PlayStation Store PLAY, our annual summer program showcasing a diverse lineup of great PSN games and special offers, is back with four hot new games, including two PSN exclusives. PlayStation Store PLAY begins tomorrow when this year’s lineup of games becomes available for pre-order on PlayStation Store — click here to learn more.

If you pre-order any of this year’s PLAY games you will get an exclusive PS3 XMB theme based on each game purchased. In addition, if you are a PlayStation Plus member, you will receive a 20% discount on PLAY games when pre-ordering. And if you end up picking up two or more of these games, we’re giving you bonus PSN cash vouchers. You can take advantage of these great bonuses based on PLAY games purchased from July 16 to August 20:

  • Pre-order or Buy any 4 PlayStation Store PLAY games to get $10
  • Pre-order or Buy any 3 PlayStation Store PLAY games to get $6
  • Pre-order or Buy any 2 PlayStation Store PLAY games to get $3

Now let’s get to the great lineup of games for PlayStation Store PLAY. This year you can get your hands on two PSN exclusives with Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark and ibb & obb, plus Cloudberry Kingdom and DuckTales: Remastered! Check out all the details on each game below.

PlayStation Store Play 2013

July 23: Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark (PS3/PS Vita) – Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark is a fast-paced stealth platformer featuring brutal hazards, ruthless enemies, fiendish puzzles and red pixels galore. Jump, sneak, and be chunked through 80 levels. Will you make it out alive? Armed with only your wits and a pair of top-of-the-line Stealthing Goggles, it’s your job to sneak your way through a deadly facility that’s determined to extinguish your fragile little life. With no weapons and no armor, being seen means instant death. Stay out of the light to avoid the attention of deadly security robots! Leap like a lusty salmon to avoid those zap-happy lasers! Think fast as the walls close in around you! And once you’ve defeated these deadly chambers (or they’ve defeated you), create your own fiendish death-rooms in Stealth Inc’s fully-featured level editor. This game supports Cross Buy and entitles you to both the PS3 and Vita version! Pre-order Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark starting July 16 for $9.99 ($7.99 for PLUS members).

July 30: Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3) – Unhappily ever after. That’s how it starts. The Orb resurfaces and the classic characters return. Kobbler with his mania, Princess with her endless boredom. It’s only a matter of time before Bob, our hero, shows up to put order back to madness. Three powers struggle for victory and the fate of Cloudberry Kingdom hangs in the balance. What will become of the retired hero, Bob? Will saving Princess one last time win her love? Could true love ever stop Kobbler and the power of the Orb? No, probably not. But hey, it’s worth a shot! Cloudberry Kingdom is designed with a fully random level generator, which means very level is brand new — you’ve never seen it before. Play as 10 hero types and unlock more. Includes support for up to four players with local multi-player and co-op. Pre-order Cloudberry Kingdom starting July 16 for $9.99 ($7.99 for PLUS members).

August 6: ibb & obb (PS3) – ibb & obb is a two-player cooperative game set in a puzzle-filled world where gravity goes both up and down. You can only succeed by working closely together. Find a friend for some true local cooperative couch fun or match up online. Fall up and jump down through 15 levels filled with double gravity puzzles and discover the eight hidden worlds that will test your new non-Newtonian skills to the maximum. All levels have their own unique music composed by Kettel (LINK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kettel) known for his warm melodic electronica. Pre-order ibb & obb starting July 16 for $9.99 ($7.99 for PLUS members).

August 13: DuckTales: Remastered (PS3) – DuckTales: Remastered is a hand-crafted, beautiful reimagining of one of the most iconic 8-bit titles of all time. Go back to one of the golden ages of gaming, but now refined with a level of detail that will please hardened Disney or retro Capcom fans. Featuring hand-drawn animated sprites, original Disney character voice talent and richly painted backgrounds from the classic cartoon TV series, Scrooge McDuck and family come to life like never before. The gameplay retains the authenticity of its 8-bit predecessor, simple and fun and including slight modifications to improve gameplay flow and design. Embark on an authentic DuckTales adventure, as Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie travel to exotic locations throughout the world in their quest to retrieve the five Legendary Treasures. Pre-order DuckTales: Remastered starting July 16 for $14.99 ($11.99 for PLUS members).

If you are heading to San Diego Comic-Con 2013, all four games will be available to demo in the PlayStation booth from July 18-21th.

@45 i second the idea of demos for all these games. I guess they are afraid no one will buy them if they play the demo and find the games boring.

While the idea of doing this kind of sale is good…

This is yet another terrible selection of games.

I’ve never bought a game from this promotion because you keep giving us terrible choices of games.

Let us pre-order REAL full PS3 games and do a promo like this for them. Then you’ll get my money.

I couldn’t force myself to play games like these if they were free and I got a prize for every game finished.

PS3 is the best console with the best line up of games right now, so stop trying to force feed us these little titles and ports of phone games to the Vita and focus on the REAL GAMES for once.

PLAY is about new digital (only) PS3 games though. We love AAA games but also enjoy helping you guys discover smaller digital titles.

We do also support larger games launching simultaneously at retail on in the PS Store. You will see more and more digital pre-orders for those being made available in the PS Store in the coming weeks and leading to big AAA launches in Oct-Nov.
Last March we also released AAA games such as Bioshock Infinite, and had a credit-back campaign running concurrently (you were able to get $10 for every $50 spent in the PS Store). Look for those deals in the future.

So if Cloudberry Kingdom is coming out later this year for Vita does that mean if I buy the PS3 version now to take part in this deal I will get the Vita version free when it arrives?

Decisions hang in the balance….

We hope to have an answer for you soon. We actually are discussing with UBISOFT about it. You are not the only one to want that to happen. I’ll send your comment to our freinds at UBISOFT. We would love cross-buy to happen but haven’t had confirmation yet. Stay tuned!…

I am with you on this. Unfortunately it is up to the developer. Not all of them have the bandwidth too finish their game AND develop, submit, support a separate demo. :-(

To the people wishing for the games to be on Vita…I would be fine with it NOT being cross-buy or even on the Vita IF I could at least remote play these games as an alternative. THAT is what I’m looking forward to most with the PS4…not so much having to buy or own games for the Vita when I can get the same experience by remote play without needing storage space free on the Vita.

I’ll be getting……not Cotton Tails, but Duck Tales!. for sure. Thanks to Sony and Capcom for the discount on that.

And count me among the other voices that would like Sony to look into the possibility of somehow getting all or most of PSN games compatible with Vita. I know it would take some hardcore software engineering, but I know you guys got it in you. It would be win/win. Vitas library instantly gets VAST with games people want, and developers and publishers get revenue from a whole other active platform with no effort on their part. There really are few games I want on my Vita more so than things like the X-Men and Simpsons arcade games, Castle Crashers, Chronicle of Mystara and so on. Even if I had to buy them again, I would.

Something for Sony to consider if the platform is capable somehow.

Stealth Inc and Ducktales for me. (I have really high hopes DT will be Vita compatible down the road) Nothing like my Vita for platformers and indies.

I’ve only heard of the DuckTales games and definitely want it; not sure what those other three even are. But getting all 4 with the Plus discount and $10 back pretty much makes it like getting one of them for free. So if at least two out three are good, might as well get them all.

Any chance of demos coming so we can see what we’re getting into?

@dodgedoors

I totally missed where it said from 7/16-8/19, thanks.

Pierre clarified that the PS+ is only during pre-order, which as somebody pointed out, good, however I’d like to demo some of these before purchase. I hope that these sales don’t stay exclusive to pre-orders.

Look guys when I compare your summer sale for the last 2 weeks with Steam or Microsoft’s summer sale you dropped the ball BIG TIME

Now compare thisvdeal with the summer or arcade xbox is offering. I want those games instead of these. You didn’t even put up trailers or screenshots (in this post) to get us excited about these 4 games. Why?

I want to take advantage of this promotion with the cash voucher only if it’s deliver soon ’cause I also want to take advantage of buying some Move games that are on sale this week so I wonder if I pre-order them tomorrow when will I have the voucher? otherwise I should go directly to this week sale. Hope I get an answer

It’s hard having so many discounts, I love being a PS+ member =)

I am,definitely looking forward to Stealth Inc. I don’t mind the name changed as it won’t be offensive to some people or deter parents from allowing their children to play it. However, I am very upset that only one of these games is available on the PS Vita.

Our family owns and a Wii and a XBOX 360; but I personally use my PS Vita more than either the Wii or XBOX and I’ve always preferred Sony PlayStation as I’ve owned both a PSP 2000 and PSP 3000. It’s quite disappointing to see Sony letting the ball down on both triple AAA games and Indie games on the PS Vita. The PS Vita needs a lot more support from both first party and third party folks the triple AAA front and Indie games. I want Duck Tales on my VIta because I am not buying a PS3 right now. I am waiting to buy PS4 this autumn.

Are they running out of ideas for games, or do they just not care about putting decent stuff on the store anymore? The only thing I’d even consider getting is Ducktales, but I already played the original version years ago. And what about the Vita? Did they just abandon that or something?

How about changing the store ON TIME TODAY?!!!!
EVO was just this week, so what’s for us “non-poser” gamers who play games that requires REAL SKILL instead of something like “The Last Of Us” or trendy “COD type” stuff? If it doesn’t involve “Injustice:GAU” then it is LAME. Just change the store’s DLC ALREADY!!!!!!!
