The Drop: Week of July 1st 2013 New Releases

On PSN and for PS3 comes, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War brings to life the intensity and drama of a war-torn Medieval Europe featuring a rich tapestry of legendary characters including Joan of Arc and Prince Edward, the Black Prince.

Also on PSN for PS Vita, Velocity Ultra is a remake of the original PS Minis game and features trophies, online high scores and a completely overhauled visual style at native PS Vita resolution. Enjoy this week The Drop!

Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War — Utilizing a next-generation game engine, the game’s armies collide on the battlefield at an unprecedented scale. Countless numbers of men consumed with ferocious intensity converge on screen, where tactics and cunning combine with valor and might to determine who is left standing at the end of the day. The game puts players in the role of a rogue commander and gives them direct control of mercenary units in fierce clashes with English and French forces. You must adjust strategies as skirmishes evolve, and then deploy the unit best-suited to handle the challenge. Game progression is wholly dependent on a player’s decisions and accomplishments on the battlefield.

  • Where on earth is LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey? EBGames(dot)ca and Amazon(dot)ca say it’s out already.

Why isn’t it on the PS Store? I wouldn’t buy it there, but still.

  • Please Sony make the crash and spyro games playable on the ps vita and buzz lightyear game downloadable on playstation network in the United States to play it on ps3 psp and ps vita.

we need games that actually show off the tech of the Vita & sure old jrpg ports & psp games are cute but the Vita is a technological beast. Why make games you can play on NDS i thought Vita was supposed to be different & distinguish itself instead they’re looking at the sales & copying the DS. Show how much better it is than the DS & make GoW for vita & BLOW PEOPLE’S MINDS just like you did with Chains of Olympus. Even the upcoming Arkham Origins Blackgate will be a 2D sidescroller because it has to be dumbed down so it’s easy to port from the DS. The Vita could support a fully fleshed out Arkham game the likes of A. Asylum & once i heard we’re getting the same low grade scroller the DS is getting my excitement waned considerably, the only saving grace is KZ Mercinary which uses the same engine as KZ3 but inexplicably they added the same horrible non campaign(mission based)single player ripped straight from dreadful CoD & Unit13 . Devs, just because it’s a handheld we don’t need a dumbed down story or gameplay made for 5 -10 minute intervals, I bought the Vita because i wanted ps3 quality on the go & don’t get me wrong i love Vita but instead of trying to compete you should be trying to dominate.

  • To Sony, be willing to lose $ at first and pay devs hefty prices to bring top AAA titles developed by the actual team not some small timers fumbling around with someone elses beloved IP & bring titles that’l lure casual fans in. Devs don’t want to dev for Vita because they have no reason to want to, they just won’t sell enough this early in its life cycle so do what you’re doing with the ps4 and lose $ now to make $ later, Vita needs to build its fanbase & in the future you won’t have to pay to get AAA games. I mean damn hire me to help build a conquering business model as i know the Vita will win out with the right strategy.

  • people crying for bf3 stop idk anyone who wants that game but doesn’t have it yet. EU gets better AAA games because there a smaller market and developers try to get them to buy their next installment in a series by giving them the older titles free. There’s no need to do that here in the US because we buy more games. Also I may be in the minority on this one but I cant be the only one who buys all the big name titles and only uses plus to get the titles I may have skipped over because they weren’t as popular sure many of those titles were skipped over for a reason but I have found many games I now love that I would have never tried if not for plus.

  • Wow, hard to believe so many people think Europe gets such a great deal – it costs a great deal more for games and 9/10 times they’re way behind the US releases (Murumasa being the latest example). Grass is always greener etc etc…

There’s not much here for me this week, though I might give Velocity a shot.

  • where is the ps+ update?!?!?!

  • Dear Sony I would love to see the 2 Champions of Norrath games on PSN. Those were AWESOME!!!!

  • BLADESTORM ROCKS!!!!!!!! I lve that game

  • @104: The fact you keep referring to the 3DS as the DS, just proves how much weight your argument holds. A huuuuuuge ZERO.

@106 (LSMJGO) I’ve wanted B3 but never pulled the trigger as I was waiting for the price to drop which it has. It isn’t a title I HAD to have that is why I did not buy it but I have always been curious to play it. So now you know someone that wanted it but doesn’t already have it (YAY!). Maybe I’m in the minority or just not as privileged as you but I’m an adult who supports themselves and I can’t drop 60$ plus dlc for every game that looks interesting. So as a result some titles I must wait on a yr or 2 until the price is more reasonable (it also lessens the sting of buyers remorse)if I only wanted 1 game a month I could shell out 60$ but I require far more than that not to mention I own ps3, Vita, & a 360 so supporting all the new games i’d like for 3 systems is financially unfeasible. If I was still at mummy and daddy’s maybe I’d already own B3 & maybe mummy would bring me “hotpockets” while I play. When I get that job with Sony I’ll be able to buy Bioshock Infinate,Remember ME,The last of Us,Blood Dragon,Skyrim,Soul Sacrifice,Need for speed (vita),Injustice,METRO LAST LIGHT,Dark Arisen,GoW Ascension, the show ’14 all on launch day. You take Farming sim& foosball i’ll take B3 & Deus Ex.

  • Velocity Ultra looks great with all the new additions to the game, the Mini was fun so the complete version of the game will be even much better!!!!!!!!

  • How about for a PS2 drop you do Ace Combat 5 : The Unsung War. That is one game I would love to play here on the PS3.

@111 are you kidding me? I simply did it to save space honeybun. I kinda had to cut things down to make it fit the 1250 char. limit. If you are intelligent enough to notice I also abbreviated alot and never did I use the word “and” I used the “&” symbol as well I took out spaces after punctuation marks all in the idea of making it fit. I uhh own a Wii also so i’m pretty well versed in the gaming realm. Do you even own a Vita sweetheart? Also, there was and is a Nintendo “DS” not just a “3DS” and there is a DS lite, DSi, DSiXL, a “3DS”, and the latest edition the 3DSXL. So um yeah I kinda knew that beb. Also, I was kinda encompassing the entire “DS” brand even though I know the 3DS is the most popular and the 3DSXL is the latest. Give me some compelling reasons why my argument was so bad, did God of War Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta not help sell the PSP? Monster Hunter for that matter too. Maybe you don’t like AAA games or God of War but they sell systems. Games sell systems more than anything really I mean look at how overpowered the Vita is compared to the “3DS” but it’s the games

  • sweet warriors orochi i hope they add the second one too so we can play the trilogy all on the PlayStation 3.

  • my360broke_again

Bladestorm is awesome, if you are more into strategy games with RPG mechanics than beat ’em ups (which it looks like it is because it’s done by Koei, but it’s definitely not hack & slash like the Warriors series games are, it’s more about commanding the right units at the right time by roaming the battlefield and taking over towns and castles with various units you can switch your command to, it’s actually closer in mechanics to Pikmin mixed with an MMO than Dynasty Warriors). I love historical wargames and I’ve never seen another game like it, playing a mercenary working both sides of the 100 Year War.

  • For anyone looking to buy gift cards to PSN stores that aren’t their home region I have had a lot of luck with cardscodes.com. They sell just about every denomination for all the PSN stores worldwide. Once you pay they email you the code almost instantly and their surcharges are not bad at all.

  • Thank you for Bladestorm. Thanks even more for Warriors Orochi. Your description of the serpent king Orochi is exaggerated and factually twisted, if I remember that villain correctly. No offense intended. But I don’t recall Orochi being an actual demon. The warriors called him “the demon lord” but that was just referencing the fact that he’s all evil. But it’s been awhile and I was younger then, so it’s possible I could be mistaken and maybe I never knew the truth about Orochi to begin with. (Not that it matters, that fake is evil, and the important thing is the warriors oppose and defeat him.)

Not to be discontent, but any chance we’ll get Warriors Orochi 2 as well? Oh and I agree with comment #25: Samurai Warriors 2 would be really nice.

I wish they would port Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank onto the PS2 Classics.
Oh well, I’m probably in the minority anyway. :(
