Wait so I’m confused do you have to pay monthly for the ps4 or is that just play station plus? And I don’t care what happens somy is the best company!!!! keep up the great work Sony.
2-tone shell is a big winner in my book. The parallelogram shape is very unique and doesn’t look like my cable box unlike some other console. The light the flashes in between the 2-tone slit is just genius!
Hardware rating and over all appearance: 11/10. Hands down, mine and yours.
I’m buying one, that’s for sure, but if you want me to pay to play online, keep dreaming.
Great to know that Sony is still supporting the pre-owned market and is in direct opposition to the draconian DRM that Microsoft will be peddling. My only gripe is that (assuming I heard correctly) players will need to have Playstation Plus to access online multiplayer for the PS4. The fact that I did not need to have any sort of annual subscription to access online play was a huge selling point for me when I first purchased the PS3. That being said, I do have Playstation Plus and I absolutely love the service, so I don’t intend to drop it any time soon. However, I know several people who do not currently have the service and, for many of these individuals, it’s the free online multiplayer offered by PSN that ultimately led them to choose the PS3 over the Xbox 360. If the new features (video sharing, cloud services, cross-game chat, etc.) are the driving factors for this decision to make Playstation Plus a requirement for online play, perhaps a lesser service, more akin to the current PSN setup, could be offered for free. In any case, the relatively meager cost of $399 will more than likely make the idea of purchasing Playstation Plus more palatable to most consumers.

If anyone knows… If I have PS+ and download PS3 games on a PS4, would they work? Or do PS3 games have to be streamed for them to be played on PS4?

Yea, yea, yea, Plus is required for online, you get DriveClub free day 1, that pays for your subscription right there everyone. Plus, its $100 cheaper than the competitor, which requires money to play online as well, so, money in your pocket from day one. I really wish the whole conference was a minute long.

One of, if not the most epic E3 conference I’ve ever seen. The only thing that would have completely made it demolish everything on a historical level is at The Last Guardian. Nonetheless, this conference was full of epic wins.
Sony has officially won next-gen hands down.

The moment I saw the PS4 design, I thought “Hey it’s the PS2!”.
Which is absolutely fine. I loved my PS2. Plus at that $399 price point, I’m pre-ordering for sure. The one downside for some of friends is that if they want to play online multiplayer, they now have to jump onto the Playstation Plus boat. Ohh well, there had to be a give and take I suppose.

looks real good cant wait to get my hands on one. but my biggest concern is with all this social stuff and more on talking to people and watching movies why is there still no SUBTITLES on the system yet. i cant watch no movies or shows i couldnt even enjoy e3 cause i am deaf so all i could get out of it was the game trailers so plz bring in the SUBS

Hey, to everyone trippin’ about having to pay for Plus in order to get online multi-player… just think about this –
You’re not just paying for online multi-player, but also all the other benefits that Plus offers, which I’m sure will be enhanced even more once the PS4 launches. It’s definitely worth the asking price.
AND… the PS4 is already less expensive than many of us were expecting. So, if you have to pay an extra $50, so what? Right? $450 ain’t bad at all for this beauty.
What if Sony had announced that online multi-player was free to all, and that the console was going to cost $449 at launch? Would you have complained? Probably not. You’d probably still be ecstatic. Same thing, right?

Yeah that’s what I see too. HDMI only it appears. I’m not effected by this but if you & any others are… it’s time to shop for a new tv.
Pay the $50/year folks. I’ve already payed more than that now for what you guys are getting FREE with the cost of Plus… Deus Ex, Little Big Planet Karting etc.
I was skeptical at first about the value PS+ gives you.. Then BAM! 10 free full games in 1 month last year!
I’ve payed MS $60/year for 6 years and have received 0 free games from them.
LOL @ people crying over paid multiplayer when some of you are already Plus members. Not to mention that Plus pays for itself with the free stuff they give.
My biggest concern with the PS4 is that it will not play my PS3 content (all digital and probably more than $30,000). I am fully aware I could keep my PS3 but I would like just one console in my entertainment rack so it will be no sale right off the bat for me although hopefully Sony can convince to buy it in the long run because I do really like Sony a lot. Thanks Jack and Sony for an amazing E3 as usual. Long Live Play.

Just wanna say, you had an almost flawless victory. But the pay for online doesnt sink in for me.
I was rejoicing at your PS4 announcements, and even was gonna get PS+ to support SONY in the path they took with PS4.
But now that youre forcing PS+ on us if we wanna enjoy our games fully, Im not supporting this practice.
You know why? Cause MS started this, and that path led to the joke of a system at this E3, thinking they could charge for everything.
Im not against you charging for premium services, like uploading videos, party chat, additional content like skins or whatever.
But PAYING FOR BASIC ONLINE PLAY ? NOPE

Glad Sony kicked Microsofts butt tonight. Even if you do have to pay for ps plus on ps4 it’s still a better deal than xbox live as they offer free games etc. you guys who were whining about cross game chat and better online service now have to pay for it. I’m a proud ps plus subscriber and will get a ps4 hands down!
