The Drop: Week of April 1st 2013 New Releases

Join a futuristic online open-world shooter where thousands of players scour a transformed Earth competing for alien technology. Create a unique character and level up with diverse customization options. Hunt alone or with others as you improve your skills and unlock powerful modern and alien weapons that will help you survive the massive battles that await in this constantly evolving online world.

Immerse yourself in the world of Defiance as the game impacts, and is impacted by, the Defiance TV series on this week’s The Drop.

(Also on PSN) — The visionary open-world shooter MMOG Defiance serves as a companion to the tandem television show on Syfy. In an entertainment first, the game and show will influence and depend on each other, and even feature some players’ characters on the TV shows as extras.

Set on a future Earth, Defiance introduces players and viewers to a world where humans and aliens live together on a planet transformed by decades of conflict. The game combines the intense action of a ‘AAA’ console shooter, with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart weaves the rich tapestry of the world into a series with the scope, characters, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic. Because they exist in a single universe, the show and the game will influence each other and evolve together over time, with actions in both mediums driving the overall story of Defiance.

Ion Assault HD — In 2183 humanity discovers an energy source that facilitates travel into new regions of space. Gigantic mother ships collect the newly discovered fuel from the distant energy fields and transport it to Earth. When the fleet is destroyed in an alien attack, the player sets out on a perilous journey home in a small harvester.

In Ion Assault, instead of conventional weapons, players use the free energy particles that are abundant in space to fend off swarms of aliens. The particles are bundled and the player is able to shoot them at asteroids and enemy ships. The particles are not destroyed in this process, but are redistributed in space, ready to be magnetically attracted again and re-used. Their random distribution makes for dynamic gameplay and calls for a more strategic approach.

2477_gtalcs_Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories — There are a million stories in Liberty City. This one changes everything. Once a trusted wise guy in the Leone crime family, Toni Cipriani was forced into hiding after killing a made man. Now he’s back and it’s time for things to be put right. Forced to fight for his life in an odyssey that will shake Liberty City to its foundations, Toni must use any means necessary to secure his place in the leadership of the Leone family in a town up for grabs.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories — Vice City features more expansive locations, and over 120 vehicles ripe for the picking such as exotic cars, motorcycles, luxury yachts and planes. The soundtrack boasts three times the tunes compared to the previous GTA, and features countless ’80s hits. Over 40 different weapons ensure effective firepower and provide enough variety for stylish defensive measures (samurai sword anyone?).

  • They probably are working on the Download list filtering (finally) and are looking to announce it with this month’s Plus update. If that’s the kind of store issues they are working on, might have to be in relation to the download list or a higher cap for cloud saves. *shrugs*

  • @ 199

how can you be proud of being immature by not resubbing to plus because of technical issues? No matter how good a service is, technical problems will arise. I think they could update to the blog with the PSN being down, but I’m not gonna argue, they have a legitimate reason for not updating like they’re supposed to. If you’re dissatisfied with the service, that’s one thing, but to just unsubscribe because a blog update isn’t on time, that’s just sad.

  • @Primeroincognito

The state holiday for Cesar Chavez day was yesterday. There is no Monday holiday following Cesar Chavez day if it falls on a weekend, therefore they should be at work today. At least that’s the way it was when I was living in San Francisco.

    @ goldenratio13

Some of our state offices are closed today, dude. I already checked.

  • I know im not supposed to post on this topic but WHERE IS THE PLAYSTATION PLUS UPDATE??!!

  • PrimeroIncognito

I don’t think SCEA is closed though. I was only suggesting it was a possibility, until someone else posted that Morgan is tweeting about holding back the Plus update until the problems with the store are fixed. That tells me he’s on the clock.

I went and looked on the PlayStation forums, and sure enough, Morgan posted about it. But I still don’t see the correlation between the broken store and a post on the blog which only lists what will be available this month, starting tomorrow…

  • Why is it that EU knows what they are getting for PS+ a week before the new month while we know ours at the last possible day or two? :/

  • @Primeroincognito

It’s cool man, I’m not saying you’re wrong. If you still live in Cali then you definitely know better than me and I gladly defer to you. I haven’t lived in California since 2001, so my information could be out of date.

  • @Primerincognito

My bad, I didn’t see your post at #206

  • I need to buy alot of miak..It would be cool to be able to download Defiance at midnight since I got this awesome game preodered on PS store.

If Sleeping Dogs is the free game i’m going to be stoked i bought it last week..lol that game is awesome(people will love it)..I’m all good over here. What ever we get, I know it will be good..LLP

    @ goldenratio13

    I’m not mad, dude… heh…

And actually, my suggestion was wrong. It turned out that SCEA is not observing Cesar Chavez Day today, even though some of our state offices are. So it turns out I was wrong to even suggest it. My bad.

But yes, I still live in SoCal, probably always will. Born and raised. Spent a few depressing years up in NorCal… eh… it’s not a bad place or anything like that, just a different lifestyle and it didn’t fit me. Returned to my homeland as soon as I could. There’s no place like home, brother…

  • @207 WORD!!! They get the red carpet treatment, better games and advanced knowledge of games to come. What’s the deal with that Sony?? I’d honestly like that answered so I can know why it is America holds the short stick every month..why can’t we get equal treatment when we hand you the same amount of funds for the service?!? Very questionable………

  • EU was given sleeping dogs we get no games of that magnitude SMH it’s a shame

  • So, no PSplus update today?

  • XxDG3K_ALL_DAYxX

Wow I guess no post till tomorrow..Can’t help but wonder was their a problem or was this part of April fools..if it was part of April fools it’s not really funny …no humor in it

  • Oh, there are some technical problems. Ok, I understand that. I thought it was some kind of April’s Fools jok or something.

  • You can always tell who the kids are here. Getting angry over a late update? How sad if you are older than 12 and getting all worked up about it.

  • Cesar Chavez Day is a legal Holiday in CA today. However, like most recent additions to the Holiday calendar, it is mainly observed by government offices. Pretty much all businesses in CA completely ignore it, much like they ignore Columbus Day, Lincoln’s Birthday, and Veteran’s Day – unless that is they are retailer who uses it as a reason to have a sale. I feel certain that Sony was not closed today.

  • Well I’m pretty excited about finding out what new games we will get(even though I still need to try The Cave, got sidetracked by the new Bioshock).

  • I’m glad these technical issues happened today & not tomorrow, for I could only imagine how much worst the community would get D:

No, issues where I’m at fortunately. I’m guessing we’ll be getting the monthly layout post around the same time they had that late store update during the PS4 event.

Kudos to those that commented some possible info. as to why this is being delayed.

  • Where is Burnout 3 and Revenge for PS2 Classics???

  • Bioshock Infinite and Walking dead are tied for best games I have played this gen.

  • Hey guys, the issues have been fixed apparently: http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network-Support/RESOLVED-4-1-PSN-Log-In-Issues/m-p/40036015#M31389 , so maybe we’ll get an update in an hour or two.

  • I’m amazed with the number of Rockstar’s classic franchise games over the past several months. Kudos!

  • Like wtf is going on?whats this stupid crap haro is spewing about the store problems and blah blah blah..Its got nothing to do with our plus update.Im so sick of the slow store and the slow updates.Get your s@#t together sony team.I dont understand how 8 times out of 10 they are late with things.I dont like to compare with Europe but I think they need to take some lessons from their team.

  • nice update looking for DEFIANCE look like a good game 100 player coop looks awesome keep up the good updete Happy Easter to all [PSN] staff

  • I’m super excited for the Injustice Demo!

  • its kinda bs that nothing is coming out for vita. not even stupid cell phone game

  • Whats even worse, the next street dated vita game is 4/30. Then the one after is 6/25. Were already in another vita game dry spell. ::fingers crossed:: for more stealth release games :(
Not hating, just disappointed. Because I love my vita so much.

  • The Defiance beta was was pretty good despite being an older build of the game, I went ahead and pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of the game so I don’t have to buy the season pass later on.

  • the NA store get the short end of the stick compared to the EU store the one that gets pure garbage deals is the Asia store…i have an account for all 3 stores and asia ps+ sux badly and i feel for them….but i think we all should get the same thing….the complaining about EU getting better stuff seems like its making it better for them…only good game NA as gotten is the spec ops:the line and thats the only game i have downloaded from PS+ for the past 4 months…doubt they will do any better for us

  • C’mon people. I normally don’t comment but after reading comments from others, week after week after week……its become very evident that us gamers want to see kingdom hearts 1 and 2 put on playstation store so we can finally pack up our ps2 and get it outta the way.

  • I’m definitely looking forward to the Terraria demo. I’ve been wondering about the game for a long time, but I was never willing to take the jump without a demo, which I haven’t seen on Steam at all. I need another loot-fest couch co-op game, and this might just fit the bill.

  • definitely will check out the injustice demo

  • @231 I can understand how a lot of people would want certain games released… I, for one, really don’t care if a KH game gets released for PSN, my most wanted are Vandal Hearts II and Dragon Warrior VII… But oh we’ll… I get that everyone wants something different.

I also get that there are some that think any given week’s sales are junk… and they show there complaining here, while some others enjoy the same week’s sales and doesn’t post here.

  • Is anyone else having the Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge online pass and costume pack code problem too?

  • Why isn’t the Injustice demo yet available in the European PlayStation store? (I’m from Portugal)
