Cardboard Castle Makes the Cut on PlayStation Mobile

Cardboard Castle on PS Mobile

Hi there PlayStation Community. This week, we’re launching Cardboard Castle on PlayStation Mobile. This is our first game on the platform, and we wanted to give the community something that was fun, entertaining and creative. The premise of the game is to use real-world items like scissors, water and fire to help the hero of the story on his adventure through a land of cardboard.

As we were designing the game and discussing the idea of having “real” elements in the game, someone on our team suggested cardboard with the idea that it could be cut, get wet or burned. So the idea of a puzzle/adventure fantasy world based on cardboard was born.

We wanted to create a story that was totally based on cardboard and paper only. In the beginning the design of the game was really bland, so we added a cartoony feel to it in order to get that balance of real world and cartoon that we were looking for. We also wanted people to feel like they were progressing in the game by using real world items such as scissors and a glass of water.

As you play through the game, you will see where we added fun and humor. The main hero sometimes sometimes chooses to take gold coins instead of getting something easier to save the princess. We were inspired by movies such as Shrek and The Princess Bride when it came to designing the characters in the game.

In this PlayStation Mobile version, you’ll get two exclusive stories, with a new main character and over 10 new levels. The two stories are based on the adventures of a peasant trying to become a knight, to gain the favor of the princess that he is in love with. There are many fun and exciting things that happen to the peasant on this journey.

We are really excited for you to play this game and to experience the passion, humor and creativity that we put into it. The extra levels that we have added into the PlayStation Mobile version, allowed us to continue the story and allow you to continue to have fun.

PS Vita owners can download Cardboard Castle from the PlayStation Mobile section of PlayStation Store for $1.99; Owners of PlayStation-certified devices such as the Sony Xperia Z smartphone or Wikipad can obtain it through the PlayStation Mobile Store for the same price.

  • Oh this just looks delightful. Great pricing too, just might be the first Mobile game I pick up.

  • @1 Never. ALL PS Mobile games has to run on Android smartphones too, and you know how easily those are hacked.

  • beautiful and what ever…

WHAT HAPPEN WITH THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE VITA AT THE E3???

  • @6 Dude, chill out. Just wait for the store update. Not like it’s gonna kill you a few hours late.

  • Love the art style; looks great!

  • @3 thats unfortunate. I can’t see myself being motivated to play these indie mobile games without trophies to entice me.

  • I really like the look.. Definitely giving this a download later today.

  • Looks great, guys. Will get it tonight.

  • Yeah and you can play it, if you have one of the 7 phones PSM works on haha. lame

  • I love the art style but I was hoping this was more of a beat’em up type game.

  • @6: You’re entitlement is astounding. What is your life like where you don’t have to wait for anything like the rest of us? I’m sure someone from Sony noticed that Dark_Xepher_25 was upset and immediately updated the store for you.

  • looks like a “light” adventure game, which is right up my alley. My husband and I are enjoying Jacob Jones’ first episode, and we also loved Quiet Please!, so this looks right up our alley.

DOes it use the sticks/buttons in addition to touch?

  • I hope they talk about Playstation mobile and say when the trophies and leaderboard are coming out during the E3 convention. The trophies and leaderboard would help playstation mobile to sell more playstation mobile games.

  • PS4 still has time to implement retrocompatibility with PS3 games, PS2 games and PSX digital games and decline Plus being mandatory to play online maintaining online playing free for everyone. If they don’t, I will give the thumbs down to PS4, use my PS Plus account to “buy” free PS4 games and only buy it after it has dropped it’s price dramatically or they add compatibility with PS3 in any way they want to. I encourage everyone that bought over 190 digital PS3 games supporting this company to do the same. RESPECT TO MY PS3 GAMES COLLECTION!

  • @6: He never said it would be at E3. People just made that assumption. Nice try.

@17: Wat. Please tell me where it says that your PS3 games will work forever on all future hardware released until the end of time. You bought a PS3 game, and you got a PS3 game.

    Shoo.

  • This definitely piqued my interest – looking forward to the release, hopefully at a wallet-friendly price point!

  • Just watched the trailer on YouTube. Looks intriguing! At that impulse price I’ll pick it up and enjoy! Thanks for publishing to PS Mobile and making it available to us Vita fans!

  • Looks interesting, for that price you can’t go wrong.

  • Why can’t there be access to your psn on pc’s as well, and I mean like gaming and chat wise.
