Real Boxing on PS Vita Enters the Ring September 17th for $9.99

Update: Real Boxing now confirmed to launch on September 17th in the United States.

Here at Vivid Games we do like a fight. The art team is terrible at making teas and coffees – so that often ends in fisticuffs. The sound guys are always making too much noise – and with the recent warm weather that’s meant we’ve been extra grumpy, so often their racket has ended in a punch-up. And as for the management team? Well they are often throwing their weight around – so the rest of us really enjoy punching them in the face.

Real Boxing on PS Vita

Not in real life, obviously. Fortunately, as the developer and publisher of Real Boxing, we’re able to settle any disputes we have in the virtual ring. And we’re really excited to reveal that you guys will be able to do the same on PS Vita on September 17th, for $9.99.

As the name suggests, Real Boxing is a boxing simulation game where you’ll create a boxer and take him on a journey from amateur to pro. There are also a multitude of other modes and features including multiplayer so you can touch gloves remotely with friends. There will also be regular tournaments based on leaderboard rankings, so there’s always a new challenge ahead. Boxing games seem to be rather few and far between, so we’re really proud to be bringing the first console styled boxing simulation to PS Vita – the sport is the purest form of one-on-one combat, making this a highly strategic type of game.

Real Boxing is powered by the Unreal Engine 3, so it certainly looks the business (we’re slightly biased, I know, but hopefully you’ll agree). It allows us to really make you feel every bone-crunching blow, see every drop of sweat and spatter of blood just like a real boxing match, just without actually getting hurt because trust me, that bit is no fun. Your boxers are completely customizable too. You can choose from of a range of hairstyles, tattoos, boots and stats to make the character all your own from the laces up.

We’d like to quickly thank Sony, who has been incredibly supportive. It has been a pleasure to work with PS Vita’s tech to make Real Boxing look and feel everything we want it to. We’re really chuffed with it, and I hope you guys like it. With any luck, I may be able to go a few rounds with you when the game comes out.

  • Those graphics sure look nice.

  • got to say I’m pretty excited

  • Oh, yes.
Thank you for adding more library to my future Vita games.

  • Really am pulling for this game. Been awhile since there has been a life like boxing game on the market. Best boxing game ever made was Victorious Boxers.

  • Hope this comes free on PS Plus (:

  • @5 Jesus Christ, its $9.99. How cheap do you need it? Support the developers of boutique titles like this. If it was from EA, I’d say “wait”. But devs like these need money to encourage further development on the platform. Anyway, that aside, does the game have a platinum? I’m not the trophy hunter I used to be, and probably won’t plat it anyway, but the option is always nice.

  • Wow this looks kinda neat. I have quite a bit of fighting games on my vita, but no boxing ones yet lol. And at $9.99 it’s going to be hard NOT to pick this one up.

  • Looks pretty good. Haven’t bought a boxing game in a long time.

  • WHAT…????
    Is this true???
    A NEW GAME for VITA????

After MONTHS I see a NEW GAME FOR VITA?

Is it a Dream or a Nightmare?

    …. Maybe I’m drunk …

  • @9 We are getting psvita games weekly right now. But if you say so….

  • Would like to see it in motion

  • graphics look fantastic, but i’m not into boxing games so a pass for me.

  • Not really into boxing, but the part about having your character go from an amateur to a pro is cool.
Might give this a try if the dl isn’t too big.

  • Selling us $0.99 game for $9.99?

    $9.00 button tax?

I’d rather just have the game for $0.99 without extra features and such.

    • Hi All,
Indeed the VITA version is more expensive. However the VITA version is not just a simple port of the mobile version. It gives you much more content when compared to the mobile e.g.:
      • New modes/features
      • The multiplayer, online and ad-hoc with a brand new tournament mode/system, exclusive to Vita.
      • Vita specific controls such as tilt and touch controls and Near functionality
      • No in-app purchases, all areans are unlocked
      • Better graphics – the Vita version looks much better with enhanced shaders, lighting, character models
      • The new controls really make the game feel new and different and allows much more depth to the fighting
The Vita version is the best version of Real Boxing. It has much more content so more customisation options, better enemy AI, more gameplay options (such as multiplayer), better combo system, deeper fighting …
We believe it is worth the advertised price.
      Hope this clarifies.

  • WHAT THE F..K! this game has been in iOS since november of 2012 and is nearly the same graphics on iPhone 5 and the new iPad and it costs in the Appstore 0.99 cents!!! for godsakes you better be kidding if this thing hit the playstation mobile on vita for 9.99 it better have new content and controls, physics, shadows & lighting techniques and new textures for that price! -_-

  • Looks great, but not a boxing fan.

  • Just Google “Real Boxing hands on” and you should find the E3 hands on post on PSNStores. This game is on Android and iPhone for $0.99, 1/10th the price. That means the Vita version will be 1000% better!

  • Awesome, I’m huge fan of the sweet science, will buy this one for sure, believe I saw this game running on the Nvidia Shield too.

  • @ Dracont Thanks to wake up me and confirm the REAL VITA SITUATION!

Another game port for other device 1000% MORE EXPENSIVE for Vita…

    …..
    VITA…

ONE MORE TIME for another LIE!

  • 10 bucks and its for vita? this will be the first boxing game I have ever bought

  • This is a cool game worth checking out!!!!!!!!!

  • Plus discount and I’m sold!

  • Wait…it’s .99 everywhere else? Hmmm…maybe not.

    • The 0.99 $ price is a summer sale. It is fair to say that the iOS/Android price is between 0.99 and 4.99 $. We do not rule out price changes in the future and this includes VITA version.

  • Great now if we can get status updates on lone survivor, snapshot, type 0, etc.

  • Im a vita fan all the way but i’m not too excited about having an ios game that costs 99 cents being ported to the vita for ten times the amount. There has to be at least ten times the amount of extra features and ten times better graphics then the ios/android version.

  • Only thing that sucks about this is that it is still a month away. Looking forward to it.

  • Nice I need that game

  • This game was demoed on Nvidia Shield at CES last Jan.

  • LOL it looks so lame. But fun. I’ll be getting it.

  • will have support for trophies?

  • My only concern is that all I saw the fighters throw were hooks. Aren’t there jabs, uppercuts, body shots, and the like?

  • Yes its 0.99 in ios n android but without physical buttons, God i hate playing action game without physical buttons! But what else i can get with 9 dollars price tag aside from physical buttons?

  • This makes me really happy i have been hoping for a boxing game to come out for the vita and i run into this on reddit, good ol reddit lol can’t wait!

  • I understand adding a premium to port it over from phone to vita sure….but $9.00 more? I wish to play this on vita but not when i can get the same experience on my phone for 90% off.

No sale. Might have had better shot if it was like $3-5

  • Does this port exclude all the in-app purchases found on iOS?

And does it include the extra arena (which is $0.99 on iOS) and any other content DLC that I may have missed (some were hard to tell what they were from the title).

Because if that’s the case, the $10 price isn’t really that big of a deal. But you should probably make that clear.

Since I’m sure the game would be tweaked a lot to work without the in-app purchases to “make it easier”. Like how Nun Attack reworked the game so it didn’t have any in-app purchases.

  • A big thanks to Vivid Games for bringing this game to the vita! One of the first things I though about this game first seeing it on a Iphone was “why isn’t this on the Vita?” and I’m glad now to finally add it to my library.

  • @35

All DLC is included with no in-game purchases to be found. Everything you unlock is by money earned from fights won.

  • FINALLY a boxing game in my ps vita! hope a basketball will have also unlike psp they got 2k13, and a dual stick shooter like burn zombie burn, zombiewood? and more game please a real 3D graphics not a indie game that look like a family computer graphics…

  • ohhh this ishhh looks gangstaaaa, to bad i dont own a vita.

  • wtf this game looks incredible and it’s only 10 dollars. I can’t wait to get this game. This should hold me down until I get Killzone. I was just thinking I want a new boxing game and sony read my mind haha.

  • CrashOveride1323

WTF?!? When did gamers become a bunch of cheap complaining babies?!? Complaining about a $9.99 Vita game. Seriously? Support the devs, stop complaining about cheap games! I for one can’t wait to get this title onto my Vita!!

  • At least you could try to explain why this version cost 1000% more than the ios/android version..

  • Do not complain about something that cost 1000% more expensive than its competitors;

… Definitely, these people = BURN MONEY!

    FACEPALM!

  • another “mobile” port that costs a lot more than the mobile release? No thanks. Either release at a fair price or dont release it at all

  • This looks like a lot of fun. I’ll definitely have to pick it up! I want to support developers willing to take the time to develop fun games for the Vita.

  • My opinion : this game doesn’t interest me on the psvita, so this is another skip just like the stealth game of last keep… Bring on the twin shooter games onto the vita and then we are talking ^_^

  • Why do people continue to ignore the fact the mobile version has over $10 wotprth of in app purchases? Some of which seem like “lazy? Buy to progress faster!” DLC.

Why should it matter if this costs more, if they made the necessary changes to make it better as a real game. Instead of the typical mobile model where the game is crap or tedious unless you buy berries or some bs?

  • Real Boxing looks REALLY GOOD ..and i shall be supporting this tomorrow..aka PAY DAY..lol Im REALLY glad SONY is supporting the PS Vita with more games this year..Im looking foward to KillZone and some more REAL AAA games like GOD of WAR and a nice 2D/3D game like Guacamelle but with Weapons and Character Customization – i know its too much to ask but …WHY NOT :p

  • Now this is why most of us purchased the vita, seeing advertisements how it was graphically enhanced with things like cross play only brought us in more, so it came off as this core gaming device, so I’m very happy to see a game like this on vita, I really was starting to think it was becoming an app mini game based device which I’m sorry but that’s not what we got it for.
reach out to developers its not just on their part
we all have a part from the fan base to the marketers to the developers, its a epic device so lets put it to use!

  • I’m usually not into sports games, but this looks great! Graphics are on-par with early PS3 games (in a good way!)

Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery also used Unreal Engine on Vita, and it was beautiful in a totally different way — like playing a classic Rankin & Bass production.

It also helps that the character models of the guys in your game are pretty hot across ethnicities, not like the “gritty” guys in The Fight: Lights Out. It looks like Abercrombie & Fitch models boxing! ;)

any use of rear touch, Near, or other Vita-specific functionality? does it have a platinum trophy? is there same-Vita competitive play like Duael Invaders and some LBP levels has?
