released in the USA?

    Thanks!

  • Peridot, you’re still stuck with a single copy however.

  • Whoever at Sony thinks that Dora is a Classic, should seek medical attention immediately, and should be transferred over to some non gaming department. What a joke.

  • Tomb Raider, finally! Looking forward to the PS+ announcements tomorrow as well.

  • @12
she is obviously trolling but to be fair the multiplayer in TR looks bad and worse there are more than a few trophies tied to it. I hate multiplayer trophies. looks like I will be boosting. single player sounds great though.

  • About Ken’s Rage 2:

When it came out last month, it was bundled with a costume pack for a limited time. The game will be re-released by itself on Tuesday with no bonus pack. That is probably why it was listed up there.

  • @48 I hear ya on the boosting. I need to get that done quickly, as soon as I’m proficient and comfortable with the controls and gameplay.
