Champions! Our latest 1.09 update is available now, including the much anticipated new 1v1 mode – Bout of Honor! You can view the full change list at the official site.
Since the dawn of our multiplayer, warriors have cried out to the Gods asking for @SonySantaMonica to create a mode where Champions can pit their skills against each other without distraction. I am here to tell you, combatants, the time has finally come!
In Bout of Honor, two warriors will put their lives and reputations on the line to win the best of seven rounds in this strictly 1v1 mode. Bout of Honor is a true contest of skill with no chests, fountains, or world weapons to aid you. This mode also disables relics and allows for a Champion’s magic to regenerate over time. Beware, my brothers in arms, magic generates slowly over time so use it sparingly. If you are careless you may end up like the Prophet Castor, with your head underneath another warrior’s boot.
Along with this brand new mode come four new maps specifically crafted for Bout of Honor:
- Canyons of Kirra
- Chamber of the Flame
- Landing at Delos
- Streets of Sparta
The developers at Sony Santa Monica have been painstakingly crafting a mode for both fans of fighting games and the legions of Champions playing Ascension’s multiplayer to enjoy. The team has made some balancing tweaks especially for Bout of Honor to ensure matches are fought in a fair and honorable fashion. Infinites have been removed, overpowered weapons tweaked, and damage from 100% combos adjusted.
Lastly, warriors who are not quite ready to rely solely on the strength of their blade but still wish to acquire the Favor of the Gods will enjoy a brand new 4-player map – The Whirlpool of Alecto. A nod to one of the greatest moments in God of War: Ascension’s single player campaign, The Whirlpool of Alecto features a giant leviathan whose sole purpose is to unleash Alecto’s fury in the form of physical pain onto any unsuspecting warrior careless enough to venture into its domain. The level also features elevated terrain sections for knocking over, slamming, and stunning your opponents.
The best part is that these features are all free, right now! Praise be to the Gods for hearing our cries! The team at Sony Santa Monica would like to give a special thanks to the thousands of Champions worldwide supporting the team by playing God of War: Ascension multiplayer.

Yeah I think that’s cool and all but what about some support for Playstation All-Star Battle Royale? We’ve been here for months with nothing new . Also #ReleaseDart.
This is all great content for GOWA. but the fact of the matter is that you promised that you would support allstars, now i hear Dart was scrapped as dlc this isn’t fair towards the psallstars fanbase. GOWA keeps getting updates while all stars is left in the dust. fans are begging you from day to night each single day to #ReleaseDart you never give us a proper response. all we would like is for Dart to be released.

I only recently bought Ascension and I must say that the multiplayer is very unforgiving to a new player. I’ve finished every God of War game that there has been, and played through the multiplayer tutorial a couple of times, but I just get destroyed online. It’s a very demoralising experience indeed and has soured my opinion of the game a great deal. Single player is as satisfying as other games in the series, but there is little fun to be had for new players online.
Oh boy, guiz! Moar godz of wahr! But seriously, #ReleaseDart. I swear to god (not war) I would buy him, the rival (which there should be since it was said every character gets the same treatment (arcade, rival, etc.)) and the stage day 1. And I know I’m not the only one who still supports this game. Hell, just look at the other comments.

Am I the only one that noticed gauntlets at the end of the trailer?
The DLC weapons and armour are overpowered, as are people with high level characters and characters who’ve “ascended” (reset their level after reaching the cap). Characters who reach ascension get other bonuses. If you’re not fielding a top-level character who’s ascended twice and has DLC weapons and armour you don’t stand a chance. You have to pay-to-win and grind-to-win in order to compete online.
Please SSM, release Dart and more stuff for PSASBR.

I would like to join the other users asking for the inclusion of Dart in PASBR, lots of people asked for at least one RPG character, seems kinda bad they are not getting it when it was already designed.
Quentin Ramsey, could you pitch this idea to the people above? How about Playstation holds like a yearly tournament for competitive games like GOW:A, PASBR, Twisted Metal, and Fat Princess?
Sega did their Sega Cup and they had Virtua Figher. Capcom did the SF 25 anniversary tournament. Would be cool if Playstation did something similar like this to help its games grow and attract people.

@33 lol, you just copied and pasted my post. And just to let anyone know, I did play GoW:A (The single player) and it was pretty good. But I refuse to buy a copy for myself to play the multiplayer due to SSM’s terrible support. Unless I see more support for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, I will change my mind.

While God of War is a fantastic series, I don’t feel that it should warrant the abandonment of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, a very underrated celebration of PlayStation’s history. There are even costumes contained in the game’s code that have not been released yet– a fact that many fans are now aware of. And now, to add insult to injury, one of the most requested first-party characters was revealed to have been cancelled, rather than released as DLC.
Please, Sony Santa Monica. It can’t be too difficult to support both games equally.

Speaking of DLC…I know of a certain game that had a dlc character canned (Dart for PSASBR) and was wondering if you could please bring him back please? This game is amazing and has a fully dedicated fanbase that is willing to purchase more content for this game.
I mean look at this! All these petitions with thousands of signatures all for 1 character, and he isn’t the only one…this fanbase, no matter the odds, will always back this game, always support it…That says alot, So please start supporting this game, we really appreciate it and all the work that has gone into it.

It’d be nice to just hear official feedback from Santa Monica Studios themselves to whether support will be given to PSABR or not, there are still a fair amount of glitches and balance issues that need to be addressed.
Don’t abandon a game that has potential to be great. Especially that it shows a lot of beloved Playstation memories. if you release classic characters like Crash, Spyro, Tomba, Abe and Dart, the playstation fans and others with fond memories of their games will come to Playstation AllStars Battle Royale. And if you do this, or at least update the game with many cool dlc characters, costumes and stages, and improve the online, its fanbase will grow, allowing you guys, or some other first party developer to make PSASBR 2 for PS4
