Enjoy this week The Drop!

The-Last-of-Us-Box-ArtThe Last of Us

(Available June 14th, 2013) — The Last of Us is a third-person Survival-Action game that utilizes choices in gameplay action to develop the game storyline, as well as the relationship between the two main characters, Joel and Ellie. The game features a combination of combat, exploration, stealth and platforming game mechanics. Although Joel and Ellie are both residents of a post-apocalyptic world, they have had different experiences that affect the way they see the world around them, and feel about what they see and do. Joel had a life before the pandemic, while the world of the pandemic is all that Ellie has ever known.

As part of Joel’s job to smuggle Ellie out of the quarantine zone, players have to make choices in how they deal with enemies, which include, roving gangs of human scavengers not unlike themselves, military elements and infected civilians. Player also have opportunity to together interact with elements of the world around them, which helps to build the bond between Joel and Ellie. Resources in the game are scarce, making overwhelming use of firepower unlikely and unwise in conflicts, and resource gathering missions. In addition, most other residents of the ruined world that are encountered are just trying to survive – blurring the line between good guys and bad guys. Finally, game AI react differently depending on the specifics of the player’s actions, making choice in gameplay a major consideration.

Flying Hamster HD (For PS Vita) — Take control of Newton, the flying hamster in this action-frenzy horizontal shooter. You will fly across six unique environments, from the sunflower fields to the big Japanese city or the crazy ancient Egypt. Eight freaky weapons are scattered among the levels, and you’ll need them all to take on the more than 35 different enemies (sneaky penguins, anti-air cows, exploding foxes, ninja squirrels, toaster-robots…) as well as the six dreadful and unpredictable bosses.

4e6700b3_Final-Fantasy-XIII-2-Serah-Character-ArtworkAliens: Colonial Marines — In Aliens: Colonial Marines, players are part of a United States Colonial Marine squad and must prepare to face an Aliens assault more intense and horrific than ever before. Players must destroy the enemy with classic Aliens weaponry ranging from pulse rifles to flamethrowers as well as brand-new equipment.

Aliens: Colonial Marines features a story driven single-player mode and a four player co-op mode allowing players to share the chilling experience with three friends. In co-op mode, each player assumes the persona of a United States Colonial Marine and have a distinct role to play in the completion of every mission.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 — A wish to protect the world. A promise to challenge destiny. After thirteen days of fates intertwined, the battle begins…

Set several years after Lightning and the others saved Cocoon, some survivors have decided to start over by rebuilding on Gran Pulse. Lightning, however, is nowhere to be found and thought dead by many, but Serah believes otherwise. When her town is suddenly overrun by monsters, a mysterious man named Noel appears to save her. Together, the two set off to find Lightning…

  • Hatsune Miku! Hell yeah!

  • Is it true that Last of Us download on PStore will be 25gb?

If so it would’ve been cool to be able to do a pre-download on thursday since even with my 8mb internet it probalby take 6hours to download for me. Oh well just let PS3 download over midnight and play it around noon ;)

  • nothing in the drop interests me. Glad for the 4 free ps plus games though. hope Saints Row 3 is tuesday instead of Machinarium.

  • gearhead32 you are a Sony Pony and a super troll. You have stalked and harassed me across the internet and insulted me every chance you get. That makes you the troll here.

You just cannot accept that modern games on PS3 just are not nearly as good as PS2 and PS. Those systems have much better game libraries than the InteractiveMovieStation / ShooterStation / PewpewStation / PAAGGstation (PlayAsAGunGameStation).

Sorry but I have been gaming since SMB on NES, so I know what video games are supposed to be like, and they’re not supposed to be like crappy generic casual interactive movies with diarrhea QTEs in them. I play video games to play video games. Nintendo and turn based JRPGs are my favorite style of games and since PS3 has no proper turn based JRPGs, then I have little reason to be a Sony gamer anymore. So sad when both the PS2 and PS were so great, and the PS3 is butt.

  • CONTRA SHATTERED SOLDIER!!! Hell yeah!

  • Will the E3 press conference be available for download on tuesday?

  • Last of us preordered already and Im definitely picking up Contra as a ps2 classic. Thats the kind of ps2 classics I’m looking for, keep those coming sony. The Vita could be a really good ps2 game player just saying.

  • I really wished the last of us was releasing this Tuesday instead of Friday kinda strange to me to release on a Friday. We will see so far the game is looking really good hopefully I can beat the game in 3 days than start on the Multiplayer.

  • Project Diva F demo, woot!

  • @neuropunk ..what a fitting name lol. Sorry, but just because you don’t like The Last of Us, doesn’t mean that others don’t. Get a clue, not all games are made for you. I like games that are INTERACTIVE as well, but who the F said that Last of Us ISN’T interactive? Who said it is full of QTE? Even if it has a few, I’LL be playing the GAME for the AMAZING STORY + CHARACTERS + ENVIRONMENTS. You NEED to have some NON interactive moments in games if you want to do some things… it doesn’t mean that the game isn’t a great game. Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, Bioshock, METAL GEAR SOLID… ALL these games have scripted MOMENTS (MGS having the most, lol)… doesn’t mean they’re still not amazing GAMES as WELL ;) Deal with it, or go back in your NES cave.

  • If sony announces all ps2 games on PSN are now playable on Vita as of monday, the whole of E3 will go bonkers.

  • There are SOME games (COD for a perfect example) where the cutscenes + scripted moments take AWAY from the game or are ALL the game has to offer (COD is mostly just setpiece after setpiece, with no flow to the story or care for the characters), but don’t blame every game just because of setpieces and quick time events. It depends on HOW the quick time events are used… or if they are overused, or used as the only way to interact. There is obviously more to The Last of Us than that. Read some reviews ;)

Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, Bioshock, METAL GEAR SOLID… ALL these games have scripted MOMENTS (MGS having the most, lol)… doesn’t mean they’re still not amazing GAMES as WELL ;)

    crap, crap, crap, crap, crap

Oh and I was stating that I HATE interactive movies. I never said that The Last of Us is not interactive, I called it an interactive movie.

I play video games to play video games, so I wish they would keep movies out of my freaking video games. But yeah, I should go back to Nintendo because they have and always will have the best and most fun games. The Last of Us looks boring as hell. I’d rather watch grass grow.

  • everyone’s getting the last of us <3 such a masterpiece i beat the game lucky for me i got an early copy & it's sooooo AMAZING naughty dog always develop the best games

  • @54 I came on here to read about the drop as always on Sunday and saw your post .I had to respond too such a ridiculous rambling post that you had and yes you are a nintendrone. You are still using that stupid PAAGG term I see I think you need some serious help.

  • Actually, the term PAAGG is funny and makes as much sense as “First Person” Shooter, especially since FPS are not in first person, since it’s from chest and not eye level. So, I see that you are still butthurt that I make fun of your generic dudebro shooter crap.

Oh, I see, if I dislike crappy interactive movies that makes me a Nintendrone? So, exclusives like Tales of Graces F, and Dark Souls and not much else, still means I am a Nintendrone?

Let me guess, you hate Nintendo and think they make kiddy games? Well, that would make you a pony, a Sony Pony. At least Nintendo doesn’t rely on all your military dudebro PAAGGs. Nintendo still make video games, so Sony should take note. Sony does not even have any characters that can compete with Mario, Link and Samus. No mascot worthy characters for Sony.

Let me guess, you like PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale – LMFAO!

Oh and sorry you like sucky games, btw.

  • @66 I don’t own Playstation All Stars Battle Royale so guess again.I like lots of different games not just shooter games like Remember Me for instance which I am enjoying. You calling games that many people enjoy “Interactive movie crap” just makes me laugh. I don’t hate Nintendo I just have no interest in the system.

  • More PSone classics. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on PSN!!

  • PS2 classics playable on the Vita!!

  • @66 LOL Sony doesnt need a gimmicky “mascot” Nintendo has been nothing but a gimmick system since the 64..further more “hardcore gamers” prefer strong hardware for powerful games such as future elder scrolls games that the wii u won’t be able to handle.. Enjoy you’re outdated system and keep your fanboyizm muted (not a Sony fanboy just a realist)

  • @66 So I take it you hate games with guns in them which means you hate the entire metal gear legacy which means you don’t know what true gaming is. If you did then you would have come to love metal gear solid as the metal gear series started on the NES. I guess you hated valkyria chronicles and eternal sonata to.

You may think that the ps3 is a shooting console but I think its still a good console for jrpgs and fighters.
Also I hate to say it but your own argument could be used against you because it pains me to see what Nintendo has become which is a shell of its former self relying only on 20 plus year old franchises to save them. Especially with copy paste brothers and new copy paste brothers 1 and 2 and the much more inventive copy paste bros u so plz leave.

  • @66 also stop using the word pony its insulting to bronies (don’t judge)

  • The Last of US….f*** yeah! :D

  • I cant not wait for the last of us I already Preorder the game and the season pass

Still cant believe ive been waiting for this game since VGA 2011

  • @66

    Tales of Graces F isn’t a PlayStation exclusive, it’s a port of an already-existing Wii game. /nitpick

While I, too, long for traditional RPGs, I have come to the realization that most publishers have long since abandoned them. Embrace the indies, say I, for they are our only hope.

*waits patiently for Tales of Xillia, South Park: The Stick of Truth and Tales of Symphonia HD*

  • “@66 LOL Sony doesnt need a gimmicky “mascot” Nintendo has been nothing but a gimmick system since the 64..further more “hardcore gamers” prefer strong hardware for powerful games such as future elder scrolls games that the wii u won’t be able to handle.. Nintendo games, outdated? Also, strong tech does not make for better games. For example, Yoshi’s Island pwns the crap out of any game on PS3. So do SMB3, SMRPG, SM64, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Donkey Kong Country, etc. and those are 15+ year old games that pwn the crap out of your PlayStation games. I will take superb gaming over power. Sorry tho, you techtroll.

@71, yes the MGS series sucks because it’s so weird and the games have clunky gameplay and so many freaking cutscenes with bad story.

Also, I hate the NSMB series, yes those are rehashes. Everything else that Nintendo does is newer and fresher than anything on Sony tho.

  • OH, also forgot to comment on this:

“@66 LOL Sony doesnt need a gimmicky “mascot”

Sony does not need one or Sony do not have any characters that are worthy of mascot material?

(I would bet on the latter)

    “@66

Well yeah, but only in Japan. Graces was never on NA Wii U. And yes, the Tales game is currently the best JRPG series in current ongoing existence. Anyhow, I do not care for indie games because most of them end up sucking. Maybe it is because they’re low budget, or maybe because most of them are untalented western developers. Western video game developers – EWWWWWW GROSS!

  • Last Of Us…..enough said….already fully paid now i just have to wait till Friday. This week is going to be a good one.

  • @53

Saints Row will probably be the end of the month. Tuesday is Uncharted 3, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and LittleBigPlanet Karting.

  • @50: Licensing issues. Won’t happen.

If SE, a company who loves re-re-re-re-releasing everything they do in any way possible isn’t releasing them on PSN, it’s because there are licensing issues.

  • @79

I’d imagine we’d get at least one game on top of the three year long games, if not they’d have to spread the remaining four games this month out over the last two weeks. I share 53’s want for the Saints Row this week, I owned it for Xbox 360 when it first released and absolutely loved it, I’d been looking to pick it up for PS3 right before they announced it for the IGC so I’d love to have the game again, the sooner the better. ;p

  • @neuropunk: Don’t play the shooters then. Sony doesn’t make just shooters. If you are seriously suggesting that, then you are a fanboy. No matter what you say. Flower is a shooter? Journey? Tokyo Jungle? Sly 4? LittleBigPlanet? Gravity Rush? Demon’s Souls (sure SCEA/SCEE didn’t localize it, but SCEJ and Japan Studio funded it and helped develop it)? Tearaway? Knack? Jak & Daxter? Ape Escape? Parappa the Rapper? etc.

Plenty of memorable and wonderful PlayStation properties that aren’t shooters. Just because something sells better than they do, doesn’t mean they aren’t great in their own right.

I love me some JRPGs, and consoles in general are lacking in quality JRPGs. And I do wish Sony would create more first and second party JRPGs. However, that doesn’t mean that they only make shooters.

So stop saying falsities, or just leave.

  • I think it would be best to not respond to that neuropunk guy.

One of those “games should be this way” type of people.

Ugh, what rubbish. Video games are just entertainment. If there is a game you don’t like, there is no need to criticize those who do like the game.

An even worse thing to do is try and classify yourself as being better or something, just for liking old-school games more than current gen.

It’s a very boring argument, that only stubborn people partake in…

Quite frankly, I think it’s pretty clear that he’s just trying to make people angry, based off his comments, so as I said, just ignore him.

  • CRASH BANDICOOT AND SPYRO FOR PS VITA!

  • PrimeroIncognito

    @ Elvick_

You didn’t say “shoo”. What happened?

    @neuropunk

Dudebro, you know I love your passion, but dude, I gotta ask, bro, why do you keep coming back here if you hate it so much dude? C’mon bro. Let it go already, dude. You’re taking Sony’s business decisions to personally, bro. If you love Nintendo so much bro, then dude, spend your time with Nintendo and enjoy your life. Dude. Pew.

  • PrimeroIncognito

    @neuropunk

By the way, bro, you say you love the classics, well bro, have you tried out the Capcom Arcade Collection yet, dude? There’s tons of classic gaming goodness all up in that piece, homey. I’ve really been enjoying it, broseph. It’s totally killer.

  • @18 The Vita won’t be left in the dark ;)

Anyways, THE LAST OF US!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everybody and their grandmother needs to buy this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Support our boys in the game industry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @neuropunk I see you moved over here since being banned from gfaqs…as for everyone else don’t listen to this person…they bash anything popular just for attention

  • am i the only one that cares about the jak trilogy releasing this month on vita? theres not even an actual release date and there hasnt been a single update on it. did i miss something? is it next year or do i just have to be a bit more patient?

  • @88 – What, I’m banned from GameFaqs? Anyhow, even if I were, the troll moderators over there are worse than every troll on the internet combined, especially RaptorLC who needs to be fired from GameFaqs.

@82 Flower is a shooter? (boring crap) Journey? (boring walking floating desert sim) Tokyo Jungle? (looks horrible) Sly 4? (nah) LittleBigPlanet? (horrid floaty crap, mario is much better) Gravity Rush? (no idea) Demon’s Souls (sure SCEA/SCEE didn’t localize it, but SCEJ and Japan Studio funded it and helped develop it)? (one of the best games of all time) Tearaway? (no idea) Knack? (looks flippin’ terrible) Jak & Daxter? (never liked) Ape Escape? (dunno) Parappa the Rapper? (Parappa is dead) etc.

Also, you didn’t name any turn based JRPGs, you know, the games that made me a PlayStation gamer in the first place. Don’t blame me. Blame Sony for losing me as a customer since they refuse to keep me since they abandoned their turn based JRPG fanbase.

I’ve been called a “Nintendrone” but I am pro Nintendo since Sony dropped all the good kinds of games I love. Don’t blame me, and don’t call me a Nintendrone. Sony did this.

  • Yawn…why do you need to stir things up everywhere? Just play games and stop whining about everything like a child.

  • ^ If you don’t want me to stir things up, then bring back my favorite types of games. Bring back turn based JRPGs.

Bring back proper Final Fantasy (don’t you see how crappy the modern versions are?)
Bring back proper Resident Evil (don’t you see how crappy the modern versions are?)
Bring back proper Splinter Cell (don’t you see how crappy the modern versions are?)
Bring back Tomb Raider (don’t you see how crappy the modern version is?)

Bring them back to how they used to be. Bring them back to WHY people liked those things in the first place. When you change the things that people liked about something, you often end up losing those fans.

So, many things I loved have been ruined and you expect me to be happy? What should I do about it? Start actively protesting and camping out in front of game development studios? How can I start a grass roots movement to boycott the video game industry?

I want to see a video game crash so that the broken industry can be reborn and games can go back to being great.

  • But…I’m not in charge of games…nobody here is…the people who post here are fans and the mods are just PR guys who work for Sony. If you really think that YOU specifically whining about this will make a difference you’re wrong. Go write a letter or start a petition. Fact is game developers are here to MAKE MONEY. Not to please your every whim.

  • Metal Gear Rising Armor DLC where?!?!?!

  • If game developers want to make money, then why do they change their video game series so that they lose their fans and lose sales? It’s not about pleasing my every whim, but instead about pleasing the millions of people who share my same opinion. See, when I speak, I not only speak for myself but the millions of others who feel the same way I do.

Games like DmC and Final Fantasy XIII are jokes to the industry and gamers do not like them. Why change things when you lose sales? Not sure why you are so happy with video game series being ruined.

  • So you say the gaming industry is flawed and not making as much money because they aren’t catering to what you want? You do realize gaming is making more money than ever right? And series like DMC and ff might be floundering but series like cod and gta are going strong…it’s just a change of whats popular.

  • Game developers know where the money’s at. If they thought they could make more from turn based RPG’S don’t you think all of them would go in that direction? It’s pretty plain to see, not everyone feels the passion as you (Neuropunk) do. The Last Of Us is one of those games that will be talked about for years to come, and will set the bar even higher for future developers. You’re on the wrong thread here, thinking that your opinions and passion will change anything. You should be talking to the developers themselves and hear what they have to say. Just my opinion.

  • Final Fantasy XIII-2 as digital full PS3 game but not FF XIII? What?

  • @97 – if game developers were not stupid then they would not make chunky junk like DmC, FFXIII and FFXIII-2 (which bombed in sales), RE6 which did not meet expectations, etc.

Oh and I’ll betcha that The Last of Us will not sell nearly as much as you think it will sell. Uncharted series only did 6 mill, despite all the praise. Also, this is a new IP. I hope this interactive movie flops to death. These interactive movies need to fail so that real video games can be made once again.

The reason why there are no turn based JRPGs anymore is that they were first exclusive on the 360, but people did not buy a Japanese game on an American dudebrofratjocktestosteronepewpewshooterBox console, so Japanese devs thought that nobody likes TB JRPGs anymore since the steroid dudebros didn’t buy Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, etc. How would Japanese developers know if they sell anymore, if they refuse to make them? How are they able to judge the sales of those types of games if they are not available to buy?

  • OMG! Contra use to be one of my favorite games growing up.I know a lot of the younger Genre might not know what it is and if you don’t buy it! I will defiantly be getting it.
