New on Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited

It’s an exciting week for the Music Unlimited service! We launched the service in our 18th country, Mexico, and are offering you a chance to win tickets to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival with the Music Unlimited Playlist Challenge. Find the entire download on the Sony Entertainment Network blog, but below is a quick update on this week’s artist highlights:

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix – People, Hell & Angels
After his death in 1970, Jimi Hendrix has been experienced almost as much as or more than during his lifetime thanks to an invested interest in gathering the recordings he was actively working on. While many of the posthumous releases include re-mastered or live versions of album tracks, People, Hell & Angels features 12 un-released tracks intended to be the follow up to Electric Ladyland. While we may never know exactly what his plans were, the tone of the album and the structure of the songs give insight to the creative direction Hendrix was headed and gives us an opportunity to celebrate his talent even 43 years after his death. Want more Jimi Hendrix? Check out our Artist Rewind: Jimi Hendrix Channel featuring songs across his entire catalog now!

Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan – Spring Break . . . Here To Party
Country party-boy Luke Bryan is back with the 5th installment of his Spring Break series, which he has launched during March every year since 2009. The tracks are pretty standard fare, including titles like “Buzzkill,” “If You Ain’t Here to Party,” “Sorority Girl” and “Cold Beer Drinker.” He may be in his 30’s with two kids, but this dad knows how to kick off a party right, with a country flare.

Recommended Track: “Shore Thing”

How to Destroy Angels

How to Destroy Angels_ – Welcome Oblivion
Trent Reznor, best known as the frontman for Nine Inch Nails, has never kept himself inside a box. The group’s massive success just propelled Reznor further, exploring collaborations with artists like Marilyn Manson and Queens of the Stone Age, as well as creating the critically acclaimed, GRAMMY and Oscar winning soundtrack to The Social Network. Reznor’s sound has become a benchmark for the digital age, exploring the sounds and scapes of electronic influence. Welcome Oblivion has a similar tone, although this time including female vocals from his wife, Mariqueen Maandig. Alongside creative collaborator Atticus Ross & art director Rob Sheridan, How to Destroy Angels gives NIN fans a familiar taste with a fresh perspective.

  • Hi. I would love for you to add back “Ride: Nowhere extended version back to music unlimited please. I downloaded the “B” side sounds off the ride album on my vita, but when i went to put it on my walkman or listen on my pc, the songs are gone, and last 20 seconds each. They are still on my vita, just not on unlimited. Anyone have any ideas?

    Ride (band) Nowhere extended (LP)
Also was on an EP which you don’t have under Ride : Today Forever

You now only have the nowhere MP3 album with fewer songs. why take down the extended edition. Please put it back up!!! It is 50 bucks on ebay for the cd. Thank you!

    Loyal sony fan.

  • Good Morning Sony, just wanted to ask if anyone knows if we can make a playlist based on a song. Maybe I may have missed this. On XBOX MUSIC, I just click on a song and can create a “smart dj” based on that song. Is anything like that possible on Music Unlimited? Also, any chance you guys working on a Windows Phone app???

  • I just wanna say THANK YOU SONY, for Music Unlimited is avalible in México, That app o service WORTH IT. Maybe is not equal to the MU USA (like sadly PSN USA is not equal PSN Mexico, at least in the psp games on Vita). But thank you so much.

  • Music Unlimited is the absolute best music app ever! The only thing that would make it perfect is if The Beatles were added…

  • I am *so* glad I am not paying US$9,99/month to this crap service! Besides music appearing and disappearing randomly, a search function that is almost useless, the cherry in the cake of a non working service is the android mobile app: it couldn’t connect to the servers for more than a month and, now, my playlists simple will stop playing, usually before the end of the first song. In a nutshell, useless… I’ve bought the one year access for US$10,00, but those where the worst US$10,00 I’ve ever spent on my life. I have 18K+ songs on Google Music. I am not paying a dime for Google. It works perfectly. Think about it…

  • GOOD FOR YOU.

  • Just wondering why there’s a 4000 song limit cap? Not that I have that many songs but I read about a guy buying a 32gb PSVita memory card which holds up to 9000 songs but it stopped at 4000. bummer.

  • Can you PLEASE fix the issue on PSP where it is unable to connect to the Sony Music Unlimited servers?! I have been locked out of it for over a month. I have tried restarting the PSP, restoring defaults, you name it. It always starts up, says it activating/authenticating and then simply says it can’t connect to the server and closes out. It works fine on the PS3 for me, but not working on PSP is giving me a headache.

  • Jeff,
I am having issues since the newest update and I use this service everyday. I can’t live without my MU so please do you know anything? It was stuttering before the update a little but now it stays silent even if I leave it for an hour. It will be playing and then just silence. Can you direct me on who to speak to?
