Tyga – Hotel California

Tyga – Hotel California

At just 18, Tyga burst on the scene as the latest Young Money prodigy. After moving from Decaydance Records to fully Young Money, his previous dance music roots made a progression to more straightforward rap. Fans got a taste of his direction in his Well Done 3 mixtape, but the songs for Hotel California were written in a quick and uniform matter, making it a stand-alone piece. The album features blockbuster guest appearances, including Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, 2 Chains, Wiz Khalifa and more.

Brad Paisley – Wheelhouse

Brad Paisley – Wheelhouse

Fans usually don’t have to wait long for new music from Brad Paisley, who has been churning out hits in mostly two-year ticks since 1999. He is a constant presence in the country music scene, one of the more recognizable faces (and big white hats) of the genre. The guitar remains the hero in his tracks, but Paisley tackles some heavier lyrical issues, sending him out of the Wheelhouse he’s named this record to be. While he has some familiar voices on guest vocals like Dierks Bentley and Hunter Hayes, he also welcomes LL Cool J and Matt Kearney for a different twist on a familiar artist.

Jake Bugg – Jake Bugg

Jake Bugg – Jake Bugg

If you’ve been in front of a TV at all the last few weeks, you’ve probably heard Jake Bugg’s catchy and wholly appropriate “Lightning Bolt” in a new Gatorade commercial (you see what they did there?) fueling the fire of an already hot new artist. While maybe not intentionally trying to sound like Bob Dylan, this young songwriter has a very old sounding soul, using repetitive guitar strokes and quick, punchy lyrics on top of catchy melodies. He’s making all the right rounds this summer, performing at SXSW, Coachella and Lollapalooza, respectively, a trajectory that is sure to amplify the buzz in a big way.
