Disgaea D2, Time and Eternity, The Guided Fate Paradox on PS3 This Year

Greetings, doods! I hope you have all been doing well! I wanted to drop in to talk real quick about all the awesome new titles that were just announced at our annual press event! We have three brand-new PlayStation 3 exclusive titles lined up for release later this year for North America and Europe, so let’s jump right in!

Time and Eternity on PS3

I want to kick things off with our big announcement from this year’s press event! Coming this summer, NIS America will be publishing Time and Eternity in North America and Europe! Time and Eternity was developed by IMAGEEPOCH Inc. and licensed by NAMCO BANDAI Games, and is a very exciting title for us, as it is a brand-new style of RPG using hand-drawn animation! Time and Eternity places you in a serene kingdom where everyone is ready to celebrate the imminent marriage of their princess to a valiant knight. However, when a group of assassins appears during the ceremony, the glorious day is brought to a screeching halt as the knight is mortally wounded in the ambush. As a last resort, the princess reveals her long-hidden secret—there is a second soul living within her, and together, they have the power to travel through time. But can they act quickly enough to reverse the course of history and find out why their wedding ceremony was crashed? All shall be revealed this summer, dood! This title will feature dual audio voicing and DLC, as well!

Disgaea D2 on PS3

Disgaea fans rejoice! Nippon Ichi Software Inc.’s Disgaea Dimension 2: A Brighter Darkness will be illuminating your lives this fall! This title is a direct sequel to the original Disgaea, starring the fan favorite characters Laharl, Etna, and Flonne! Story-wise, Laharl is back and has settled into his duties as a full-fledged Overlord. However, he isn’t getting the respect that he wants from the locals, so he sets off on a journey to get the respect he feels he is owed! Expect the same awesome Disgaea craziness, with new characters and old friends, and new demons ready to punchasize your face! Fans will definitely enjoy the new Master/Pupil system, where the player chooses the master and the pupil, as well as which skills to pass on! Benefits include new skills and higher weapon proficiencies for the pupil, while the master gets a stat boost for being a rad teacher! On top of that, character customization is back with a vengeance! It all will hit later this year for PS3 with dual audio voicing and a bunch of planned DLC!

The Guided Fate Paradox on PS3

The Guided Fate Paradox on PS3

Last but not least, we have another awesome PS3 exclusive title from Nippon Ichi Software, Inc. titled The Guided Fate Paradox! Some folks may remember that way back at the end of 2010, I came onto PS.Blog to talk about our rogue-like title Z.H.P.: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman for PSP. The Guided Fate Paradox is actually the spiritual successor to Z.H.P. – so rogue-like RPG fans across the world should rejoice!

The story for this title in particular is quite unique – imagine you are at the mall and you are forced to enter a raffle they are running inside… and you win! Congratulations, you winner, you! Your prize? You get to become God! Now that you are God, it’s your beeswax to go through the mysterious Fate Revolution Circuit and guide the fates of those who have prayed to God for help! You won’t be alone, though—you will also have a heavenly host of cute maid-angels and hot butler-angels to help.

“But wait,” you may shout shoutingly, “Ryan, go back to the rogue-like part!” Sure thing! This title takes the seemingly masochistic genre of rogue-like RPGs and makes it more approachable and fun for RPG greenhorns! Already a rogue-like veteran? Not to fret, as you’ll appreciate not only the awesome randomly generated dungeons, but also the insane combinations of items and gear you can use! Tank treads or a Prinny car for legs? Bat wings or robotic helmets? It’s all there, along with some over-the-top Disgaea-like special attacks. Also, look forward to customizing your character, equipping your angelic companions, and delving into dungeons so deep, you might end up on Hell’s doorstep! It’s coming this fall for PS3 with dual audio voicing!

That’s all for now, doods! We’ll be back in a few weeks to get everyone excited for the launch of Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory for PS3, which is set for later this month in North America and Europe! Thanks again for all your support, doods!

  • DesolatiionAngel

Its Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory going to be available on the PS Store?

    • Hello DesolatiionAngel,

At launch the game will be retail-only unfortunately. I’m not quite sure if we have a PSN version planned for later (like mk2), but hopefully this is something we can make happen in the future.

      Best,

      Ryan

  • Also, when is Disgaea 3 Vita going to be free for PS+? I’m looking forward to playing it again on my Vita.

  • Hope you make Disgaea D2 Collectors Edition similar to Disgaea 4. That was the coolest CE I ever bought.

And I’ll probably buy all 3 games, even if they don’t come to vita.

    • Hi vinardus,

That was definitely a really cool LE for Disgaea 4! I too hope we can make something like that for when the game hits this fall.

Thank you for all your support with our games! All three are looking pretty awesome ^^

      Best,

      Ryan

  • Hey Guys!! I love everything that NIS is doing, and am especially excited for D2!! Disgaea is what pulled me to NIS in the first place so thank you!

    • Hi Kazawa1234,

I’m so happy to hear that Disgaea was your first NISA title you played! This one is looking pretty awesome, especially with the classic trio of Laharl, Etna, and Flonne returning, dood!

I’m glad to hear that you’re excited for the game!

      All the best,

      Ryan

  • Gimme that Time and Eternity.

  • A new Disgaea game? *Girl shrieks*

Ryan, dood, you made my day. I love you and everyone at NIS.

  • Too bad there is no plan yet for Vita version. I like Tactical-RPG, and I love Disgaea, but I don’t have time to play them in the living room on the PS3 (hence I only played the 1st & 2nd on PSP and the 3rd on Vita but not the 4th).
Oh, god of handheld console (if not available at the moment, NIS America will do ^__^) , hear my prayers …

  • I clicked on the article just expecting to see more info about my definite next purchase Disgaea D2 and I am now very interested in Time and Eternity (that art is simply fantastic)Now I have two definite purchases.

    • Hi Darewind!

I’m stoked to hear you’re excited for Disgaea Dimension 2, dood! Time and Eternity is definitely a brand-new art style and approach for RPGs, so we’re definitely excited to publish that one for sure!

      Have a great night, dood!

      Ryan

  • Great news! I’ll be looking forward to all three releases.

Just checked out some Time and Eternity videos and wow, what a beautiful game. Cannot wait for it.

    Thanks NISA!

    • Hi Fate_Sxber,

Awesome, dood! The trailer for Time and Eternity should be up now at the top of this blog post, so make sure you check that out as well if you haven’t seen it yet!

      All the best,

      Ryan

  • I am now one of those nerds who love the dual audio option, after enjoying the native actors for Ni No Kuni, so your post for 3 games with this feature makes me very interested. Thanks!

    • Hi lisatsunami,

We do try our hardest to make sure we can include that for our games when possible – we know how much players love the ability to have the choice to switch between both ^^

      Thank you for posting!

      Ryan

  • Doooooood….

I never had the author of a blog post reply to my comment before! You made my day again Ryan! Thanks :D

    • Hi DeathKiller49!

      It’s my pleasure, dood ^^

We’ll be back in the future to give more details on Disgaea Dimension 2, so keep your eyes peeled!

      Have a great night!

      Ryan

  • I want all three. I hope they get great Limited Editions.

  • I am VERY excited for Time and Eternity.

Also, I am loving the Pirohiko love from you.

    Avatar brothers ;)

    • Hi JonJonXD,

I’m happy to hear you’re excited for Time and Eternity – we were so happy when we found out that we were going to publish it!

Unlosing Rangers for life, dood ^^

      All the best,

      Ryan

  • Thank you so much for keeping these on consoles, where I like to play my JRPG’s. I don’t do handheld gaming and it’s frustrating to see things like Persona 4 Golden only released for the Vita. Thank you for continuing to support the PS3 (I hope this continues, even into the life of the PS4). Also, let’s hope Time and Eternity is uncensored, unlike Mugen Souls.

    • Hi clupula668,

Thank you for posting today! I too hope we’ll continue to bring awesome JRPG titles over for years to come! There won’t be anything omitted for Time and Eternity, so no worries there, dood!

      Best,

      Ryan

  • Dang, they didn’t make them for ps vita. I’m kind of upset but I can hope from them to make them for ps vita.

  • Yes!!! Good to see a new Disgaea game coming out, dood! NIS has become one of my favorite publisher-developers thanks to all the great stuff they put out! D2 and Guided Fate Paradox are day-1 buys for me!

    • Hey corey2678,

Awesome, dood! I’m definitely happy to hear that you’re going to be picking up both Disgaea Dimension 2 and Guided Fate Paradox – awesomeness awaits ^^

      Have a stellar night, dood!

      Ryan

  • GameOverComesAll

This is nice, but I won’t be satisfied until Prinny 3 is announced for the Vita.

    • Hey GameOverComesAll,

Oh man, Prinny 3 would be awesome! I haven’t heard any news for another addition to the Prinny series yet, but we can hope ^^

      Thank you for posting!

      Ryan

  • Time and Eternity looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see it’s release =)

  • this news has made this fall a hard time to balance money >.< and i want a ps4 soo badly too

  • Great selection of games! Very happy the Disgaea series is going back to the fan favorites characters. The protagonist in the last to games have been pretty lackluster me. Well be nice to see Laharl and co back and badder that ever :D

    • Hey fatjoe400,

I’m definitely happy to see Laharl again as well! He looks awesome, along with Etna and Flonne of course ^^

      Thank you for posting!

      Ryan

  • Is Tokito… er “Time and Eternity” being improved on at all for western release? I imported the game, and found it pretty darn mediocre, so much so that I kinda question why you guys decided to bother with it at all.

Highly looking forward to the other two however. Especially Paradox, as Z. H. P was a God like game.

  • BTW; Love how you guys are including “Has dual audio” in all the descriptions. A little jab at Koei-Tecmo perhaps?

  • TOKI, TOWA, TOKI, TOWA, TOKI…………(Nosebleed)

  • Thank you so much NIS America for bringing these games stateside. I will continue showing my support of your anime and games (have the lunchbox edition of Hyperdimensional Neptuna V and Natsume Book of Friends season 3 preordered on your store, might get the Neptunia shirt). I am excited for all three.XD

I hope to see you and NIS America at Otakon again this year.

    • Hi ManaKnight!

Thank you so much for the kinds words and for supporting us, dood!

We don’t have any info yet on whether we’ll be at Otakon this year, but hopefully!

      Have a great night!

      Ryan

  • Guys, is it me, or could Disgaea 3:AoD be free for Plus members this week as well (on top of Spec Ops)? On the Games>PS Plus>New Arrivals section of the Web store, D3 is there but still lists $39.99. Everything else has been discounted as usual.

  • @74
When I do my unboxing video, I’ll be sure to make it look like Neptune made me lunch or something. :)

  • No Cursed Crusade 2 this year? lol

  • Any love for the Vita coming up?

There’s so many games coming out for the Vita right now in Japan, but all western publishers seem to have already given up on it. Please NISA, don’t let us down!

  • I”ll buy all of them, with or without Limited Edtions. Keep up the good work, NISA.

    • Hi gcrzero,

Thanks for the support, dood! We’re definitely excited for this year – tons of awesome JRPG love for sure!

      Thank you for posting!

      Ryan

  • Yay, cant wait for D2, as for Time and Eternity, I used to be excited for it, then I saw actual gameplay of it and that excitement went away, then again I haven’t actually played it so maybe the game is fun to play. I do hope a Demo does come out for it.
But D2 I plan to put a couple hundred hours into

  • Excited for D2 but Time & Eternity caught my attention a long time ago, this is great news.

  • NICE!!!

  • I’ve already pre-ordered Time & Eternity and will get The Guided Fate Paradox too. Gotta love JRPGS and NIS for doing a great localization always! :D

  • WHAT!? Asagi is not the main char this time ? I´m utterly shocked… lol

well I´m a huge fan from Nippon Ichi Software since the Marl Kingdom series (Rhapsody – A Musical Adventure)
I CANT WAIT FOR DISGAEA D2 ! ! We´ll have such a great Limited Edition like you did with Atelier Series and Disgaea 4 ?

No news about La Pucelle Tactics and Makai Kingdom for PSP/Vita ? NISA has licensed Black Rock Shooter , 2 years ago, and has postned up for a Vita release later, but I didnt see any news anymore.

Is there a chance for the 3 games of Marl Kingdom be released as a PSOne import or a localization?

Best regards, and keep this awesome job, NISA is so far the best publisher for JRPG Gamers

  • This news is a few weeks old, glad that it is being shared on here, but seriously this is pretty late for an announcement from almost 2 weeks ago.
Old news aside, I am so happy The God and Fate Revolution Paradox(The Guided Fate Paradox) is coming here. I was worried it might get ignored due to its low sales in Japan. Still not sure why its name was changed, even if it helps clarify the plot better.
And who wouldn’t be excited for a sequel to the greatest Disgaea? Sad they removed magicchange and added Item Sea to replace the Item world. But riding Raspberyl and Priere with the Prinnyback system will add new laughs and hopefully some amazing riding skills.

  • @84
Funny you say that, series producer for Disgaea has asked fans to vote around the world as to whether Asagi should have her own game. They said if they get enough votes they will consider it. You can vote at Siliconera.com.

  • @75
Disgaea 3 for Vita is free for Plus this month. If you read it, it says in no particular order. So sometime this month Disgaea 3 Vita will be free for USPS+.

  • NISA IS ONE OF THE BEST GAME PUBLISHERS IN THE WORLD.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUBLISHING THOSE AWESOME GAMES.

Thank you very much for publishing Time and Eternity. It is a unique and a very beautiful game.<3 T_T

The best thing about those 3 great games you announced is that they will have dual audio. Because almost all game companies don't get this, that gamers want BOTH the original Japanese audio and the English audio. Thank you very much for this. T_T

    – Please make Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory available on PlayStation Store as fast as you can like Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2, please. T_T

    I have some questions, please.

    1) Why Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory's US/EU cover is not the same as the Japanese cover? Because the Japanese cover is too AWESOME. T_T

    2) Can you please tell us about future plans for one of the best JRPG game series of all time, Hyperdimension Neptunia? Please continue and expand this game series, because it is so awesome. <3 T_T

    3) Can we expect a new Hyperdimension Neptunia game on PlayStation 4, since it is easier to develop games on PS4 than on PS3? :)

  • 4) Are there also plans to bring Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory and previous games to PlayStation Vita, please? We would like that, please? ^_^

    5) Would you please release new and awesome avatars, wallpapers, and themes for Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory on US/EU PlayStation Store, especially the EU PlayStation Store, please? ^_^

    6) In addition to that, would you PLEASE publish Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus on PlayStation Vita to US/EU, PLEASE? T_T
This is an awesome game, PLEASE bring it to US/EU for your fans NISA, PLEASE. <3 T_T
And please make it also available on PlayStation Store. <3 T_T

    7) Finally, can you please talk with the developers of Disgaea to make the trophies for future Disgaea games MUCH MORE EASY AND LESS TIME CONSUMING, please? Why does it have to take you a year or more to get all the trophies for Disgaea 3 and Disgaea 4? We play games to enjoy them and we don't mind some challenge, but not like this. This is torturing.

  • Please don’t get me wrong, Disgaea is a great game and I love it, but the trophies for Disgaea 3 and Disgaea 4 are just ridiculous.

I think some JRPG games require you less than 90 hours to get all the trophies (Final Fantasy and Persona 4) and they are MUCH EASIER, whereas Disgaea I think you have to play for more than a year to get a bronze trophy, which is so ridiculous.

Plus, I think it would be great for you if the trophies are a little easier, because some people buy games just to collect trophies. Even they play games they don’t even know just because they know they have easy trophies.

Thank you very much for publishing those great games, especially the unique and beautiful Time and Eternity. ^_^

And please continue the support for Hyperdimension Neptunia. ^_^

Also, PLEASE publish Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus on PlayStation Vite to US/EU, PLEASE. T_T

    Thank you very much.

  • Definitely eyeballin’ Time and Eternity.

  • *_* i need all of these! i love jrpgs <3

  • @88 NIS, IF, MAGES (.5pb), Tecmo Koei (owner of Gust) was on the list of dev making games for PS4, so NISA will most likely be releasing for PS4

  • I did NOT realize that The Guided Fate Paradox was the spiritual successor to ZHP!

    I need this!

  • I don’t have any experience with Tactical RPG, and the only JRPGs that I have played (that I can remember) are Final Fantasy XII, which I loved, and Final Fantasy XIII, and I don’t know anything about Disgaera other than some info I skimmed from it’s Wikipedia page.

Considering all that, would you think I would like these games? And is Disgaea: D2 a good place to enter in Disgaea universe (I prefer to start from the beginning of the series, but I only have PS3, so I don’t think I can play the original one). Should I wait and try one of these game when they come out or would you recommend me some other game for introduction to this genre?

  • aqeeliz

I would recommend you to buy Disgaea 4 as your first Disgaea game.
Like you mentioned you have only a Ps3 so you cant play Disgaea 1 unless you buy a Vita or a psp
and Disgaea D2 is a direct sequel to the first Disgaea
Disgaea 3 is also good but 4 has HD Sprites so you ll like it more trust me

If somebody from NIS is reading my comment
PLS bring Disgaea 4 and D2 also to Vita!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guided Fate would be amazing too as i enjoyed Z.H.P on my psp

  • @95: The original (and Disgaea 2) are both up as PS2 Classics. So give it a go.

  • @95
If you have a Vita, Disgaea 3 port is coming out for it this month on PS+. I mention this since you are a plus member. Otherwise Disgaea and Disgaea 2 are both $9.99 as PS2 classics.

  • Oh didnt know those are also as PS2 classics avaivable xD

  • @97, @98
Thanks, their wikipedia pages didn’t mention that they are available as PS2 Classic so I didn’t know, I guess from now on I should also check the PS Store.

Will get the original a go and see how I like it.

    @98
I was happy when I first saw Disgaea 3’s name in PS+ post, but then I read it’s for PS Vita (which I don’t have)… :(
