The Drop: Week of April 22nd 2013 New Releases

On PSN and PS3 Blu-ray, Dead Island Riptide brings back the franchise’s explosive mix of open-world gameplay, co-op first-person action and Action RPG elements to fans worldwide. Also included is an eclectic mix of hero characters, each with with their own backstory.

Also on PSN and PS3 Blu-ray, the award-winning Star Trek game casts players for the first time ever as Kirk and Spock in a totally original co-op experience worthy of gamers and fans. Set in the new canon of director and producer J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, players will be immersed in the game’s rich story and action-packed combat.

Dead Island Riptide

(Also on PS3 Blu-ray) — The survivors of Banoi thought they had escaped the terrors of the tropical island and survived the apocalypse on a corrupted paradise. Then their fate took a turn for the worse. Shortly after the battle-hardened team had landed their helicopter on a military ship, a furious storm hits and havoc quickly spreads on board. Suddenly they find themselves struggling for their lives again with all hope drowning in the rising waves.

With invigorating new elements infused into a proven mix, Dead Island Riptide reanimates the zombie terror for a second battle for life against the dead. A monsoon has hit the once beautiful archipelago and heavy rainstorms have laid waste to large areas of the islands. The city of Henderson and jungle areas on the island of Palanai were flooded leaving boats as the only remaining way of transportation.

Thomas Was Alone (PS3/PS Vita Cross-Buy) — Thomas Was Alone is a platformer where the goal is simple – get all the characters to their exit portals. You’ll find that becomes increasingly harder than it sounds. Use their skills in tandem, be it flotation, anti-gravity, bounciness or, well, jumping slightly higher. Along the way, you’ll hear an awesome story narrated by Danny Wallace (Assassin’s Creed) and scored by the epically talented David Housden. On PS Vita, you can use the touchscreens to select characters, or to control the camera.

Star Trek: The Game

(Also on PS3 Blu-ray) — This action-packed Star Trek game is based in the continuity set up in the 2009 reboot of Gene Roddenberry’s classic series by J. J. Abrams. The Star Trek video game offers a sweeping journey of epic proportions across unexplored planets and enemy battleships with the latest 23rd century weapons and gear. It boasts a story filled with action-packed combat as Kirk and Spock work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy. And for the first time ever, players are cast as Captain James T. Kirk and Spock in an unprecedented co-op experience, where the complementary personalities of these iconic characters push players to make strategic use of their alliance.

Draw Slasher (PS Vita/PSN Exclusive) — A long time ago, but not so far away, Pirate Monkey Zombies – stupid, smelly, ugly, rotten and disgusting creatures – invaded a peaceful village. They kidnapped Hanzo’s – a rather short ninja’s – family. Take control of his awesome blade and aid him in the quest to free them.

God Mode (Demo Available) — God Mode is set in a twisted version of Greek mythology and the afterlife. The player is a descendant of an ancient God whose family has been banished by Hades from Mt. Olympus and turned into a mere mortal. To avoid an afterlife of eternal damnnation, the player must battle through this purgatory known as the Maze of Hades against an army of the underworld.

Soul Calibur V — SoulCalibur V picks up 17 years after the events of SoulCalibur IV with new heroes and returning warriors clashing in an epic showdown between good and evil. The tale of Patroklos, son of Sophitia Alexandra, unfolds as his family’s destiny intertwines with the Soul swords.

Black Rock Shooter: The Game (PSP/PSN Exclusive) — Earth has been ruthlessly assaulted by extraterrestrials, and nineteen years of nonstop battle now threaten the very existence of humanity. The last hope for human survival is BRS, a heroine created solely to save planet Earth; she is the ultimate battle android. But when she is awakened to end the battle once and for all, there are only twelve human beings left on Earth… Black Rock Shooter: The Game is based on the cutting edge music OAV anime from Ordet and Good Smile Company.

Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII — In this game, you are the leader of Operation Wildcard, an undercover and elite squad of pilots secretly created by the American government. Your mission is to sabotage and destroy the Third Reich’s evil plans to create a weapon of mass destruction. During this mission you and your team discover that the bad guys also have an elite team of their own. In an attempt to disarm the enemy, you engage in dramatic and movie-like spy missions in some of the world’s most exotic locations using experimental weapons and flying never-before-seen prototype aircraft.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core: Plus R (PS Vita) — Arc System Works’ high-resolution fighter now comes to the Playstation Network. In Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, all of your favorite characters have returned with more moves and an alternate EX version of each. With the extended “Plus” version, you can dish out even more mind-numbing, insane combos with 25 crazy combatants.

In Accent Core Plus, discover the back story to all the fighters in the Guilty Gear mythos, including fan favorites Kliff Undersn and Justice. The Force Break, Throw Escape and Slash Back systems added in Accent Core give all the fighters a wide variety of defensive and offensive capabilities.
